Decided to give them another try...last time wasn't a great experience but it's been quite a few months so maybe things have improved. Stopped for lunch but had to get back to work within an hour. There wasn't anyone at the hostess station but we were greeted within a couple of minutes and seated. The waitress showed up promptly with waters and menus and asked if we would like drinks...hubby ordered decaf and I stuck with water. After 10 minutes, no decaf, no waitress and I'm running out of lunchtime rapidly. Another couple of minutes without any service and we left. We won't be back. read more

I have only been to The Phoenix for happy hour so I can't speak for the dining room experience. As for the bar it seems drab and run down. Could definitely use a freshening up. The service was good. Unfortunately the food not so much. The happy hour prices are very reasonable and if you stick to items like chicken strips and French fries it's okay. I made the mistake of trying the shrimp skewers and the pork skewers on one of my visits here and they were awful. Their happy hour drink specials are a good deal but I didn't find the drinks particularly well made. I'll have to admit I thought this place was dungenous and kinda trashy the first time I ate here 3 years ago. There was only 1 or 2 other people besides us. However, Today I went with a bunch of friends for a birthday party and made reservations for 10 in their back room. The whole reservation process was great. We had pretty much everyone come at all different times and they were so accommodating and the waitress was awesome. She kept everyone's orders straight and always had a smile on her face. I ordered a portabella burger and honestly I think it was the best burger I've ever had in my life! Most places can't make vegetarian food right but man this was amazing! Their fries were perfect too! I have nothing bad to say about this place and will never go to worthy brewing again which is right around the corner. Their service sucks and they got our orders all wrong last time. Choose Phoenix over them! I have a new favorite place near my work and house. read more

We stopped in here for lunch based on the reviews we saw on yelp. Friendly staff, clean restaurant... especially the bathrooms. Easy to see that the owners care about attention to detail. We split the lunch special, black & blue burger with bacon& fries. I have to say it may have been the best burger I've ever had! The meat was juicy, flavorful and cooked to perfection. I highly recommend this restaurant, and will definitely return the next time we are in bend. read more

This place is located right next to our awesome hotel. We realized how consistently busy this place had been from the moment of our arrival. We were greeted with friendly staff and options. Option 1, Lounge is immediate seating for 21+ or option 2, wait for a table. We were hungry and opted for immediate seating in the lounge. Even though this restaurant was packed with a 20 min. wait for the seated dinner side, the lounge side staff was quick and efficient. We had our beverages within 10 mins. of finding a seat. Our dinner arrived about 30 mins later. TOTALLY WORTH THE WAIT! We had been visited about drink refills during our wait for our meals of course. Even though they were so busy you never felt forgotten. I had the pork steak brisket with whipped potatoes, asparagus, in a lightly sweetened apple cream sauce. My husband had the steak with potatoes and veggies with an oil/vinegar sauce which was so light and flavorful it didn't hide the meat at all. We topped it off with their key lime tart. Best I have had! Amazing follow through in every meal course and beautiful plate presentation. We will be coming back the next time we're here. read more

I was thinking that maybe I would give this place a second chance, bad decision. I ordered salsa which was fine. The crab cakes were below average but really the disaster happened with entrees. I ordered the chicken parm, it was paired with mashed potatoes and veggies which is an insult to chicken parm. Regardless, I ordered it because nothing else sounded appetizing. It was so over cooked and when I complained they said the mozzarella got hard. What? Absurd. The veggies were ice cold. Surprisingly, the mash wasn't terrible. Food was good but I have an allergy to fish. I was told the peanut sauce didn't have fish in it so I began eating it, then they came back and said there WAS fish in it. We've been going here on a regular basis as a family. We normally love it, love the food and more. The waitress that we've gotten the last three times has been awful. Every time we ask for something it never gets brought. We barely saw her at all each time. We have to ask a third or forth time generally by another person. Last time we went she just stood around while throwing food at her other co workers. And had brought us cold food the time before. Such a bummer as we loved going here. We have never had bad service before, and yes we have had to wait for food a time or two. Chris has waited on us multiple times, and he is fantastic! We had a grad party here in their private dining area and were so pleased with EVERYTHING. They set up the room as requested, decorated with our balloons, cake, etc, and provided excellent service during the luncheon. The food was outstanding as well. The separate room allowed us to be a little rowdy without disturbing anyone and everyone enjoyed themselves. We researched other venues and this was the most affordable option we found. I am so glad we went with The Phoenix! If we ever need a party spot this will be our go to! Couldn't be happier!!! read more

