I have been going to this laundromat since I moved to Brookline 3 years ago. Overall, I like the facility, and it is the closest laundromat to my apartment. I like that you use a card to pay for laundry, and the staff are generally pretty nice. They also have drop-off laundry services and dry cleaning. I am disappointed that they increased their prices. Plus, I have been frustrated with the multiple occasions of dragging my three loads of laundry the 5 blocks to the laundromat to find they were closed during normal operating hours due to staffing issues and/or the machines were not operational and/or all the machines were being used by staff for their drop off services. I will continue to use this laundromat, but I wish they were open more hours and they could resolve their operational issues. read more

A hidden gem people! I seriously considered not recommending this place because I don't want the general populace preventing me from using three machines at once (at once!). Washes were $2.50 for regular sized machines, and $4.25 for larger-than-life ones. For God's sake, the larger machine says 'please do not put LESS than 25 lbs in here'. Massive dryers too at $0.25 for four minutes. Sick of quarters? The automated card machine takes credit cards/debit/bills, so save your coins for the next time you're passing through Central Square. Whoa Laundry Basket! I didn't know that you had the solution to all of my laundry problems. Problem: I would love to do my laundry, but man- I have no quarters! Solution: Laundry basket has a swipe card you add money onto (either cash or credit) and you don't need any quarters! Problem: When I scoop my clothes out of the triple load washer- the basket is too high, so I have to scoop all of my clothes out. I always loose socks that way! Solution: Meet a basket with a half circle cut out the front that fits perfectly in front of the washer... go figure. Problem: I often drop clothes on the floor on my way from the washer to the dryer. Yuck! Solution: Yuck? This is the cleanest laundromat I've ever seen. I could do this for hours...... never have I looked forward to lugging my ripping laundry basket (because I waited 2 weeks too long) to the laundromat. This place makes my experience a triple load better. read more

Now, no one really LIKES to do laundry, but I would venture to say that this is my "favorite" place to do so. It costs slightly more than campus laundry ($2.25/wash and approximately $2.00/dry during the school year), but the location makes up for it. The women who run the place are very nice and are always willing to give you as much change as you need. There is an array of types of washers and dryers, and the place is very clean. Other services provided by this location include a wash/dry/press combo (priced per pound) and dry cleaning, neither of which I have taken advantage of yet. Being a local resident (both during student days and current professional days) I have been to my fair share of laundromats in this area. The Laundry Basket is clean, very spiffy (as per a recent renovation with new sets of machines, and more of them), and conveniently located. While the staff is a tad difficult to understand (they're Korean) and often on the phone, they are very accommodating and patient, their services are reasonably priced (for laundry services and dry-cleaning services) and their winning feature, wash-dry-fold drop-off laundry. My incredible neatness, fear of losing clothing shrinking or stretching, and overall hesitation about others touching my dirty laundry were among the factors that I didn't initially feel very gung-ho about sending out my laundry, but getting back perfectly folded, bundled, and pressed clothes WITHOUT me having to stick around while they go through the wash-rinse-spin-dry cycle or rush to do errands before the dryer times out is just fantastical. It was a sad day when they went through renovations because I was forced to find another laundromat and was traumatized by the experience that I vow to rather wait until the Laundry Basket is open so they can continue to do a wonderful job. read more

I live very close so it's pretty convenient. The industrial washers are $6.50, so if you have a large load it is worth it. Dryers are free, which is nice. Unfortunately there is always something wrong with around half of the machines when I go in there. I do my laundry in the middle of the day, so I haven't had an issue, but I can see how it might be hard to get a washer/dryer in the evenings. I drop my laundry off and come back for it (I live very close) and I've never had an issue with theft or people removing my things from the machines. However, very hard to figure out who works there (if there is even anyone behind the desk). Edit: they have now "lowered" their prices and started charging for dryers. They claim it comes out to about the same price, but this is not true. Additionally the past several times my clothes have come out with stains on them. Not sure what is going on, but I won't be going back. read more

