Went here with a couple girlfriends for Devour last night. The food was amazing. We shared the Wagyu Corn Dogs and Buffalo Chicken Hush Puppies to start. Both had good flavor, the corn dog tasted more like a higher end polish sausage and it would have been nice to have a dipping sauce beyond the drizzle of mustard and ketchup. Same with the hush puppies. They would have benefited from a ranch or blue cheese dipping sauce, as they had a lot of filler. All still very delicious. For our entrees, they each upgraded to the NY Strip, while I did the chicken. The steak was a little grisly for the bite I had BUT that's not my preferred steak type anyway. The chicken was very tender and the truffle mash was very good. We tried the peppermint cup and peanut butter cup desserts in cute little jars. The peppermint cup was more foamy and airy than I had envisioned The peanut butter cup dessert was by far the winner. All in all, we had a great night. They do trivia on Tuesday nights (they were starting as we were leaving), and parking is easy behind the building. We will definitely go back for their other items soon! read more

This place has great potential! We came in for a pre-concert dinner! It's great that they offer reservations and free parking in the garage across the street! It's the neatest old school theater turned into a nice restaurant! The food was excellent and they have some very unique things on the menu such as wagyu corn dogs! The gone with the gin cocktail was delightful! The short rib ragu was also excellent! While we enjoyed our food & cocktails, this place has got to get more staff! Our waiter was very kind and did the best he could but he was the only server in the room and every table was full! He was responsible for 10+ tables all with at least 2 people! The staff here should be working better as a team! There were plenty of times when other staff besides our server walked by that could've easily brought a water refill or cleared a plate instead of going back empty handed. They seem to need more servers, we watched 2 tables leave without ordering because our sever just simply couldn't get to them. If you're using this place as a pre-show meal before the theater across the street make sure to give yourself plenty of time or you're going to be late for your show! When The Prewitt signed up for Devour, I knew there were no more excuses to put off trying it. We have stopped in for a cocktail, but had never tried their food. SO happy we finally did. On a busy Saturday night, we were able to snag two seats at the bar upstairs (there is one upstairs and one downstairs). I absolutely love the theme of the restaurant- its very movie theater-esque and the paintings on the wall make it fun. Our bartender was so nice, on it, and paced out our meals wonderfully. The boozy Tammy cocktail is incredible- I'm a sucker for lavender drinks during the summer, and this one was perfect. For my app- I ordered the wagyu corn dogs. Now, if you're thinking the same as me, I'm wondering how corn dogs were going to be made boujee. I will confirm that corn dogs can in fact be made boujee and taste better than any one you've ever had at the state fair. They had this mustard sauce and seeds on them that sent them over the top. We dined at the Prewitt last weekend and really enjoyed it! I couldn't resist having the filet and my partner in crime had the salmon. Both were perfectly prepared and gone too soon. Empire Strikes Back was playing on the big screen when we arrived (Yay!) and before we left, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull had started. After dinner, we moved the party upstairs to the lounge to enjoy the signature cocktails. I had a smoked Old Fashioned and my better half had the Gone with the Gin cocktail. Our server was very overwhelmed and even forgot about us it seemed. He did apologize and admitted his oversight but I would expect more from here. My hot girlfriend and I decided to try some new places by putting names in a hat and drawing to see where we're headed. The Prewitt was what came out, and after a quick review of what others thought, we threw caution to the wind and cruised over for an adventure. I must say that it was a high quality trip! The Prewitt is a combination restaurant and theater, and the feature was "Wicked" and the house was packed. It did slow the kitchen a bit, and the bartender (Abbie) was in the weeds for a bit, but she handled with grace. We had cocktails before ordering a shareable Short Rib Eggroll that was delicious. We then ordered from the handheld menu section and the items were delicious. The double smash burger was great, plus the duck fries are a must. The raspberry flatbread was sweet, but very tasty. Abbie took precious time to sign our "Unique Eats and Eateries" book and gave us 5 stars! We will go back to sample other menu items. Overall a pretty cool joint that's worth the trip. read more

