This bar could benefit from following a cleaning checklist. I was less than impressed with how filthy it was. There was food and debris all over the ground and looked like it hadn't been cleaned in months. For drinks in the immediate area, I prefer Otter on the Rocks. read more

I first came to this bar 2-3 years ago and was not a fan--the drinks were not good and the vibe was very former frat boy trying to relive their youth. However, walking by a year or so ago, I stopped in for a drink and discovered they changed ownership, and the drinks were now spectacular. The bar looks like a mad scientist's lab with booze brewing with different herbs and infusions, but it's not all for show, the drinks are truly unique and delicious. The vibe is a lot more chill than it used to be which I like, but sometimes I wish there were a few more people there because I want to make sure they are around for a long time! read more

This place is one of West Seattle's gems! The ambiance is perfect for just about any occasion, from hanging out with friends having one more than you probably should, to first date night, to second date night, to THIRD date night (and beyond!), to birthdays, to ladies night shenanigans, I tell you what, it's perfect for almost any occasion except maybe sports watching night. Even then you might get lucky and catch the game you want at the rail on their one TV... just ask! The decor and vibe and music are super chill, big front windows on both levels for daytime, nice and low-lit for nighttime, with a great sidewalk front porch. Sometimes it's 90s grunge rock night, sometimes it's modern chill house, but no matter what, it's always fun to listen to. The cocktails, lovingly curated by the owner Cassandra and her new co-owner Cara, are superb. Cassandra and Cara and their bartenders definitely know their drinks and the vibe is always excellent no matter who's shaking the shaker. Weekends bring pop-up sidewalk grub creators, and they also have a small menu of definitely tasty in-house snacks. Cassandra's chicken salad and crackers is a homemade treat and plenty of protein and just enough carbs to make one more drink a definite probability! The Nook should find a nook in your list of awesome places... make it a first stop and then a regular stop, you won't regret it! read more

Cool place and decent drinks so long as you're okay with your bartender watching tv and petting their dog while it's sitting on the booth shedding everywhere, and then making your drinks without washing their hands. Dog hair was left all over the booth when the dog got up. read more

It's was a cute cozy feeling when walking in. Definitely a local place. Drinks are very expensive and just ok. My biggest feedback would be cleanliness and allowing dogs into the bar. I'm usually ok with this but at one point there where 3 dogs in a very small space, with the bartenders playing, petting and serving water to the dog then going back and making drinks without washing their hands. At that point it just turned me off. :-( read more

There is something ineffable about The Nook. It is sort of like being in a fantastic library straight out of your favorite book - except all the books are bottles of alcohol. Maybe that is why they called it The Nook, because all you want to do is curl up here with a good cocktail and disappear for awhile. While being quite small, it seems the perfect size. The glassware is eclectic and makes you wonder if they scoured antique shops for each individual piece. I don't know why this is so appealing, but it is. It makes you feel super fancy, which is hard to find in West Seattle bars. Beyond the charm of this place, the cocktails were clutch. Some of the best you can find in West Seattle, hands down. It seems the owners, brothers, know their way around the wine, beer and spirits industry pretty darn well. They also know how to make a damn good cocktail, and were very nice, which is helpful in such a small joint. The prices were a bit spendy, but not extravagantly so, especially for the quality. The snacks were very good, well made and tasty. However, I would love to see a few more snack options so that this could be more of a cocktail and appetizer place. Although I do recognize that space is limited, I am just greedy. There is an upstairs to this place and a tiny outdoors patio. In this part of West Seattle, it can be daunting finding parking. Yet, this place is a lot closer than my other favorite cocktail bars in Capitol Hill and Fremont, so i guess it balances out. Two more things. 1: the music in here is perfect. 2: This little place can get pretty busy. read more

The Nook in West Seattle has an awesome atmosphere, the staff are great and make very creative drinks.It's a small place so if you have a group of more the 6 go early. They do have a loft with some a setup that's more like a living room then a bar, with couches and chairs. A group of us took a friend for her birthday and we all had a great time. read more

I've gone here a handful of times. Most recently with a few girlfriends and it was great. The bartender was so kind and made me a specialty drink off the menu to accommodate to the fact I wanted something cocktail-esque but with more alcohol and less syrups in it. Their cocktails themselves are still really awesome too. I haven't had anything I don't like. The decor is very welcoming and cozy. It's a good place to stop by for a drink or two and chat with friends, for sure. read more

I've been here twice within the last 6 months and the drinks are incredible. My only discomfort is the cleanliness of the space, especially the upstairs bathroom. Both times it's been very dusty/dirty and I can tell nothing has been dusted or cleaned in a while. Otherwise it's a cozy space with thoughtfully crafted cocktails. read more

I may be biased but how could anyone leave less than a 5 star review of this place!! I've been going here for over two years and always had a delightful experience no matter who was serving! They are very dog friendly and I love that who coldnt love dogs and cocktails?!? It's amazing! The drinks are fairly priced for a Seattle endeavors! Also as a side note I left my bag there and came back fairly close to when I left it, my bag was already in the back on a hook. While I go here pretty infrequently I think I may come more often, they have a great ability of recognizing returning patrons and I have a soft spot for that. Mind you the last time I came in was close to a year and they still remembered me by NAME!!! I love this place and will never stop supporting. While they may be busy sometimes and not tailor to that, that's a part of owning a business! I love them and recommend this place to any of my friends visiting :) I wish I could say we were all close but we're not, this place is amazing! So happy to welcome The Nook to the neighborhood. There certainly isn't any shortage of bars in West Seattle, but these guys knew exactly what the neighborhood was lacking and have filled a void I didn't even realize was there. Fantastic service, great atmosphere, cozy lounges, and very tasty drinks. Heavy emphasis on creating great cocktails without the distractions of a sports bar or full restaurant. Already looking forward to our next visit. (My only suggestion would be for the owners to cover up the high/second story windows at the front - the harsh light from the street lamp just outside slightly hurts the cozy atmosphere) read more