Not worth the price since the food source comes from Costco - not locally chosen and fresh --that's all I have to say, plus had a negative experience with the owners before but thought I would give the food here a chance. Been here only twice and I feel like I am walking into Cheers. Paul, the host strikes the perfect balance of friendliness without being intrusive. I have had two waitress who were knowledgeable and again very friendly. My friend and I like to get a bottle of wine and have one appetizer at a time while we chat with each other. Didn't offer our son crayons to go with his menu. I had the crab cakes which weren't very good. I had one bite as did my husband. We put the plate aside and nobody asked us if it was ok. I've been dinning here with my family for years. Always a so so experience. It used to be great when the manger was a man. Sadly when he had family obligations and a new manager was hired.. this place went downhill. There's only one solid server and the rest aren't up to standards. We came in at 5:15 for dinner the other night, and was seated by the manager herself. She threw the menus down and walked away. Wee got our drinks at average speed, and since we knew what we were getting we ordered right away! The artichoke dip came out a little slower than normal but we were busy in conversation not to mind. We ordered the filet medium, and received it medium rare. We put it on a separate plate so they could reheat it without the sides. First it took our server 10 minutes to check on us, and then about another 20 to heat it. By that time we ate the mashed potatoes and asparagus. After getting the steak back we were pretty over the whole experience. Our server was slammed, and yet as a managers job they should pick up the slack. But that wasn't the case. When it came to the bill the manager only took off our app. She noticed we ate our sides from the steak and made a snide remark in the servers ear... our steak should've been comped, and a free desert should've been offered. We won't be returning until we know the current manager has moved on! read more

The Phoenix's bar had always been a favorite of mine when I lived in Bend. Back in town for the day we decided to see if the place was as good as I remembered. The waitress was fantastic. She took drink orders with a smile, delivered them and took our dinner order immediately. The place was packed and I frankly was surprised. It was a bit loud for me, but the Chicken parm was tasty and plentiful. My salty dog was plenty strong enough - so I had another. Kudo's to The Phoenix. I miss you and your staff. read more

I had driven past this place literally hundreds of times and went in for the first time when the in laws were visiting. We were so happy! Huge, creative, delicious portions. I went back two days later when my best friend came to town and they loved it too. Go! Enjoy! We have now visited The Phoenix a few times for special occasions. On my first visit the service and food was exceptional. As we were leaving I asked for the manager to thank him and say what great service we received. He apologized for them being under staffed, we would have never known with the service we received. After several visits we are still very pleased. We ate here on Thanksgiving because we had our home dinner the week before for family that were going out of town. I would opt to eat here on a holiday again if the need arises. Very are glad we tried The Phoenix and we will be long term customers. read more

Decided to have a nice dinner close to home. Sister mentioned that The Phoenix is a nice place with good food. We had a coupon (YAY) so off we went. We were early enough to qualify for their Sunset menu. Great prices for a three course meal even though the coupon could not be used. Sis had fish and chips and I had a fabulous steak. This comes with soup or salad-we both had salad-and includes a dessert. Drinks from the bar were prepared quickly and were quite delicious. Servers are attentive without being cloying. Food presentation is excellent and everything was fresh, hot and tasty. The regular menu contains more items than the Sunset menu and the prices are not out of line with the quality of the food. I look forward to a return visit to this excellent restaurant. read more

This place surprised me! We've been here three times now and everything on the menu is great! The service was above average but could use improvement. I finished my drink and the waitress didn't notice until about 2 minutes later, so I was without a drink for 3 minutes. We'll be back. This place has either been super busy or super slow every time. We love The Phoenix! This is our go to place and we usually eat there once a week, lunch or dinner. Great service, reliably good food, and generous portions. Amazing value. The happy hour is fantastic. This is my favorite margarita in town with fresh squeezed lemon/lime. Having food prepared as we wish is critical as we both have food allergies. This has never been an issue. Fish is predictable perfectly prepared, never dry. Atmosphere is pleasant and you can actually carry on a conversation with your table companions. Our server tonight, Kim, remembers what we like and how we like it. We are never disappointed. read more

I eat here fairly regularly in person and order take out as well. This restaurant is my FAVORITE in Bend. The chicken Marsala is to die for. I always enjoy eating here. The waiters and waitresses are capable and friendly. The manager is great and the food is delicious. Other favorites here include the French Onion soup, the Four Cheese Macaroni and their Crab Cakes.
