I came here to get a meal in this Los Altos neighborhood and I came across this American restaurant bar. It has both indoor and outdoor seating. There seemed to have enough patrons during the weekday lunch period from local workers looking for a business lunch and I also saw two families with kids. The restaurant had one server for all of the people, he had his hands full. There is a full bar and extensive wines and liquors to choose from, if you feel like a mid-day drink. There are five booths for 4 people, two tables for six, three tall tables for two, one tall table for four, and some tables for outdoor dining. The restaurant has easy listening music. It's a good place for a relaxing meal during your day. The menu is attached, with lunch specials. There is also a parking lot located behind the restaurant and available street parking in front. I would be comfortable coming here again with a few friends to socialize. The poki bowl was quite good, it hit the spot for me. There are three televisions in the restaurant for sports watching as well.

Chicken burger

Probably one of the top 5 fried chicken sandwiches and fries I've had in the bay area Very nice fresh puffy bun, big piece of Mary's chicken thigh seasoned, breaded, and fried to perfection, decent pickles inside giving acidity. Fries were fried nicely and crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside.

Nestled right in the heart of of the village area of downtown Los Altos on Main Street is "The Post"..drum roll please! This was my second visit, met a friend and we had lunch and it was super fantastic. Great array of food and drinks. I opted for the Mac & Cheese Burger which features...beef patty, mayo, tomato, grilled onion, arugula, bacon, fried mac & cheese ball, cheese sauce, brioche. At first when I heard the mac and cheese with the Burger, I was like.ah no", but guess what? I decided to go out on a whim, did it the rest is history...it was that good, no it was that great!! The service and staff and owners were great. Will I be back, you bet!! With comfort food like this..what are you waiting for!! The following are their hours. Our server Trixie was very nice. The food came out quickly, and the buffalo cauliflower was hot and crispy and perfectly cooked. My only complaint was that It took an incredibly long time to get the final bill.

Fettuccine Bolognese and spicy mango margarita

I really like this place! It's right across the street from my taiko lesson spot. They had plenty of seating and were able to accommodate our group of ten easily. The server was super nice and attentive. I love bolognese, so of course I had to get it -- it was delicious! I just wish they had offered to add some fresh cheese on top like other places do. I also got a spicy mango margarita, which was perfect -- not too sweet and not too strong. Hehe.

Mac & Cheese Balls

I tried The Post and it was pretty good. We got brussel sprouts and Mac and cheese balls for appetizers and both were good and the mac and cheese balls were plated very pretty. I would definitely re order the brussel sprouts. The spicy margarita was really good too. I got the pesto pasta for the main course but I didn't really like it and couldn't taste the pesto either. I like the ambiance inside the restaurant. The service was okay but could've been better. I came here on a Friday night and it says it's open late but the kitchen closes super early so we were very rushed both to order and finish our food and drinks.

Cobb Salad

Sitting around trying to decide on dinner, knowing I'm heading downtown, I thought I would order a salad on the way. I realize it's been years since I've been to the Post. So I called in a simple Cobb salad--nothing fancy. I show up, the guy hands me the card reader, charges my card, then immediately shoves the tip screen in my face as he grades my generosity real time. (FYI, I'm an over tipper) I asked him, hold on, this salad was $32? He says, "Well, not exactly... there's tax." Wow. Thank you, Einstein. Truly groundbreaking. Now because he's standing there holding the device like a hostage negotiator, I feel obligated to hit the highest tip option. Fine. Whatever. Just give me my overpriced lettuce. I walk out, check the actual menu, and see the Cobb salad is $26.50. So not only do they mark it up for call-in orders (+$3 US DOLLARS), but they basically trap you into a 20% guilt tip on top. And the salad? Mid. Extremely mid. (See picture.) So yes, I just paid $38 for a Cobb salad that tasted like it was assembled by someone who hates both salads and humanity. Meanwhile, literally down the street, every salad is under ten bucks and actually good. This is my first time ever posting something like this, but honestly... this level of robbery deserves a write-up. Not sorry for the rant.

