I think the best was I can describe Paramount is hit and miss. I've had some amazing breakfast/ brunch, some lovely chicken salads for lunch and then some absolutely terrible meals at night. If they can get their food more consistent, focus on quality then I think this place deserves more attention. With the new restaurants entering south Boston, they need to raise the bar. read more

If you're wanting to eat super expensive breakfast that you can get at ihop for 4x more the money then this is your place. $90 for a meat lovers omelette, 2 pancakes, an order of French toast, 2 sides of eggs and 2 sides of bacon, with 2 regular coffees and 2 hot chocolates! This was ridiculous when I saw the price for it all. Literally ruined my appetite. Usually we go down to My Diner in south Boston order more food for 35$ and it's delicious. Food is good, but there is literally a 90 percent chance they will screw up your order. Three times in a row they got my breakfast order wrong. Ordered eggs potatoes and bacon and all three come out on different plates five minutes apart. I tried to give it chance after chance but this was my last straw. read more

Updated the star rating because I have gone back for Dinner probably about 5 times now. I think they are very consistent and the quality is excellent. My new favorite Southie dinner spot because there are no TVs and the focus is on enjoying the meal. I still have issues with the breakfast experience and just don't go there for breakfast. It's too expensive for what it is and the awkward seating system is not what i want for those prices. But for Dinner it's fantastic. Love the salads. read more

So far i have only been twice. I went once for lunch and once for dinner. Lunch I split a greek salad with grilled chicken. It was amazingly huge and fine for 2 people. It was really good. The dressing was awesome and not too heavy or greasy. Dinner was also very good. I got the ahi tuna taco's and they were really good. The caramel banana french toast is incredible! I almost picked up the plate to lick the sauce. It you are here for breakfast, you have to try it. It is soooooo good! I cannot say enough good things about that dish. Well other than one bad thing. Half of my fresh bananas were bruised and brown. I had their breakfast panini and it was seriously the best breakfast sandwich ever- and I've had some great breakfast sandwiches in my day! And my boyfriend said he had one of the best omelettes of his life there! I totally dig their seating policy that you can't sit down until you have you food so you know you'll get a table and they cook right in front of you! Everything we had here was delicious! The calamari off the appetizers list was very good, but there were a lot of peppers included on the plate. Another great addition to South Boston dining. I went to the Paramount with a friend a few days ago for dinner. We arrived at about 6:30 on a week night and were seated right away. The restaurant is small, as are the tables, so at a two top you can easily be involved in your neighbors conversation and there is sparse room for multiple plates to remain on your table. Our server was friendly and attentive although I did feel a bit rushed to order. I could see a small line beginning to form at the door but I hate getting the sense that your being rushed for the server to flip more tables. Her persistence did get us to order an appetizer to derail our decisions on the main course. We ordered the goat cheese app and it was amazing. Toasty garlic bread, marinated tomatoes and a healthy chunk of warm goat cheese was delicious. For the main course I ordered the steak frites. It came with a beautiful 8 oz. filet that definitely had the melt in your mouth quality I was looking for and was cooked to perfection. It came with shoestring fries and a side salad. Both were exactly as I would have liked them. My friend got the pot roast which looked delicious and she seemed very satisfied with it. Overall it was a great meal and the prices were fair. I am excited to go back and try more items on the menu. Everything from the salads to the sandwiches to the entrees piqued my interest and made ordering quite the dilemma! 4 stars from me though, I thought it was great! read more

This review is for BREAKFAST ONLY. I cannot stand the set up for breakfast. You have to line up, order off a menu posted above the grill (impossible if your vision is poor). You can't look for a seat until you have paid. Soooo, if you can't find one, it's too late. Given the prices, I expect a minimum of aggravation. Paramount brings good food to E.Broadway, and with respect to Cafe Porto Bello, this was an area with a serious lack thereof. Dinner is a welcome break from pub food, though you can still get the pub staples. It's laid back and delicious. Lunch is also good, as is breakfast, but I agree with other reviewers that I prefer the standard "be seated & order with waitress" that they use at dinner over the cafeteria style. The Paramount was not at all what I was expecting. The ordering/serving process is a slightly abnormal - you wait in line, place your order, pay at the cashier, and then usually by the time you have paid your order is almost ready. The waiter then brings your food to a table and seats you, it all seemed very chaotic to me. I ordered the huevos rancheros, which were definitely good, but I am not going to rush back to get them again. My mom is gluten free and the waitstaff seemed slightly uneducated about gluten allergies and were confused about her order, thus forgetting her homefries. When I went up to ask for the missing homefries, I was ignored by the cashier and was ultimately not impressed with how long it took to get someone's attention to help me. However, the homefries did come out fast once I was able to speak to someone and were delicious. I would consider going back but this is definitely not my first choice for brunch in Southie. read more

