Came for their happy hour. Sat at the outdoor bar and it was a nice scene. We ordered the Oysters, warm crab doughnuts and wings for apps. They were all very good. For dinner we ordered the shrimp fried rice with chicken, the steak frites and charbroiled oysters. Again, all was very good. The only thing is the fried rice was kinda of bland.
I love this place! Visited twice - once for date night and more recently for my birthday dinner! Pics are from both visits There's plenty of patio seating with a view of the Potomac and but we opted to sit inside for my bday as it was raining, muggy and had a bad smell. We were moved to a huge booth which gave us room to spread out We started with some cocktails - the El Diablo. They ran out of ginger beer for the cocktail so I opted for soda water which was perfect for cutting the sugariness of the blackberry purée. Oysters (from Canada, NY, DMV) , crab donuts and roasted beet salad were to die for. Everything was so fresh and flavorful. We had the crab cake, Maryland rockfish fillet & cod & crabmeat for entrees - well proportioned and delicious! We ended with an apple pie and a berry berry cheesecake as a special surprise. It also seems to be an after work hot spot - a lot of guests just come and grab a drink at the bar. This spot is a top option whenever I'm on this side of Navy Yard
My partner and I celebrated our anniversary at The Point DC, and it was a wonderful choice. We sat outside overlooking the water, and between the peaceful views, passing boats, and beautiful evening weather, the atmosphere was perfect for a special occasion. We started with the Soup of the Day, a shrimp chowder that was absolutely delicious. It was packed with fresh vegetables, especially sweet corn, and I was thrilled that there were no potatoes taking over the dish. We also ordered the Smoked Chicken Wings and Roasted Oysters, both of which were flavorful and prepared perfectly. For our entrées, we enjoyed the Shrimp Cobb Salad and a Caesar Salad with Blackened Salmon. Both were fresh, generously portioned, and satisfying. The shrimp were cooked perfectly, and the salmon had a great blackened seasoning without being overpowering. One feature I really appreciated is that The Point DC offers Menu Vision on Yelp. It allows guests to browse real photos of menu items before ordering, making it much easier to decide what to try. I wish more restaurants would take advantage of this feature because it truly enhances the dining experience. The only downside was dessert. We were hoping to end our anniversary with something sweet, but several desserts were unavailable, and the remaining options did not appeal to us. Fortunately, that was only a small hiccup in an otherwise fantastic evening. With its relaxing waterfront setting, fresh seafood, quality food, and inviting atmosphere, The Point DC is a great destination for date nights and celebrations. Overall: 8.7/10. I would absolutely return for another evening by the water.
The Point was an amazing place, it truly is waterfront and you can see many people having a great time outside. The food was absolutely fantastic, fresh off the grill and overall the taste was amazing. The atmosphere is good too, very nice looking place while I visited DC this past weekend! A pricier restaurant but a good one!
The inside and water view of this place was magical! But unfortunately the service here was lacking so much. Our server took a long time to get back to us after the initial meeting. Alongside the eggs benedict we ordered was cooked fully through and incorrect. The hostess was also over the place which was odd because the place wasn't packed at all. The saving grace was the amazing Chicken and Waffles which by far has been the best tasting and seasoned chicken so far. If you love seafood and views this could be a viable option.
I had such a great experience at The Point DC. From the moment I walked in, I was warmly greeted and had an excellent waitress and attentive servers throughout the night. Everyone was genuinely kind, and the food came out quickly. I started with the mussels and they were so good I had to order another round. That's how delicious they were. The sushi and sashimi were incredibly fresh, so fresh and flavorful. The seafood risotto was also absolutely delicious, and the cocktails were complex and well crafted. I loved the atmosphere and truly enjoyed every part of the experience. If I'm ever back in DC, I'll definitely return. Highly recommend.
Went to The Point DC for Restaurant Week and left feeling underwhelmed. The first course was the crab dip, which was creamy but surprisingly bland and lacked the seasoning you'd expect. The donuts served alongside sounded like an interesting pairing but they were very bland and didn't complement the dip at all. The second course, grilled branzino, was the clear standout. It was cooked perfectly, light, flaky, and well seasoned. Dessert was an apple hand pie. The filling was fine, but the pastry wasn't crispy, which made the ending fall flat. Overall, service and atmosphere were pleasant, but for me with only one of three dishes really delivering, the meal was just okay.
Love The Point! The service and the food here are great every time. Came here with a group of 7 for New Year's Eve dinner. I ordered the cod with crabmeat side of mashed potatoes and broccoli & cauliflower and it was delicious! Almost everyone at the table got a side Ceasar salad as well and the salads were to die for. Strongly recommend The Point for a date night or a gathering with friends.
Nice ambience! We sat at the fire pit for cocktails and enjoyed the people and the lively atmosphere l! Will be back for dinner!!
Visited this place while on vacation in D.C. It was suggested by a friend that lives near by. It was interesting getting there, not being familiar with the area it seemed like the UBER driver was taking us to a dead end street but once we got there it is very welcoming. We didn't have reservations but were able to be seated outside per our preference. The server came over right away and once we told her we weren't from the area and it was our first time, she offered many suggestions. The crab cake sandwich was one of her fav's and it was indeed very good. It wasn't like other crab cake sandwiches I have had in the past it was very little if any breading and was full of lump crab. The fries were amazing as well. We ordered smoked wings as a starter and man they were so good, you don't need any sauce on those things. There is a great view, the vibe was good, the food was good. It's a little pricey, but I understand it is probably typical for an East Coast restaurant. We took an UBER but it didn't seem like there was parking close, but not sure, check that out if that is a concern.
The point is a fun waterfront spot for happy hour and good bar fare. I've never dined in the restaurant but the bar is a great vibe for dining or dipping in along your walk along the water. I'm lucky that it happens to be on my route while walking my dog so I stop in from time to time. Very dog friendly space, and if you have good timing or patience, you should be able to get a spot easily. Bar staff are always busy but get to everyone quickly. A very good local spot.
My experience at the Point was subpar. The service was not the best and the food was just okay. I ordered the spicy tuna roll, grilled cornbread, short rib, and the watermelon jalapeño margarita. The spicy tuna roll and grilled cornbread were on point! The sushi seemed really fresh. The short rib was just okay, not super flavorful. I did enjoy the mashed potatoes that accompanied it. The margarita seemed watered down to me so I did not enjoy it. The inside of the restaurant has a nice vibe to it! I would definitely try this place out for happy hour prior to indulging in a full dinner.
The Point is an seafood restaurant with an open air patio, fire pits and panoramic views. They have HH M-F 4-7 at the bars inside and outside. Since I sat at the bar the service was good and I can't speak for the service in the dining room. They have a great HH menu with a wide variety of options for both food and drinks at reasonable prices. I really enjoyed the shrimp and short ribs.
The last time I was here, it was a super special occasion! Second time, was even more special! Why not come back and enjoy the place where life changed for me. 3 months and we are running it back! Salmon: The Filet was Huge! Veggies were good! Roasted Oysters: THEY ARE GOOD. Too Good actually! Steak Frites: Very Tasty fries were excellent. Overall, the Point is just okay. Would I go back on my own? No. Would I go back if the people I was with wanted to go? Sure. I came here with a group of 8, and the wait was only about 5 minutes. When we first got there it wasn't really crowded, but by the time we left around 7PM it was packed. Once we were seated, we were immediately greeted by our server. But after that, it became very hit or miss in seeing our server. I'm not sure what was going on, but we definitely didn't have as many check ins as we would have liked. The food was okay. I got a salad and oysters instead of an entree. The salad was just a normal salad and the oysters were like a 8 out of 10. Everyone else said their food was okay, but no one really LOVED their food. read more

