The ambiance and atmosphere in here is amazing! The warm crab doughnuts were delicious - lots of lump crab meat in the dip. The shrimp fried rice was a little spicy but still delicious. The portion size was extremely amazing for the price. The waiter Steve was very friendly and attentive to our large party (12 of us - 2 children included). We even had a surprise engagement at our table after dinner was completed. The waiter was very patient with us. My overall experience was great and I would return again. Restaurant Interior: It was really nice to sit outside on the patio bar, which offered a beautiful view of the water. The seating was comfortable, and I appreciated being able to bring my laptop and work from the bar area--it made for a very relaxing experience. Service: Unfortunately, the service left a lot to be desired. Our female server had a noticeably negative attitude, which was disappointing given that we were simply trying to enjoy a relaxing afternoon and explore a new restaurant with colleagues. She seemed disengaged and gave the impression that she didn't want to be there. Additionally, her attire--wearing a scarf on her head and what appeared to be a lack of a proper uniform--felt unprofessional and contributed to the off-putting experience. The Point saved the day! If you've seen my review of Hen Quarter Prime next door, you already know how horrible that experience was--from the service to the food quality and overall execution. After such a disappointment, my friend and I decided to come to The Point, and it was the best decision we made that night. From the moment we walked in, the service was great. The kitchen stays open until 11 PM, so even though we arrived late, we were seated quickly and had no issues ordering food. The pizza? Absolutely amazing--flavorful, fresh, and exactly what we needed after the mess next door. We also ordered two Blackberry Bourbon Smashed Basil cocktails, and they were excellent--perfectly balanced and delicious. Huge shoutout to Derek, our bartender--he was AMAZING! Attentive, friendly, and quick, he made sure our drinks were perfect and that we had a great experience. The pricing was fair, the service was top-tier, and the overall vibe was just what we needed to turn the night around. After a rough start to my Friday night, The Point turned everything around. This is in a location that's pretty far out; for now. When Buzzard Point/Audi Field area is fully done; it won't feel as that much of a hike. I booked a private event here and I think it was probably the best experience I have ever had doing so. Matt and Oscar took great care of the group, as did all the rest of the staff. Everyone was helpful and friendly and really seemed to understand hospitality. Matt somehow anticipated my every need - every time I went looking for him, he was looking for me for the same reason or vice versa. The setting was lovely, right on the water with loads of colorful flowers throughout (not to mention aquatic cars, fireworks, and a marriage proposal - such excitement!). Just think, the Coast Guard gave this location up for an abandoned psychiatric hospital, which worked out quite well for The Point. The food and views are amazing, the service at the table is great. The front door staff is chaos as they don't have anyone dedicated to greeting people. Instead it's more like an Applebees or Chili's where you may have to wait a good bit before anyone acknowledges you even exist and wants to dine there. We went as a group of 6 after an amazing day of Futbol at Audi Field watching the Spirit play. Like breakfast this place will run you about $20-30 per person give or take what you order. Two in the group ordered the Bronzino and not a once of flesh or vegetable was left behind on the plate. It was cooked to perfection and served whole. You won't be disappointed with this classic Mediterranean dish. Two in the group ordered the crab cakes and they were hands down top 2 crab cakes I've ever had in my life in the region. Filled with lucious amounts of lump crab meat seasoned just right. No added non sense or breading, you got everything you wanted golden buttery melt in your mouth crab held together in its perfect shape ever so lightly. You can only get cakes like this in the Maryland/DC area or in your own home. As most give less crab, a ton of breadcrumbs and unnecessary bell peppers to cheapen the cost and sacrifice the crabs natural perfection in flavor. The vegetables are equally as good, cooked to the perfect temperature and having some texture to them. The potatoes were crisp outside and soft inside, the carrots had a firm bite with a soft inside and the green beans were cooked to have a good snap while being cooked and seasoned perfectly. Our Salmon guy from breakfast went with Chilean Sea Bass and it was cooked to perfection he barely talked during the meal as he cleaned his plate. Apparently the cornbread appetizer is great, my friend was worried about cost. It was his first time dining out with our group in places like this and we tried to convince him to order anything he wanted that it's taken care of. I will admit the cornbread was amazing, but in no way filling as it shouldn't be. I was sweet, yet charred just right and served with a nice amount of perfectly salted butter. The