This is a long review, so here's the summary if you don't want to read the whole thing: this rating is for their wash-n-fold service only. I dropped off a HUGE amount of laundry and it was ready WAY quicker than expected and without wrinkles. Clean, folded, wrinkle-free clothes. 5stars. The rest of the story... Setting the scene: I had let my laundry get OUT OF HAND. We are talking $100 worth of wash-n-fold service. So what did I do? I went to Yelp in hopes of finding the best solution. This place was one of two that I ended up trying. The other is Michael A Laundromat (who will be receiving a 3star review). I took half of my laundry to each place. At this place: I dropped my stuff of around 11/11:30am. I was hoping to get it back same day around 6pm. They offer same-day service, so that's what I was hoping for, knowing, however, that it was almost noon. The people running the place: I was helped by a lady who helped me weigh my clothes and ask for any special instructions. Cordial but not overly nice. This place was bigger than Michael A's and looked like there were probably 2 people available to work it. Timeliness: This is what blew my mind. I got a call around 3:30/4pm that my stuff was ready. A full 1.5hrs earlier than I was quoted. Wow! Quality of actual wash-n-fold: This also blew my mind. Neatly folded stuff, and (here's the key) NOT WRINKLED. I do wish my polos had been hung, but I didn't request that. And when I hung them when I got home...you guessed it...no wrinkles. Clean, wrinkle-free, and folded. And they did it CRAZY quickly. 4stars for quality and 1star for the timeliness. Hopefully, my laundry won't ever get out of hand like this again, but if I need wash-n-fold service again, this is where I'll be headed. read more

This place is a fantastic find!! I live about 1.5 miles from The Laundry Spot. I don't own a washer/dryer, so if I'm not giving my buddies a 6 pack to let me wash clothes at their house, I find myself in washaterias. Here's why this is the best one I've been in, in Austin. - FREE WIFI allowing me to do some work, while I washed. - They had extra large washers and dryers, which allowed me to load multiple loads, and save me time. - The coin machines worked. - There is an attendant on duty, and today's was really friendly. She took the time to show me the different machines and explain how they work. - The machines I used worked. - They have a drop-off wash and fold service. - It's a/c'd - Convenience store next door. - They had detergent there, if you forget yours. - They utilize Belly there, so you can earn freebies - They have folding tables, carts w/ hanging bar, chairs, bar stools, and a table where I did my work. Can't complain about a thing. I will be back no doubt!! read more

I hate going to the laundromat, but I love this laundromat! I gave it a try because for the first time in my life I do not have a washer & dryer at home. This spot is right around the corner, and luckily so. I was prepared to drive so as not to go to a shady, malfunctioning laundromat with my precious clothes, but this is the only 5 star one around & it is right next to me! It is always the same gentleman working there, and he is so friendly & helpful! I had a horrible snafu when I accidentally put in my roommates red towel in with my beautiful new expensive white sheets & he came right over to digitally stop & drain the machine. He even took pity on me & donated some bleach, & then restarted the same wash cycle I paid for again without further charge. SAVED!!! - my sheets are white again. I have taken so much wash here that I needed to make 4 trips to my car, so at that point it got really expensive since I was washing all of my bedding, but they have washers of varying sizes, both front load & top load, for whatever your need. The smallest single load washers are only $1.75 for a basic wash, whereas the giant washers are $5.75. Dryers come in two sizes- large and very large, lol, but you only need to deposit as much money as time that you need. Every quarter is 6 minutes. They also have a change machine in the back. All the machines are clean (I always seem to come around closing so I personally see the attendant cleaning all the machines), & efficient. Gentle wash & powerful drying. They even have roller carts with a clothing bar up top, and large folding tables. Free wifi! Washing machines turn off at 9pm, but they close at 10pm so you can finish up with the dryers. No dry cleaning- only wash and fold service. read more

Came right after work on a Tuesday and found many washer available. The facility is bright open and airy. There are lots of washers and dryers in a variety of sizes to choose from. Here are some prices for DIY laundry: One load washer $2 per load Two load washer $1.75 per load (I inquired at the price being lower despite larger capacity. The attendant told me that it uses less water and is more Eco friendly as well as washes the clothes much better AND takes less time.) Four load washer $3.75 per load Six load washer $5.75 per load Smaller dryers $0.25/6 minutes approx $1.25 per 30 min to dry the load Large capacity dryers $0.50 to start the dryer at 5 min, then $0.25 each subsequent 5 minutes. Wash and fold services $1/lb Overall a great deal, a great facility, and great machines. I will definitely be back! read more

