We sat outside they have a inside and an outside area outside has a Dj and live entertainment, we portions are big and shareable the food was fresh. The service was ok , I guess they were busy with bigger parties. They have beer specials for those who drink beer. The only down side is that you have people who want to sale you things like pictures or flowers and other things as if you are in a beach.

baby back ribs

I have mixed thoughts on The Pit. The ribs are usually very tasty. My hubby and father in law prefer the spare ribs, but I prefer the baby back ribs. Last time we dined here, my baby backs came out much thicker than is typical (see photo) but were yummy. The sides are a mixed bag. The maduro plantains are good, but the beans are way too sweet. Moro rice is good. I think my biggest dislike is that they don't offer glasses of regular tap water, so all water is bottled water. I try to minimize my use of single-use plastic, so this drives me crazy. This is an open air restaurant, under a chickee hut. There is a stage, on which my 3 year old loves to dance.

Our airboat tour guide recommended this place for alligator bites and I literally changed my itinerary to come here because (1) I did not have to take a detour as we drove back the Wynwood Art District (2) our party had one hour to kill (3) I can fulfill few of my friend's requests on having alligator bites. [Parking]: Easy and free private parking. [Atmosphere]: Tiki-style outdoor tables. [Service]: Very slow and not efficient. Automatic 18% tip for a party of 6 and additional 3.98% on credit card fee. *** Everglades "Frog Legs" ($19.99): Meat didn't taste too bad. Famous Pit "Gator Bites" ($15.99): Tasted like chewier version of chicken. *** 3-star on frog legs and gator bites, but minus one-star on a combination of slow service, expensive food, and hidden credit card fee. Subpar experience, but mission (getting gator bites) accomplished.

This place was very unique and really was like a lot infusion barbecue and the best thing was the gator ribs. They're very smoky and delicious the wings were ok but nothing crazy

Gator Ribs and fries

Like most others, I've visited this location after an Everglades tour on two occasions. Both times the food hit the spot and the service was great. The gator ribs are quite tasty, but not something I'd order again because there is a ton of cartilage. We also had gator bites, conch fritters, and a burger. I enjoyed the bites and fritters while the burger was pretty average. All in all not quite 5 stars, but not bad either.

Very nice Ambiance outside with picnic tables throughout. The server was polite and friendly. I had the baby back spareribs with potatoes salad and baked beans. The ribs fell off the bones, very tender . I will definitely be back here soon to try other menu items. Oh? The cod fritters are a must to try. Good Folks if on in the area and in the mood for barbecue then stop by you will not be disappointed.

Outdoor Tiki Hut

Established in 1963, The Pit Bar BQ has been serving up some real Southern Bar BQ fares. It's the real wood burning pit that sets us apart from all others. Take a drive heading West towards the Everglades. You can't miss our huge outdoor Tiki Hut, or just follow your nose to that delicious smoke in the air that will lead you straight to us! You'll be glad you did. The Pit Bar BQ 16400 SW 8th Street, Miami Florida

Upon arriving it sets the mood entirely with great fun appropriate decor and a prompt happy welcome. Staff Makes us feel they are glad we came-What a cool place! We settle on the brisket, baby back ribs, potato salad and beans with brisket. Can I tell you EvErYtHiNg was spot on!! And we plan accordingly to try their famous 12 hour smoked Flan dessert!! 1. Smoked Brisket- moist, perfect flavor, hearty portion, tender and high quality meat. Comes with great sauce, which I didn't use since it was so perfect as is. 2. Smoked Baby Back Ribs- Another hit with healthy portion, great flavor, and super meaty. Honestly, just hard to stop eating it! 3. Baked Beans with Brisket- A true meal unto itself! I could've stopped here! Tons of brisket ground into the beans, almost like the best "chili" ever. Flavor is sophisticated smokiness, not the usual sugary sweet restaurant rendition. Yay! 4. Potato salad is FIRE! Fresh perfectly cooked tender white potatoes, cooked carrots & peas add just enough interest and a magical a touch of mayo. Yes please. 5. 12 hour smoked Flan-STAR * of the show, the flan of my dreams! Staff insisted this flan is all that and they are correct! It's LEGIT. We left with a doggie bag, so worth it. Price was for real, you pay for quality. $74, but we brought plenty home. You could get by with a meal for two around $50-60, if you need. Check out their Later week Happy hour sand weekly specials as well as brunch & breakfast. It's all good here! Thanks for following me-happy spring 2026! ~Tami in Miami

This is a fast food ordering style but don't worry they don't lack service, everyone greets you with a smile and they have friendly faces walking around to help you with anything you may need. And I'm happy to report that they get an A+ for cleanliness and keeping the ambience feeling more like a BBQ joint than a fast food place, love this patriotic establishment that honors our military and first responders.

I selected a couple of add-ons for my meal as well. I had house made fries ($3.95), baked beans with bacon ($3.49) with were the highlight of the meal & loaded Mac & Cheese ($3.59), green beans ($3.54). The baked beans were certain the stand out! Service was fast & the staff were very polite. The shift manager even came around to check on the meal with us. Very cool ambiance as well. All based on US Military & first responders. A polite & dignified view of these professions. I would definitely do this over again.

Had time to kill before my next Miami Film Festival flick. Looked around Yelp and saw a green bean…read moresalad and was sold. Pulled-up to a DJ, t-shirt vendor and cool vibes. Per my usual attitude my first time somewhere, I wanted to try several items. The owner was super nice and gave multiple suggestions. I ended-up trying a really affordable wing special that comes with rice and beans, slaw, plantain chips and I added mac. I also added brisket, and that came with slaw. The green bean salad comes in one size as an add-on. Okay first, the owner is clearly magic, because there isn't a grill in sight. I had no intention of ordering wings, but these are seriously the best wings I've had anywhere, in a long time (100/10). The rice and beans (10/10), and the rice smelled like it came from abuelita's kitchen. The slaw, oh my goodness (100/10), so simple, and yet perfect! I thought the chips were unnecessary . . . NOT! These are delicious (10/10) and 100% belonged on my plate. The mac . . . well, you can't win 'em all. The brisket was good (9/10) and the sauce is mustard-based, just like I like it, but the star is what got me there, the green bean salad! This was a fresh, exciting dish that is like nothing you've ever had (1,000/10), I won't describe the ingredients here, because I think you should be surprised. I can't wait to go back. This is my new BBQ spot!