I came here to meet friends for a few drinks. Jay was our bartender and she was outstanding!! She was helpful, professional, attentive, kind and professional. One of the best kept secrets. I love going to the Point. No matter the occasion, it accommodate it all. From happy hours, to private events, to family outings, it has it all. Love exploring the menu and try different things. My favorites.m are the smoked wings, crab donut, and the rockfish and grits. This place is absolutely gorgeous. It is hidden though - literally is in the back of the Audi Stadium. We actually got great timing for dinner, the place was half empty. The food was great, and I love me a large portion size which they absolutely nailed. We had a full 3 course meal and from Apps to Desserts everything was pretty good. We went to celebrate a birthday and unfortunately the waitress didn't seem like she wanted to serve us. I also requested special accommodations as in candled dessert and or a name on the menu but no one reached out to confirm. That was kinda a bummer but all in all it wasnt too bad. read more
Service is lacking. Food is decent. Parking kinda sucks. Last time we were here the menu we wanted hadn't started yet so check the times that they offer different food. We made reservations on a Saturday night and it was relatively empty there so probably didn't need to. The hostess told us to get seated but we weren't acknowledged by our server for probably about 20 minutes because no one at the front probably communicated to the wait staff. Our orders took awhile and it was hard to get our server's attention to get another drink. Definitely don't expect to be in and out here (maybe they were shortstaffed that night?) The grilled oysters were good. Risotto was a bit too heavy. The Crab donuts were good but wish there was a bit more donut to dip into the dip. read more