I had not been to a laundromat since I moved to Austin from NYC more than a year ago. What a way to strike up some memories. Unlike the nightmare-inducing laundromat experiences of yore (i.e. NYC), The Laundry Spot provided a great experience. I actually ENJOYED doing the washing (had big comforters that would not fit in my home machine). The large LED screen at the front shows you which machines are available (not that you need this - the place is small). The machines are all pretty new, they have machines of all sizes, and everything works! Also, each machine has a visible time on it, so you know how long is left. The space is insanely clean, they have strong WiFI, and plenty of space to sit and read/work/type while you wait. Plenty of change machines that work well, including ones that will break large bills into smaller bills so you're not dealing with $20 in quarters. I LOVE THIS PLACE. Weird... it's a laundromat. Who loves a laundromat? I do, because I hate doing laundry... or I used to hate doing laundry (even back when I had my own w/d because it took forever... one load at a time)... but now it's not so bad. In fact, I kinda don't mind it at all... and I'm so glad I found this place because... a) It's SUPER CLEAN. Everything in here is super clean... the machines, the folding tables, the floors... they keep this place sparkling, and they are constantly cleaning all during the day... not just at closing. I don't feel grossed out, which is the only experience I'd ever had with laundromats before. b) All the machines are shiny and new and in great working order. They're mostly front loaders, which are better for your clothes (no twisting), though they do have a few top loaders for those who want that. The one time that I had a problem figuring out a machine, the courteous attendant came over and helped. Awesome. c) Great wi-fi. d) You can do larger loads which ends up being cheaper. They have machines that do two, four or six loads at one time (little symbols on the machines that look like laundry baskets indicate the capacity), so occasionally when I want to do ALL the comforters and blankets, I can. Check it out! (And if you want to have an even more awesome laundry experience, try Mrs. Meyer's laundry soap in Lavender. It smells soooo good... I want to bury my face in my clean, fresh-from-the-dryer laundry. You can get this stuff at HEB.) read more

I'm always trying to find the next best laundromat. I've been here once before and overall, its... Meh. The facilities are CLEAN. Almost immaculately. This is nice little building. Decorated and kept up well. Large windows for plenty of natural sunlight and brightly painted walls. The machines are nice, ALL in great working condition. I like this laundry place for really only one thing: they have a change machine that will convert your nickels and dimes into quarters. It's pretty convenient because I can just grab my change jar and Tada! The cons: because of the large windows it is hot in here. Combined with people moving and hot machines running, it gets really uncomfortable. There is like no where to sit if there are more than 5 people here. And it's incredibly crowded. I know we are here to do laundry, but there is a bit of down time. So it's ok... Its definitely not an horrible place. Its actually nice and clean. I never have to go to a wash and fold but had to one time...and this happened.... The clerk behind the counter actually said to me after I paid "do me a favor? don't ever come here again" I was stupefied that an attendant would actually tell a customer not to return. I stared at him, speechless...(in retrospect, I'm thinking maybe it's because I didn't tip him...and in hindsight, I'm glad I didn't) Then he aggressively accused me of being "rude" because the day before I had "parked in two spaces" and today I was "rude again." What really happened was the day before, I suddenly realized I accidently parked in the handicapped spot and quickly pulled out and back in again so as not to block that space. I had no idea re-parking properly would be perceived as "rude." When I arrived today, he couldn't seem to find my clothes and while I waited and he looked, my dog set off my car alarm so I said..."can you hurry? My dog is terrified with that alarm going off." He didn't answer, so I ran out to unlock the car so the alarm would stop. If I owned this business, I would not want some kid at the front desk arbitrarily telling customers not to come back. But maybe they have all the business they need. (Oh, and the blanket I had washed now smells like the inside of a dirty dryer) Live and learn. read more

Definitely the coolest public laundromat I've ever been too. Super clean and spacious, well-lit and actually has cool interior design (I know!! In a laundromat?!) There's always friendly and helpful staff person available. Oh! And free wi-fi as well as multiple TV's plenty of seats and tons of parking in the front and back. Last wash 9pm 7 days per week. Sweet! And super affordable if you want to drop off your laundry and have it washed for you. Good job 'The Laundry Spot'!!! read more

