This is where I go most of the time to shop. The pharmacy people are great. Lynda is great! There are a couple that I choose not to go in their line or the self check out if they are around on purpose. They aren't so nice. The one that wears a mask will tell me to move out of the way if there was a problem with the self checkout register, like today. I was explaining to her what was happening and she just interrupted me to say I got it. Today was a grand reopening. This morning there were so many more people there. It breaks my heart that there are so many people that can't even look you in the eye and say hello or even smile. They had groups of people that were not customers standing around talking to each other, but would not engage with the customers. Outside, there are little booths with products. I walked out there after I filled my cart up and paid and not one of them said hello to me. They were all too busy talking amongst themselves. What happened to being people friendly. I did not grab any of their free products. Today the store was cleaner than I've ever seen it. It disheartens me and people don't have the heart to even just say hello or smile. It's like a bunch of robots. All these people that are there for the grand reopening will eventually go back to wherever they work. There are people out there who need someone just say hello. I hope whoever is reading this thinks about others even if it's just for a second. read more

I chose to go to Avon Kroger Bakery because the Brownsburg Kroger is always lacking in regard to service and knowledge. I call twice over 2 days and I am told, "Please call back when our cake decorator is in.." I drive to Avon Kroger today and I have to wait while one of 2 workers have a personal conversation with a friend and then amongst themselves. I ask about doing an Edible Image on my cake and one of the workers says, "Can't do it, our machine is broken. You can try Danville if you want.." She then asks if it's a personal photo and I tell her I had it taken 20 years ago and she shuts me down, "Oh we can't do that due to copyright infringement.." I tell her, "This is frustrating, I called twice and then make the trip here and you offer no help/alternatives.." She responds in an exaggerated and sarcastic tone, " Sorry Lady." I tell them I will go somewhere else and she says "Have a good day Lady" loudly and sarcastically. I spoke with the store manager and he listened and apologized for the fact the workers did not conduct themselves professionally and offer options. He also thanked me for taking the time to tell him. He shared workers ask for hours in different departments but they will only get that option if they conduct themselves professionally. My advice- tell the manager when a worker treats you rudely and expects you to be a nice Hoosier and walk away. I spend thousands of dollars at Kroger and this is why I detest monopolies. I'm not a die hard kroger shopper. But this location has definitely got it together at least in the organic produce section. First the store is ALWAYS very well organized. Accept the ice cream section lol. But mainly the organic produce section is very well stocked every time I've been in there. More so than probably any kroger I've been in.. everything is vibrant and stacked so nice. You can tell someone is periodically coming by reorganizing as they should.. the presentation is probably so pretty makes you not want to mess it up lol. Apparently Kroger management, as well as the Avon PD, are okay with people threatening another in Kroger's parking lot. I came in for a pickup order today and another customer was blocking all five lanes of the pickup spaces parking crosswise with a trailer behind. I pulled up and asked if I could get into a space and he said he was picking up groceries as well. I asked him to move his vehicle and he refused and said he would park right there. I said I would wait also, and parked my car. He said I was parked too close to his truck and I said he had plenty of space. He said "How about I swing on you? How about that?" I said "I guess you'll be talking to the police about that" and rolled up my window and called the police. He did as well. In the meantime, Kroger management came out to see what was the problem, and talked to him, but not me. The police arrived, and when I explained to the cop that the man had threatened me, he went over to the gentleman and talked to him for a moment. In the meantime, one of the managers approached me and told me this was stupid (which I agree with). But when I asked if he was okay with customers threatening another, he shrugged and said it's "your word against his." He said he had no problem with someone blocking all the lanes, and said I was blocking the thoroughfare between the rows of parking. The police officer returned and told me that if I wanted to press the issue, he would say I was parked too close to the man's vehicle and that was "criminal confinement." This was an obvious threat to drop it. He didn't offer to take my statement, or even pull out a notebook to take the other man's statement. So, here I am using the only other means at my disposal. I never threatened the man, was not parked too close to the man's vehicle, and did not engage the man in an argument. Yes, this was stupid situation, but even stupid situations get out of hand when one party threatens another. And when the management of Kroger's allows that sort of behavior on their property, it may be time for me to look elsewhere for my groceries. And when Avon PD refuses to take that sort of thing seriously, we are really in trouble. read more

The customer service is condescending and rude. The cashier mistakenly wrang up a bouquet of flowers that were not in our cart. He said to go to customer service. We received a paper receipt for a refund of $53.50. My credit card account shows the original charge without the refund. The refund does not show. I called Kroger customer service who indicated there was nothing they could do. They were rude with a condescending sing/song lilt in their voices (2 separate individuals I spoke to). I have protested and challenged the entire charge amount. Shopping anywhere but Kroger from now on. read more