Could not be happier. No time to do laundry as a full time student also working. Hadn't done laundry all semester. Brought two GIANT suitcases full of dirty laundry at 8PM on a wednesday, begging for help. Woman at the counter was super friendly. Explained process, told me I could pick up my clothes THE NEXT MORNING AT 9. So excited. She even told me i could leave the suitcases there, and she would pack the washed and folded stuff in them so all i would have to do is pick them up. I was willing to pay anything but still nervous about being charged a shit ton. Little did I know, my total would be only $38. Let me repeat. $38. For over a MONTH's worth of dirty laundry. Including hang drying 5 bras. And washing delicates separately. Plus two items of dry cleaning. Dry cleaning that completely got the hookah bar stench out of my cashmere scarf. Oh and, yes, all I had to do is come back the next morning to pick up my two suitcases. They already had my credit card on file, so they just look on the computer and then you go on your way without even having to touch your wallet. I am never doing my own laundry again. read more

I dropped off a dress and a jacket for cleaning. Shortly after I received four different emails about whether to proceed with cleaning the jacket because it had buttons and a belt (I found the number of the emails to be highly excessive). The final email I received about the jacket asked if I would like to pay an extra $3 for what they perceived to be a loose button. When I dropped off the jacket, all buttons were fully intact and secure. After I opted to forgo the tailoring, they discontinued the cleaning process so my jacket was never even cleaned. All because I refused to pay $3 for them to secure a "loose" button. The afternoon my garments were ready to be picked up, I received an email from them with the subject line "Ready for Pickup." When I arrived at the facility to pick up my clothes, I was notified that the email was premature and that my clothes would not be in the facility for pickup for another three hours. I had wasted my time all for them to tell me that the email was incorrect. Their communication methods with customers needs a great deal of work. read more

$4.50 per load. Four dollars and fifty cents. Let that sink in for a while. $4.50. Doing six loads a month? That'll be 27 bucks. Per month. $27 x 12 months a year and you've got yourself paying $324 a year just to keep your clothes clean. At that rate, it is cheaper to rent a washer and dryer from Rent-A-Center for a year. Better yet, if you've got yourself a room mate, you could buy this set and have plenty of cash left over for a year's supply of detergent: http://www.walmart.com/ip/Haier-Compact-Washer-Dryer/8112370. Worst of all, this place didn't even deserve the $2.75 a load they were previously charging. The floors are gross (so don't drop your clothes!), half the machines don't work (so you'll be waiting a load's worth of time just to use a machine), and there's no good place to sit. Pretty sure there was an ownership change after a lot of the reviews here were written. There are legitimately two reasons why this place is in business: (1) there's nothing else around and (2) they take credit cards. Put both of those together, and you've got lazy college student's using Daddy's AmEx and not caring about the price or the quality of the service. I'll be renting for the rest of the year. read more

I discovered wash and fold here. It has been a life-changing discovery. These ladies do your laundry quickly (usually ready a few hours later). Note you can do it yourself, too, but if you're not a student, who has time for that? They also launder shirts and do dry cleaning (a couple day turnaround). Reasonable prices, clean, quick service. You don't need to lug around massive amounts of quarters, as they have an electronic card system. All the machines look newish and work very well. Machines are always working fine and it's the closest laundromat near me, so it's convenient. I find the staff incredibly rude, though. If I do one thing "wrong" (put too much in the washer even when it all fits, fold my clothes directly out of the drying machine when it's a Friday morning and no one else is waiting), I get scolded for it. I always feel self-conscious doing laundry here but would have to pay more to take the t somewhere else, so I guess it will do for now. read more