I always said LA needed a speakeasy and I am so glad one opened up! The kicker? You need a reso so make sure you have one! We just happened to get lucky Check in at Cetrella and they will walk you back outside to an elevator where you need a code to access the elevator to the basement. Once the elevator doors open you walk down a long dark smoke filled corridor to the bar that awaits. Cool music playing BTW. Sat at the end of the bar instead of one of the many tables and was immediately handed a cocktail menu. Simple menu with carefully crafted cocktails that they do exceptionally well. - The Wolf noted as "milk punch" on the menu. The clarified refined version I am sure because the drink came with a light purplish hue instead of the milky concoction. Very well balanced and I can easily say one of the best milk punch cocktails I've ever had. - Smoked Old Fashioned. Again a very different technique than I am used to seeing. Instead of the entire cocktail being smoked, the glass was smoked before the spirits ever hit the glass. Again we'll balanced with a hint of orange essence. Bar food served if the kitchen is still open. And the service was good super attentative bar staff who carried a conversation with those close by. What a great addition to Los Altos and one I may bring my team back to after we dine at their restaurant Cetrella! So glad it popped up on my Yelp search because this place is definitely a hidden gem!!

I knew it was on California Ave. This was an old haunt of mine back when The Edge dance club was the place to be in this part of Palo Alto. Over the years I had still visited the area for its restaurants and the old camera store Keeble & Shuchat (closed for many years). Stepping into the very dark bar lit by small candles on the table I was immediately reminded at how old I was. It would say it was intimate, but it was a bit too loud to be that. However, it did have an intimate vibe. This joint's specialty (I assumed) was a menu full of house drinks. Sadly, I did not recognize any of them. I went with "You Should Try It" and it was fine. I could not describe what it tasted like, other than it was a mixed drink. My buddy ordered a "Vesper" but it didn't seem like the one Daniel Craig ordered in "Casino Royale". Service was okay and our server was very busy. Still, we got our drinks without having to wait too long. I had forgotten what it was like to go to a popular bar. Pic time.

My boyfriend and I celebrated our anniversary here and stayed at the hotel that evening. The food, service, and vibe were all wonderful. They even gifted us a dessert for our anniversary. We ordered the Disco Fries and the Branzino, which both came with pickled veggies. The food was so good that we cleaned our plates, including all the garnishes. After dinner, we went back to our room. I went to sleep around midnight, but my boyfriend stayed up. I was awoken at 3AM by a phone call from him; he was curled up on the toilet in pain from acute gastroenteritis. He was there for over an hour. I ran to the front desk for Imodium, but they didn't have any, so I had Imodium and electrolytes delivered via DoorDash. I even considered calling 911. We didn't sleep at all that night, as his stomach didn't settle until 6AM. Fortunately, I was okay. The front desk staff kindly granted us a late checkout because of our situation. Later, I researched what could cause such an upset stomach and found that high amounts of vinegar from pickled veggies can irritate the intestinal lining and cause acute gastroenteritis. We were so exhausted that it took us about two days to catch up on sleep. Overall, the experience was nice, but the aftermath definitely spoiled our anniversary.

Unfortunately, we left regretting that decision. From the start, the experience felt unwelcoming when we were seated with our 3-year-old daughter. There was no single overtly disrespectful moment, but the overall tone and repeated small interactions made us feel like we were being judged for having a child with us. At one point, when our daughter accidentally dropped her fork while playing, the reaction we received came across as frustration, which added to that feeling. We understand not every restaurant is designed for young children, but Broma presents itself as a place for friends and family. Instead, we felt like we had to constantly manage and overcorrect normal toddler behavior, which created stress and took away from what should have been a special occasion. Because of that, we didn't feel comfortable raising concerns during the meal when the server checked in--we were more focused on getting through the experience without drawing additional attention. We were also offered an off-menu item without any mention of price. The menu we were given did not list the smash burger, so when I ordered a double, I had no context for the cost. The final price was a surprise, and we would have made a different decision with that information upfront. The food itself did not match the price point. The "smash burger" was not prepared in the style typically expected, and overall the meal felt underwhelming for the cost. Lastly, the billing was confusing. The paper receipt listed "gratuity," while the digital receipt labeled the same charge as a "service charge," making it unclear whether an additional tip was expected. That lack of clarity does not align with the level of transparency expected at this price point. We don't mind paying for a great experience, especially for meaningful occasions, but this visit did not meet that standard and ultimately left us regretting our choice to celebrate here.
