The short walk from train to saloon has been well reported on, a few steps inside I could see the bar was shoulder too shoulder, but managed a breif position at the far end. (very possessive of their positions, if even to pass by. Yet all tables were quite empty, the long grey tables that could sit ten people each looked good enough, the seats are a bit short and flimsy. I sat sipoed my beautifully poured German Heffe bier, I was quickly at ease and scanned all of the well placed HD TV's with lotsa college football going on. Then another and another. The menu read appealing enough that I suggested foregoing or at least detouring our dinner plans to stay for Chimmichurri Wings andva Cubano Stuffed Pretzel -- so many more wonderful creations. Similar to a Southfork Salt & Pepper Box build style with high arched ceilings, Wainscot and such, the structure is adorable from the inside. I had high hopes for this new spot in my hometown. What I must say is the servers were wonderful. The young lady who helped us find a table in this nicely renovated bar. Our server was very friendly & helped my dad & I choose from the many beers they had to offer. I got the Einstock beer. Light with a hint of fruit. Pretty good but I liked what my dad got better. My dad got the Hofbrau Dunkel. I really liked this dark beer & I'm usually not a dark beer drinker. But this I would drink often. Now the downside for me was the food. The menu looked great in concept. But Kinda got lost in translation in the execution. We started with the Cuban stuffed pretzels. Pretzel was delicious but there was no meat hardly. And could barely taste the pickles. I ordered the Banh Mi sandwich which is a soy chili braised pork, carrots, cucumbers in a jalapeño cilantro mayo. Sounds good right?! It was extremely salty with no other flavor notes. More like a pulled pork in soy sauce. The veggies lacked crunch & zip which is what gives a Banh Mi its allure. My dad got the brats on a pretzel roll. I prefer my brats whole, but these were sliced. Not a big deal but they lacked flavor. Actually couldn't taste the brat at all but once again, the pretzel roll was delicious. My son ordered the chicken sandwich. THAT was a good sandwich. Everything was served with fries or housemade chips. Both were good in flavor but could've been hotter. Fries were limp & lukewarm. It's a new place, there will be some kinks to work out. It's more like a sports bar atmosphere with TVs all around and because of the way the place is built with everybody talking it is very loud The Waiting staff was very friendly and helpful in having you choose the massive amounts of imported and domestic beers and I had a couple of different types and all of them were delicious Now comes the food, I ordered grilled brats with red cabbage on a pretzel bun the pretzel bun was good what the brat and red cabbage was very Bland and Chrissy had a pulled pork sandwich what she said was too salty maybe it's because they're just getting started I would definitely give them another try just for the beers read more

Nice little spot next to the Babylon train station. They have an offer of 1 free drink that was easily honored, so that's a plus. Interesting cocktail menu, sufficient beer offerings. My wife and I came to The Local in Babylon on a wim. This is the first time we have been in Babylon in about 4 years. Local is great its a minute if that from the LIRR. Food was above average to very good. We had a Nashville Chicken sliders as an app and they were probably one of the best apps we've had in a while. I ordered the wings as an entre cause the sliders were filling, the wings came in various sauces, but i got the local which is a combo of BBQ sauce and Hot Sauce pretty good. My wife got the Pow Pow shrimp tacos which were good. The tacos had a Thai chilli sauce which was decent. Great location right next to the train station with absolutely delicious food and drinks! I wouldn't come here for a date night (it gets loud and crowded) but it's great for a fun night out with friends or a pre/post trip on the train. The wait on a Friday night was over an hour but we were able to sit and eat at the bar instead. There was a good cocktail and beer selection and minus the wait for a table the service was quick and good. Def recommend! read more

I've been here a couple if times and always enjoy the drinks. I'm obsessed with the wagyu sliders, they might be the best thing on the menu and the reason we keep coming back. I've enjoyed the food I've gotten there for the most part but I have to say the crunchwrap was very hard to eat. They smother it with cheese sauce (which is very tasty) so you can't pick it up and it falls apart when you eat it. Other than that it's a great place and one of my go-to's. Awesome guy, gave us plenty of suggestions on what to order and was so accommodating. We really loved the lunch here- I tried the fried chicken sandwich and my friend tried the thai chicken wrap- both were delicious and large servings. The Local really is a great local spot to hangout for a casual drink and surprisingly great food. Their menu has a good mixture of staples and unique foods. I've been able to find delicious menu items that can be made gluten free and my vegetarian friend has found plenty to enjoy as well. The bartenders always make a delicious drink and are ready with suggestions whenever we ask. Most recently we attended Trivia Tuesday here. It was a ton of fun and well organized. The trivia was a really good mix of questions and we made friends with the people around us as we played which was nice. We ended up staying much later than we planned because of Trivia. One of their coolest aspects, which I haven't personalized taken advantage of, is that you can get any beer on tap put into a can right in front of you, so it's sealed and ready to take on the train (located just a few feet away). I've seen plenty of people come in and get this while I've been there and the staff always works super quickly to make sure they can get their drinks and get on the train in time. Only downside, which isn't their fault, is parking can be rough because it's right next to the train. Still, it's worth it! read more

