Great fine dining steakhouse with top-notch service from our server Dallas and his crew. Everything we had was great from start to finish. Steak Collinsworth is a staple of their menu and I can understand why. Steak melted like butter and was coated with 2 sauces and topped with crab meat. The butter pie at the end is a MUST, one of the best desserts I've ever had, was stuffed at ate the whole things... oops. I would recommend anyone to stop by and have a drink and take in the atmosphere. It's a beautiful place. The service is top notch. That said, we went for dinner last night. We shared a ribeye, had the Freddie salad, and got Mac and cheese, mushrooms, and creamed spinach. We had three drinks between the two of us. We got a free iced cookie cake for our anniversary. The salad was great if not just a touch drenched in ranch. The ranch was incredible though. The ribeye was good. Cooked well. It wasn't really seasoned though. It was not worth the $95 it cost. The Mac and cheese was good, but so rich a few bites would suffice. We took it home and had it again tonight and still couldn't finish it. The mushrooms had a strong horseradish taste, which was a bit off putting. The creamed spinach was incredible. By far the standout dish for us. I'm eating the leftover cookie right now. It held up. Always first class food and service at the Precinct. You have to plan ahead with reservations with a larger group, but I find that they do an amazing job with our annual group of 8 dinner. Service, ambience, food, drinks, total experience is top notch. New to us this visit - we tried the bone in pork chop and it was AMAZING. Service: expect the same service as the show the Bear where the front of staff was trained. Everyone from the waitress to the servers were all incredibly sociable, professional and funny. They are hiring the best people and training them so well. They run a tight ship and you can expect some of the best service of any Cincy restaurant here. They will accommodate requests and if you call ahead will make particular dishes for you. For example, my mom asked for chimichurri and although it wasn't on the menu they made it from scratch for her. The only thing I am confused about was after leaving this review i received the below comment saying that I should contact them. After doing so, I never got a reply. Strange. Ambiance: absolutely stunning & clean. Such a cool atmosphere and feel. I could imagine Ron Swanson from Parks & Rec being a regular there and fitting right at home. Food: 1. Max & cheese: they had me at 5 imported cheeses. Super dense and delicious. Pasta perfectly cooked. 2. Brussels: good not great 3. Complimentary salad: unreal. Small bacon bits provided a nice smokiness to the salad. Legit my favorite part of the meal. 4. Garlic mash potatoes: good not great 5. Steak: I got the spice rub to go on top and while it was spicy and flavorful, it got old after a few bites. The flavor of the delmonico steak was amazing but the temp by the time I got to the center was near raw. I however was stuffed and knew I would reheat it so didn't say anything. 6. Bread: fresh rye and sour dough. Can't go wrong with a little truffle butter. All in all, this was a classic steak house vibe, exceptional service. I feel like I don't even have to leave a review because... was it worth the hype: YES! Was it delicious, YES! Was it a special occasion of culinary entertainment, YES! Did the service I got make me feel like the King Jeff Ruby himself, YA YA YA! I ordered the Petite Filet Mignon and was pleased by the size and obviously cooked-to-perfection taste/ tenderness. As you'll always hear about say about The Precinct, I was then #blessed by the included side, which helped keep the costs down. My boyfriend got the Boneless Ribeye-- again, great choice! I don't think you could go wrong with anything. We ended with the Vanilla Bean Creme Brûlée which, YES it was worth buying dessert at this steakhouse. We dined on Saturday night @ 8:30 and didn't wait long for our table. The staff is incredibly friendly, including the host Jayden (I believe was her name) and our server Matt was just fantastic. Matt was knowledgeable, attentive, charismatic, and well-rounded. He took really good care of us. My friends and I have made this THE spot for every special occasion we have. All of us ordered filets. I requested the Steak Collinsworth after Matt informed us it was one of the most popular dishes and has been around since the 80's. It's their take on an Oscar style crowning. It was the best steak I ever had, probably ever will have, in my life. Melts in your mouth and you never want it to end. A swing and a miss for what's supposed to be a tried and true Cincinnati favorite. Woof were we disappointed -- it was a combination of the little things that made the entire experience lack luster. The only thing that