Enjoyed our time at Peacock! The cocktails are strong, but damn good - small sippers. We orders the dumplings and beef short rib hummus to start. The dumplings were off the chain!!!! The texture, the sauce, the flavor inside the dumpling and the yogurt sauce on the outside were BOMB. The hummus was great and I enjoyed the beef short rib that it came with. The pita bread is out of this world **of note, they only give 1 per person at the table and you can't order any additional To close it out, we did the harissa beef skewers and ordered a side of the latkes (very crispy). The harissa beef came in a 10-12 oz serving with 3 sauces and pickled veggies on the side. Admittedly, I wasn't impressed with the skewers. They were good but the appetizers set a high bar that they weren't able to meet. read more

Came back here for brunch.. ordered the French toast which was extremely sweet served dipped in a syrup with a dollop of sweet cream on top.. it just seemed to be missing something to balance all that sweetness. Sorry to say I have had much better tasting French toast at half the price elsewhere. The espresso martini was perfect though, and quite strong. It certainly put me in a better mood even though the French toast was a let down :( read more

TLDR : One time experience only, go to Aba skip this place if you are looking for great food and quality service with reasonable prices First of all its location is great downtown Austin inside the Propel Hotel. It is on the left side when you get inside the hotel. In downtown Austin there is a lack of Mediterranean food, so they are taking advantage of of this. It looks like it is a mix of Turkish, Greek, Israeli and Lebanese food which is honestly great cuisines. Let's talk about authentic first of all Giant dumplings should not be called Manti :) It is tasty, appetizers are great. Sorry Austin this is not Authentic Mediterranean food, but it is a great fusion Chili Humus was great and the hot pita was fantastic, so if you come here get this for sure Main dish was not only expensive, but also super disappointing because it was not fully cooked. On top of it you need to pay extra to get rice with main this like We got the saffron rice it was terrible. You could taste the tap water on it. Lentil Rice was very better, but seriously something was wrong with the saffron rice. Services was disappointing there were so many servers around you could see tables were not cleaned outside etc see pictures, also two seats were extremely not comfortable. I had to ask several times for water? Also - I don't understand why would you let someone sit the most uncomfortable seat on their first time whole entire restaurant was not busy ( table next to the exit door to outside seating. read more

Wow, the Peacock exceeded our expectations! Drinks and food were both delicious, and service was A+ throughout with friendly staff. We did family style and liked everything ordered: + Hawaij chile hummus 5/5: Wow, super fragrant and flavorful black garlic hummus! The fresh pita is nicely warmed. We all really enjoyed this! + Manti dumplings 5/5: I would not have ordered this on my own so I'm glad someone else did. This is my absolute favorite dish of the night because dumplings were bite sized packed with spiced beef and drenched in garlic yogurt. Everything came together for the perfect bite! + Cheese saganaki 4/5: I've never had saganaki before but it's a bit too heavy and cheesy for my liking. The flambeed cheese was too greasy. + Summer dew sangria 5/5: So refreshing! Amazing cocktail. I will definitely be back if I visit Austin again! read more

Service was good until our server decided to add an optional Wellness Surcharge our my tab without explaining or notifying our table about it. This wellness surcharge is to pay for their health insurance. If a customer doesn't review the charges on their receipt, the establishment steal from its customers. And to suggest a tip on top of that? CUSTOMERS SHOULD NOT BE PAYING AN EMPLOYEE'S HEALH INSURANCE. Employees shouldn't be adding optional surcharges without asking customers. Price point for food was also too pricy. $16 for a mocktail and $26 for small size pancakes. Other meals were decently priced. Definitely not worth coming back. read more

100% ambiance 100% service 80% food The restaurant is gorgeous! It is located close to a hotel and has a bar as well. I love the tall ceiling and the interior decorations. It's perfect for a romantic date or a nice meal with friends. The inside is spacious so there is plenty of room between the tables. We came for brunch and ordered plenty of dishes to share. While the food looks aesthetically pleasing, the taste wasn't that memorable. My favorite item is probably the manti dumplings. Don't expect to find authentic Mediterranean food here, everything tasted more so like a modern or fusion twist of the original dish. Since this is located in downtown, finding parking might be difficult depending on what time. We came for a Saturday brunch around 11:30an and there was plenty of parking. read more

Such a nice, elevated environment. Service is friendly, food is stellar. Love the dumplings and shrimp kabobs

