Came for their happy hour. Sat at the outdoor bar and it was a nice scene. We ordered the Oysters, warm crab doughnuts and wings for apps. They were all very good. For dinner we ordered the shrimp fried rice with chicken, the steak frites and charbroiled oysters. Again, all was very good. The only thing is the fried rice was kinda of bland.
I love this place! Visited twice - once for date night and more recently for my birthday dinner! Pics are from both visits There's plenty of patio seating with a view of the Potomac and but we opted to sit inside for my bday as it was raining, muggy and had a bad smell. We were moved to a huge booth which gave us room to spread out We started with some cocktails - the El Diablo. They ran out of ginger beer for the cocktail so I opted for soda water which was perfect for cutting the sugariness of the blackberry purée. Oysters (from Canada, NY, DMV) , crab donuts and roasted beet salad were to die for. Everything was so fresh and flavorful. We had the crab cake, Maryland rockfish fillet & cod & crabmeat for entrees - well proportioned and delicious! We ended with an apple pie and a berry berry cheesecake as a special surprise. It also seems to be an after work hot spot - a lot of guests just come and grab a drink at the bar. This spot is a top option whenever I'm on this side of Navy Yard
My partner and I celebrated our anniversary at The Point DC, and it was a wonderful choice. We sat outside overlooking the water, and between the peaceful views, passing boats, and beautiful evening weather, the atmosphere was perfect for a special occasion. We started with the Soup of the Day, a shrimp chowder that was absolutely delicious. It was packed with fresh vegetables, especially sweet corn, and I was thrilled that there were no potatoes taking over the dish. We also ordered the Smoked Chicken Wings and Roasted Oysters, both of which were flavorful and prepared perfectly. For our entrées, we enjoyed the Shrimp Cobb Salad and a Caesar Salad with Blackened Salmon. Both were fresh, generously portioned, and satisfying. The shrimp were cooked perfectly, and the salmon had a great blackened seasoning without being overpowering. One feature I really appreciated is that The Point DC offers Menu Vision on Yelp. It allows guests to browse real photos of menu items before ordering, making it much easier to decide what to try. I wish more restaurants would take advantage of this feature because it truly enhances the dining experience. The only downside was dessert. We were hoping to end our anniversary with something sweet, but several desserts were unavailable, and the remaining options did not appeal to us. Fortunately, that was only a small hiccup in an otherwise fantastic evening. With its relaxing waterfront setting, fresh seafood, quality food, and inviting atmosphere, The Point DC is a great destination for date nights and celebrations. Overall: 8.7/10. I would absolutely return for another evening by the water.
The Point was an amazing place, it truly is waterfront and you can see many people having a great time outside. The food was absolutely fantastic, fresh off the grill and overall the taste was amazing. The atmosphere is good too, very nice looking place while I visited DC this past weekend! A pricier restaurant but a good one!
The inside and water view of this place was magical! But unfortunately the service here was lacking so much. Our server took a long time to get back to us after the initial meeting. Alongside the eggs benedict we ordered was cooked fully through and incorrect. The hostess was also over the place which was odd because the place wasn't packed at all. The saving grace was the amazing Chicken and Waffles which by far has been the best tasting and seasoned chicken so far. If you love seafood and views this could be a viable option.
I had such a great experience at The Point DC. From the moment I walked in, I was warmly greeted and had an excellent waitress and attentive servers throughout the night. Everyone was genuinely kind, and the food came out quickly. I started with the mussels and they were so good I had to order another round. That's how delicious they were. The sushi and sashimi were incredibly fresh, so fresh and flavorful. The seafood risotto was also absolutely delicious, and the cocktails were complex and well crafted. I loved the atmosphere and truly enjoyed every part of the experience. If I'm ever back in DC, I'll definitely return. Highly recommend.
Went to The Point DC for Restaurant Week and left feeling underwhelmed. The first course was the crab dip, which was creamy but surprisingly bland and lacked the seasoning you'd expect. The donuts served alongside sounded like an interesting pairing but they were very bland and didn't complement the dip at all. The second course, grilled branzino, was the clear standout. It was cooked perfectly, light, flaky, and well seasoned. Dessert was an apple hand pie. The filling was fine, but the pastry wasn't crispy, which made the ending fall flat. Overall, service and atmosphere were pleasant, but for me with only one of three dishes really delivering, the meal was just okay.
Love The Point! The service and the food here are great every time. Came here with a group of 7 for New Year's Eve dinner. I ordered the cod with crabmeat side of mashed potatoes and broccoli & cauliflower and it was delicious! Almost everyone at the table got a side Ceasar salad as well and the salads were to die for. Strongly recommend The Point for a date night or a gathering with friends.
Nice ambience! We sat at the fire pit for cocktails and enjoyed the people and the lively atmosphere l! Will be back for dinner!!
Visited this place while on vacation in D.C. It was suggested by a friend that lives near by. It was interesting getting there, not being familiar with the area it seemed like the UBER driver was taking us to a dead end street but once we got there it is very welcoming. We didn't have reservations but were able to be seated outside per our preference. The server came over right away and once we told her we weren't from the area and it was our first time, she offered many suggestions. The crab cake sandwich was one of her fav's and it was indeed very good. It wasn't like other crab cake sandwiches I have had in the past it was very little if any breading and was full of lump crab. The fries were amazing as well. We ordered smoked wings as a starter and man they were so good, you don't need any sauce on those things. There is a great view, the vibe was good, the food was good. It's a little pricey, but I understand it is probably typical for an East Coast restaurant. We took an UBER but it didn't seem like there was parking close, but not sure, check that out if that is a concern.
The point is a fun waterfront spot for happy hour and good bar fare. I've never dined in the restaurant but the bar is a great vibe for dining or dipping in along your walk along the water. I'm lucky that it happens to be on my route while walking my dog so I stop in from time to time. Very dog friendly space, and if you have good timing or patience, you should be able to get a spot easily. Bar staff are always busy but get to everyone quickly. A very good local spot.
My experience at the Point was subpar. The service was not the best and the food was just okay. I ordered the spicy tuna roll, grilled cornbread, short rib, and the watermelon jalapeño margarita. The spicy tuna roll and grilled cornbread were on point! The sushi seemed really fresh. The short rib was just okay, not super flavorful. I did enjoy the mashed potatoes that accompanied it. The margarita seemed watered down to me so I did not enjoy it. The inside of the restaurant has a nice vibe to it! I would definitely try this place out for happy hour prior to indulging in a full dinner.
The Point is an seafood restaurant with an open air patio, fire pits and panoramic views. They have HH M-F 4-7 at the bars inside and outside. Since I sat at the bar the service was good and I can't speak for the service in the dining room. They have a great HH menu with a wide variety of options for both food and drinks at reasonable prices. I really enjoyed the shrimp and short ribs.
The Ohio Leadership Reception was held here during CBC Week. The restaurant sits right by the water, offering picturesque views of it and the boats and yachts. The restaurant is large, with seating inside and outside on the balcony. The bartenders did a commendable job of managing such a large group, especially for an open bar event. The highlights from brunch were the shrimp and grits, scrambled eggs, fried chicken, salmon and eggs benedict on english muffins, and the french toast. read more

