This place will impress you the moment you walk in the door. Be open at atmosphere and more stunning is a cherry blossom decorations. The decor was warm, thoughtfully designed, and inviting! I normally prefer to eat outside. But the interior decorations are so beautiful. We ended up eating inside. The food is the real star here. Everything we ordered was excellent -- well-seasoned, beautifully presented, and clearly made with care. The hang over board was excellent if you are hung over. Or just hungry. The menu says it's good for 2 to 3 people. However, I think it's just enough for two people. Bonus points for being baby and toddler kid-friendly a rare balance of classy and supportive that parents will appreciate. Pricing is fair for what you get, especially given the Wharf location. The staff were warm, attentive, and knowledgeable without being overbearing -- exactly what you'd hope for Daniel was very helpful and attentive. He could pick up that my mom did not like her mimosa. He offered to exchange the drink. Which he did. On that note: the cocktails were quite sweet! If you prefer spirit-forward or more balanced drinks, it's worth asking your server for a recommendation or tweaking to taste! I got the express martini and it was super sweet. Too sweet for me to finish. Overall a solid experience!

Stopped by the new Urban Roast at the Wharf! It's a different vibe from the original location in Penn Quarter/Chinatown! Was hard to find at first. They're on the other side of Zooz! There's several igloos set up outside. The inside is cute with the holiday decor. We sat at the bar and had a few espresso martinis. Our bartender, Marlon, was professional and nice. I would visit again, but not in a hurry!

In Kind Dining Pick Let me start by saying: I already knew Urban Roast downtown was more about vibes than victuals. An experience, not a meal. Still, I had hope--dangerous, I know--because this is a brand-new location in one of the busiest parts of town. Surely they'd get it right... right? Wrong. I came here Saturday night with a friend because we promised ourselves a girls' night before the year ends. She picked the place, I showed up with optimism and a reservation for 7:30 PM. Our table was ready at 9:30 PM. Yes. Two full hours later. At that point we were emotionally seated, just not physically. I waited at the bar for my friend (who was running late) thinking, "By the time she gets here, we'll be seated." Cute thought. We ended up spending the entire night at the bar, making peace with disappointment and ordering appetizers--each one worse than the last, which honestly takes talent. Dynamite Shrimp Perfectly cooked shrimp absolutely buried under enough onion flakes to qualify as a French onion soup starter. I like onions. I do not like surprise onion avalanches . Guacamole & Chips Guacamole should never be blended or puréed. This tasted like every ingredient was thrown into a blender because no one felt like mashing--like the aunties used to do in real time at Whole Foods. The chips? The cheapest of the cheap. Just buy Tostitos in bulk and call it a day. Also... where was the citrus? Wings So gross. How does anyone manage to make wings dry and crispy on the outside and mushy on the inside. Boiled? Steamed? Then punished? Smokehouse Beef Brisket Dip This arrived looking like creamed chipped beef your grandparents ate--except... minus the beef. Just a mysterious white, greasy soup that refused to stick to the chips. Isn't that literally the job of dip? After 4-5 sad dunks, we sent it back and asked for it to be removed from the bill, citing the very vague description and a misunderstanding but we very surprised and grossed out. So what did we enjoy for $163? The drinks. And the decor--what little we could see from the bar, since our backs were facing everything because, again, we never actually got seated. Reservation? In a time when people are scaling back, if you're planning a special outing, I'd strongly suggest skipping this and spending your money making magic at someone's home--or literally anywhere else with a holiday pop-up and edible food. Urban Roast: come for the aesthetics, stay for the drinks, eat somewhere else.

The space is pretty small and cozy but well decorated for the holidays! They have a holiday cocktail menu and expansive drink list, I've been a few times for cocktails and service is always great, tried the lamb shank dish and it was decent.

I called a month ago about their "holiday fire pits" and when I arrived there was no such thing so the holiday party I planned was ruined.

I was pulling up Yelp to see what bar we wanted to go after and saw this on the list. We were initially going to go to the karaoke bar next door but when we walked inside, it was wayyyy too loud and obnoxious so we were like perfect let's go across the street! We walk into the ramen spot and ask where the speakeasy is and the guy led us to the back and showed us to some stairs to go down. Seriously, how COOL is this place??? The neon lights were so fun! We walked into the bar and immediately loved it! Good amount of bar seating plus some comfy couches and whatnot. There was music but it wasn't too obnoxious, we were still able to have conversations - it was surprisingly chill and exactly what we were looking for. Chatted to the bartender who made some fancy shots for us, had a few drinks. It was not busy at all on a Sat night which was nice. It is very dark inside even with the neon lights so it does make it hard to read the menus (had to use flashlights on our phone). But super fun spot, fun drinks, not too expensive, and a neat and chill experience! It was an excellent find for us for sure!

All signature cocktails are priced uniformly and the menu also includes beer, cider, wine by the glass, spirit-free cocktails, and boilermakers, while offering accessible options for different preferences. Overall, the menu reads like a neighborhood cocktail bar with chef-driven bar food: playful, nostalgic American comfort dishes paired with a serious and historically influenced cocktail program. The bartenders provide top notch service and offer great recommendations. My water glass is always full and they check in often!

Trouble Bird was the answer to my prayers on a recent trip, where I was looking to have high quality drinks and a laid-back NON-commercial vibe with my team. We liked it so much, we came twice in one week, and I was impressed at their ability to handle and be comfortable for a large group in a space that can feel intimate. The lighting is nice and moody, the menu available via QR code, and the WiFi free and listed with password for patrons to use. We had excellent service both times, by the two folks working each night for a groups of 6-8 each time. There was something for everyone from the nondrinkers to the beer enthusiasts, to cocktail aficionados like myself. There's an amazing happy hour deal, with discounts on drinks all Monday and reduced prices for a couple of hours on other weekdays; it almost felt criminal how generous the happy hour was when I've gotten used to paying $20 for a mediocre cocktail at other nearby establishments. And the cocktails here are really very good, probably the best in the area, except for their immediate next door neighbor. The group favorite cocktail was the Midori sour which was incredibly well balanced and refreshing, and the surprising crowd pleaser was the Hamilton Dry Float, which came in a creepy tiki mug presentation that we really loved. We had a couple of the bar bites - the spiced peanuts were well loved across the group but my person favorite food item was the blistered shishitos, which came with a great chipotle aioli. The bathrooms are extremely clean and overall this was a bar favorite for the group for our week of going out and socializing together. Overall this is a gem of a neighborhood hangout with really excellent cocktails and service! Will absolutely come here next time I'm in town!