I've been coming to here for four months...I cheated once and went to my old laundry place in south Austin...only to realize The Laundry Spot is cheaper and the dryers work better. This place is smaller than some other but there are always washers available when I go, the dryers work, the prices aren't outrageous, the place is clean, and the staff is always friendly. It's next to a convenient store and a quaint local dive bar. It hours are better than some others, with the last wash at 9pm. Things to note: There isn't a ton of seating. There's one T.V. It's still coin operated (unlike the fancy new places that use a card). read more

Okay, here's the deal. You have likely just read the business owner's description and you were thinking yeah, yeah, typical P.R. marketing garbage. If their self-description is that great, they must REEEEALLY be lousy. But NOPE, and guess what? The Laundry Spot is BETTER than the description. I have been using the laundromat at that location for over 30 years. Before now, it was a decent enough place to shift the dirt. Pretty much like any other coin laundry ... But now I get a door hanger announcing the grand remodeling and a new business name. My girlfriend is visiting from Australia and I am showing her the glories of Our Fair City. Where do we start? The Laundry Spot! Is she gobsmacked by the new, HUGE load machines? Yes! By the best per load prices in town? You betcha! Is she gonna stay in Austin if she possibly can? Absolutely! Did my local laundromat have anything to do with that? Aside from my considerable charm, hmmm ... maybe yes. Clean, efficient facility, and the ladies who run the place are warm and friendly and know what they are doing. For Wash&Fold service, you can count on them and they will help with any questions you might have. BTW, this is a fully staffed business when it is open and the hours are generous. Also, the machines are electronically controlled. They close shop at 10 pm, and the washing machines will not accept new loads after 9pm. WiFi, of course. :-) Bottom line: wholehearted recommendation. And my aussie sweetie is grinning her agreement. Cheers. P.S. I really liked the wash and fold service at the Laundry Spot. It was done very quickly and I got a phone call as soon as it was done. The clothes smelled really great but I was most impressed with their rewards program and how technologically savvy it is. The only thing I wish was more advertised is the fact that if you want certain articles of clothing on hangers, you need to provide the hangers yourself. read more

This place is amazing! As soon as I walked in I was greeted by the 2 gentlemen working there. I got started and I had a crap ton of laundry. I got all of it done in about 2 hours bc no one was there! It's about hidden place that is friendly and very clean. Also the coin machine gave mi a bad quarter and the guy up front let mi get a new one. No sweat. I will come here more often. I love it! Our dryer was not working so I spent a few weeks here doing laundry. So many machines and different sizes too. The staff was helpful. The place was clean and so were the machines. They also seemed to clean better than my front loading samsung especially the larger loads. One day I took advantage of their wash, dry and fold. It was done promptly and was nicely folded. They even hang up shirts if you ask them to do so. Definitely a go place for when you need to do laundry in a pinch! read more

Great little spot to do your laundry. I stopped in to wash a huge mink blanket that wouldn't fit in my washer at home if my life depended on it. The facility is very clean and brightly lit, thanks to the huge windows on two sides of the room. I went during the day, so I can't speak for evening-time lighting. The machines are heavy duty, quiet and clean. I had no trouble using them without asking for help, even though I've never had to use coin washers before. There are instructions on the front of each machine. I felt like it was a safe environment, and I was comfortable sitting on my laptop studying as I waited for my wash/dry cycles to get done. There are multiple sizes of washers, and 1 large size on dryers. It cost about $6 to do my large blanket in the largest washer on "heavy" dirt setting with hot water. It ran about 32 minutes. The dryers are $0.25 per 5 minutes of high heat. You just add as many quarters as needed to dry your items. I felt like the machines did a good job washing and drying. There was still some "pilling" on the blanket, which I didn't expect to get washed or fluffed off, but I would've been impressed if they had. There are folding tables everywhere they could fit them, a few chairs, a couple benches, and a couple small tables to sit at. All-in-all, they clearly tried to make it a comfortable enough place to pass the time. It is next door to a gas-station-like store, so you can grab a drink and snack as you wait. I save 5 stars for places that really blow me away and I can't say that happened here. But I gave it four stars because it was a good, convenient, decently priced experience, and is certainly a place I would feel comfortable going back to if needed. read more

I wanted to give this place a few tries before I wrote a review. They do not disappoint! My orders are usually simple and small so I can't speak to more complex requests. I use their wash and fold service. I drive a little out of they way to come here because the staff is great and the clothes always come out smelling fresh and are folded neatly. They package everything up in plastic to add to the convenience. Unlike some other places that offer the same service Laundry Spot is always very straightforward about the cost and the time it's going to take. No guesswork or false promises. When they say you'll have it today they mean it - and if it won't be until tomorrow they will tell you that too. It's definitely worth the extra money for the great quality of service and the convenience. Be sure to tip because the staff works hard. read more