Went for a holiday drink last night with an old friend. We both had to get out immediately after our first cocktail. The female bartender was abrasive & the choice of music was NOT conducive to enjoying the cozy ambiance. More like you'd expect in a head banger bar. A huge dog was sprawled on the cushioned bench & took up the best seats. We both were not impressed to see the bartender allowed this where people usually sit! Sad to say we won't go back. Bar needs a good cleaning. Used to like it there, but will give our business to another local spot. Went to the Matador afterwards & as usual, it was great in every way. read more

This is a great neighborhood hangout although we live on the south side if W seattle but worth the drive. They have a great G&T but ya muddled cucumbers- it's so refreshing. It's a nice chill bar. We have only been twice but the bartender remember us and our drinks. If we lived closer we'd probably be there a lot more. They brought the wrong drink but needed up letting us drink it - it's called Seattle Grey and it was really good too. read more

What a great craft cocktail location in the neighborhood! I've been here a handful of times and absolutely love this place. While the space is not that big, they utilize it very well with bar seats, window seats and a lounge seating area on the main floor and a very cozy and quaint upstairs full of vintage flair from their chairs to their decor. The bartenders are always nice and their concoctions are so good. My go-to drink here is the Seattle grey - earl grey infused vodka, pamplemousse and club soda, but I return to try some new ones as well. They never disappoint! I have yet to try their coffee in the mornings, but it's a great place to go to for HH in the West Seattle neighborhood. read more

Really charming little bar. 4 stars due to the bar being a bit dirty on my experience (early evening). That may have been due to 1 employee on staff as far as I can tell and he was fairly busy. Super cute bar in The Admiral junction with great drinks, super friendly bartenders, & cafe by day! The space is hip yet relaxed. There's a loft with lots of comfy seating that you could probably spend all day & night hanging out in. The drinks are unique, seasonal, & just the right amount of strong. This place serves coffee, tea, & a few bfast items as well. I've never been for coffee but it would be a GREAT spot for working or reading on a slow morning. The Nook is, in my opinion, hands down the best bar for artfully and thoughtfully made cocktails in West Seattle. It reminds me of Hazelwood in Ballard, only easier to access and more approachable. I haven't reviewed the Nook yet (because, really, do they need more ***** reviews?), but I've done my damndest to get all my mom-friends into the Nook cult. But NOW the Nook is open for coffee!!! I have yet to bring in my beloved germ-infested kids, but my husband and I snuck in for a quick coffee date last week. The space is just as beautiful in the daylight, the coffees we had were great (americano). The music was a bit loud for me (but I'm 35 going on 80, so take that with a grain of salt). The pastry selection could be improved. Overall it is a great spot and I am psyched for a GOOD coffee spot near my house. Can't wait to return. read more

My friend & I needed to kill time before we met friends for dinner so decided to stop in. We were excited to check it out & try some fun drinks but the bartender that night, he had a beard I think (dark hair?) & I doubt he even mentioned his name to us, didn't seem too interested in his job. He wasn't friendly & when we asked about the drinks he didn't seem like he wanted to answer them, just said they were good if you liked whiskey... like okay, cool. I've worked in hospitality for years & it was always so simple to me.. you work in customer service so... do your job. Also, he was on his phone the entire time behind the bar. We went here around when they first opened, and the brothers were affable and the drinks were delightful. They cared as much about our drinks as the presentation and glass. I've been to other cocktail bars in Seattle, and many of them are so annoyingly pretentious. We've gone back a few times as it's become more popular and crowded. Of course, a week prior to my move to California I discover NOOK. Go figure! This would have easily been my 'go-to' for the days to come. I blame it on the location being a secluded/hidden 'nook' off California Ave in the Admiral District. My partner and I came here after being disappointed at Alchemy in the Junction and had discovered it on Yelp. From the minute we stepped foot in to NOOK, we felt welcomed by Johnny and Jimbo as we bonded through conversation. J&J are two brothers who built the rustic interiors from the floor up. Not to mention, they both make killer cocktails. After seeing a Yelp photo of a Campfire Mule, I needed to have one stat. Johnny stirred one up for me even though this winter special was no longer on the menu. They also offer a few small snacks but no larger bites, so be sure to stop somewhere on your way in to prepare your stomach for a future of craft cocktail perfection. The NOOK has 2 HUGE problems: 1) I didn't know about them earlier! 2) Now so many other places aren't nearly as shiny after my awesome experience here. First things first, OMG THE COCKTAILS!!! OMG THE WHISKEY SELECTION!!! OMG THE AWESOME BARTENDERS!!! Not only was I able to find a whiskey that I am often unable to find at most bars, the bartender also knew exactly how it was supposed to be served without even asking! I also tried several other cocktails from other members of my group, and each was fantastic. Some of the girls got crazy with it and left it up to bartender's choice; I think I need to let those bartenders choose every drink I have from now until the end of time. Second, the food was really great. Fun bites that are super tasty. Now I'm hungry... Third, the space/decor is awesome. It's quirky and fun in all the right ways that many places wish they could pull off. I look forward to my next visit here, and if you haven't been yet, be sure you get there soon! read more

Perfect spot to meet up for cocktails. Their menu is very creative. The Romero Fumar is probably my favorite cocktail on their menu, a mezcal based drink with a sprig of rosemary... that they take a blowtorch to and let smolder briefly before drinking. As you begin to take your first sip... the smell of the burning rosemary transports you to memories around a campfire. So creative. The upstairs has fun seating as well, so if you walk by and think "too crowded," think again! Enjoy! read more
