Our server Jess quickly took our orders and brought us water. There was a little lazy fan placed on our table to deter the pesky flying bugs,(patio door were open). We went in for lighter fare and cocktails because we were catching Crazy Sexy Cool The TLC Musical in 45. DRINKS: Raspberry Pineapple Margarita was just okay ( needed more tequila) Mango Martini perfect! Shot of Reposado just enough to put the Margarita right APPS: Cauliflower Bite; slightly crispy outside, tender inside. Delicious (and I don't usually like CAULIFLOWER) Veggie Spring Roll with a sweet chili sauce. Average...you really can't mess them up Dynamite Shrimp; again good, you really can't mess up Shrimp. They were done perfectly. The onion flakes added crunch and flavor. There was a photographer walking around snapping pictures and later presented them in a classy glass frame for $20 a piece. Went with my kid for brunch in the neighborhood before the rush came. It is a very appealing atmosphere! All stars for the layout. The highlight was the server! Her name is Bri. She was simply delightful! She was very helpful, and she was friendly to my kid. And her smile was infectious! The food was good but not great. My kid did love the pancakes! But I got the brisket hash, despite Bri suggesting that I get the crab hash. The brisket was a bit too saucy for my liking, but the eggs and potatoes were pretty good! Went to Urban Roast for a friend's birthday celebration . I'll be honest, the aesthetics were a bit underwhelming compared to what I expected, and we originally planned to do the igloos, but between the rain and the setup, they felt a little low quality. That said, the food definitely made up for it . I kept it simple with the jumbo mozzarella sticks (delicious), the buffalo chicken dip (yum), and we shared the s'mores board, which was super cute and perfect for a winter birthday vibe. I think the other dc location is nicer in terms of aesthetics and drinks. The drinks were good but nothing special in terms of presentation or taste. I got the strawberry lemonade mojito which was very refreshing and good. If I'm comparing to the other location the glass shape and decor on the drinks were better. I normally prefer to eat outside. But the interior decorations are so beautiful. We ended up eating inside. The food is the real star here. Everything we ordered was excellent -- well-seasoned, beautifully presented, and clearly made with care. The hang over board was excellent if you are hung over. Or just hungry. The menu says it's good for 2 to 3 people. However, I think it's just enough for two people. Bonus points for being baby and toddler kid-friendly a rare balance of classy and supportive that parents will appreciate. Pricing is fair for what you get, especially given the Wharf location. The staff were warm, attentive, and knowledgeable without being overbearing -- exactly what you'd hope for Daniel was very helpful and attentive. He could pick up that my mom did not like her mimosa. He offered to exchange the drink. Which he did. On that note: the cocktails were quite sweet! If you prefer spirit-forward or more balanced drinks, it's worth asking your server for a recommendation or tweaking to taste! I got the express martini and it was super sweet. The service was impeccable. Our group was mid size, and we had a lot of questions that regarding the food to accommodate our various diets which the server answered adequately. The interior decorations were so cute with sunflowers plastered on the walls, in the lights, and on the center pieces. It brought a sunny vibe to the day. The food was tasty and the flame torch used for the smores experiences initiated a nostalgic feeling. The only con was that the food was a little overpriced, but what can you do with inflation. I have been here a few times. It seems to be going downhill. I had the I had the braised rib which was chewy and lacked flavor. I have had it before which is why I come back. I would rank the mama Tokyo roll as grocery store quality at best. Will not be getting sushi if I ever go back. The cocktails are reliability good and happy hour prices reasonable. Still, I had hope--dangerous, I know--because this is a brand-new location in one of the busiest parts of town. Surely they'd get it right... right? Wrong. I came here Saturday night with a friend because we promised ourselves a girls' night before the year ends. She picked the place, I showed up with optimism and a reservation for 7:30 PM. Our table was ready at 9:30 PM. Yes. Two full hours later. At that point we were emotionally seated, just not physically. I waited at the bar for my friend (who was running late) thinking, "By the time she gets here, we'll be seated." Cute thought. We ended up spending the entire night at the bar, making peace with disappointment and ordering appetizers--each one worse than the last, which honestly takes talent. Dynamite Shrimp Perfectly