Attended a few events and occasions here. One for Super Bowl 2018. They did it up right. Fixed price, never ending appies that just kept coming. (Little heavy on the meat and fried food (which I don't eat but...) traditional pub fare suited the appetites of my table and company - lots of big, burly manly men. Second event was for a girlfriends b-day and it was a good time. Couple down sides if I had to support my reduction of a star. Had attempted to come in one evening and it was packed, the issue was that the venue has no means to absorb the sound- it was overwhelmingly loud and sadly we had to leave. That coupled with exceptionally disorganized bar service. The bartenders seem to pick their favorites and leave the rest of us "nobody's" to the way side. At my age, I've been there, done that and get it... however if you want a good review and possible repeat business... something to consider. Lastly, not the venues fault however... before Wayne took over this spot and renovated, it was a pretty sketchy bar with some "displaced, disadvantaged folks mulling about. Just something to be mindful as your entering or exiting. Very large bouncers monitor the outside and safety is definitely top notch. read more

Really good. We had the shrimp tacos, spicy but smelled fishy. The wings were really good too, very inventive flavors, gigantic. Try the jerk seasoning. Solid 3.5 place, rounded up to a 4 b/c of the fantastic beer list. Got myself a flight of five 1oz tastes. Duclaw on tap, LIC in tap, and several other local beers. The DuClaw sour and sweet Java were incredible beers. If I wasn't driving I probably would have had a full pint or two of the java. Service is great and the space is really nice. Next time I fall asleep on the train and wake up in Babylon, I'll stop by here before calling an Uber. read more

I went to the local the first time on Sunday 9/10 I went on a first date and great place for it. The bartender Marley was beyond helpful when I asked for a non acholic drink she had a Sam Adam's IPA I've never had one before and let me tell you it was so good! Def order more so when I come back it's there! We ordered the shrimp tacos and steak tacos they were delicious . I asked for more heat while ordering and I got it with a side of fresh jalepenos ! Came here for lunch on a indecisive (weather) Saturday afternoon. The food was good. We were originally just going to order 3 entrees but when my eyes landed on the buffalo chicken egg roll, like what! I was intrigued. It was surprisingly delicious. The egg roll was stuffed with shredded buffalo chicken, and came with a side of blue cheese dressing. For my entree, I wanted something on the lighter side so I went with the Thai chicken wrap with a side of cucumber salad. All in all everything that I had at the Local was great. The last time I came here I tried some of their food and it was actually really good for "bar food". I don't usually like pork but a friend told me to try the pork sandwich and i didn't regret it. Their prices are reasonable and drinks aren't watered down. It does get packed for parties and game days because the space isn't that big. All in all a good spot to eat. I ordered the dirty bird, which was buttermilk chicken with cheddar and bacon over cornbread. There was a spicy maple syrup over it. It was great. This place definitely has potential, just needs to work out some new business kinks! Our food took an excessively long time to come out but it was worth it when it did. We came for brunch and I split the breakfast pizza off the specials menu...would have preferred if it was on something other than a tortilla but it was still good and very flavorful. The portion sizes were very small on the chicken and cornbread dish and the other special of frittatas but both tasted great! My sister got the Nutella and berries French toast but said the ratio of Nutella to berries was 70/30 and would have preferred a bit more even, also good tho. I went with a Dunkel first, then a Hefeweizen, then an Einstok. A friend of mine saw a post online about a buffalo chicken egg roll. As we were watching this video in awe, we realized that it was right here in babylon. So we were amused and eager to try this place out as soon as we had the opportunity. We went on an evening over a weekend and it wasn't as crowded as I'd expected, but that wasn't a bad thing. The food came out quick and the Buffalo chicken egg roll was just as great, if not better than we had hoped. The drinks were decently priced and the environment was wicked. Windows were open and a nice breeze was coming in, so it didn't even feel as if we were inside. This place was probably one of the better restaurants in babylon village and I am definitely going to go back. read more