My husband and I had brunch with a friend at The Peacock a few weeks ago, and we all really enjoyed our meal. Firstly, that menu. I wanted everything. And I mean everything. After some back and forth about our must orders, we shared five dishes: one dip, three mezze, and one salad. The Toasted Almond Muhammara (with Curried Cauliflower and Castelvetrano Olives) was good - definitely a great starter dip. For our mezze, we all enjoyed the latkes (with Smoked Trout Roe, Labneh, Dill), Khachapuri (Turkish-Style Flatbread, Parmesan, Lamb Ragu, Farm Fresh Egg), and Manti Dumplings (Spiced Beef, Garlic Yogurt, Sesame Salsa Macha, Cilantro), but we might have all had different favorites among them. I preferred the manti, while my husband (who loves khachapuri and I thought might not enjoy the Peacock's less traditional take) love their khachapuri. We also shared the sunflower maroulosalata salad (dill, feta, tahina vinaigrette), which was good and simple - and we needed something light and fresh with our other dishes! The only thing we ordered that I didn't enjoy much was their take on a Bloody Mary. I couldn't tell you why - it just tasted a little off somehow to me, and I switched to coffee after I finished it. The service was great, and the restaurant is really beautiful. Its 2nd Street location means parking is not so fun, but the location is great and convenient if you're downtown. We walked over from our hotel across Lady Bird Lake, and my friend found parking at a nearby garage. Overall, a great brunch. I'd be happy to repeat it. read more

If you're looking for an elevated Mediterranean restaurant, this is it. The menu is exquisite and they took the guesswork out of group dining (note: any more than 6 will require you to do a prix fixe but it's 10/10!) and even dietary restrictions or preferences seemed to be a non-issue with their menu. Service is paced beautifully and we weren't rushed in any capacity so could really enjoy the special occasion. It's dark, inside the Proper's bustling bar, but the food makes up for any volume. read more

I've been trying to make it back to this place a long time cause I wanted to try it again. I still feel the cost to value is a bit skewed in a negative way, but when I came back it was for a work event and everything was covered. In the absence of thinking about costs - good golly the food is great! I especially love the hummus with wagyu, it is STUNNING on the naan they give you! The drinks were also fantastic, I had both a cocktail and a mocktail and they were both fabulous; the mocktail had elderflower flavor which I am a sucker for so I liked that one even a bit more. The staff were courteous and helpful, quite fast at keeping dishes moved through. The ambiance is lovely, great for a date night but it does get a little packed esp around the bar so be mindful. The bathrooms are immaculate indeed! The parking sitch is a bit of a disaster tho, there's paid valet at Austin proper, or paid street parking. Nevertheless, I really do like this place, it's really lovely and I like what they are conceptually going for. I just do think it's a bit expensive but cost eliminated - it's just delicious! read more

Incredible food! Beautiful interiors, really friendly staff. One of the best restaurants we've been to!

My first time at The Peacock and I was not impressed. I booked a table for lunch and the host initially placed us in a tight spot next to another party. We asked for another table with ample room for two people to dine without encroaching in the other party's space. The décor is lovely and it's certainly a good spot for lunch and dinner. However, the lunch experience was not what I expected. I ordered the simple greens & herbs salad and added garlic shrimp. The combined cost for this salad was $32 and it wasn't even chopped! Suggestion to the kitchen: please chop the salad, it was annoying to chew long leafy greens (there wasn't much room to use my butter knife as the plate was full), and there was a spicy kick to it which overpowered the sesame dressing. On the flipside, I did enjoy their mocktail, Honey Thyme Lemonade. Not sure if I'll go back for lunch but I might give it another shot for after work cocktails or dinner. read more

I attended a cowork lunch here and it was a set coursed-out menu, so it might be slightly different from the original menu. The standout was definitely the first course with an array of hummus: the short rib hummus was so good, as was the cirpsy shallot hummus. I tried to pace myself but should've just gone all in, it was that good. The wood fire grilled octopus followed and was perfectly meaty and tender--a real credit to the chef. The butternut squash with feta and fried sage, despite being heavily garnished, leaned bland, and by the time the mixed grilled kebabs arrived, I was too full to fully enjoy them. The lamb was a bit mushy, and overall, they didn't stand out. The interior's blend of Western and Middle Eastern vibes was charming, but for the price and downtown location, I think there are better options around. The service could have been better as well, I waited probably 20 minutes between drinks. read more

