Drop off Thursday pick up Tuesday for 3 shirt 3 pants. Drop-off/pick-up window is only from 10 in the morning until 7 at night which makes it incredibly difficult. $40 to dry-clean 3 shirt/3 pants and they have the audacity to ask for a tip at check-out (as though you're already not being robbed at that rate). I go to take a look at the clothes and frankly I could've done a better job on my own. Haphazardly ironed, most of it not all clothes had wrinkles. Literally amazing. Used their laundry service for clothes and bedsheets. They respected my wishes using non-perfumed laundry detergent, and the folding! I must admit, I am impressed. I went in hopeful, but trying not to get my expectations up... and I'm incredibly impressed. The woman at the front has a very heavy accent so yes, if you call the phone number you will probably have a difficult time. However, she was so nice and helpful when I came in to drop off my trashbags of laundry. I was able to pay by credit card (!!) and was told to come back just a few short hours later (less than 4) to pick it up. And though I came back 20 minutes before the assigned time, there were my clothes, all nicely folded in a bag with my name on the slip. I have seriously paid more money in a laundromat attempting to clean (mostly dry) the same amount of clothing. This is my new affordable luxury. Screw doing my own laundry, I'm dropping it off! Oh Sweet Laundry, what would I do without you! I use their pickup/drop off service. It's so easy and convenient. All you have to do is go to their website, fill out your information and when you want your laundry picked up. I always ask them to contact me via text which is perfect. They then text me to arrange a pick up (I don't have to be home for it - just leave it outside) and they confirm when it's picked up. Then in 1-2 days they text me again to arrange the delivery, give me the total due & the work order #. There is a place to pay by work order on their website, so no need to deal with cash. Tipping is not required, but I always tip at least $10. Then I get my laundry back, clean and perfectly folded. If you are in the area and hate doing laundry as much as I do, give their pick/up drop off service a try. You won't regret it! They are very professional and do a great job. It's cheap and they do a good job. Depending on who's there when you drop off laundry/dry cleaning there can be some communication/English issues but to have a comforter washed for almost half the price of other Cambridge laundromats is more than worth it. read more

The new owners have turned this business around. The other reviewer is right, they really appreciate feedback. It's much cleaner than before. They installed a portable air conditioner. Everyone is friendlier and faster. And somehow they fold the laundry different enough from the previous owners that I have more space in my bureau with the same clothes. Sweet Laundry is pretty sweet. I've only done self-service laundry, so I can't speak to their wash/dry/fold, but enough people would drop off their laundry while I was there that it can't be bad. The best part about it is free detergent Monday-Thursday. It's also not too crowded, probably because Kirkland Cleaners is just 3 blocks away, over the city line in Cambridge. The differences are pretty much Somerville vs. Cambridge: Sweet is a little grittier, a little dimmer, a little cheaper, but just as friendly. read more

I found this place through yelp and was excited to see a well reviewed place near my apartment. I've tried 3 times to give this place my business, but they are too disorganized to do it. The lady who picks up the phone 1) barely speaks english 2) is useless She offered to take my phone number twice so the "owner" can call me back. He never did. I tried again today, and apparently he works when he feels like it, and is the only person who can setup or talk to you about delivery dry-cleaning. This place is a complete joke. read more