Went in for lunch with co-workers on Wednesday and it was awful. First we where told we could not sit at a table until we got our food...which I understand is the way it works there and probably works when it is busy but was a bit rude seeing there was only 5 other people in the place. I then ordered a tuna melt no tomato. But received a rueben. Then told the chef/waiter?? what I ordered and thought it was a simple fix he then made it again but it had tomato. So I told him again it was wrong...he then gave a look to kill in anger and threw the whole plate away. Then he rushed making it and it was a soggy greasy mess and not edible. I like the paramount in Beacon hill and was excited for a new place in Southie. But I think for lunch I will stick to Cranberry cafe. read more

Yum yum yum - that's all there is to it! Delicious food and great atmosphere. I love how much it changes from breakfast to dinner. I must admit, I'm not a huge fan of ordering your bfast food and then finding a place to sit, but they make it work. The whole grain french toast is delish! Bfast potatoes could use a little more love (they were kind of hard last time I got them) but pretty good brunch overall. The dinner is where my 5 stars come from. The food is SO good! We really needed this in Southie. I love the California Chicken Sandwich and my BF always gets the pulled pork (I think he craves it in his dreams). Their Greek salad is amazing too and their guac is nice and fresh. I wish they took reservations though because it can get pretty busy on weekends. read more

I have only been here for dinner so I can't comment on the breakfast format which seems to be a big reason as to why the lower star rating. Although I'm sure the breakfast is fantastic, my hands are already clammy with the thought of walking around with a tray looking for a place to sit. I typically try to avoid that particular high school flashback. On to dinner. The first time I came here I did not enjoy my dinner (the sweet potato fries were great though!). This is not the Paramounts fault as I was really indecisive about what I wanted and order wrong. Way wrong. The second time I came here I enjoyed my meal immensly. I came with my brother after he finished a tough mudder earlier in the day. He pleaded with me to share an app with him and boy am I glad I agreed. He ended up going with the onion rings. Best decision ever. They double batter the rings and you end up with this crispy tower of deliciousness. My brother kept mumbling in between bites "These are the best onion rings I've ever had. They need to enter an onion ring contest." I ended up ordering the pad thai and was hoping that ordering an "ethnic" (I know pad thai is basically amerincanized thai food but you get my drift) dish was the right move. It was. I'm no pad thai connesiour by any strech of the word, but this was the best pad thai I've ever had. I think maybe because it had shitake mushrooms in it? It was a bit pricey at $18 but I ended up getting three meals out of it so I'd say it's worth it. My brother order some sort of curry dish that he really liked. He also got an oreo shake for the walk home that was really, really, really good. I'm a fan for sure and this is a welcomed addition to the neighborhood. Love the Paramount South Boston. I always have a wonderful meal every time I visit. Chef Gabriel Cheung is incredible at taking comfort classics and putting a unique spin on them, and he incorporates many different flavors into each meal. If you visit, you MUST try the bbq pulled pork tacos (amazing), the strawberry milkshake, the warm goat cheese, and the glazed salmon. Service is great, and I love the cozy feel of the restaurant (especially on a cold night). Great addition in South Boston! read more

The only reason this review is receiving 2 stars instead of 1 is because the food was decent, but the poor service is to blame for our sub-par experience. I'll keep it short - my friend and I (and her 6 month old who was quietly sleeping in her carriage) ventured to Paramount for a quick lunch on Monday of MLK weekend. After ordering our lunch, we waited for a table to open up and get wiped down. We settled at the last 4-top high table in the back of the restaurant and were done eating within about 20 minutes. No more than 5 minutes after finishing our lunch, one of the bussers came over and rudely told us to get up so she could use that table for other patrons (meanwhile there were no other customers food-in-hand waiting for a table). Servers at even the scummiest bars in Southie would know better than to interrupt paying customers and ask them to leave to give up their table. The Paramount Southie is my go to for just about any occasion! Not kidding, my favorite breakfast in Boston & Greater Boston area (well tied with Paramount Charles St. of course) - I usually get chocolate chip pancakes with fresh strawberries on top, but you really can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Portions are always more than I can manage to eat in one sitting and consistently the best quality around - always fresh fruit & meals are cooked to perfection of your liking. Perhaps most notable though is the service. I recently took my grandparents and upon noticing my grandfather walking in with his walker, the friendly staff immediately helped him find a comfortable seat and adapted the service to make his experience wonderful - he hasn't stopped talking about it since & we will definitely be back soon! read more