While prices and parking is annoying here, I still really enjoyed it! The food is delicious and tastes authentic. I ate here last Friday night. I didn't know what to expect as I was a passerby. I was pleasantly stunned. The food here was exquisite and made me genuinely happy to eat every bite. I had the dumplings that felt savory to my tongue and gave you the satisfaction of a home cooked meal. The sauce was immaculate with its blended flavors. I had the meatballs as an entre and the waiter warned me of it's heat. He wasn't wrong. Even though the spice was intense, I craved each bite. I went back for more. I couldn't stop. I needed my dinner with an orange blossom creme brulee which I'm usually not a fan of but this one captured me. It was delicate with its flavor and I could only get a glimpse of its wonder and that I needed to eat more. It was a drug. I recommend and I will be coming back for dinner again. Really nice spot for Mediterranean food in the heart of downtown Austin! We walked in on a Friday night without reservations and were told that there was no space inside, but luckily it was a nice night, and we could be accommodated on the front patio (which has heaters). The menu has good variety, and we were tempted by some of the cocktails, but priced at $20 a drink, we decided to stick with water and focus on food. To start, we shared the short rib shawarma hummus, which was a pretty good portion and served with soft pita bread. Yum! Unique take on hummus that I'd happily enjoy again. We also ordered the saganaki, which is lit on fire by your table and served with some other type of very tasty bread. This is worthwhile for the spectacle alone, but I also enjoyed the flavor of the graviera cheese and bread. For entrees, we got the manti dumplings as well as the chicken tagline with saffron pistachio rice. The manti were larger than the ones I've gotten at Turkish restaurants - not necessarily a bad thing since they hold more filling! I loved the yogurt and chili oil served atop them. The chicken tagine was the least impressive dish for us. The chicken was spicy, which is not how it's traditionally done in Morocco, and we didn't find any pistachios in the rice. I'd skip this one, especially for the price point. Overall, we enjoyed the flavors and vibe of The Peacock! Don't forget to grab a branded matchbook on your way out. read more

Ambiance is excellent and the decor and layout very homey and beautifully put together. Restaurant is located on the first floor of the Proper Hotel and I parked at the nearby Austin Central Library to avoid the steep valet charges at the hotel. I ordered the short rib hummus and a side of fries. The hummus was tasty and extremely filling (would recommend sharing) and the pita bread was more than enough. The fries were cubed in shape and came with a nice sauce on the side. Only complaint is the price, which was a bit steep in my opinion. We like being spontaneous so, it's hard hard to commit to a time and a date. We popped in and there were too many people waiting so we checked the bar and it's the same. The scenario was the same 2 years ago so note to rsvp. On this trip, someone told us we must try the manti dumplings. It's the only thing they like there. Later that week, we decided to order a carryout just to try the dish. Since no one picked up the phone, we walked over to put in the order, same craziness scene and ate it on the patio. First, it's expensive for 5 small dumplings. Second, it's oily. Third, didn't taste any beef, spice or uniqueness. Lastly, not too sure now about wanting to eat here. read more

Y'all, The Peacock is a vibe. We chose The Peacock while searching for a mediterranean-style brunch with a patio, drinks, and no wait. Surprisingly, they didn't have a wait, though reservations are highly recommended. The Peacock is located in The Austin Proper Hotel, and it can get busy; apparently the hotel's bar is a haute spot. Brunch, it was damn near impossible to decide on what to order, because *everything* seemed worth a nod. Toasted almond muhammara, curried cauliflower, summer carrot fritters, latkes with smoked trout toe and labneh... and those are just some vegetarian dishes. My brunchmate and I decided to split the "Blueberry & Semolina pancakes" ($22) topped with vanilla labneh, orange blossom, shaved almonds, and spices - omg. Definitely the most unique pancakes I ever had, probably some of the best. Do share this, because we also split the "Hawaj Chile Hummus" ($18) topped with black garlic and chive, and we couldn't finish both plates (and we are fooodddies). Expect to spend a pretty penny at The Peacock for brunch, at least $50/person sans drinks. They're open for breakfast, brunch, lunch, and dinner. Breakfast; Mon-Fri: 7:00am-11:00am Brunch; Sat-Sun: 7:00am-4:00pm Lunch; Mon-Fri: 11:00am-4:00pm Dinner; Sun-Wed, 4:00pm-10:00pm, Thurs-Sat, 4:00pm-10:30pm Late Night (Lobby Bar, beverage offerings only): Sun-Th, 10:30pm-12:00am Fri & Sa, 10:30pm-1:00am Parking: $25 for three hours with a $5 discount with validation. read more

I had two meals here on Saturday, breakfast and lunch, though both were considered brunch and the menu was the same. For breakfast, I originally wanted the shakshuka, but my server told me that. it was "6 out of 10 spicy and couldn't be modified," so I opted for the avocado toast + 2 eggs. The avocado toast was underwhelming. Basically, guacamole on sourdough with assorted herbs (mint, cilantro, etc.). There were no sides included, just a slab of bread on a plate. I also had a small glass of green juice (8oz). In total, this breakfast was over $45 (including tip). For lunch, I had the mushroom kebab. I enjoyed this platter. It had an ample portion of rice and assorted salads/dips. Surprisingly, the platter did not come with pita. This platter was ~$30 before tax/tip. It was good enough, nothing that I'd repeat order. To sum it up, over priced and underperforming. Conveniently located in the hotel, but comparable to other nicer restaurants in the area- just go there instead. read more

Medicore food, bad service. It's a place to be seen but not eat or drink. Disappointing.

