I rarely go inside the store anymore since I discovered curbside pick up. It keeps me from too many impulse purchases. Not that I can't find things on line that I do not need but want anyways. But since I try to only look at the necessities that I am shopping for, I stick closer to my budget. I didn't like that I basically had to download yet another app, but alas it is what it is. With it though, check in is easy and your purchases come out fairly quickly and the staff loads it for you, which is very convenient. I have tried to tip and some have told me they are not allowed to accept tips, while others took it without a problem. Wonder which is correct. What I do not like is that you don't find out what items are unavailable until after your order has been completed. I do realize that is not the stores fault, but Walmart Corporate most likely. read more

This is now my second time doing my full grocery list shopping at this location. unlike every other Walmart I have been to; this Walmart was clean, had all items in stock, the workers knew where things were, and there were more than enough self checkouts with ample space for the grocery bags. I will no longer subject myself to racism and terrible customer service at the location on 38th street. read more

I have never felt so unsafe in a Walmart as I did this past weekend at the Avon, IN location. While shopping, I was approached by two different men at two separate times asking for money. That should never happen inside a retail store, and it made me extremely uncomfortable. This store clearly has a security issue. The level of theft prevention alone speaks volumes -- you can't even purchase basic cosmetics without an employee unlocking glass doors and escorting you to a separate checkout just to pay. While I understand loss prevention measures, the overall experience felt tense and unwelcoming. It's disappointing to see what shopping in Avon has come to. I will now go out of my way to shop in another town rather than return to this location. read more

I rarely leave reviews, but my experience with the Avon Walmart's curbside pickup was so shockingly unprofessional that I feel obligated to warn others. I placed a curbside pickup order the day before and arrived at my scheduled time. Nearly every curbside spot was full of idling cars, but I checked in and waited patiently. After over an hour with no updates and no employees in sight, I tried knocking at the curbside pickup door--no answer. I finally went inside, picked my own ordered items off the shelves, and brought them to the pickup area. That's when I met Blaine, the assistant manager, who told me they were no longer fulfilling curbside orders and had absolutely no intention of notifying the customers still sitting outside waiting. When I pointed out that they already had my payment and that I was literally holding the items I ordered, he condescendingly told me, "that's not how things work." When I explained that I had fulfilled my end as a customer, he continued arguing and speaking down to me, then aggressively followed me, along with another employee, to customer service. When I pressed him on why they weren't informing the many customers outside that their orders would not be completed, he openly said, "I don't care." His subordinate added, "We're aware." While the incredibly kind women at customer service worked to help me, Blaine canceled my order behind my back. A contracted police officer then began hovering around me, clearly having been told I might be a "problem," even though I was simply asking for Walmart to fulfill the order I paid for. After purchasing my items again at customer service, I went back outside and personally informed every customer waiting in the pickup spots that their orders would not be fulfilled. Several had been waiting two hours or more, and many told me the same thing had happened the night before with no communication from staff. This clearly isn't a one-time issue; it's a repeated pattern of neglect. This location demonstrated a complete lack of communication, accountability, and basic respect. The behavior of management--especially Blaine--was unprofessional, dismissive, and unnecessarily hostile. I will not be returning to this Walmart, and I strongly advise others to think twice before relying on their curbside pickup program. read more

This is my very 1st 1 star review ever, primarily because I don't give adverse reviews. I attempt to rectify the "slight" and in most cases, I simply never visit the establishment again. However, this occurrence took place early this morning and I just cannot shake the experience... While ringing up my products, I noticed a charge that was placed on my "tab" that was inaccurate. I saw it and proceeded scanning, but wondered, what is this "site merch" charge of $10.94?! I summoned an associate. Once I engaged her about the inquiry, she scanned a similar item that rang up correctly, but once again it was followed by the "site merch" fee. Totally unacceptable!!! She repeatedly insists that the fee is for the item that was previously scanned and charged... WTF?! "So, I'm being charged twice for this item"? She ultimately summons another associate that ushers me to another register, where I elected to re-scan every item, which rang up $21.88 less than the previous register. Whether a "faulty" register or fraud, I now have a severely huge mistrust of, if not all, but especially THIS location! So sad! Because now that we're doing "all the work" with self scan, there's something in place that can cheat you via your own trusted hand, if you're not paying close attention. & She insulted my intelligence by repeatedly attempting to convince me the charge was valid. read more