wine was solid as always, any parties of 6 or more people they automatically add the tip to the bill so be prepared as it will be more than you would expect a tip to be and they also charge a tip surcharge too. Then ask if you want to tip even more on top of what they put in your bill. Trust you don't need to the waiter is making a killing off what they pre-charge you. You also can't split the check, something else to consider when going and explains why during a diner rush time frame the place was empty dispute the food being amazing. You can pick to sit inside or outside on the water. Given it was chilly that day we sat inside but the water views are amazing. The place is worth a visit for the food and views. Not so much the employees front of house. The back of house is the magic to the place. read more

Enjoyed a few happy hour drinks at The Point. They have an amazing outdoor patio overlooking the water. Fire pit & with a handful of rocking chairs - super relaxing vibes! Wanted to do Friday dinner somewhere I've never been and ended up at The Point. The restaurant is very modern and nicely decorated - loved the lighting and plants around the dining room. I saw really good reviews for the wings and brussels sprouts, so I went with those. The wings were pretty good, I'd say 8/10. I love crispy brussels, but these were a bit overdone to me. I even asked our server if they usually look this black and he said no, and offered to bring me a new batch. The new batch looked identical. I decided to play it safe and switch to French fries. The fries were good, but absolutely not worth $10! There's a really cute patio overlooking the water and the marina. It was a cold night so I didn't go out, but there was a fire pit going. I ordered the Brussel sprouts, which were to die for, the Chesapeake oysters, and the spicy shrimp roll. Sushi isn't served until 5pm. The service could be better. When I was first seated, no one greeted us for 15 minutes until I had to ask "is there a server assigned to our table." Finally, someone came and it was better. Personally, I think it's weird when restaurants on have happy hour at the bar area only- due to the fact that there are occasions when there is not enough space. So once we found out we could do happy hour unless we were at the bar, we waited a while until space opened up. Other than that, everything turned out good. read more

Perfect for date night, groups, and there is even an area for large parties. Mini fire places dawn the outdoor seating area. For this dining experience I'd gone for a friends birthday we were a party of seven and sat outside. My favorite dishes were the clam chowder, crab donuts, Brussel sprouts and kale salad. My party was little underwhelmed with the roasted oysters and crab cake (a bit too much filler). We were greeted a couple of times by one of the managers - she was friendly and supportive in keeping the drinks going for the birthday girl. I'm told the drinks were on point. Unfortunately, when we arrived, we were told that the restaurant was no longer taking any walk-ins. Reservation only. That really placed a damper on dinner but it's ok, the amazing food, aesthetically pleasing ambiance and nice bartender made up for it. My group was able to snag a few booths at the bar. Pls be ware that if you sit in the booths at the bar, there is no one to come and service you - you will have to get up and open a tab at the bar and order your food. I wanted to LOVE this place with my whole heart but some things were just lacking. First the ambiance is absolutely amazing BUT it's next to the base. So great views for the sunset bet there will be helicopters ever so often. Eh take it or leave it. I was there on a fairly quiet night (Tuesday) but it's still a very beautiful space. We got the fried Brussels sprouts which is visually unappealing. The Crispy rice does absolutely nothing for the dish. They look like creepy crawlers and then are a very hard texture with no flavor. Outside of that the Brussels tasted really good. The wood grilled fish was cooked extremely well but lacked in flavor. More than smoked it tasted burnt. Lastly the seafood risotto was amazing in portion and flavor. There was even enough for me to have leftovers which once it sat in its flavors was too salty to enjoy on the second go round . Small changes would make this place absolutely amazing and I would love to come back and try again Oh and the Birthday Apple Pie situation was a very lovely Apple on top. Came her about a week ago with a friend of mine during the Cherry Blossom Festival. We had been walking for four hours so we were arrived early to our reservation. The dining area is gorgeous with a view right out into the water. Not very crowded, which was fine by us. The service was excellent, the food was even more so, and I even got to go back after a 2.5 hour dinner because I was dumb and accidentally left my credit card there. The food we had was tasty and I'd recommend the oysters, fish board, and crab cakes. The patio has a beautiful waterfront. Our only negative experiences were with the hostess; she was openly rude to us on a few different occasions. The rudeness came in benign moments, such as us asking if there is a changing table for our baby and asking to sit at a table with a