Our first time at The Peacock and most certainly we will be back! The bar area is pretty lively and seems like a fun place to come with a group for a drink and some appetizers after work. We came for dinner and had an early reservation so we were seated right away. Be aware, the place does fill up pretty quickly. We started off with drinks; they have a pretty extensive wine and cocktail selection. I had an old fashioned and it was very good. For an appetizer we had the Crispy Shallot Hummus and Manti Dumplings. The hummus was epic! It was SO good, at the end of the evening, we ordered another Shallot Hummus to take home and it was still amazing the next day. Although the dumplings were okay, they only had one option of Spiced Beef; there were no other options for the dumplings which was a bit disappointing. For our main courses we had the Yogurt Marinated Chicken Thigh Kebabs and the Atlantic Salmon. The salmon was very delicious. The chicken kebabs were also very tasty, but far too salty. And after all of my years traveling throughout the Mediterranean and living in the Middle East for a time, I have never had chicken kebabs with thigh meat. I've only had chicken breast so although the thigh meat was tasty, but not as delicious chicken breast. And although they were marinated in a yogurt sauce, it was missing some flavor from lime, turmeric and paprika. For some sides, we had the Saffron Rice, Spiced French Fries and Asparagus with Parmesan and Hollandaise. All sides were amazing! The rice is fabulous but surprising the the kebabs didn't come on a bed of the saffron rice. The French Fries were hot and fresh but they were spicy at all. Although they weren't spicy, I do recommend them. Again, very hot and fresh! Lastly, the asparagus was SO fresh! I would have preferred the asparagus with either the parmesan or hollandaise but not both. I'm sure you can ask them to hold one. But the asparagus was so fresh and cooked to perfection! To round the evening out, we shared an Orange Blossom Crème Brûlée with Almonds. The Crème Brûlée is amazing and the almonds were a nice addition. But I would ask them to hold the orange blossom. The two tastes do not go well together. Overall, great atmosphere, very good food and excellent service. We will certainly be back again. Make sure you have Crispy Shallot Hummus! read more

The Peacock was a beautiful venue that served subpar food. I found that the food wasn't as authentic as I would've hoped. I had the shallot hummus, beef sirloin, the date sticky toffee pudding, and a glass of sangria. the hummus & pita were tasty, but if you're looking for something more authentic I wouldn't suggest it. The sirloin was really tough and lacking in flavor. It came with little ramekins of different homemade sauces and each one of them were bland. The best part of the meal was the sangria and the date sticky toffee pudding. I would highly suggest either of those to anyone. Regardless of the food the service and ambiance were wonderful. Solid 3/5 stars, but again if you want authentic try somewhere else. read more

I absolutely love their bar and especially the service. So when I planned a family brunch here while folks were visiting, I was disappointed. First, they had no flexibility on changing our assigned table though the restaurant was 80% empty. Second, our server was clearly exhausted and didn't want to serve another table - that affected her attitude even when we made simple and obvious asks such as cutlery. The sweet pea dip was a highlight but the rest of the food was mediocre. The frittata was lacking in flavor, the fries with the burger were cold and limp, and the kebabs were mostly a huge portion of rice with tiny portions of protein. I had been looking forward to our meal but was highly disappointed in our overall experience here. read more

I was really looking forward to trying Peacock in Austin, especially after hearing so many good things--but unfortunately, my experience was disappointing. I ordered the shakshuka and the 'Proper Breakfast.' The eggs were fine, but the potatoes were really off--they tasted like old, reheated potatoes. The shakshuka, in particular, was the worst I've ever had, which was surprising given the restaurant's reputation. Maybe it was just an off day or a different cook, but overall, it was a letdown. That said, the restaurant itself is beautiful, and the staff were very nice and friendl Thank you Alex D. for your message! Phenomenal food and service. Finally a menu in Austin that is unique! Loved everything I ordered. Pretty romantic ambiance too!

An outstanding dining experience with an upscale, trendy vibe and excellent food. We had reservations for 8 pm but got here earlier, and they were able to accommodate us after a short wait. The restaurant was full and buzzing with the dinner time crowd. I tried the Espresso Sans-tini an excellent, balanced coffee flavored non alcoholic drink. We got the almond dip and Chile hummus for appetizers - both of which were delicious. The entrees were Aleppo & garlic grilled shrimp and grilled lamb chops, perfectly medium rare served family style, and a Moroccan curry tagine. Sides were saffron rice and couscous. All the dishes were expertly seasoned, showcasing the spices without overpowering the natural flavor of the base ingredients. They also refilled the warm pita bread without being asked, which was a service highlight. The server came in regularly to check on us, refill drinks and was great with their recommendations. Desserts were the chocolate pistachio kunaifi and the date toffee pudding, both of which were decadent and delightful. A must visit if you're in the mood to splurge.