We have watched the Prewitt go from the place to watch movies, an empty building, and now to a thriving upscale dinning experience. It is so neat to see what it has turned into. We came for an early dinner on Friday night, and we are glad we got there early because it got busy quick!! It was nice evening so we sat on the rooftop. It is a nice seating area with a stage for live music. For our first experience, we wish we would have sat somewhere inside because there is so much to see. The food was good but the service was better. We started the meal with wagyu corn dogs. Amazing. I could eat those all the time. A classy upscale corn dog. My lady had the steak and I had the quarter-chicken. Everything was so good. The drinks were great too, and some of them had fun names that related to movies. It is more expensive than a regular chain restaurant, but that isn't what they are trying to be. For us, this is a special occasion place to celebrate. Finally made it to The Prewitt in Plainfield! This is super close to where I live so I am happy to say I LOVED IT. The vibes are so unique since it is an old theater. I will say for being a building and space that was recreated to be a restaurant, I am so impressed. The atmosphere was very modern and high class. However, there were no appetizers available during brunch which was a bummer since it took them a while to bring our meals. The experience at lunch was as good as dinner! The day was too pretty not to enjoy outside so we ate on the roof top deck. It's was private and comfortable, they have a bathroom inside on the top floor too which was nice. We enjoyed mimosas, the Prewitt salad, amazing miso wings, and split the Royal With Cheese burger... we thought the wings were really good but the burger was the star for sure. I had very high expectations for this place and hoped it would be my new date night place because there aren't a ton of nicer options in Hendricks County. But this place did not meet my expectations. Let's start with the good. The atmosphere is fantastic. The vibe is very trendy and unique that it's in a theatre. It's intimate--perfect for date night. There is a stage and live music. The service was very attentive and quick to respond. The food was really lacking. I ordered the Wagyu corn dogs that tasted just like a corn dog, but just a very expensive ($19) corn dog. I ordered the filet on special. It was supposed the cooked medium rare, but it was medium well. The prosciutto wrapped vension was pretty good. But nothing totally knocked my socks off. I've driven past 100 times and always wanted to stop. My wife and I made a little date night. Joe, our waiter, was super fun and made the night really special. You feel like you are stepping back in time, dinner is an experience. We started off with a short rib egg roll, which was absolutely incredible. My wife had the chicken dish, again very delicious. I had the special which was an 8 ounce filet mignon, but got it topped with shrimp. The dessert was small, but fairly priced and so, so good! Definitely enough for two people. Fair warning, it's pricey. But it is a slow food, enjoy your evening experience. Great service, great food, character makes the price worth it, in my opinion. Their customer service was great. They explained the menus well and desserts too. I went with my colleagues for a work lunch. They are family friendly and business casual too. They have few vegetarian options and great dessert options. I don't know if they have any Vegan options. Their entrance to the restaurant was really peaceful and the restaurant itself is some old theatre building that was wonderful in ambience. They have parking behind the building and you have to walk to the entrance of the restaurant for a minute. If you go on a sunny spring day, it's one of the best walks. We finally got to experience the new Prewitt restaurant in downtown Plainfield. I purposely waited a couple months after their grand opening to give them an opportunity to iron things out. First, the best part of the Prewitt is the intimate and adult atmosphere. This is perfect for a date night with a loved one. The service staff was extremely nice and attentive. We arrived at 6pm with reservations and were quickly seated. The place filled up fast. I really wanted to love the food. I was hoping for this place to be my new go to location for date night. However that will not be the case. The food was served lukewarm. I'm not sure if it is supposed to be that way or not. But I personally like my food served hot especially when it is a fried food item. The short rib egg rolls ($18) were not crispy. It had a doughy texture. I originally ordered the pork porterhouse, but was told it was sold out already. Seemed odd an item was sold out at 6pm. I ordered the duck porchetta ($36) instead and was told by our server it was the 2nd