I hadn't visited the Point in over 2 years and when I say they have nit missed a beat!!! They have not !!! Everything was so On Point! Pun intended!! i strolled in there after a busy work day per usual because thats when im the absolutely hungrier lol. It was toward the end if the night but I still had about 40 minutes until the kitchen closed. I ended up sitting at the bar because the outside bar was a little crowded and this was my "me time". Paola was my bartender/server ( hopefully I'm spelling her name correctly). She was super sweet and professional. She explained some of the items to me and I went with my favorite- branzino. I got it grilled eith mashed potatoes and asparagus. I also tried the grilled cornbread which was AMAZING!!! I asked her to make me a mocktail since I no longer drink alcohol and she whipped up a tasty virgin blackberry mojito ! So rich but so good!!! Everything was amazing I missed that place and will be going back soon. The music was chill. The volume wasn't loud. The place was immaculately clean. Everything was perfect, even the parking! I used the lot a block over which is a very short walk. It was free but during events and games there is a cost. I could also hear ppl playing their music from outside as I walked to and from the restaurant from the lot.. they were docked on their boats. The whole vibe was just cool. The ambiance and atmosphere in here is amazing! The warm crab doughnuts were delicious - lots of lump crab meat in the dip. The shrimp fried rice was a little spicy but still delicious. The portion size was extremely amazing for the price. The waiter Steve was very friendly and attentive to our large party (12 of us - 2 children included). We even had a surprise engagement at our table after dinner was completed. The waiter was very patient with us. My overall experience was great and I would return again. The only issue would we the high pricing for parking. We paid $50 to park in the garage. read more

Awesome restaurant! It's right by the water and kind of private because of the corner it's located in. This place has a lot of seafood options. The service was great. It was very lively in there and they played a variety of songs making it enjoyable for everyone. It's also kid friendly. read more
I came for brunch with a friend and the ambiance and view were wonderful -- beautiful views of the water, music was popping, lighting was gorgeous, there's a lovely outdoor bar, and there were heat lamps for outdoor seating. The service was very attentive and they kept coming to check on us. The food itself was okay... For the crab donuts, the donuts were good- lightly sweet, very savory, crusty, and warm- but the crab was too salty. And the catfish sandwich that I ordered was a good level of crispy but devoid of flavor. I wasn't super satisfied with the food, especially at the price point. However, I think this is a great place to grab drinks in the evenings or on the weekend! read more
This is in a location that's pretty far out; for now. When Buzzard Point/Audi Field area is fully done; it won't feel as that much of a hike. I ate at the bar and the staff was attentive and friendly. I had the pasta dish and it was DELISH! It tasted super fresh and flavorful. Take the trip, it's worth it! read more

The Point is always a good time. The menu never disappoints. Whether you want seafood or burgers or pizza it's something there for your appetite. The bar will always be popular but you can easily get a reservation. If you sit outside the views of the river is very relaxing. read more