I've been a Laundry Basket devotee since I moved into the neighborhood three years ago. The staff is friendly, the place is one of the least grimy laundromats I've seen in my life, and I never needed to find quarters--at one time, many moons ago, this cost me $2.25 per load. Then, they raised their prices to $2.75. This made me sad, but I was willing to hack up the 2.75 a load for these things. Now it is $4.50 per load. Four-fucking-fifty. Oh, but dyers are free! Super, but even with my limited math skills it doesn't take long to figure out that saving $1.35 on one half hour of drying does not make spending $1.75 more per load a bargain. Laundry Basket, you are like a boyfriend I only sort of liked but put up with because he had a car. It was convenient, and I became complacent--it was all right some of the time, wasn't it? But I caught you sending pictures of your junk to some other girl and I realized that you were always kind of the worst. Before this metaphor gets any further away from me, the point is: I just spent almost $15.00 to do three loads of laundry and I'm never going back. We're breaking up, Laundry Basket. DO NOT COME TO THIS PLACE!! This is the WORST place I've ever done laundry at. The employees there are absolutely rude, an have no customer service whatsoever. It costs $4.50 per washer, which is quite expensive, but I figured it was OK because the dryers are free. However, more than half of the dryers are always out of order and they don't even do anything to fix it. WORST OF ALL the employees yell at you for waiting for a dryer. They tell you to put all your clothes into one machine... even if you had to use 3 WASHERS. How ridiculous is that? I spent over $13 and you're only allowing me use one machine? And, I used one of the specialty washers which cost $6.50 per wash to clean my pillow. They told me to take this soaking wet pillow home because you're not allowed to put it into the dryer. Well maybe you could have mentioned that BEFORE I spent such a ridiculous amount of money to just soak my pillow.. these people that work here do not care about their customers at all. Once, I brought my laundry to clean at 7:05PM and they made me go all the way home with 3 loads of laundry because "the last wash allowed is by 7PM" even though they don't close until 9PM. I barely write reviews but I just have to let everyone know that they are better off never coming to this place that doesn't care about customers, employees with no customer service and are extremely rude, and basically tries to cheat your money by saying that dryers are free but none are ever available and limit the amount and time you can use them. The dryer didn't dry my clothes consistently. They range from somewhat damp to very damp. The dryer also had a funny smell to it. I couldn't tell if it was my clothes or the machine until I left. Current prices (as of September 10, 2017) are $3 for a regular wash, $5 for the commercial washers, and $0.50 for a dry cycle. It's fast, but the quality is pretty lacking. read more

What the pictures don't show is one of two things: either the massive amounts of "Out of Order" signs on washers and dryers, or the tags from the people who WORK THERE that are taking up the machines. There were seriously four women yesterday all doing "drop-off" laundry in the machines that should be used for current customers and when I got there, there were a total of four unused washers at the time. Four. At 6:30 PM on a Tuesday. After my wash was done, I had only two dryers to use because the rest were either - you guessed it - Out of Order, or being used. The only reason I keep coming back is because the laundromat around the corner is more expensive and a lot dirtier. They need to fix their machines and fix their policies because it's seriously embarrassing that they think that they can call themselves a laundromat at this point. read more

I cannot believe I have forgotten to review Laundry Basket! The convenience of this place is absurd for me since I live across the street, but I may still be venturing over this way when I move. Yes, I actually like a laundromat that much. First off, it's a one stop shop for me. You can either do your own, have full service laundry, or get stuff dry cleaned. I love it. It doesn't help that their prices are pretty good too. Secondly, I don't need quarters (Yayyyyyy). It's all by credit card on these little machines in the front. I'm a huge fan. If you pay by cash you usually get a bonus too. It's something along the lines of 22.50 instead of 20. Not huge, but I'll take it! Third, they have a machine in front with any laundry necessities that functions off the card. It's great when I mistime things and need to put something in the dryer but don't want to run all the way home (it can be a rough 5 minute round-trip commute!) to get dryer sheets. Fourth, and this is a biggie, is that it's just clean. I have never questioned a machine here before. Lastly, my favorite thing in the laundry world is their huge washing machines. You have to have at least three loads of laundry in them and they're only 4.50. My mother would have a heart attack if she knew I don't do laundry for months at a time (TMI Yelpers?) but when I do I go all out. I usually take up about 3 of those bad boys and go to town. The staff does chuckle at me a little bit with my 10 loads of laundry at once, but it gets the job done! If I can find a laundry basket with wheels I will definitely continue to come to this place past-June. I may seek one out just for this purpose... Beware of being up charged for the stuff you sent for regular wash and fold/ iron. I have had quite a few shirts being charged at the dry cleaning rate when I explicitly stated that I just wanted these shirts to be washed and ironed. When finding out that I was up charged, some reasons I was given in defense were that if the shirt says "dry clean only" then the shirt will be dry cleaned irrespective of what type of cleaning service I ask for- pretty ridiculous considering I own the shirt and at the very least expect to be told which shirts will be dry cleaned when I give them to Laundry Basket. However, I've also always been refunded these erroneous charges and almost immediately so no complaints there. Would suggest dealing in cash unless you don't mind overpaying or dealing with the constant back and forth of getting credit refunds on your account for higher charges you shouldn't be paying for. read more

