We have eaten breakfast here a handful of times and it never disappoints. The pancakes are yummy and the serving size is huge. The waffle is also delicious, but make sure you ask for the real maple syrup when you're checking out! My boyfriend got the Western omelet and was also very pleased lots of veggies and meat. The lemonade is fresh squeezed and so refreshing. We certainly did not leave hungry. I would definitely recommend for a quick no frills breakfast spot. read more

when I lived in beacon hill, I always wanted to try the charles st location, but was intimidated by the line or just too hungry to wait. I came here on a wed night for dinner with a friend and we got a table right away. They gave us bread with a pesto ish dipping sauce (I did not try but friend liked the dip very much). We ordered a bottle of wine (a good cab/syrah mix) and I got the seared ahi tuna salad as my main while my friend got the black bean burger with a side of broccoli instead of fries. We both enjoyed our meals very much. The tuna on my salad was very fresh and seared perfectly (hate when some places over cook it!) and the sesame dressing was delicious as well. Service was fast and very friendly. Total bill came to around $60, which was very reasonable for 2 dinners and a bottle of wine. I am looking forward to going back! read more

Came to The Paramount on a Saturday afternoon for some brunch. Food looked delicious and reviews pleasing here on Yelp, so my boyfriend and I decided to give it a try. The structure inside the restaurant a little different. You order in the front with the chefs, pay, then are served while seated. I liked that aspect. We decided to order an omelette with sausage, cheddar and bacon, (which came alongside toast and home fries) a single pancake, the caramel and banana French toast and a side of bacon. We also bought two OJs. Off to the table we went, and waited for the food. The omelette and its sides came first. The plate was fairly small. The home fries consisted of a couple chunks of potatoes, that was crunchy, and heavily seasoned. Toast was 1 slice of bread cut in half, with butter on the side. And the omelette, nothing special. Shortly after, came the single pancake. Now I don't know if the chef saw that we were indecisive about the pancake while ordering so he made it smaller, or if they're are sizes, but we got a baby pancake. A skimpy pancake that was gone in three bites, that looked like it was made from an Aunt Jemima 'Just Add Water' pancake mix box. Wasn't a fluffy pancake that you get elsewhere. My boyfriend said that if it didn't have the butter on top, it wouldn't taste like anything. After a few minutes came the rest. The French toast looked delicious, but was also underwhelming. It was okay. I'm glad that I got the caramel and banana because without them, the dish would've been bland. Just like the rest, the bacon was disappointing. Wasn't juicy bacon that you expect, but very dry. How can you ruin bacon? We spent $35 on unimpressive food, and were still hungry. The service, however, was friendly. The food here is great. The service is also good. My husband and I came here for dinner, but I think they are known for their breakfast. There is lots of south boston art on the walls which is cool. I have only 2 complaints. 1. They were a little heavy handed with salt in both our appetizer and our entrees, which made the delicious sangria go down too fast... The smoked pulled pork quesadillas were amazing as was the lamb shank shepards pie. 2. The kitchen is in the main dining area, so you can watch them cook. This is really cool, except you see them throw some stuff on the grill that is frozen. I am well aware that restaurants use frozen foods, but seeing it kinda takes away the feeling that you are eating something fresh. Other than that, I plan to return here often. Limited basic breakfast menu was uninspired. Ordered scrambled eggs and got eggs that were not scrambled but barely mixed (more like overcooked fried eggs that were cut up after cooking). Bacon was paper thin. Toast was ordinary store brand flavor. Home fries were just deep fried potato chunks (no seasoning). The staff spoke very little English. Overall not a good breakfast spot. it's sad that I had a bad customer service experience recently. I been there numerous times and love their food and had decent service. this time it was horrible. I was with a party of 5 and I did not receive my plate and was told they would bring it out asap. I waited 10 mins before asking again about my tuna fish sandwich. They had completely forgotten and said they would bring it to me. Another 10 mins passed, by which time my friends were pretty much done eating their plates. They finally brought my order to the table but unfortunately, it was the wrong order. I had to wait a few more mins until the corrected their mistake. The staff never said sorry or offered a discount. Very sad experience because I do love their food. read more