working fan on the patio. It seemed like proactive rudeness. Parking was an absolute nightmare for my friend, and when I asked a Caucasian male employee about parking, he was dismissive. I had stomach discomfort immediately after eating here, and my friend had an allergic reaction. This experience was not worth the $160+ we paid. If only I could give this place zero stars. This has completely changed since the old days of DC past and truly for the better. I came here for a meet up with friends for Restaurant Week. The place was bustling with hungry eaters and folks looking to get a break from pandemic exhaustion. Upon walking in, you feel a relief with the cool vibe of a bright open space, neon lightings, open kitchen to catch all the action inside...while taking a moment to relax and enjoy the outdoor water views. The menu here definitely gets your attention at first glance. They have some complex dishes, along with simple dishes, and a few interesting items in the middle. The wood-fired plates are the star here....such as wood-fired grilled steaks, seafood and hearty vegetables. I opted to go in on the Restaurant Week three course, fixed price menu....and it did not disappoint!! For an easy $45 bucks, I was able to get a chef tasting and generous portion of intriguing menu of: APPETIZERS * Wood-Fired Grilled Oysters -- Fresh, juicy oysters with a good wood burning char and taste. * Crab-Dip Doughnuts -- Savory, buttery house-made doughnuts are stuffed with crab dip and coated in Old Bay. The flavors in the crab dip were definitely there, but I could have gone for the crab dip alone and maybe a few crackers (or mini-toast) on the side. The doughnuts were were too dense, like biscuits and not light-airy enough for me. It did not compliment the great crab dip. * Mahi-Mahi Tostados -- Grilled Fish like tacos with cabbage and a tomatillo avocado salad that right made this dish on point....and one to order on repeat! * PEI Mussells -- Steamed mussels in a coconut kimchi broth that makes this dish really bright and flavorful to the salty brine of the mussells. I not only killed the mussels but slurped every bit of the broth too. DINNER * Blackening Spiced BBQ Shrimp -- Hands down one of my favorite dishes here. We ended up ordering another plate! lol. The grilled shrimp was plump, juicy and full of blackening seasoning, charred tomatoes, fennel, and a killer cajun rice. * Grilled Short Ribs -- It was a good dish no complaints, other than it was a little overcooked for this "steak-lover" that only prefers beef medium to medium-well. DESSERT All this food, along with a house-made apple hot pocket and vanilla cream to top it all off for dessert. The the dessert satisfied the sweet tooth for sure. And, let's not leave out the drinks! We ordered plenty.....one word.....STRONG!!! lol In all, great food and vibe. I am definitely a fan and will be back. The plates and price point were great. The portions were more than enough food and there was plenty for everyone in my party to share....and take home. When the winter season breaks and the weather is nicer, the outdoor seating along the Anacostia will be my go-to for sure for some beer and oysters. We were thinking warm dough bites with crab dip on the side. Not exactly! It's warm crab dip baked inside of warm doughnuts sitting on top of crab dip. You read that right! And yes it's as good as it sounds. For entrees we went with the crispy shrimp Cobb salad, 2 of us ordered the roasted stuffed rockfish. The stuffed rockfish is served with white cheddar grits, braised red cabbage and Old Bay Chips. I could have done without the chips. Loved the grits, loved the cabbage, LIKED the rockfish. It needed seasoning and not just salt. I wouldn't ordered that again but would gladly try plenty other things on the menu. We loved the crispy shrimp Cobb salad but didn't care for the ranch it was served with. It was served warm and kinda flavorless, rather bland. I would order the salad again with different dressings. For drinks we had Gin Hendricks Martinis with blue cheese olives, margaritas, Old Fashions and zero compliment. Top notched! Heading back soon! read more

My friends and I visited The Point for brunch. We made a reservation in advance and we're seated upon arrival. The restaurant is located in a great location as it sits right on the water so the view was amazing. The restaurant was also decorated beautiful, and we definitely took advantage of the ambiance by taking lots of group photos and selfies! I will say that the most disappointing thing about our experience was the service. We waited 30 minutes after being seated before we flagged a worker down to grab a waitress for our table as no one was servicing us which was insane, especially given the added fees to the tab! I would also caution larger parties as they are not able to split checks. We were a party of 8 and we had to write the last 4 digits of our card number on the back of the check and use our calculators to add up each of our totals in order for the waitress to use all 8 of our cards as she expressed their system does not allow them to split checks. Everyone reported that their food was fairly subpar. The fan favorites were the crab doughnuts, calamari and mussels; however, the main brunch dishes were not all that great.