Restaurant Interior: It was really nice to sit outside on the patio bar, which offered a beautiful view of the water. The seating was comfortable, and I appreciated being able to bring my laptop and work from the bar area--it made for a very relaxing experience. Service: Unfortunately, the service left a lot to be desired. Our female server had a noticeably negative attitude, which was disappointing given that we were simply trying to enjoy a relaxing afternoon and explore a new restaurant with colleagues. She seemed disengaged and gave the impression that she didn't want to be there. Additionally, her attire--wearing a scarf on her head and what appeared to be a lack of a proper uniform--felt unprofessional and contributed to the off-putting experience. Overall, the poor service would deter me from returning. Food: The food, however, was excellent--definitely a 10 out of 10. The portions were generous, and everything was full of flavor. The crab cake was impressively large, and the crab dip was packed with plenty of crab meat. read more

It's hard to imagine this was once the home of U.S. Coast Guard headquarters. Just think, the Coast Guard gave this location up for an abandoned psychiatric hospital, which worked out quite well for The Point. The view certainly sets this location apart from other venues in the area Dishes are fresh, well prepared and with a strong focus on seafood. Service was solid, but not remarkable. I took a friend here for his birthday and it was a great time. Atmosphere was inviting and our waitress was friendly. The place looked very clean. We ordered crab donuts and they were delicious, the drinks were very strong. My favorite dish was the seafood risotto. Hands down the best one I have ever had! This item alone was enough for me to come back again. The lemon herb chicken was nothing special, it was very bland and I would steer clear from it but aside from that check this place out after a DC UNITED soccer match ! read more

Wait there for Sunday brunch looking for a place to have Sunday brunch this place was recommended and after reading the reviews on yelp decided to give it a try the location was wonderful views of the river. The service was fantastic. The food was very good. We all shared various entrées on their brunch menu.; Calamari lobster bisque short ribs with eggs smoked wings. All were very delicious. read more

Impromptu dinner date and wanting to dine by the water I revisited this gem. The ambiance alone was a big part of the dining experience. We were promptly seated and greeted with a delightful waitress who helped us make meal selections that did not disappoint. Be prepared to pay for parking but an experience indeed! read more

Food- we got a bunch of dishes to share and each was lovely. Shrimp salad was fresh and filling. Crab cake entree was legit crab and loved the sides. Crab donuts was tasty. My favorite was the fish board. It was a great mix of different types of fish both hot and cold and well presented. We came for lunch but I'm looking forward to coming for dinner and trying the Brussel sprouts and a few other dishes. Service- David took good care of us. Vibe- lots of natural light. Simple decor. Great outdoor space on the water. Clean and well designed with many seating options and rooms. Parking- we found street parking but we were told you can park in the garage(one free hour and $4 otherwise?!), or the paved part of the marina parking. read more

Wanted to do Friday dinner somewhere I've never been and ended up at The Point. The restaurant is very modern and nicely decorated - loved the lighting and plants around the dining room. I saw really good reviews for the wings and brussels sprouts, so I went with those. The wings were pretty good, I'd say 8/10. I love crispy brussels, but these were a bit overdone to me. I even asked our server if they usually look this black and he said no, and offered to bring me a new batch. The new batch looked identical. I decided to play it safe and switch to French fries. The fries were good, but absolutely not worth $10! There's a really cute patio overlooking the water and the marina. It was a cold night so I didn't go out, but there was a fire pit going. I'd probably come back for drinks/happy hour. read more
This restaurant is on the water and most restaurants like that, you pay for the view as far as menu prices. But I was satisfied with my food. I ordered the Brussel sprouts, which were to die for, the Chesapeake oysters, and the spicy shrimp roll. Sushi isn't served until 5pm. The service could be better. When I was first seated, no one greeted us for 15 minutes until I had to ask "is there a server assigned to our table." Finally, someone came and it was better. Personally, I think it's weird when restaurants on have happy hour at the bar area only- due to the fact that there are occasions when there is not enough space. So once we found out we could do happy hour unless we were at the bar, we waited a while until space opened up. Other than that, everything turned out good. read more
The Point gets five stars for location and ambiance alone. Nestled on the pier facing the water it's the perfect venue. There is indoor and outdoor seating. Perfect for date night, groups, and there is even an area for large parties. Mini fire places dawn the outdoor seating area. For this dining experience I'd gone for a friends birthday we were a party of seven and sat outside. My favorite dishes were the clam chowder, crab donuts, Brussel sprouts and kale salad. My party was little underwhelmed with the roasted oysters and crab cake (a bit too much filler). We were greeted a couple of times by one of the managers - she was friendly and supportive in keeping the drinks going for the birthday girl. I'm told the drinks were on point. And the cod sandwich was also a hit. Overall, it was really nice dining experience. I'd certainly stop by again! read more