was decent were the wait staff and the drinks; both the waitress and bus boy were so sweet and very accommodating, and the drinks were actually pretty good, but at $18/per, I hope the next diners are cheap dates. The restaurant vibe was like a dive bar. We sat at a high top table with barely enough elbow room to accommodate our plates and silverware, felt very exposed and un-intimate. Not the vibe for a date night. I'll say that we don't eat at steakhouses often because we can cook a better steak at home and for far cheaper. Our meal was $285 for soup (fine), salad (store bought croutons, brown lettuce, decent portion), an 8oz medium and very dry filet, a 12oz medium rare overcooked filet, creamed corn (served cold), brussel sprouts (served room temp), chili spread (a random cup of whole roasted chili peppers??), and horseradish (this was as it should have been). We went because we had a $200 gift card from our wedding a few years ago-- but we will not be going back and I suggest you don't waste your money. read more

Went for my 40th Birthday and as always it never disappoints. I wish that every restaurant had servers like Jeff Ruby. We sat in the bar which felt a little more casual than normal but the servers were attentive and Jordan the manager was making his rounds to ensure everyone was having a great experience. The food speaks for itself in the photos I have added. The oysters were fresh, the steak cooked perfect and I forgot that the precinct includes a salad, starch and asparagus. Apps Shrimp Cocktail - so flippin big! The cocktail sauce is very mild. Ask for some horseradish on the side to spice it up. Highly recommend. Pork Belly - so flavorful with great seasoning - highly recommend. Salad Wedge - ordered it chopped. Very good. Dressing was a bit heavy. Served with a thick cut slice of pork belly. So damn good Main 8oz Filet - medium rare, cooked perfectly. One of the best steaks I have ever had. Ordered with the mushroom/onion topping. Save your money. Not worth it. Served with asparagus. The asparagus was the only thing that was subpar. Seemed undercooked and flavorless. Sides Broccolini - best I have ever had. Made with black garlic and miso paste. The service level in the bar did not feel like fine dining which is understandable but I expected better service than what we received. It was also very loud in the bar. The food was great minus the oysters. We should have known better to not get oysters in the summer, even from a fine dining establishment, as they were not good. I've been going to precinct since mid 1980's and have alway's enjoyed food and service. Last night my wife and I and 2 children went for 31 year anniversary celebration. Service was extremely slow, we sat most of the time with empty glasses. The quality of the appetizers was sub par. We waited longer than normal for entrees to come out and every one was cool, not even warm. My wife and daughter ate one bite and took steaks home to heat and eat hot. lobster and seabass entrees were dry and cold. Management sent another lobster tail which was still cold and half raw. They did send out two desserts, but at this point we just wanted to leave.Like I said,we are long time customers and go there for special occasions.I really think our server had too many tables to give each one the proper service, which shouldn't happen in an upscale restaurant. Our server, Nicole, was so attentive and took great pride in her job, the wait staff was very discreet but were there when needed. Then came our appetizer. Yum, the crab cake was loaded with large chunks of delicious crab meat. We each also got a half portion of salad which were actually quite generous servings. For the entree we opted to split the Australian Wagyu New York Strip. It was melt in your mouth delicious! Done a perfect medium rare and was well seasoned. My son took me here for Mother's Day, and I really loved it. We started with a drink at the bar, and it's upstairs in a beautiful room. I think it used to be a dance club? Not sure, but much like a men's club with all the wooden trimmings. Then downstairs to a table. My son started with a bowl of seafood bisque, which was very delicious and very rich. He's a big boy but couldn't finish it, so had it packed up for the next day. Unlike the downtown Ruby's, every entree comes with a potato and salad. That's a nice touch to not have everything not be ala carte. Salads were well done and big...most of mine went home for the next day. But I needed to save room for the mandatory steak. And I was glad I did. Along with the loaded baked potato. For dessert they gave me a flourless chocolate cake for Mother's Day...that was a nice touch. My son had another fancy dessert which I can't remember, but I do remember it was great! . Nobody does it like Jeff Ruby! It's well worth the splurge...both in calories and cost.
