It's not often you get the chance to have brunch on a weekday but today was that day and we decided to try a Boston staple that we had heard so much about - Paramount. Let me start by saying this place blew all of my expectations out of the water. The food (we will get to that in a second) and service were both outstanding. While we lingered contemplating what to order, the hostess offered us a sample of the fresh squeezed OJ which was so great that we ended up ordering it. We had heard so much about the banana caramel French toast that we desperately wanted to order it, but we aren't banana fans. After asking if we could substitute strawberries, the chef didn't bat an eye and said sure no problem. I can safely say the strawberry version is just as amazing if not better - the fruit was fresh, the French toast was the perfect amount of soft doughy goodness, and the delicious caramel rendered syrup useless. To balance out the sweet, we opted for an egg sandwich with bacon and cheese on an everything bagel. As with the French toast, the sandwich was amazing and came with a side of home fries that will not disappoint. For those who are picky about your home fries, these are small, hard, cubed potatoes and the chef added carmelized onions for us which was a nice touch. Don't worry, Paramount, we will be back. read more

I haven't been able to try the brunch food yet, but I've had the food, which is pretty decent. Cucumbers in the ice waters instead of lemons? Nice touch. 3.5/5 stars read more

Held off checking this place out as a possible dinner venue, but glad I finally went. Stopped in on a Friday night and seated almost immediately (I did like that you can order bevs while waiting). Found the menu to be appealing and wound up getting the grilled apple/blue cheese salad and bolognese. Both fantastic. The half salad was huge, resulting in a nice portion of bolognese the next day for lunch! The only issue I had - and it was minor - was service. A little slow to get the first drink order in and sometimes forgotten during the meal. No big deal, but it should be noted. Looking forward to getting this into my rotation! read more

3.5 stars.. Had Saturday breakfast twice once to go and once to dine in.. Food is good, diner cafeteria style, breakfast is good, I think pricey, but super kid friendly.. I agree coffee, oj and breakfast (egg cheese veggie and turkey sausage on an English muffin) all good.. I like being there 8am with all the southie yuppie mamas and daddies and their BOB strollers read more

Really great place to grab breakfast if ever around the area. The food is amazing, and they provide great service. I've been there a couple of times, my advice would be to go a little after 11 to avoid the long lines that are almost always present in the morning. read more

The Paramount is exceptional. We came for dinner and we're impressed with the bread the waiter brought over with hummus and the cucumber water. Both our meals, a reuben and chopped salad, were excellent. read more

Review is for breakfast only. Two stars on Yelp indicates "Meh. I've experienced better", and it seems to capture my thoughts exactly. After having a few great experiences at the Paramount on Beacon Hill I expected a lot more of the Paramount Southie. Unfortunately, I'll be sticking to either Mul's, My Diner or the Galley Diner for Sunday morning eats. The problems start with the ordering/payment system. For one reason or another, the individuals working at the register (even with two people working the counter) can't seem to comprehend that one person can pay and another can pick up the food. My wife got the evil eye twice when picking up our food and was asked "did you pay for that?" Isn't the second person that's not actually keying in the order supposed to keep an eye on things so that you don't have a sour taste in your mouth before taking your first bite? Secondly, if the cooks screw up your order, forget it outright or someone takes your order you're apparently screwed. The second time we went (not a busy day either) three out of four of us got our food, but my wife's order was either forgotten or someone that ordered the same thing took hers. What happened next? The people working at the counter weren't all that concerned and by the time she got her order the rest of our $29 (for two) breakfast order was cold. As others have said, for the prices It would be nice to sit down and be served. The food is pretty good (banana caramel french toast was great), but the portions aren't all that great and the overall experience is lacking. We'll probably give it a shot for dinner, but with a new sushi place just around the corner the Paramount will just have to wait. read more

So I've reviewed this place before and I love the Paramount. When I was there with friends, I noticed that the owner leaves his phone number to text with comments. I texted him saying that we enjoyed our lunch, and he texted me back! Now that is awesome! What a great spot! read more

The Paramount is a hidden jewel in Southie. Yum yum yum! I always get the Asian chicken salad, which is awesome. The Greek salad with chicken, amazing. Sweet potato fries are delicious. guacamole is excellent. We were getting lunch from Paramount for literally months at a time. We would get the same thing everyday! That's how much we loved it! The gals at the counter always knew what I got when I called in my order, which is so nice, but they thought my name was Sarah (which I just roll with!) when I call, but I don't have the heart to tell them it's Kelley!!! Hahaha Really refreshing place in Southie. Try them out if you haven't already! read more

BEST breakfast in Southie. Their lunch selections are awesome too. Everything is fresh and made right in front of you. Just don't be dumb and try to save yourself a seat. You sit after you have your plate. read more