Having lived in various brownstones/ apartments in South Campus for three years straight, I have developed a long history with the BU laundry machines put in the basement of each building. Unfortunately this history is akin to a sucky boyfriend that you give way too many chances to in the hope that something will change. The machines first let me down freshman year, when after paying good money the dryer rejected the idea of actually drying my clothes. I ended up having to carry a huge hamper of very wet clothes two blocks away. Not fun. The next summer there was an evil BU machine that took my quarters but did not register it. Still, I kept going back to these in-building machines out of convenience/laziness. A few weeks ago I had my last straw. Out of three dryers in my basement, only two actually dried the clothes. As I was cursing/ hanging my clothes to dry all over my apartment I finally realized I was an idiot and could surely do better. Enter Laundry Basket. Conveniently located for south campus this place is great. You can enter through the back door which makes it even closer to most residences. No more fumbling with quarters because BU is too cheap to put swipe cards into most of their south campus machines. This place never seems too busy, there are always plenty of open machines. My favorite is one that does 3 loads at once (!!!) which is great since I always have a lot of clothes. And you can spread your clothes into a few different dryers and they will dry really fast. Right now they have this deal if put 20 dollars on a card and get a free wash, not bad! Now doing laundry is fast and easy :) read more

I went to this laundromat, because it was the closest to where I lived. The prices were high, $2.50 for one load, but I overlooked it, because the large washers that could hold 3 loads were $4.50, and dryers were free. However, I came in recently to discover that dryers are no longer free and all their prices have been marked up by 50 cents. There is rarely any employees available in the laundromat, and they've recently added a bell you could ring and wait for assistance. read more

As far as laundromats go in the Boston area, this one is the BEST I've found. It is half the price of most. $2.50 for a large wash, and a quarter for 8 minutes dry. The place is clean, bright, friendly, and close to many places. It is an short drive, with easy to find metered parking. There are a couple places to sit while waiting. Two really sweet Vietnamese ladies work there, and are usually friendly. It is a buck per pound of clothes to have them wash and there is also dry cleaning on site. Great classic love songs play on the radio, so it's quite a happy time folding clothes. AND while the clothes are washing, around the corner theres a 7-11 for all your snack needs or even better, a great Crepes place to eat at. AND....you pay with a card you purchase...eliminating the quarter roll hastle effect. :) I love the Laundry Basket, and look forward to the little weekly ritual of laundry and Crispy Crepes and/or slurppeeee.... :) Happy folding! read more

Stepped in here for the first time since they renovated. The place is even cleaner than before with all new washers and dryers. Washes are $2.50 each, more than 'slightly more expensive' than campus laundry. But they have a prime location, so I'm not surprised they do well. They now work on a card system, and the minimum amount you can put on a card is $5. Now this posed a problem for me since this was the last time I'll ever be doing laundry here. I tried talking to the lady about it, and she was an absolute bitch. Not to mention she was yakking on the phone in Chinese the entire time while trying to 'help' customers. I wouldn't normally mind this if she was nice about it and actually helped. But she wasn't. And you know what else? After yelling at me, she actually turned back to her phone and started bitching about me! I FUCKING UNDERSTAND YOU, LADY!! I really just wanted to leave, but all of my clothes were already in the machine with detergent all over them. Thankfully, a guy was nice enough to let me pay him for a swipe of his card. read more

They were closed for a week for "renovations," and we thought that surely meant they were going to fix all the out of order machines. they did not. Now only one large machine is available for use so you are forced to use the small machines which are a terrible deal. we use this place because they are so close but not anymore. Just terrible. I do not recommend anyone using these facilities until they make a concerted effort to fix the serious problems they have. read more