most popular item after the pork porterhouse. The presentation of the dish was spot on, but again, the texture was off. I was hoping for a crispy layer of duck skin, but instead I had bites of lukewarm greasy duck fat. My wife had the pasta dish ($34). She is the type of person who rarely complains about her food, so when she told me that her meal tasted like ordinary spaghetti I knew then I wasn't the only one who was not enjoying the meal. Food - I ordered Breakfast at Tiffany's with a side of sausage for Brunch on Sunday a little while ago. It tasted great, but the Breakfast at Tiffany's plate needs more work on the food presentation. Although the French toast looks phenomenal, the grayish plate and syrup bowl made this entire dish appear less appetizing. In addition, I wish there had been another stuffed French toast on the plate. Or, the French toast had been a larger size. I usually order french toast or waffles when I go out for breakfast/brunch, and it fills me up just fine. However, this meal did not do it for me. My friend ordered the Lox Waffle! I forgot to take a picture of it. Although I had a bite of it and thought it tasted just as great, the waffle was small. That said, I've been to the Prewitt twice now! The food presentation was top-notch! But more importantly, I left The Prewitt that night rather full. TLDR on Food - I highly recommend trying The Prewitt. If you do Brunch here, skip the French toast/Waffles, and go for the Royale with Cheese. Service - The two times that I've been here, the service has been excellent! Keep it up! The second time, however, I had brunch downstairs in front of the stage on a Sunday afternoon. Do you want a great meal in a super cool space with a relaxed vibe?? Well this is the spot. It's in an old theater on US 40 in Plainfield of all places. They use the theater theme for their menu and even had Elf playing on the screen while I dined! Didn't get an appetizer with this meal but I saw several salads come out that looked great. They give you a chefs take popcorn and butter as a snack starter which was interesting! Think I would prefer just bread though. I got the duck porchetta and my date got the chicken. The duck was phenomenal!! The plate had so much going on. The pistachio really set off the dish. If I go back I don't know how I can pull myself to stray from this absolute banger. Got bread pudding for dessert. Caramel popcorn ice cream on top was a nice touch. Great portion of pudding. As a bit of a bread pudding snob I'd rank it up with some of my favorites. We had reservations for 7:45, arrived right on time, were told it might be a few & we could go to the bar, but then she said, never mind, the table is ready. So, we were seated immediately. A waiter greeted us soon after. We ordered drinks & appetizers. It was about 25 min before apps arrived & then another 10 before drinks came. After that, service was a little slow, by American standards, but I actually appreciate a slower pace when there are multiple courses. Our server was friendly & attentive. The entertainment was great, a jazz trio. I wish that they would dim the lights so that the entertainment was more of a focal point. As it was, the lights were full bright & the crowd was pretty loud, talking over the music. It was pretty chilly & wished I'd had a sweater. The ambiance was pretty nice, reclaimed theater space with exposed brick walls, but obviously renovated with new lighting, art, & some modern finishes. It was kind of odd that they had music being piped through a sound system that was not the music being played live. So, when you go in the bathroom or when the band stopped playing you hear some totally different music. I noticed this before at another restaurant with live music & wondered why they did that. My husband had 3 different cocktails & liked them all. They didn't have any non-alcoholic cocktails on their menu. I asked & was told any of their cocktails (except 1 because it was premixed) could be made n/a. I ordered tge one I thought could be most easily modified. I was OK, kind of heavy on the soda water, because they obviously just replaced the alcohol with soda water. But then they charged me full price for it. When I asked, the waiter apologized & corrected it by marking it down from $15 to $9 which I thought was still too much for what it was. All of the food was really delicious & thoughtfully prepared & Plated, with nice garnishes & sauces. The half roasted chicken was incredibly juicy, tender, & flavorful. What I didn't like: our drinks were watered down because the staff left it sitting made on the bar for 10 minutes. Did I mention that there was a full crew and only 2 tables at 7:00pm? They had full length movies playing without closed caption on which is probably why they had signs everywhere stating no more than 2 hours at a table. They would be served better by playing