Good location and good food! For a newcomer, the ordering system is kind-of confusing and like a dysfunctional Starbucks. You order with the chef and then pay separately. But the chef doesn't record your order and totally forgot my friend's meal. My food, which took longer to cook, came out about 10 mins before hers. If they had a better ordering system in place, my rating would have definitely been higher. read more

The Paramount is a nice spot to grab breakfast, lunch, or dinner in a casual order-at-the-counter environment. Servers actually bring your food to you and clear dishes when you are done, so you are really getting great service without having to pay for it! The manager was very friendly and made sure we had a positive experience, without being overbearing. The food was very good, nice portion size, tasty, and not overly expensive. I am going back to The Paramount. read more

Surprised to read some bad reviews on here. Paramount is our favorite place too eat in Southie! The food is super fresh and delicious. They have so many great options. Their brunch is our favorite. If you're looking for a fancy place to be served at this is not the spot. If you're looking for fresh great food in laid back environment this place is great for that. 10/10 would recommend read more

I did a decent amount of research looking for a [new] good breakfast place not terribly far from the South Shore and there's a reason this place has as many stars as it does: it's good! I took a friend out for a birthday brunch and neither of us were disappointed. I got the Malted Belgian Waffle and added fresh strawberries/blueberries on top, while my friend got Chocolate Chip Pancakes. The added fruit was surprisingly generous and the pancakes got a good review as well. Parking is definitely tough -- we lucked out with a spot a block away, but you can't fault the restaurant for that -- it's Southie. The line moved pretty quickly at 10ish on a Sunday morning and while my friend was trying to fish what looked like a mint leaf out of her lemonade, a staff member rushed over from behind the counter and insisted on getting her a new one. Impressive to me since we weren't sitting too close to the counter and made no move for attention from staff on a busy Sunday morning. So long as I can find parking, I'll be back. read more

Brunch and lunch are great. Their buffalo chicken wrap is the best. I wouldn't recommend going for dinner. read more

Cute San Francisco themed bistro with Boston influence. Great brunch spot. Lunch starts at 11AM. Beer and wine served.

Everything I have eaten here is bum rubbing goodness. We ordered tomato mozzarella, pad Thai and smoked pork tacos... A very odd order.. And everything was literally some of the best I have ever had. The mozzarella cheese is burrada(excuse the spelling) which was on par with what I got in Italy. Got the app version of the pork tacos, huge portion juicy and perfect. Pad Thai was top notch peanuty goodness. Super fresh. our waitress was both friendly and attentive. I'm not advocating for it but she looked like she could take a punch which is uber important for Southie. I am def going back. read more

Every time anyone goes to visit my sister in Boston, they always go to the Paramount. Tonight was my first time having it... we did get take out... but the lettuce tasted like dirt and the salads were just skimpy in general. I'm so disappointed in the Paramount. read more

Caramel banana french toast? Yes please! The menu here is relatively diverse, and everything is made fresh to order. I've gotten several to-go lunches here, the salads and sandwiches are all tasty but do think through your choices if you're going to walk home with it before eating as sometimes things can get soggy. Dinner is also good, though the ambiance is a little weird-- it's dark, there are candles, you're enjoying some pretty good wine but you still hear the clanking of the exposed cafeteria style kitchen. read more

The food is very good and I love watching the chef work his magic. The place gets pretty busy on weekends and he handles it very well. My complaint is that there's not a lot of seating. Normally it works out pretty well though and by the time you get your food, someone in your group has secured a spot. I am always very mindful of this though; trying not to stay and hang out when people are looking for a seat. Unfortunately, I had barely finished my last sip of orange juice when an employee came over and told us we needed to leave because other people needed our seat. I understand that concept but I felt like she had been watching me sip that last sip and then demand that we leave the seats for other customers. The food is great but you also need good service. read more

I LOVE THE FOOD HERE! I come here often for dinner and they never disappoint, a couple of my favorites are the Paramount Burger and the steak tips dinner. Breakfast/brunch here is also is delicious but expect a line on the weekends if you go any time after 9am. The way the breakfast/brunch is set up is you order at the kitchen first, then pay, then seat yourself. They don't let you save seats which actually works out well since usually by the time you order and pay, tables are open for you to sit at. A few of my brunch favorites are the western omelette, their breakfast sandwiches, and their fresh squeezed orange juice, yum! read more

Great people and service. Stick with the salads. Panini Sandwiches are heavily breaded & greasy. Bring extra napkins.