Cool vibe, trendy space....with some of the best DC waterfront views and food to match! The Point DC is a welcomed eating spot and drinking well....to once desolate area of DC where it was definitely suspect and known as not one of the best parts of DC to be caught hanging around in. This has completely changed since the old days of DC past and truly for the better. I came here for a meet up with friends for Restaurant Week. The place was bustling with hungry eaters and folks looking to get a break from pandemic exhaustion. Upon walking in, you feel a relief with the cool vibe of a bright open space, neon lightings, open kitchen to catch all the action inside...while taking a moment to relax and enjoy the outdoor water views. The menu here definitely gets your attention at first glance. They have some complex dishes, along with simple dishes, and a few interesting items in the middle. The wood-fired plates are the star here....such as wood-fired grilled steaks, seafood and hearty vegetables. I opted to go in on the Restaurant Week three course, fixed price menu....and it did not disappoint!! For an easy $45 bucks, I was able to get a chef tasting and generous portion of intriguing menu of: APPETIZERS * Wood-Fired Grilled Oysters -- Fresh, juicy oysters with a good wood burning char and taste. * Crab-Dip Doughnuts -- Savory, buttery house-made doughnuts are stuffed with crab dip and coated in Old Bay. The flavors in the crab dip were definitely there, but I could have gone for the crab dip alone and maybe a few crackers (or mini-toast) on the side. The doughnuts were were too dense, like biscuits and not light-airy enough for me. It did not compliment the great crab dip. * Mahi-Mahi Tostados -- Grilled Fish like tacos with cabbage and a tomatillo avocado salad that right made this dish on point....and one to order on repeat! * PEI Mussells -- Steamed mussels in a coconut kimchi broth that makes this dish really bright and flavorful to the salty brine of the mussells. I not only killed the mussels but slurped every bit of the broth too. DINNER * Blackening Spiced BBQ Shrimp -- Hands down one of my favorite dishes here. We ended up ordering another plate! lol. The grilled shrimp was plump, juicy and full of blackening seasoning, charred tomatoes, fennel, and a killer cajun rice. * Grilled Short Ribs -- It was a good dish no complaints, other than it was a little overcooked for this "steak-lover" that only prefers beef medium to medium-well. DESSERT All this food, along with a house-made apple hot pocket and vanilla cream to top it all off for dessert. The the dessert satisfied the sweet tooth for sure. And, let's not leave out the drinks! We ordered plenty.....one word.....STRONG!!! lol In all, great food and vibe. I am definitely a fan and will be back. The plates and price point were great. The portions were more than enough food and there was plenty for everyone in my party to share....and take home. When the winter season breaks and the weather is nicer, the outdoor seating along the Anacostia will be my go-to for sure for some beer and oysters. But, in the meantime I'll take the chill, inviting vibe of the inside for now. Two Thumbs up for this place and I recommend a visit for sure! read more
We arrived 15 minutes before our reservations. I loved the ambiance. The natural plants and aesthetic was Def my type of vibe. It took our server a little bit to get to our table. Not her fault it was a bit busy. The oysters were TOP TIER! The reason for the 3/5 is that one of our entrees came out before the appetizers we really wanted our appetizers but it is what it is.
