Great place. I was a little shocked when I had to pay $5.25 for a wash, but when I did the laundry-math the value turned out to be great. The largest washer holds way more than 25 pounds. I could fit 8 pairs of jeans, 30+ shirts, and my towels and sheets. It would take me easily 4 loads (at $3 each) to do that at school. The dryers are pretty effective. There is one dryer that is twice as large as the others, but its the same price. I always try to grab that one to stretch my drying dollar. read more

If I could give zero stars, I would. The owner here is incredibly rude and will interrogate you about why you're getting coins--from a coin-operated laundromat, of all places! I come here often, but after today, I will never be back. My clothes came out of the washer covered in black marks, and the dryers are painfully slow, eating up all my coins. I was using four machines and kept getting asked which ones were mine. When I went to get more coins, the owner actually told me I didn't need any more, even though my clothes were still soaking wet after 36 minutes in the dryer. This entire experience left me baffled and upset. Save yourself the time, money, and headache. Go elsewhere. read more

***CASH ONLY*** Do not partake in the drop off laundry service. They charge an extra $5 if you want your clothes separated by color. It's weird. Who washes whites and darks together. Obviously there's an upcharge for fabric softener and bleach as well. And if you're in a hurry, then forget it. They need at least 24 hours to complete the job. So instead of waiting until you have nothing to wear you should go a week earlier. Parking is difficult so this is more of a neighborhood spot than a destination. You're better off doing your own laundry. But if time is more important for you, then keep searching because this place is not the place to drop off your laundry. as a college student these prices are insane. there's $2, $4 & $5.50 washing machines. of course, the $2 machines almost never work and every time I come in I'm almost always asked why I didn't use the $5, maybe because why would I spend almost $10 on washing and drying my clothes. also, the $4 machines are SO SMALL, like I swear you can barely fit anything. anywho, last time I went to use the $2 machine before it broke, i had a big bag of laundry and the woman who I believe is the man's wife who owns the place was staring me down and made a comment about how she didn't think my clothes was going to fit (of course they just want me to spend more money and the bag I use is always full and fits inside the washer) but also can you mind your business like sincerely when did I ask for your input but of course I didn't say anything, literally not to sound like a karen but like let me do my laundry in peace read more

I hate doing laundry, but coming to this little laundromat is actually rather pleasant ! The lady who runs it is very nice, they have a large selection of magazines to read, and they have a bathroom. This comment is solely about their old stained-glass interior-illuminated "Star Laundry" sign that used to be over their door until just several years ago. I was going to take a picture of it--then it was gone! The staff of about a year ago or so acted dumb and knew nothing about it? Did it get sold to a museum or something? It was quite a work of art! Does anybody else remember that classic old sign and did they get a picture they could post of it. Otherwise, you're stuck doing laundry in the larger machines (and thus, wasting your money). It's small, but there are plenty of washers and dryers to choose from. The staff that run it are friendly, nice, and always willing to hold the door for you when you're struggling to drag 50 lb of month-old (now clean) laundry back to your apartment. Thankfully it's about 3 minutes down the street, right in the vicinity of Mission Hill. There's no need to worry about inclines, either (unless you're coming down the hill to get there). read more

I'll start by saying this laundromat was never great. It was still the closest to my house and I figured it was worth it. Then they fired the only employee they had who was nice to people. Ok, business decisions I guess. They put a fake "out of order" sign on the bathroom so customers couldn't use it. Annoying, and a little obvious when you see the manager use it regularly, but whatever. But now here we are with COVID. Bad enough they decide they don't need to keep regular hours anymore or even put a sign on the door saying so. But when they decide you can no longer wait for your clothes inside the laundromat? There's reasonable precautions and then there's saying "I don't care about my customers." If you don't even make an exception and invite people in during a literal thunderstorm, it's clearly worth the extra 15 minute walk over to Laundrymate. Huddling in the doorway in my raincoat waiting for my clothes to come out of the dryer once was more than enough. I'm never paying money to do that again. Hard pass. read more

I am sitting here in front of the laundry mat and it is 8:33am. There is no store owner in sight or no key holder to open the door. I first started using this laundry mat a year ago when I moved into the neighborhood and they are ALWAYS late for first wash which is so annoying especially because I try to arrive a little before 8:30 to try to get the best machines. There have been a few times that the opener/key holder doesn't come until closed to 10am and there really isn't any other laundry mats near by within walking distance to my apartment. The worst part of all is that the machines cost so much money. The smallest machine is about 5$ and barely fits any clothes in it. The dryer sucks at drying and cost 1 quarter ($0.25 USD) for 4 mins but it takes about 4 quarters ($1.00) to start packing in some heat. Mad annoying. I love Star Laundry! Every once in a while when we get a lot of laundry backed up, I take several bags over there. It comes back so nicely folded, with such great care taken, and smells sooo fresh (not scented, just super fresh, like a baby's head). The owners will happily help you carry loads from and to your car. I feel really lucky to have a local business like this that I trust and like. Don't wash here. The man who acts friendly and works at the desk steals. It only happens when he works. He steals anything sheets, towels, women's clothing etc. I don't recommend washing there unless you watch your clothing. There are various people who got clothing taken within the last year. It's like a hidden laudrey mat. I went on a Monday and there was no one there .I had the whole place to myself . Lots of machines, a patio in back so you can sit and wait . The girl that worked there was very helpful . If I'm ever in need of washing my clothes asap again, I'll be sure to come back here . read more

We love Star Laundry. Janis is always in there running the place and she is a sweetheart. We wait and only do our laundry every other weekend so the big machines are great when you are doing big loads. They have a small bathroom that's always clean and a nice shared back patio when it's good weather. The TV is always on and the people that use the facility are always very nice. All in all this place has everything you want in a laundromat. read more

First of all I would like to point out that Google Maps has this place listed as Huntington Square Coin-Op Laundry. So let's just clear up that confusion right now! I went here for the first time today and I have to say that I am pleased. I am much closer to a number of other laundromats, but my roommates and fellow yelpers have given them less than stellar reviews. I simply do not understand how you can run a laundromat, a shrine to cleanliness, and let it be utterly disgusting! But that is not the case with Star Laundry. It is very clean and almost all the machines worked. I think I may have seen one out of order sign on a dryer. The washing machines are $4 each (18lbs of laundry) and the dryers are $0.25/4 minutes. The dryers are huge and easily fit two loads of laundry and everything actually comes out dry (and I had towels and washcloths in there!) So I got a month's worth of laundry done for $10. Of course I wear my clothes until they either smell or need tightened up! There is also a change machine which takes 1, 5, 10, and 20 dollar bills. There is also a detergent machine though I prefer to bring my own. There's a nice little courtyard out back where you can sit and read on a nice day, but not much sitting room inside. Though I did notice that it is next door to a Subway. Perhaps it is a good idea to do your laundry while having lunch? Another draw back is that there is only one folding table, so best go when it's not busy. I went on a Monday morning and practically had the place to myself! read more
