The Experience When you enter the Meteor one side is lined with champagne and wine. This was the coolest part along the with next door bike shop. If you need to lube your intestines with food and drink or lube your bike with oil, the Meteor has you covered. The other side had more drinks in fridges but also tables separated for some socially distanced eating. We ordered at the counter and our food was brought out to us after a few minutes. The Accoutrements What was great about this blueberry muffin is that it didn't slap you in the face with sugar. The lack of over sweetness in the cake let the blueberry shine through. The Main Course It was this plate where things started to go downhill for the Meteor. The pork sausage was excellent but the party stopped there. The potatoes were undercooked like my writing ability. The eggs had runny yolk (yay) but also runny whites (nay). One yolk had broken during cooking and was flipped over like me trying to hide a bad report card from my parents. The salad was a few vegetables that were thrown on a plate with no dressing. Not bad per se but literally a small puppy with a chef hat could have assembled it. The Verdict The Meteor is exceedingly cool. The neon signs and the vast collection of alcohol are enough to draw anyone in. However, when it came to a pretty simple breakfast plate Meteor fell short of its ambiance. Come for some drinks and maybe a bike, but you may need to search through their menu to find what food they do best. read more

This is a great little bike shop. I discovered it after Trek could not fix my bike. John is a great bike mechanic. He figured out the problem and made it right.All the staff were friendly and helpful. The coffee shop is next door and nice bonus to a cool bike shop. read more

I stopped in yesterday because I had seen this place and really wanted to check it out. I just got drip coffee. They gave it to me in a nice cup and with a little pitcher, I thought it was creamer but to my suprise it was more coffee! A bit in refill. The coffee was good and I hung out a little and it was a nice shop. I'd love to ride there sometime on my bike since it is very bike focused. A bit mixed experience here, but I do like the place and their staff. The mixed part is consistency. I've had their Chicken "Shawarma" bowl three times and I feel like it's been different each time with it gradually getting worse and worse unfortunately (it was fantastic the first time). For one thing, the tahini portion has gotten smaller each time to the point where it was nearly non existent the last time. Plus the accompanying rice was really odd this last visit too. In the one portion of rice, there were two versions of it. Half of the rice seemed ready to throw out old, crusty, and dried out and the other half fresh and fluffy. And I don't know why they call it Chicken "Shawarma" when the very definition of Shawarma means meat being cooked on a spit (there is no spit to be found in the open view of their kitchen plus the chicken itself is a sliced chicken thigh so not shaved off the spit as is the case with Shawarma). Perhaps name it Shawarma inspired? Also, their espresso was great the first time I had it with it not being nearly as good the second time. Outside of the consistency issue, my being a stickler for accurately naming your menu items, and what I felt was a lackluster "special" pizza that I had here once, I like their vibe and their selection of wine is great. This place has great coffee, food and some of the best wine in town. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable. I am studying to try to get into a new career so my favorite thing to do after work used to be to come grab a coffee/wine and dinner and study here but unfortunately they no longer let you use the WiFi after 5 so I won't be able to come here anymore for my favorite treat and will have to study at home :( if you are vegan the Frank's homemade nut milk will blow your mind in a mocha and the wines by the glass always are stellar. Giving only 4 stars because I hate change and that I can't come here and study anymore. read more

This review is for 4.5 stars. I really liked Meteor so not sure about the negative reviews. The cashier was kinda standoffish and weird when I asked for my pick up order, but overall a great experience and good looking food. I can definitely see the price as a deterrent but I was happy with my meal. Not saying I'd be here daily for a $17 bowl of rice with avocado and chicken, but certainly could see it as a leisurely splurge or casual business lunch. My logical bowl hit the spot and just looked great. Chicken fresh and avocado addition was surprisingly large. Can only imagine price of wine and beer is similar to the food, but selection is fantastic and they had some great by the can options for beer that rival any bar int he city. And wine game is fantastic either for glass or bottle, as well. Indoor and outdoor seating and ordering online is fast and efficient. Easy parking for quick in an out. One of my favorite spots in Austin. Chill and laid-back atmosphere, with outdoor seating in the front and back. I enjoy sitting inside, amongst the beautiful array, and assortment of wine bottles. And every now and then, especially if I have a date, I'll grab a bottle of wine from this spot. Speaking of which, this is a good place to either chill by yourself, with family and friends, or bring a lovely date with you to enjoy this spot. Five stars! Highly recommended. read more