I just decided to pop in and grab lunch. More than I prob wanted but thought I would give the new spot a try. I went up to the line cook and put in my order. Crab cake BLT w no bacon & avocado instead. They brought it out with bacon and when I told them I ordered without they asked if I was allergic. The reason for this question I realized was so that they could just take it back, scrape off the bacon and bring it back out. I could have done that. Even then, the second time came without avocado. After that I realized they weren't going to get it right, got my $ back and left. I can go to many more count place here in southie were they do get it right the first time. read more

Usually they don't get the order right or there are substitutions they didn't make but the food is good enough that I usually let it slide. They have great pizza joints, but good food is definitely hard to come by. I recommend going here when it is not busy. The seating process is something to get used to for sure, but it does indeed work. My issue is with the food process during the busy times. I literally sat in line and watched my food get cold for about 10 minutes before i got to the register. Then when I got there I informed the girl behind the counter i'd like new eggs since cold eggs are not that yummy. They looked at me like I had 6 heads! The rest of the order came out in a timely fashion, but the eggs were done WAY too early and were ice cold. Heating them up would be really minor. That's my 2 cents. Breakfast at The Paramount is unbeatable. The short-order cooks are like ninjas, handling multiple, personalized orders at once and super quickly. This place has a unique seating rule: you can't sit down or reserve a seat; you just wait in line, order your stuff, and something will be open by the time you're ready to sit down. It sounds weird, but it's worked every time I've been there. The fruit salad bowl is incredibly good; it's way better than your standard fruit salad, and it's loaded with bananas, blueberries, and other good stuff. The huevos rancheros and omelettes were amazing, too. It's my favorite breakfast spot in Southie. read more

Go early on the weekends or there is a wait! I love this location much better than the Beacon Hill. The food is worth the wait and even though you worry about there being seats available, there will be. Don't let the fact that you can't sit before you order your food turn you away. Not good for dinner at all. I've been a fan of Paramount for breakfast, but they need to stick to their forte. Tonight I tried chicken pad Thai (for the third time), thinking it would better than last. However, it was worse, in fact one of the most poorly crafted dishes I've had in a long time. Made with nasty chicken leftovers from yesterday or the day before, the lad Thai was strewn with chewy, wet chicken skin, rubbery strands of dark meat, bits of cartilage, and little white meat. Some chunks of tofu were also in there. Worst of all -- $18.50 for this?!!! All set with this place .... It's time to spread the word folks. TOTALLY OVERRATED... Spend your money elsewhere. read more

Delicious! I dined here again recently for dinner on a super rainy night. We were sat immediately by a very lovely server/hostess/nice lady who greeted us. Service was prompt, the wine was generous and delicious, and I made sweet love to my plate of miso-glazed shrimp with roasted broccoli and jasmine rice. So many shrimp, so little time. If my dining partner would stop eating his food in 2.4 seconds all the time, I would have gladly lingered over dessert or another glass of wine. Definitely recommend for dinner. read more

Have been in 3 times....and love it. Working out the kinks, but very nice service. The fresh squeezed Valencia orange juice is soooooo tasty. Don't miss it! Had the waffle with fruit piled high.....just right! Takes a little getting used to to go to the back of the room to get in line to order, but once you have the hang of it, it works. Suggest giving a little more room to the cream and milk dispensers. Feel like I'm fumbling to move cream to get to milk.....Maybe need to get narrower ones or put them on another table with forks, knives, etc.? Had the black bean burger for lunch. Looked and tasted great, nice with tomato slices, pickles, nice toasted bun. Can we get more vegetarian options? So happy to have this restaurant in the neighborhood. Thank you Paramount for coming, making such a comfortable place to eat and being so very cordial to everyone who walks through the door. Looking forward to trying dinner sometime. Having lived in South Boston for 4 years, I was excited to try out a new place that is not a pizza joint. The first time at The Paramount I stopped in with a friend. Her salad came out in a reasonable amount of time while my order was lost and had to be remade after I went back to the counter to ask. Since they had only been open a week at this point, I gave them a pass to get the kinks worked out. I have since ordered take out 3 additional times. The experience has been the exact same. I call, place the order, wait the time advised on the phone, go in and my order is no where to be found or is not ready for an additional 15 minutes while I wait in the crowded door area. The counter staff seems highly unorganized, confused and does not work well together as a team to provide good customer service. Going to keep searching South Boston for a decent place to eat. read more