STAY AWAY from their Dry Cleaning !! They ruined our wedding clothes! I had my wedding dress and my husband's shirt dry cleaned here. Both were fairly clean to begin with except for some light dirt. My dress came back with large yellow-highlighter stains on the skirt. The shirt came back with multiple black grease stains - everywhere. When we complained, the lady at the store told us we should just wear the clothes with the stains on them, then she tried to blame us for the stains. After some arguing, she offered to send the items back to the place where they outsource their dry cleaning. It was too late for that, the wedding was the next day so we were in a frantic rush to find a real dry cleaner. As we were about to leave, she grabbed our receipt, to get rid of any evidence that we had patronized her store. Maybe she was worried we would take her to small claims court. Lesson #1 Avoid Laundry Basket for dry cleaning, and Lesson #2 hold on tight to your receipts. My husband's shirt was completely ruined - he had to buy a new one. And I ended up spending $$ on emergency tailoring since the stain they put on it could not be cleaned out. A $25 dry cleaning job ended up costing us over $100 and loads of stress. Don't even think about coming here for dry cleaning. Spend a little more and go somewhere that does the dry cleaning in house rather than outsources it to cheap labor. read more

Never written a review before, negative nor otherwise but I had to comment publicly on the outstandingly terrible customer service, organization and communication (or horrendous lack thereof) of this awful place. Worth mentioning that my coat is still covered in a stain they completely failed to remove (they had four days with it). Frankly after countless (unanswered) phone call attempts and waiting up until 12:40am to get my coat back, I'm just relieved to have it back at all. Do not waste a dollar here. It is unreliable, you never know what you are going to get, which is opposite of what you need out of a laundry place. My clothes came out of the washer sopping wet and the dryer did not work. When I asked for help the only response was "your clothes are too wet" and a shrug. I had to take my sopping wet clothes home which got the clothes I was wearing wet, just horrible experience all around. I have been coming here for 2 years but it has steadily declined and will never go back. read more

This place used to be such a great deal. Clean facilities, friendly staff, a little more per wash, but dryers are free, so it was actually quite reasonable for the area. It was a fantastic contrast to the closer by (now defunct) Beacon Soap Opera with its plethora of broken machines, terrible customer services, and increasingly expensive rates. I don't know what's changed in the last month or so, but I'm not a fan and I'm frustrated they now have a monopoly (there's no other option in the area). I can't tell if it's a new manager or a new employee on a power trip, but it's like night and day and, frankly, increasingly a nightmare. I genuinely appreciate that she's trying to enforce the max. dryer times ,and policing who's next in line for a machine, and emphasizing that people need to pick up their loads when they're done, and holding fast to the 7pm cut-off for new loads. Caustic and rude, but of efficient. Fine. Insisting that I now use a single dryer for a mixed load from the large washers (about 1.5 times the capacity of the regular washers) is inconvenient (takes longer overall) and not great for my clothes (towels pilling my clothes), but I get that it's a cost-saving measure. Fine. Forcing me to remove my wet clothes from a dryer that she claimed to be using for drop-off laundry (but didn't have a "reserved" sticker or anything else to indicate it was in use?) and wait for a dryer? I have no words. Unless the point is to get us to pony up for the drop off services? Because I genuinely don't understand a business model in which you're forcing a customer to wait for internal work that could be done at another time. read more

I don't normally review places, but this is a one star laundromat if I've ever seen one. More than half the dryers are out of order, and have been so for at least a month. Then there's the fact that it costs $4.50 to do one freaking load of laundry! Yes the drying is free, but if the dryers don't work then that's not very helpful. Lastly, the customer service is awful. I walked in almost three hours before they closed recently and was told that I should come back a different day because the cold weather was affecting the dryers so I wouldn't be able to find one that worked before they closed...three hours from then. I definitively don't know much about dryers, but I feel like they probably shouldn't be affected by the season of winter. Regardless, when I had no trouble finding a couple dryers that worked, the person working there told me that I should only use one for my three loads of laundry and I should just put it on high for 40 mins. I did it so I could get the hell out of there, but I wouldn't be surprised if my jeans are nice and shrunk now. I'm sure there are some people with lovely customer service skills that work there, but the couple times I've been there have not been pleasant. And for the love of god, fix your dryers!!!! read more