I loooove this place. I drop off my stuff, they weight it, give me a ticket and I am on my way. I usually drop off darks, lights, and sheets and for wash, dry and fold its almost always approx 15 bucks. I tried to do the same amount of laundry myself at a place off Prospect, and spent 18 dollars and had to stay there whole time and fold it all myself. The younger woman who is usually with her daughter is very sweet and helpful. The older woman is definitely a little bit more money minded. I brought in a doggie bed cover and a couple of my dogs blankets that were only 1 small load. I asked her to run them through the wash 2 times, and was told it would be 20 dollars since they have a 10 dollar minimum and I would be running it twice. I tried to haggle down to the 15 dollar average that I usually pay for 3+ loads of laundry but she was firm about it. When I did get his stuff back, i didnt open the bag right away, and since she left the stuff a little damp, it did not smell very clean. That experience definitely put me off a bit, because for 20 bucks for one load, I should hope you dry it long enough so it doesnt mildew or mold if its not picked up right away. Bottom line, the place is great for your average laundry needs and cannot be beat for 95 cents a pound. This place is Sweet! I'm a graduate student at a nearby university and come the Sweet Laundry about once a week. As a college student I have been using laundromats to wash & dry my clothes for several years. Mom - did I make you proud?! Sweet Laundry is the cleanest laundromat I have been too. The staff seems very pleasant and professional. The washers and dryers are well maintained and the customers who use Sweet Laundry are friendly I take public transportation and there is a bus stop right at the front door. I believe it's under new ownership. I heard the new owners own a bunch of other laundromats and will be doing some things to accomodate their customers. read more

This is my laundromat. A little on the small side but it's run by a very very nice family. Besides having card operated washers and dryers ( you get the card there and put money on it) they will also pick up your laundry too.Dry cleaning services as well. They don't do sewing or mending. I sat down to write a review about what I witnessed on Sunday and see that Jen already reported it. Clearly, this incident makes headlines. I have been coming to this place for years and have always loved it. The two women who work here are friendly and attentive. And with a cost of $0.99/pound for wash/dry/fold, I practically saved money by dropping it off. So it is with a heavy heart that I share the reason behind my decision to take my business elsewhere. Yesterday, I observed an interaction between the owner (Stephen) and a regular customer who I have seen many times. When she learned that the prices has gone up 15%, she said "What?!" to express her surprise and disappointment. In response, the owner launched into a loud tirade about how she should take her laundry elsewhere and aggressively made comments like, "I paid $6,000 for my water bill last month! You don't have to do your laundry here. I don't care, take it away, go somewhere else." He flailed his arms and moved closer to her while she watched him and repeatedly stepped back. While he was yelling at her, all of the customers in the laundromat stood silently and watched in shock. She tried to interrupt his monologue with "I have been coming here for years and feel uncomfortable with your behavior towards me right now," but he wouldn't hear it and continued yelling. Honestly, this was a disturbing outburst that made me feel unsafe and scared. Not only will I start taking my laundry elsewhere because now Sweet Laundry is the most expensive place around, I will take my self elsewhere because I do not want to risk being victim to another of Stephen's attacks. Clearly this man is volatile and I would hate to be nearby the next time he blows. And, on principle, I don't believe that this owner has earned my-- or your-- business. Bundle wash is more expensive per pound than City Line, and I had a major struggle to convince the two ladies I dealt with NOT to charge me for the weight of the laundry basket that I brought the clothes in with.... All I can say is DO NOT HAVE YOUR CLOTHES DRY CLEANED HERE. I had just moved to the area and my clothing was shipped to me. It smelled musty so I took it in. Of the 17 pieces I took in, 7 came back shrunken. I calmly and politely spoke with the owner over the phone, and he said he could have them stretched back. After four weeks of phone tag and several cancellations on his part, the owner finally met with me. You see he doesn't keep regular hours at the store -- and that's on purpose he says. When I went to pick up my "repaired" clothes (it was not ready until days later than the promised date) not all of it was back to size. In fact, some of it had changed shape in other ways (now instead of the shoulders being tight, the sleeves were short). I frankly and diplomatically told him this and he lost it. He raised his voice at me in the establishment. He kept claiming that his service could not have done what I was saying. I don't know if he is in denial, or if he thinks I am making all this up. Somehow he thinks that he would know how my clothes fit before I brought it in better than I would. He kept saying next time you bring your clothes in, please "tell us". Tell them what? That I expect it to be the same size when it's done? A next time is very unlikely. Now I'm out the $130 I paid in dry cleaning fees, plus the cost of replacing my clothes. Like I said, I would strongly recommend taking your dry cleaning else where. If I could put zero stars for this establishment I would. On a side note, the restroom had an out of order sign every time I was there. read more

