Great café with local honey and prepped freezer meals! This place is a regular pick whenever we want to sit down for some coffee/tea and small breakfast/lunch. Their rotating soups and baked goods are always delicious and fresh! Today, we had the chicken noodle soup with half a chicken bacon ranch sandwich, and a build your own breakfast sandwich. Both were great! The staff are always nice, and the custom mural and decor were made by local artists! They also sell local honey in various sized containers ranging from a small squeeze bottle to a half gallon container. It's a charming and welcoming place!
I've driven by The Beehive what seems like a zillion times over the past month or so as I've dealt with my father's hospice, subsequent death, and now dealing with his home in nearby Putnam County. Today, I spent some time clearing out my father's home and helping my nephew, who'd been staying with him prior to his death, settled in a new residential situation. As I was driving through Danville on the way home, I stopped at the town square and decided to have a late lunch in the area. To be honest, I headed first to Square Burger. However, as a wheelchair user I was dismayed to see a step into their establishment. No go. I wasn't in the mood for Mayberry Cafe despite my love for the place. I looked over and realized this was a great chance to check out The Beehive. The Beehive is just off the square and shares a building with Two Guys Pies. The US 36 entrance is not wheelchair friendly, however, the back entrance has a nice concrete ramp (I did find the sidewalk a bit narrow - I noticed as I entered here that had I desired to visit Two Guys Pies there was a bicycle on the sidewalk that would have easily blocked my access). This is an attractive building. The Beehive has been here a little over 10 years. I'm not sure I'll describe The Beehive accurately - it's sort of a coffeehouse meets breakfast/lunch joint where you can also get fresh, local honey and other frozen goods to take out. They do catering and offer deli sandwiches, beer/wine carryout, a build your own salad menu, local meat and produce, and the aforementioned frozen goods. They also have a small retail area where you can buy honey, t-shirts, and other items. A good amount of their sweets utilize honey instead of sugar. I parked on the square in one of their accessible spots (parking is free, up to 5 hours for accessible parking but only two hours for others). I wheeled around the building - someone was planting plants/flowers and was super friendly and stopped his work to make sure I could get through). They close at 4pm on Saturdays - I arrived about 3ish. I ordered one of their combos that included a 1/2 sandwich, chips, and a drink. They do have unsweetened iced tea, fountain drinks, and a variety of canned/bottled drinks (including Choc-ola!). They also have a ton of coffee/latte type options. I found the prices to be reasonable. This is especially true given these are healthier options (though certainly not everything here qualifies as "healthy."). The employees were friendly. They were quiet, however, service was quite good. I loved the atmosphere. I had zero issues finding a wheelchair friendly table. I could independently reach everything I needed, though I'm sure they'd have assisted if needed. This wasn't a mind-blowing experience. It was simply a really good lunch in a pleasing atmosphere at a fair price. After an emotional experience like clearing out my family home (which isn't yet done), this was a great way to relax and calm the emotions. I enjoyed the sandwich, which is toasted, and they had Miss Vickie's potato chips. I'm not sure why it took me so long to stop here, however, I'd easily return for the simple yet wonderful menu, great drinks, warm atmosphere, and friendly employees.
I stopped in for the first time and tried their Honey Nut Latte today. The flavor was really nice, but a little milkier and sweeter than what I usually go for. Totally a "your mileage may vary" situation--if you like sweeter drinks, you'll probably love it. The space itself is cozy in the best way, with plenty of chairs and tables that make it easy to settle in and get some work done. The staff were genuinely kind and warm, which makes a big difference on a first visit. Overall, a really inviting spot. I'm planning to come back soon--and bring my husband along to check it out.

The first time I got the Nutella latte hot and now I tried it cold yesterday and I have to be perfectly honest, I'm not sure which version I love more. The place has a super cute vibe, and the bathroom is very clean. Great little coffee spot if you're roaming around Indiana.
What a darling, local, independent little cafe! Just off the square they offer breakfast, lunch, and TONS of beautiful baked goods. I had the BYO salad and chose all my ingredients. Honey lemon dressing was delish. Hubby had chicken bacon ranch sandwich and mushroom spinach gnocchi soup. Grabbed a raspberry bar and snickerdoodle cookie for dessert. There was also a freezer case where you could grab casseroles for home.