This is my second time coming here and visiting the patio bar. The first time was on a Saturday afternoon as part of a bar crawl. The second was this past week on Wednesday during happy hour and both times were at the patio bar. Both times the customer service from the bartenders were terrible. I waited a long time just to be acknowledged and to get a water and menu as I watched other people who arrived after me get served. I also asked if I could modify my food order to accommodate my allergies and was told yes. But the plate arrived with all the items I requested to have removed. I ordered a soda warranty with lime that I never finished. I stayed about 30 minutes ans left because the experience was awful. Save your time and money! read more
"Still Making A Point" Months later and I decided to return to "The Point" for Happy Hour... and once again I was definitely satisfied on every level. The atmosphere was bubbly and filled with awesome energy from the patrons. The music was soothing, but not too loud at all... and the service at the bar area came with a cool, professional touch to it !!! ( And the scenery is second to none and brings an amazing vibe to the overall experience !! ) As an oyster lover, I took advantage of the $1 HH special ( and ordered me a 15 count of nice sized, fresh oysters ) to complement them, I set sail on the grilled lobster with broccoli & potatoes. And once I added their flavorful ranch dressing to the vegetables the dish created quite the buzz with my taste buds. The Lobster was juicy and had a savory taste to it... definitely a smash hit all around the board !!! ** If the meal came with any blemishes it was the lemonade.... The food was great but the service ? Not so good we went in on a Wednesday evening and there were maybe 5 other tables one a large group the other 2 people and a full bar outside of 7-8 guest. The service after our appetizers was extremely slow. I would say it took about 20 minutes to get our drinks though one was missing and maybe another 40-45 minutes after that to get our food. After finishing our food another 25 or so to get desert and the bill. The crabcakes were great no filler and very filling. The crab donuts were basically a a sweet bread with a bowl of crab dip and it was amazing. I would definitely prefer maybe 4-5 pieces of the "donut". The sushi options are limited and sadly no crab option but the shrimp Tempura was pretty average not sure it's necessary for them to serve sushi here. The apple pie was amazing it was like an empanada and was served with ice cream which to me was the best part. The branzino was seasoned well and cooked to perfection read more
Located near the water, it has a decent view. 1. Drinks: not so good. But if you stick with beer, it is fine. 2. Food: I am not so fond of fried oysters, but people like it. GREAT Valentine's dinner (and 7th Anniversary celebration for one of the couples) for our party of 8. No complaints about the service (shout out to Pablo!), ambience, cocktails or MOST of the appetizers and entrees. The Japanese style fried chicken appetizer, sushi, salmon, seafood risotto, fennel sausage/onion pizza, smoked half chicken, and crab cakes were a hit. The lamb chops were a joke ... charging $45 for 3 lollipops is diabolical! The shrimp fried rice looked amazing but got 2 thumbs down for overall flavor and the calamari was a tad too crispy but not a deal breaker. The Valentine's menu was super cute. Those who ordered the Valentine's Day signature cocktails Point Punch and Hanky Panky were super pleased! (Cannot believe I missed pics of the cocktails!) Another MINOR complaint ... we just come here too much. Would love for our couples group to find their sense of adventure again butttt just being together is always a pleasure and a blessing. On a side note ... with it being Valentine's Day ... we enjoyed watching all the outfits and flowers and overall fan fare with the new couples that came in. read more
I recently went here with my mom and it was such a nice experience! The staff was attentive and kind! The bathroom and dining areas were clean! The food unfortunately was super mid! Not much flavor or seasoning. My catfish tasted like cod and was falling apart! It was a horrible sandwich smh! I was irritated about that but the drinks made up for it! It was sooooo good! I'll definitely visit again I just have to try different menu items! I always hear good things about The Point so I'll give it a few more chances. read more
The Point is a huge restaurant and bar on the water in the new neighborhood of Buzzard Point. There is ample seating indoor and outdoor. It seems like a great place to host a party! The decor is cute and modern inside. And outside, you have the beautiful view of the river. We tried some cocktails and appetizers. I had the Smokin' Fig cocktail. I really liked it, but it was definitely on the sweeter side. We ate some oysters, calamari, sushi and shrimp cocktail. Overall, we thought the food was good! The calamari was heavily breaded, though, and we prefer a higher squid to batter ratio. The service got slower as the place became busier. We did have to flag the waiter down after a while because she disappeared for an extended period and we wanted to get the check. Overall, a good experience with the food and service (with some room for improvement). I'd say 3.5 stars if I could! I think the Point is worth checking out! read more
My family had an early dinner at The Point to kick over our New Year's Eve. When we arrived at 5pm, the restaurant wasn't crowded at all. My favorite items were the calamari, cornbread, crab cakes and Point Punch:) Shout out to our server Lillani! I would highly recommend going here, especially when it's warmer and you can sit outside and take in the beautiful views. read more