I'd give this place 3.5 stars if possible. The food is really good and they have a good setup that results in quick lines and quick delivery times (usually) once you order. It is overpriced for lunch items (salads and sandwiches) and very overpriced for the dinner menu. Every single time I have dined at this restaurant whether it be for breakfast or dinner I have always had terrible service. The staff is very rude. One particular time, a morning where there was no line or wait, I ordered an omelet and when I asked for bacon on the side the man making my order immediately said something in another language to his coworker which he then immediately looked up at me and stared. Never had a bad meal or bad experience here! My fiancé and I go at least once a week for dinner. Weekend brunch is great as well, but expect to stand in line. The wait staff is always friendly. The food is fine, sort of like slightly more upscale diner food. I found it a little overpriced for what it was but it was decent. Ordered the apple cinnamon pancakes and they were pretty good. Probably I should have gotten the banana caramel French toast, which is one of their famous dishes. What I really didn't like was the cafeteria style ordering system. It was a complete mess and took forever! I also watched the guy sitting next to me pull a large plastic wrapper out of his omelet- gross. In Boston on vacation looked at reviews to grab some breakfast. This was the worse experience ever. When we come in we try to grab a seat. The waitress tell the kids they have to order first then they will be seated. So its 12 of us all together. We have to line up order and pay before they seated us. The kids was confused. They were rude as hell. Then we didnt get all our food. The waitress threw the silverware on the table. And said you get your food when it's ready when we tried to tell her we had food missing. The Paramount is one of my favorite places to go for breakfast when I'm in town. They make a mean lunch as well. The layout could be better, as the means to place an order is up at the counter and it can get quite congested at busier times of the day. Not a huge amount of tables in which to eat, but we've always managed to snag one at the right time. The food is on the pricier side, but delicious. I guess that's all that matters. read more

When I arrived, there was a line out the door and the place was packed. We stood outside for ten minutes until let in. We thought we were close to the end as we inched to the cashier - but no - the line looped around! Once we got our trays we were able to order. It was cafeteria-style and I went straight for the banana-caramel-pecan-waffle. Yes a mouthful, but completely worth it and the wait. The fresh banana's were caramelized to the "tee" and covered in caramel. The sauce was not exceedingly sweet to the point that it overpowered the dish and the pecans added a crunch. The toppings were definitely the stars here and made an average waffle into above-average. I would travel to Boston Commons for this, wait in that line again, and order the very same dish if that says anything at all about the food served here. read more

I have hesitated to write this review, cause after you see what i have to say about this place..I will probably have to wait for hours to get a table. This place ROCKS.......1st you have a master chef in Gabriel Cheung....this chef gets it...I have been here now about 7 times since they opened...the greeter/hostess actually quotes the table wait time pretty accurately. not only that..you get the feeling when you walk in that someone is happy to see you and cares about your experience while in their house.......the servers are cheery and attentive......after you place a drink order ( very reasonable beer and wine prices)..you get served a few pieces of fresh bread with a light hummus...delicious an just enough to wet your appetite... we have ordered the daily specials and each time we have not been disappointed...the portions are great and EVERYTHING is cooked to order.. the soups, salads and all the grill stuff has been great... this is a great neighborhood place..it is really a great addition to the scene in Southie..best of luck to these guys I will be a regular here for a long time read more

If you're wanting to eat super expensive breakfast that you can get at ihop for 4x more the money then this is your place. $90 for a meat lovers omelette, 2 pancakes, an order of French toast, 2 sides of eggs and 2 sides of bacon, with 2 regular coffees and 2 hot chocolates! This was ridiculous when I saw the price for it all. Literally ruined my appetite. Usually we go down to My Diner in south Boston order more food for 35$ and it's delicious. Food is good, but there is literally a 90 percent chance they will screw up your order. Three times in a row they got my breakfast order wrong. I recently had an unfortunate experience (unrelated to the management/staff) and the management there went above and beyond to make it right.