old cartoons, shorts and 3 Stooges the food was good, the desserts were great and the overall service was slow. Friends and I went here for trivia during devour and it did not disappoint. Trivia was well run and fun. They were definitely low on waiters, but that staff ROCKED IT and were so good at taking care of everyone and helping each other out. Everyone was super nice and I cannot say enough good things about that staff and how well they handled that night, which had to be rough on them. Food and cocktails were delicious. Several of us had the dragon me to the prewitt that was delicious. For food we had between all of us the corn dogs, hush puppies, roasted stuffed chicken, short rib bowl, and both desserts. We arrived here on a Friday at 5:45 without reservations and were seated immediately! There was one other couple at first but eventually the room started to fill fast. Front desk staff were very friendly. It was easy to get to the restaurant via the back of the building parking where parking was free! The ambiance was cute. It was like an old theater with a projector playing home alone. Music played overhead. The outside is beautiful. The marketing is great ie the logo, and outside sign and even the finer details like the to go bags! Our waiter was friendly enough; not much to it but adequate. We ordered our food. One appetizer, two entrees. The appetizer was ok. Our entrees were not good. We ordered a burger and the flavor just wasn't there. The steak as well just was mediocre and the truffle mash were dry. The fries were good though! The food in general was very underwhelming and unsatisfying. We ate only a couple of bites of our meal before we decided to just get the check and leave. Our appetizer and two entrees with tip came out to a little over $100. Seems very pricy for what we got. Great place for a great meal! The food was on point. I honestly had a difficult time deciding on what I wanted to order. The burrata appetizer was a great twist on the typical fried mozzarella. For the mains, I settled on the swordfish and it was well cooked and great flavor. My spouse had the sirloin and it was heartily enjoyed. The cocktails are unique and well worth a try. Our server - Joe - was knowledgeable of the menu, offered suggestions for drink and wine pairings based of the entree flavor profiles, and was amazing over all! Best service we've had in a long while. Please know the prices are not typical Plainfield prices but it's not your typical Plainfield restaurant. Regardless, so worth it. I was a little concerned based on previous reviews. However, we learned that the former chef has been replaced with a new executive chef and based on the the overall vibe and experience it seems to have made all the difference. We enjoyed our time and experience so much that we went back the next day for brunch -- also well worth the visit. There a a few different dining areas to settle into - the main room is set up in the former theater space and plays movies on the new big screen. There is live music on some nights. Boy oh boy I hope you come and try their brunch! The Prewitt is an old theater that was made as a restaurant and so you can expect the ambiance it's beautiful. They show old movies all the time (muted) while you eat and it feels great! Service was awesome and we made it after the brunch peak hour so we enjoyed our food a lot! I had their Greek omelet and my boyfriend had the steak and eggs(amazing btw) go try it! You won't regret it! read more

Wonderful place!! Had a girls night out last night and was so impressed with our drinks and service! Our waiter Joseph made the evening that much more memorable! A pricey place but totally worth it. Made a reservation and wanted to sit on rooftop. So we waited at bar and had a drink. The jazz was superb, martinis delightful. I had tomato bisque soup and fried pickles as appetizer.. again the server made our entire dining experience so fun!!!! read more

Went to The Prewitt for their grand opening lunch today. Finally.... a nice, upscale restaurant on the West side! The menu is a nice play on a movie script, given the history of The Prewitt, it's perfect. We started with a "preview" of steak and mushrooms, I had a lovely cocktail, S.B.N.T.S. (sweet but not too sweet) and my husband had a craft beer called White Rascal. For lunch I had the Fall Noodle Bowl and he had the CBR sandwich. Both were delicious. Our only criticisms are that the winter squash in the bowl was a little al dente and my husband would've preferred if the chicken breast had been a little thinner. Otherwise, the flavors were on point! The atmosphere was very welcoming. I like how they kept some of the old movie theater ties. There were three restrooms that I saw on the main floor and one that I saw upstairs. Bonus points for carrying feminine products in the bathroom! We can't wait to return! read more