cooked shrimp absolutely buried under enough onion flakes to qualify as a French onion soup starter. I like onions. I do not like surprise onion avalanches . Guacamole & Chips Guacamole should never be blended or puréed. This tasted like every ingredient was thrown into a blender because no one felt like mashing--like the aunties used to do in real time at Whole Foods. The chips? The cheapest of the cheap. Just buy Tostitos in bulk and call it a day. Also... where was the citrus? Wings So gross. How does anyone manage to make wings dry and crispy on the outside and mushy on the inside. Boiled? Steamed? Then punished? Smokehouse Beef Brisket Dip This arrived looking like creamed chipped beef your grandparents ate--except... minus the beef. Just a mysterious white, greasy soup that refused to stick to the chips. Isn't that literally the job of dip? After 4-5 sad dunks, we sent it back and asked for it to be removed from the bill, citing the very vague description and a misunderstanding but we very surprised and grossed out. So what did we enjoy for $163? The drinks. And the decor--what little we could see from the bar, since our backs were facing everything because, again, we never actually got seated. Reservation? In a time when people are scaling back, if you're planning a special outing, I'd strongly suggest skipping this and spending your money making magic at someone's home--or literally anywhere else with a holiday pop-up and edible food. I was disappointed that we could not sit outside due to the construction overhead. Nevertheless, we were seated quickly as their was hardly any customers inside. Should have given me a heads up on the food. The waitress was pleasant and telling us that three items on their menu were not available, one of which both people wanted. The martini I ordered had to be sent back, the olives tasted rancid. I ordered the salmon that came with scalloped potatoes and broccolini. The potatoes came in the size of a mini cupcake, and the broccolini was so hard I couldn't cut it. On top of the lackluster dinner, we had to swat the flies away from our table. Definitely not giving the polished, Instagram-ready vibe I had in my head. Thankfully, the host and our waiter were kind and accommodating. They seated my friends and me inside and made sure we were comfortable. Service-wise? No complaints. They did their part. The food was good. Plenty of options on the menu, so everyone found something they liked. No one left hungry, and that's always a win. The bill was a little higher than I expected, but hey... it was my birthday. I let it slide. That said, this location is subpar compared to the other DC location I visited years ago. The decor felt underwhelming and honestly a bit tired. First night trying the Wharf location, and the service was extremely disappointing. The lobster soup was not good at all it tasted like milk and water. Our appetizers arrived before we had plates or napkins, and we had to ask for them. Never received the plates. After receiving our appetizer, we did not see our server for 31 minutes. For a venue like this, especially one promoting a "special igloo" experience, the service should be much more attentive. The original location is far better and should honestly be the focus. What makes this more frustrating is that the restaurant wasn't busy at all. When we arrived, the host was eating at the bar and didn't greet us or ask how our evening was just said "follow me." There was no sense of hospitality. Inside our dome, we had to turn on the Christmas lights ourselves and plug in the tree so it would fully light up, as only half of it was working when we arrived. We also had to turn on the Christmas tree outside the dome. It was noticeable that the first few domes did not seem to have these issues, which made ours feel overlooked and not properly prepared. Because we were waiting so long, we placed our dinner order with a different server, who said they would relay it to our assigned server. However, our server did not seem to understand and came back about 10 minutes later asking what we wanted to order. When he later returned with our second round of drinks, I asked if he knew how I wanted my steak cooked. He said he had already put it in as medium without ever asking. Luckily, I prefer medium, but that's not the point. That said, once the food arrived, dinner itself was very good and did not disappoint in terms of flavor. Unfortunately, the overall experience was overshadowed by poor service and lack of attention to detail. We drove in traffic for this experience, and it didn't meet even the minimum expectations. Had a great brunch here today with family friends! Our server Bri was fantastic, and the food was tasty (and the blackberry mojito mocktail was aaaaaamazing). The ambiance is first-rate and insta-worthy -- and I learned that the staff themselves are responsible for each season's beautiful decor.