A Mecca for avid cyclists. It cafe / bar exudes Austin and it's ethos. A chill laid back joint for lovers of outdoors, wines (vast selection local to foreign), beers on tap, AMAZING coffee, fresh and delicious made in house menu including unique scrumptious baked goods. Some of my favorites - their burgers (cheeseburger as well as the black bean), pizza (if you're not feeling stingy on the carbs). Definitely try their chocolate brownie (it's gluten free and vegan but so fudgy and yumm). They have plenty of seating in their outdoor patio which is especially nice in the evenings. The big fans and mist sprayers definitely appease in the brutal summers. I thought Texas summers may slow down some of the lunch and happy hour rush but I'm wrong, this place is always brimming with hungry thirsty and fun loving peeps. I do have to mention that I love the fact they've never shied away from helping the community. When Snowgeddon compromised water and electricity, they were one of the few open to giving out free water and food in their parking lot to people in need. I went to lunch today with a friend at The Meteor. I was on a time crunch and due to the fact it is directly across the street from her condo, we went. I really liked the area the restaurant is in. There's lots of shops, restaurants, and great people watching. The restaurant itself was clean and charming. We chose to sit out back where there were picnic tables and umbrellas. My friend ordered a salad and I ordered a veggie burger. When the food arrived I was happy with the portion sizes. I would say the taste of the food was mediocre. My friend was less than thrilled with her salad and opted to share my burger. Neither of us are vegetarians but the veggie burger sounded good on the menu. Maybe next time we should opt for the unhealthy dishes. Overall I give it 3 stars. read more

Man....this place could be awesome and sometimes is great. We live close by and give it try after try and it just doesn't deliver a consistent experience. The service is really spotty, some of the folks you interact with are fantastic. Others make you feel dumb for trying to order a cold brew when they're "out" at 9am. Or when they haven't made ice yet, for some inexplicable reason. No doubt it can be stressful working on south congress with the amount of foot traffic that comes through, but we hope they can turn it around on the service side because it can be a great place to visit! read more

They say even mediocre pizza is pretty good. After a few bites of this pizza I've decided to spend the rest of my lunch on Yelp as this box sits in the trash. This pizza is absolute garbage! When four pieces of pizza is $16 you best bring your A game. This pizza couldn't be saved if AA and triple A combined forces. I had this delivered and it arrived looking like something I would not expect anyone to eat. I got the impression that this was made earlier, sat in a case and was reheated to deliver to me cold and underwhelming. The crust was a thick, dense and flavorless chore to chew through as I endured a sauce that was painfully bland and a discolored cheese that looked like leftovers from yesterday. I wish I could erase the part of my brain where I saw and tasted this terrible mess. Sometimes food just misses the mark. This was so bad that I'm offended. read more

Cute, but I agree with what everyone is saying about it being overpriced. The food is way too expensive for how much you get and how good it is. I paid over $4 for some steeped tea and they don't even give you the tea leaves for a second steeping. When I asked about a second steeping she said she'd have to charge me a refill. The atmosphere is really nice, but I hate places that nickel and dime. There was only about 12 oz of tea. Not worth it in my opinion. We've eaten at The Meteor a few times -- but only for brunch. Good during Covid because they have a ton of outdoor space (and a few toys for kids). The food is good -- not out of this world -- but good for what amounts to a coffee shop. The waffles are the best thing on the menu: large, delicious, with a savory undertone because they're made with sourdough. Highly recommend. Good pastries. Ordered the eggs, with potatoes, and a sausage patty. The eggs weren't cooked over easy, they were over medium, the potatoes were not anything special, and even the sausage patty was a little off. Awesome outdoor patio in the back, ample parking in the front, friendly staff, and a great burger (the bun tho ). Lots of wines inside and a great place to hang out if you have friends who wants a variety of options. Honestly only critique is that the back patio is full of a very deep gravel. Like... several inches deep. It looks really cute and is clean BUT it's very hard to walk on. We had some ppl in our group in heels and they struggled a little and even I felt that wearing flat footed shoes. The only reason I was up walking is the water cups are very small, and the fill up tank is near the back door. I think simple carafes with water in them would go a long way in this regard, as grossing the gravel 1-2 times isn't bad but on trip #9 it just felt unnecessary, Otherwise, awesome place and I would definitely go again! read more

A bit odd to me that everyone is basing their reviews on their mediocre food and not even mentioning the wine... this is a natural wine haven. I had no idea what I was getting myself into when I stumbled upon this place and was delighted to find some of my absolute favourite pet nats and oranges stored beautifully in the entry corridor fridges, not to mention the hundred different bottles stacked on the opposite end. Found out they have a wine club - 6 bottles/month for $150 with free delivery. Super cool. Some nice draft beers and a really delicious lemongrass iced tea. Will be back read more

The pork sausage wasn't cooked thoroughly and the bread was cold on the breakfast sandwich. The dish with eggs, greens, quinoa, and bacon had no flavor outside of being just spicy and eggs were cooked wrong. Potatoes were hard and cold. The modified avocado toast was burnt. Okay for specific dishes I can think of better places to get a pizza or a sandwich but I can't think of a spot with such a cool aesthetic and feel that works all times of the day.