This review is kind of a mixed bag, but, ultimately has a happy ending. I have a friend who sent me a Kroger e-gift card so that I could use it for fuel, but, it turns out, Kroger doesn't allow you to use e-gift cards for fuel, even though it says in the terms and conditions of the e-gift card that you can use it for fuel. So, I spent an hour at this location in Avon trying to get it resolved but was unable to get it resolved because I didn't have certain personal information about the purchaser. Frankly, I don't understand why an e-gift card can't perform the same functions as an actual physical gift card. It would be great if Kroger could rectify this. My hope is that in the future, Kroger will allow e-gift cards to be used to purchase fuel. With that said, the acting store manager I believe, Joseph, was really great about everything. He was literally on the phone for probably 30 minutes trying to get it resolved and he had to call a few different numbers to get to the correct department. Unfortunately, as I said above, because I didn't have certain personal information about the purchaser, they could not move forward with the process. Joseph, however, went out of his way to help me and bought me $30 dollars worth of gas with HIS money. Pretty amazing customer service and Joseph was cool as a cucumber the entire time because he knew I was stressed about the situation. I'm not mad at Kroger or anything, because I love shopping there. But, they really need to update the legalese in the terms and conditions with regard to their e-gift cards so that it doesn't say you can purchase fuel with an e-gift card. Joseph is an amazing manager and human being for helping me because I truly did need to get gas and he made that happen. There are still great people out there who want to help and I am grateful that they exist, because we need as much human kindness as we can muster in this world. Because it is only us, as a collective, who can change this world. This particular Kroger, in Avon Indiana is just awful. I gave it a year of my life and now I'm done. Aside from, on one of my first visits, experiencing a personal attack from one very unprofessional employee - I continued to go here. It's close to my home and I don't hold an entire company responsible for a bad decision on behalf of an employee. I continued to go here, but I'd come home almost empty handed. I just couldn't get my hands on enough good stuff to buy. Their produce is not quality and their meat cases were practically empty. On the occasions when they were full, there was no variety. I came home once, with center cut pork chops that were cut so poorly they tapered to a paper thin point. After a few times of visiting here for a particular sale item, only to find it unavailable, I decided to move on. I started checking out Kroger stores in Brownsburg and Plainfield. They are WORLDS different in their product. Not only is their produce well stocked and fresh, their meat cases are full and they have l a variety of different cuts. I'm not sure why Avon is such a huge fail when two stores so close are doing a much better job. read more

Overall clean store. Visited around 7:30 AM and store in full stock mode. Had to shop around many workers in a number of aisles. Many were friendly and said hi to me. Would have thought a 24 hour store might stock more overnight. Store was well stocked. Only one item looking to get was empty, but when I went back by 10 minutes later it was full. Only real downside was they had zero non self scan registers open. Love using self scan at the grocery when doing smaller purchase, but when have a full cart I prefer to go through a regular check out. Overall prefer much more than Walmart. read more

And when I mean pick up I mean: You sit on your ass and they bring all your pre-ordered groceries out to your minivan while you cruise Facebook and drink diet coke. No screaming kids running through the candy aisle! No need to give up hope at the deli counter! All you have to do is drive up to the delivery spot and wait. Life Changer. The first 5 orders are free of the "convenience" charge (only$4.99) and they give you $10 off your 1st order. Now they will throw in substitutions for you if they are out of a certain item..but it's usually in your favor and not a big deal. New Management has made the store a waste of time. Meat department selection is limited, and request for butcher to cut is always unavailable. Precut meats are paper thin. This is my absolute favorite Kroger on the west side. It is so clean. The organic/vegetarian food section is so much better than the one in Brownsburg where I live (I have to say bburg is stepping up their game) Also they have the click and shop where you can't order online and just pick up which is amazing. This is a pretty decent Kroger overall. I shop here at least once a week. They do have a growing section of organic/health food, which is highly commendable. Also, as with any major grocer, the selection options and quantity is enormous. Another big high note is the sushi section. This is the best sushi from a grocery store I have ever tasted. Seriously, this sushi beats half of the sushi restaurants in Indy! So why the three stars you might ask? I have to ding them on inventory management, especially in the produce area. On several instances, I have seen poorly rotated stock which has resulted in damaged/expired items. I have also seen mold on some of the tomatoes on occasion. I have also seen cheese and seitan that is past the expiration date. If this store would better manage inventory and continue to grow the organic offerings, the rating would easily improve. read more

Kroger meat department: one star is more than it deserves. I purchased a pork loin on 8/11 sell by date 8/27. The following morning 8/12 opened the loin and was knocked over but the smell of this rotten meat. This is the second time I have purchased pre-wrapped spoiled meat at this kroger. Buyer beware! Secondly Kroger blocked out the best parking places for their quick check parking which are rarely 50 % occupied at least when I am at this store. I'm a huge fan of the Avon Kroger. Their fresh Sushi bar, their salad bar, fresh olive bar- a Starbucks? Really I could stay in there for days. I love the fresh breads and the meat selections at this store. This location tends to offer more variety of things than many other locations. Although it is incredibly busy I can see why. I have a Kroger local to me, but I prefer to go to this location whenever possible. This store is much improved since the remodel. I'm having a hard time understanding how you could grade a grocery store like Kroger - after having undergone such an extensive improvement - with only 2.5 stars. The selection is vastly improved, the store is much larger, aisles are wider, it's more welcoming. They've also just added a gas station with prices that are generally cheaper than the competition. While I still prefer Meijer for the majority of my grocery needs - generally because I find them to be cheaper on most things - I definitely find myself stopping at Kroger more often for one-off items since it's close to my house. Surprisingly large selection of international foods! The store is well-lit and items are fairly easy to find. There are plenty of staffed lanes but also about 10 self-checkout lanes if you're in a hurry and don't have many items. No complaints from me! I did walk through some fruit flies in the fruit section this past weekend, but that could happen almost anywhere if a pear or something gets kicked under a display for a couple days. Absolute worst pharmacy service possible. The two young pharmacy employees make it obvious that your needs do not matter. specifically a prescription was called in by a doctors office and when I called to check on it they said "I don't see one here for you" so the doctors office called back and they said "yes its ready and no one has called on it". so I call back and as she answered and said her name obviously quieter than normal to cover her name (because she knew it was me) I asked if my prescription was ready and with the rawest attitude possible she says 'well its not ready but I can get it ready'. I want to make it clear that when I called I was not rude nor did I have an attitude. If you have a medication that has anything what so ever to do with addiction, you WILL be shoved to the back of the line. I Understand anothers meds may be more important as far as the need for it, but do not waste your time because management does not care either. they may be cheaper but their attitude will ruin your day. read more