Extraordinary dining experience! We loved this restaurant south of the Waterfront metro stop. The crab donuts were an awesome and very unique appetizer. I loved the fish with crab on top and the apple pie for dessert. Service was attentive and kind, and the restaurant has beautiful indoor and outdoor areas! read more

Sunset oysters and a drink? Come over for happy hour specials, the outdoor bar offers sports on the TV's and some light music. Plenary of seating outdoors to watch the sunset, the marina and take advantage pot the fire pit. Staff are attentive at the bar, not at the fire pit area (Self Serve) read more

Everytime I've been here it's always been a good time! Today my babe and I came for brunch for our anniversary. We ordered all appetizers since this was our first time there for brunch. The cheesy grits were delicious wanted more lol! The crab donuts were different I give them a 3.5 out of 5. Loved the eggs and the salmon was cooked to perfection! Oh we also ordered the cornbread and I'm glad we did! They always have amazing oysters! The service was great! I forgot the young lady's name but she was good! Any restaurant on or by the water is a yes for me! I always recommend this place and now since I've had their brunch yesssss please check them out! read more

Awesome restaurant! It's right by the water and kind of private because of the corner it's located in. This place has a lot of seafood options. The service was great. It was very lively in there and they played a variety of songs making it enjoyable for everyone. It's also kid friendly. read more
A solid restaurant with a lovely view of the water and casual atmosphere! A great place to go with a group since they have a lot of options on the menu! The sandwiches were all good choices, but maybe try something new like the soup of the day! Cornbread is also a great get. The last time I was here, it was a super special occasion! Second time, was even more special! Why not come back and enjoy the place where life changed for me. 3 months and we are running it back! Salmon: The Filet was Huge! Veggies were good! Roasted Oysters: THEY ARE GOOD. Too Good actually! Steak Frites: Very Tasty fries were excellent. Crab cake: Good wish I would have ordered two and not one. Roasted Chesapeake Rockfish with crab: Yummy! read more