We had to do a little bit of unexpected laundry while visiting Austin so yelped laundry, found this place had good reviews and so decided to give it a go. The Laundry Spot is clean, the staff are friendly and can help you out with any laundry supplies you may need, there are adequate change machines, laundry machines, seating and tables. The store is even conveniently located near coffee, food and bars if you don't want to wait in store for your laundry to finish and it feels pretty safe since there is an employee on location at all times. Definitely a good option if you find yourself needing to do some laundry on the road or in a pinch. read more

Staff was not helpful and to busy on there phone. Refuse to help when we had concerns. I lived in the crest view are all my life and never had staff treat me this bad as they do here. And they cuss at you. I been coming to this location since I was a little girl and once the owners changed that's when it got bad. And the owners do not care how there staff treat customers. Excellent laundry service! This wash and fold service charges by the pound and has same day drop off and pick up. I am visiting Austin for work and will be here for some time. The hotel I am staying in has laundry facilities, but ruined some of clothing, someone left grease in the machines. The laundry spot was able to resurrect one of my ruined shirts! When our washing machine went out, it was with dread that I hauled our laundry to the coin-op in our 'hood. But what a pleasant surprise. The Laundry Spot has been completely overhauled since I last had to use it and its great! New equipment, clean facility, an attendant always on duty and laundry service! I had a doggie barf catastrophe on my son's brand new comforter and the manager helped me with a special enzyme soap that got the smell out. I love the huge 6-load machine that lets me wash and dry all of my laundry at once in less than a hour. read more

I came here to do my laundry because of the excellent reviews on Yelp. Most of the time, Yelp has it down. Not with this one. I brought my laundry by at 1:45,2 pm. I did not get the same day service, but I figured they closed at 10 pm. They should have my laundry done and ready the next morning; surely you can do a load of laundry in 8 hours. I show up the next morning and the woman at the desk tells me she hasn't even started my load. It's sitting on the counter, where it was the day before. Instead of apologizing, she tells me that I should've just waited for her call and to come back later. I eventually get the call and come back. There's now a different man at the front. He answers a phone call from his personal phone will I stand there waiting. Overall, I was very disappointed with my service here. read more

Gets crowded on weekends, but sitting here writing this on a weekday, it's nice and quiet. Docked a star because The wifi, is absolutely frustrating, drops at the worst moments. Last time, however, I inadvertently left a permanent magic marker in one of my jean's pockets. Had I been doing my own laundry, it certainly would have been ruined. Ok! Update, update! I take it all back. Really. I returned this week because of a response I received from the Laundry Spot management (and after visiting another laundry mat that made me realize what a gem this place is). They have installed all new high efficiency washers in single sizes to go along with their double and triple loaders. The machines are great. They use less water, only take about 25 minutes, and your clothes come out totally spun out so drying takes hardly anytime. No more complaints from me. I am a fan. Prices still make me sometimes think about renting my own machines for my apartment, but I sure love getting multiple loads done in far less time than doing them one load at a time at home, so it's a reasonable trade off. read more

I've been here twice since moving to Austin this past month and I never thought I would say this about a laundromat, but I adore it. It's clean and the staff is friendly and helpful. There are televisions and you can kindly ask someone to turn on the boob tube if that's what you're into. The prices are standard and though they do not have dryer sheets for sale, you may purchase a fifty cent pod of laundry detergent. The woman working the counter was helpful in instructing me to toss the pod directly in with my laundry. Being hungover my first time here this was helpful because I probably would have just tossed it in on top where you're meant to pour your laundry detergent. Whatta novice! You can also drop off laundry if you don't have time to do it yourself. Anyway, it's a place to do laundry. If that's what you need then that's what you got going on here. read more

This place it awesome I was able to get all my clothes done really fast. I was in and out with in a hour, four loads to wash and dry and less than 10 bucks later I was happy. The one tips I can give is to deposit 75 cents to a dollar into the dryer instead of the 25 cents required. read more

I've come here about five times since moving to the neighborhood, and my experience has always been positive. This is a clean place to spend some time and get laundry done, and the staff have always been courteous. It's never been too busy to move around and get a machine.