I have been to the Paramount three times in the past two weeks. Once for breakfast and twice for dinner. My wife joined me for dinner both times. I had been a great fan of the Paramount for years. Then I moved out of state. Well I have returned to South Boston last week. I was quite surprised to see that its rating is only that of 3 1/2 stars. It's because their main entree dishes are fine. Hot and tasty. But their sides; mashed potatoes, Brussels Sprouts, whatever, always arrive cold. Happened to my dinners and my wife's. First evening I complained to the server. Second evening I complained to the server and management. The manager's response was "how can I compensate you?" Uh buddy, do not compensate me. FIX your kitchen problem. Compensate me so I can come back? Not happening. There are enough restaurants in Southie and Boston that I will not have to worry about the Paramount again. 3 1/2 stars? Are a few too many. read more

I've come here for Sunday brunch a couple of times. If you don't time it right (aka get there between 9:30-10:30am on a Sunday), there can be a crazy long line to order but the service is pretty quick so it's not a terrible wait. The food is good but a little on the expensive side. I mainly get their omlettes; last time I got the Tomato, Spinach, and Mozarella omlette, and they put in these thick, fresh slices of mozarella instead of the pre-shredded stuff, which just made my morning. The drinks are pretty pricey. Especially the coffee because even though the price is fairly normal the mugs are really small so you don't get much. On the other hand the juices are big so I guess it all kinda evens out. The last time I went here I was with my sister as we were rolling home from a long night out. We got some snooty looks from another table, but all the staff was nice. Watch out for the snoots. All in all a decent place. Just a little pricey. read more

when I lived in beacon hill, I always wanted to try the charles st location, but was intimidated by the line or just too hungry to wait. I came here on a wed night for dinner with a friend and we got a table right away. They gave us bread with a pesto ish dipping sauce (I did not try but friend liked the dip very much). We ordered a bottle of wine (a good cab/syrah mix) and I got the seared ahi tuna salad as my main while my friend got the black bean burger with a side of broccoli instead of fries. We both enjoyed our meals very much. The tuna on my salad was very fresh and seared perfectly (hate when some places over cook it!) and the sesame dressing was delicious as well. Service was fast and very friendly. Total bill came to around $60, which was very reasonable for 2 dinners and a bottle of wine. I am looking forward to going back! read more

Casual diner in Southie. Went here on a recommendation from our Airbnb host. Typical breakfast options. The service was fast and the food was good. I had the caramel banana French toast...delicious. Had lunch there to go. Ordered a Cobb's Salad. Took forever to get it and the place was empty. Workers were chatting and not working. Took another 5 minutes to get a plastic fork. Not sure why this place is busy. As soon as we walked in we were aggressively ushered to a table that we didn't want to sit at. The waiter continually rushed us to order. Rushed us to eat and rushed us out the door. We weren't even finished with the chips and other apps when our dishes were whisked away without asking. Not only crappy service but the food is really not that good. Pad Thai is a weird sloppy mess...everything is salted beyond belief. Won't be going back. read more

I have never had anything I don't like at Paramount. The service is fast for breakfast and dinner, and the menu is small but diverse. Came to The Paramount on a Saturday afternoon for some brunch. Food looked delicious and reviews pleasing here on Yelp, so my boyfriend and I decided to give it a try. The structure inside the restaurant a little different. You order in the front with the chefs, pay, then are served while seated. I liked that aspect. We decided to order an omelette with sausage, cheddar and bacon, (which came alongside toast and home fries) a single pancake, the caramel and banana French toast and a side of bacon. We also bought two OJs. Off to the table we went, and waited for the food. The omelette and its sides came first. The plate was fairly small. The home fries consisted of a couple chunks of potatoes, that was crunchy, and heavily seasoned. Toast was 1 slice of bread cut in half, with butter on the side. And the omelette, nothing special. Shortly after, came the single pancake. Now I don't know if the chef saw that we were indecisive about the pancake while ordering so he made it smaller, or if they're are sizes, but we got a baby pancake. A skimpy pancake that was gone in three bites, that looked like it was made from an Aunt Jemima 'Just Add Water' pancake mix box. Wasn't a fluffy pancake that you get elsewhere. My boyfriend said that if it didn't have the butter on top, it wouldn't taste like anything. After a few minutes came the rest. The French toast looked delicious, but was also underwhelming. It was okay. I'm glad that I got the caramel and banana because without them, the dish would've been bland. Just like the rest, the bacon was disappointing. Wasn't juicy bacon that you expect, but very dry. How can you ruin bacon? We spent $35 on unimpressive food, and were still hungry. The service, however, was friendly. Needless to say, we won't be returning. read more

Great food and service. Love this place! We go almost every Friday evening and the food is consistently good. Friendly staff and great food at reasonable prices keep us coming back every week. The truffle fries are great and one of my favorite meals is the Peri Peri Chicken Statler. The specials that the chef comes up with are usually outstanding as well. Also like the fact that they don't have TVs or loud music. You can actually sit down and talk to the person you are with without losing your voice from screaming over TVs. You also don't have to wait an hour to be seated. Depending on the time, most of the time you can walk in and get a seat right away. read more