I continue to find items no longer being carried and empty store shelves. For example Tabasco hot sauce, they only carry one kind, but Tabasco makes a green sauce, a smoky, chipotle sauce. None of these are carried. They carry a variety of Cholula sauces. There were several other things I need that are not carried. I'm always having to go to Meijer after going to Walmart to get the things that Walmart doesn't carry. I wish they would stock the shelves more and quit eliminating popular items. read more

I stopped into the Avon Walmart while I was in the area. This Walmart is one of the bigger Walmart's I've been in. I believe it is probably the cleanest and most organized. I was primarily looking for some ladies tee shirts in sizes and colors I couldn't find in some other stores. I found everything I was looking for and more. They even carry a higher end Women's clothing line I haven't seen in any other stores. I was also able to find some skincare products that were sold at other stores. I started my visit with a return in customer service and was treated very courteously and expeditiously. I will definitely make it a point to visit this store whenever I'm in the area. read more

Well had to stop in as I ate lunch right by here. I hadn't been in this particular Walmart before. Normally I wouldn't bother reviewing a Walmart but this particular one was pretty subpar during my visit. Actually in manny ways it's almost unusable. First store layout. It is one of the most different layouts compared to others. Usually an advantage of a Walmart aside from low prices are items generally are in the same place so you don't spend time hunting them down. The toys here are in a different place then others. Perhaps they changed layouts again but I don't like this one much. The bread is way to the right of the food. I couldn't locate floor cleaner as it wasn't by the mops. Second -isles so full of junk you can't safely go through the store. I understand the need for premium placement of merchandise but the isles are already small add in an end cap a middle cap and piles upon piles of items that appeared to be awaiting being put on racks made this a painful experience. Three - went to get body lotion and that dept is a mess poor stocking and generally disorganized shelf's will make it challenging to find what you want. The good well the prices that's the main reason to go here. I would add another complaint on Walmart exclusives there is a particular AT Games arcade unit that they list as an item you only can buy at Walmart but since before Christmas I haven't seen any in store or online. And Walmart is the only place you can buy it. Self checkout is easy if you have your kids to assist. Also the store is in good repair. Prices are also usually pretty low. And Walmart branded items are actually quite good. read more

So where do I start?! I placed a delivery order from Walmart I'm Avon to be delivered last night between 7-8pm. The ordered showed delayed and then finally was delivered at 8:45pm. Unfortunately it was not my order!! I was never able to get a hold of anyone at the Avon walmart as the phone rang and then hung up. I canceled my order and received a refund. I decided to try and order one more time tonight, same order, same delivery time. Guess what, the ordered showed delayed! Tried to call the stores and no answer! I had to cancel the order again! You might want to pass on Walmart food delivery and try some place else. Poor customer service and no follow up from Walmart. Just a quick update. After not getting our food order last night, we decided to cancel and go shopping tomorrow. Well.... This morning I receive a text message saying our Walmart order was out for delivery! Ahhh Walmart. We have such a love hate relationship. I love your low prices and large assortments of randomosity that make my one-stop-shops possible. I hate how your clothes fit me like a 4-H sewing project with a participant ribbon. I was going to give you 2 stars but a recent encounter with an amazing cashier named Anna gave you an extra boost. My wife and I had just returned some items and received a $33 gift card. As we walked around picking up our items, my wife and I didn't notice that the card slipped out of my pocket. Minutes later I realized the missing card and retraced all of our steps, twice. Someone must have picked it up. We resigned to checking out without the card, frustrated that I had wasted the equivalent of 6 boxes of uncrustables. When we checked out, we made a passing comment about our endeavor to Anna. With people in line still she walked my wife over to customer service, explained the situation, and made sure we got a new gift card (apparently whoever picked it up hadn't used it yet). I am not in LOVE with the layout of this particular Wal-Mart location, BUT when it comes to customer service, this my go-to Wal-Mart in the Indianapolis area. It is clean and never a zoo-like environment like so many others. This location has had things in stock that I am looking for that their other stores do not have, namely cat flea medication, the sports bras I like, and contact lenses. And speaking of contacts, if you want to use a Wal-Mart vision center in Indy, this is the one to choose. The store where I had my last exam was out of my contacts, sold me ill-fitting glasses, didn't care to help me when my contacts kept tearing. THIS store, the ladies in the vision center were great and helpful. My contacts were in stock and they replaced my torn ones after the other location told me to call Johnson & Johnson and I was sent back here... This store is clean and bright during the day with a friendly greeter at night. It isn't super crowded no matter what time of day I have been inside shopping, maybe with exception of the first time I was here when it was new to me about eight years ago. Even then, there were more shoppers inside that night, but it wasn't a melee like I find at so many of their stores. My dad and I as well as my sister have been in and out of here with no problem, finding what we needed after being able to comfortably browse. I am not in Wal-Mart as much as I used to be, but when I need one, this is the location I prefer, hands down. read more