I just loved my lunch at the beehive it is casual but well decorated. They also have many to go frozen entrees they sell to take home to heat and eat. I got the sandwich soup combo an it was great. Very quick place to go to get a casual lunch.
This is one of my favorite local small businesses!! The fudgey brownies are the best I've ever had and I will randomly drive 1 hour round trip for them with no regrets, but then I discovered that they have so many custom items to choose from that taste homemade and freshly made. I got the breakfast sandwich with bacon egg cheddar cheese red pepper and spinach and I love you can choose a half order. You order at the register and they will make it to order for you. Very casual cozy spot and I just love it

An underwhelming experience overall unfortunately. Staff not knowledgeable or helpful. Tried to order a combo and they were out of multiple side dish options, but still had those options written on the board at the counter where you order. At least mark it out? BLTA sandwich was good. A corn and potato chowder was almost sour/ tangy... honestly way too much sour cream in this soup. Not chowder like at all. The grilled cheese was not impressive to look at. We hoped for a lot, but won't be back. read more

Food is amazing! Only negative was that the last time I got an iced coffee here, the flavored powder was not mixed in and the whole drink tasted grainy. Aside from that experience, The Beehive atmosphere was amazing and had excellent service! read more

I could eat the little Italy sandwich every day for life, it's so so yummy and somehow gets better every time I have it! The soup selections never disappoint, specifically the sausage tortellini and lasagna soup! The atmosphere inside the Beehive is so nice and cute, and the food is always a hit! read more

I have been here many times and recommended it to anyone in the Hendricks area. It's a cute cafe perfect for lunch or to just have a warm cuppa and sweet treat. They do have a few refrigerators for some take-bake or essentials home, as well as an inventory of local honey and a few gift items. We tried the take-bake chicken pot pie last year and the family enjoyed it. Still have to try some of the other items. Today I was taking a study break for lunch and my go-to choice is the Tuscan chicken sandwich, add avocado spread, and soup of the day, with a hot tea. Staff are friendly, but be patient during a weekend lunch rush because there are only a few workers to get to everyone. It is a counter order, but do bring food and drinks to your table. read more

not gonna lie. i'm surprised they don't know me by first name and car, actually they might. i'm pretty serious about the places i bookmark on here and my journey to trying new things. the difference is there's always a reason or item that has me trying something new. anyway i don't remember how this place came across my radar. i probably was searching sweets during my diet - insert crying face emoji- well i saw those hand sized homemade oatmeal cream pies. i waltzed in masked up one warm afternoon - everyone else was not but this is hendricks county and they are different... i looked at the display and the menu .. cool they serve salads and soups. i asked the associate if they had oatmeal cream pies and she said no, i'm like oh well when will you? she said hm idk if she's making any tomorrow. let me ask and she asked! and the owner? came over stated she did NOT have them on her list but would add them and that they'd be out in the morning. i'm like bet see ya then. the next morning the display case was shining gold and individually wrapped gifts from god were sitting there waiting on me. i bought 2 - big mistake because 2 were not enough- and left. THEY WERE SOFT BUT STILL CHEWY. the oatmeal cookie had this cinnamon flavor. the frosting was perfect. i have been obsessed ever since. the worst part is they are not made on a specific day or even often imo. i did return for more and the owner and original associate were like omg we don't have any left! we hoped you came in. i'm like i got them i just didn't want to interrupt it was busy when i came in. is that not good customer service? so no don't go and try and take my oatmeal cream pies but def go and support this local spot. she offers catering for some of the food she serves and you can request batches of the sweet treats if you order in advance read more
I absolutely love The Beehive and how homemade and fresh everything is. I have not been here since quarantine which was over a year ago. I brought my other half here who was really hungry. He looked at the menu and was like this is not going to fill me up. I said yes it will trust me. I told him I was buying lunch so he will not able to complain. He ordered the veggie sandwich and added chicken, and a bowl of their soup of the day, which was tomato cream soup. The soup was delicious and not acidity at all. Needless to say he was not hungry afterwards. I ordered my usual chicken artichoke, and cheese sandwich. With an aoiloi spread, and a salad with their homemade honey lemon dressing. Their desserts are all wrapped individually. I got a piece of carrot cake to go. The cake was good, not the best I have had. It also had zucchini in the cake. I think the frosting needed to be different, like the usual cream cheese frosting. I did buy their rolls that they make their sandwiches on, and a really nice sour dough loaf. A jar of marinara sauce, I bought this sauce before but at the farmers market. They still have the loose tea leaves in the pouch for sale, and some jelly but have really downsized the variety of jellies to buy. They do have a freezer section with homemade pot pies, pizza, lasagna, Alfredo, and other delicious looking meals to take and bake at home. I will have to try one of those next time. As always I will be back, and sooner than a year. read more

The beehive is soooo adorable. This is a cafe perfect for those who want to indulge in local goodies. The beehive sells local goods from meats to soaps. This is a great place to get some work done. I was able to get a good amount of work done. When It got closer to lunch time it got pretty loud. A lot of people visited from the courthouse and government building in Danville. I order and skinny vanilla latte and I have to say it was the best homemade sugar free vanilla I've ever had. It tasted so natural and it didn't even seem like it sugar free. I order a salad to-go with homemade ranch. It was not all that. I paid $7.38 for a salad that was a side salad. It was steep for the amount of salad that I got. The salad was overall not very flavorful but it wasn't awful. read more