The new owners have completely turned this place around. Zero to hero, I'm telling you. I've lived near Sweet Laundry for 7+ years, and at first it was great - cheap, no nonsense. Then it started sucking (more expensive, dirty inside, poorly maintained, and not friendly) and I stopped going entirely about 2 years ago. I went today because I was in a laundry jam, and I'm glad I did. It's sparkling clean and inviting, the prices are decent, and the staff is very welcoming. Good: They do your laundry for you. Not too expensive. Bad: They don't take care of it at all. Most recently, they seem to have lost my hamper bag which I dropped the clothes off in. We asked them to hang something up to dry, which they said "OK" to. As is my experience with other requests, since her English is terrible, she was probably just saying "yes" to get rid of us -- clothes definitely went in the drier. If I only had a car or better way to move clothes on my bike, I would be at Metropolitan Laundry in Cambridgeport in a heartbeat. Those guys do an awesome job. read more

I will never do business here again. I just moved to the neighborhood and I needed a new cleaner for my work clothes. I left off shirts and pants on Saturday afternoon and was told they would be ready on Wednesday. I went in at 5 and was told to come back at 530 or 6. I came back at 615 and was told they would call me when the laundry was ready. Finally I called THEM at 730 and was told that the cleaner they send laundry to was closed since 7 and would not be dropping off anymore for the night. This really screwed me since I had already dropped off my other shirts and pants at another cleaners, and had nothing to wear the next day at work. I will stick to Kirkland Cleaners down the street from now on. read more

Jason is awesome and super patient with everyone! great customer service, and they pick up/deliver which is also amazing. Tonight though, I was rushed out by another employee because her bus was coming. I'm very understanding of this especially because it's not the first time she's rushed me out but this time was more aggressive. it wasn't rude and she wasn't angry but telling someone "please hurry up, my bus is coming" and "please go quicker" is very uncomfortable! I understand the place closes at 9 but last wash is at 7:45 and I was there a couple minutes before that. I wasn't the only one in there but ended up being the last one out because I had more clothes than the other guy. Taking the bus home is painful if you have to wait for someone so I didn't make a fuss, I just shut down even when she stood over me and said "my bus is coming in one minute" at that point I just did the best I could. My clothes were falling out of my bags but I left and fixed it outside. I'm not into confrontation and I've worked in jobs that I waited for the last customer to leave.It's very annoying when you depend on public transportation so I understand but I don't think I'd rush someone out who just spent money at my job. I got out of there by 9:02, I looked at my phone as soon as I could get it together outside. I hope that this doesn't happen again to anyone else. Sweet Laundry has other great employees, the prices have risen so this situation just makes me want to walk a couple more blocks for a cheaper location with better hours and mostly like better service. Avoiding doing laundry on Mondays or whenever she's working could also be an option. SOrry for the bad review but i was just really uncomfortable. read more

The new owners are fantastic. So friendly and professional, and such a breath of fresh air compared to the disinterested/sullen service that was becoming the norm under the previous management. The new owners have really cleaned things up, and the whole place just feels brighter and friendlier. They're open til 9 every day with last load in at 7:45 (would love a bit later since I tend to be a nighttime laundry person, but it's nice that they're consistent). For self-serve coin op: the change machine is reliable, and they always have a little stack of paper trays you can use if you need something to hold your quarters. Current magazine selection, clean folding tables, and they let me borrow one of their flip n fold things one time, which was fun. When the weather's nice, there's a shady park up the street where you can read the paper and watch people's dogs and/or children running around. But about their wash-dry-fold: SO GOOD. It's always ready by the next afternoon, even if you drop off right before closing time, and it is just *flawless*. I've done wash-dry-fold at other places and felt like it was fine enough, but this is something else. I seriously have to rave. My laundry is always folded AND sorted completely perfectly, and it makes putting away my clothes 100000x faster. I do not know how it is possible to fold clothing so much better than I am able to, but they really do SUCH a better job than I am able to. I never thought a laundry service could make such a difference, but they're so good! I haven't tried their pickup and delivery service yet, but I almost feel like it would be too much amazing and I might die of happiness. read more