Visit started out bad before I even left my car. Trying to pull into lane in lot and two cart kids using one of the motorized scooters had about 30 shopping carts that they were moving. They had me blocked and could only back up into busy lane. Between that driver almost hitting me and the two cart kids with big grins at my issue I almost just drove off. Than I met a very nice employee who approached me in pet aisles and talked to me about some items while she was off the clock. Could tell she was going home since had her purse and wearing her coat. Pulled up to the Auto Center at 7am (note, they opened at 6am) to get an oil change and tire rotation on my wife's car. Lights were on, but no one in sight. Walked in and the manager told me none of her Technicians had shown up to work this morning if I'd be patient she "hoped" someone would show up! I waited about 10 more minutes before finally an unmotivated technician walked up from the parking lot to ask how they could help me. I told him what I needed and he replied, "tire rotations are by appointment only and we are all booked up for the day! You'll have to wait 30 more minutes until I get everything started up for the oil change." I pulled off and went to the Walmart in Brownsburg and was able to get both an oil change and tire rotation immediately. read more

I have been to other walmarts and other grocery stores on the west side. This is far the worst store I have been in. The produce section is a joke. This is where old produce goes to die. They never had anything stocked and I seen more walmart personal shoppers then customers. I think normally I would see 8 personal shoppers and maybe 1 employee that was doing something else. The check out lanes are a joke, there are 2 lanes open and usually they are all backed up. I had an appointment at 4:00 p.m. to have four tires put on, that ordered online. They didn't get me in until after 5:30 p.m. and then of course they are closing at 6:00pm and instead of posting their operating hours outside the door, which clearly said they closed at 7:00pm and on the website it says that they close at 8:00pm. The guy that came out to get my car, I was waiting in it, didn't have on gloves and didn't have on a face mask, they did not put plastic on the seat or plastic on the steering wheel or paper mats on the floor or whatever they are supposed to use! Really disappointed in the service that I received and the attitude of the employees and the manager, that decided to bring me a $50 gift card, for them taking so long to get me in. I called at least 15 times before I got there to make sure someone was there, no one answered the phone and when someone didn't answer the phone, I called the main store number instead of the automotive number and the manager answered and put me on hold for 15 minutes and never did get back to me, by the time I got to the store, there was a line in automotive to check out, people with in store items, not people picking up their cars. I arrived at the Wal-Mart in Avon to pick up a layaway order. Went back to layaway and a very nice young man told me Layaway did not open until 10:00. (Nowhere on my receipt does it say that.) Went and picked up a few things and came back to Layaway. First in line, had my receipt and debit card ready. Paid for my tv.....and waited. The young lady who was at the register was very nice. Not the problem. Waited till 11:00 for someone to find my tv. A 50" tv should not be that difficult to locate. And apparently it was where it was supposed to be. On my quest for a certain item today I was all over and in various stores. I stopped into the Avon Walmart. The parking lot is just a bit crazy to say the least. The store itself is updated to their more modern design and there are plenty of options all over the store you don't find at many stores. I do find that the stocking of shelves is a bit sporadic, and the aisles blocked with supplies and no employees in some areas- perhaps just my luck at the time and they were going to get more items not intentionally stranding an aisle? Terrible customer service, My boyfriend had accidentally dropped a jug of orange juice in the self checkout lanes and the ladies watching over self checkout had to stop their personal conversation and just stared at us with the most annoyed faces possible. Let out a huge sigh and slowly hands us the paper towels to clean it up. I wasn't upset that we're cleaning up the mess because i'm the type of person to clean up after myself anyways. But i've worked in plenty of customer service type jobs and when in a situation where something falls or breaks you immediately ask the customer if they'd like another and someone will bring it up for you. Just overall rude workers at this location. The longer drive to Danville walmart is so much more worth it. Also Danville has things in stock. Basic things like packs of water unlike Avon. Past few times i've gone to Avon location no packs of water were present. A worker was notified, looked at the empty water spots and walked right back over to the next aisle to continue his stocking completely ignoring the matter. read more
