Brunch on game days is a special kind of challenge in Boston. We showed up 30 mins before they were technically open, and were greeted graciously and sat at a table immediately (likely because of the World Cup & a Red Sox game). When I let my server know I have a gluten allergy, she went back to the chef and returned with helpful tips on exactly what I could eat without getting sick. Their chicken sausage was so savory I could have cried at the sheer beauty explosion in my mouth. I never would have ordered it without the server's recommendation. We waited 30 minutes to get in on a Friday night (perks of not having a cover charge). It was packed when we got in at 12:30. The best thing about Lansdowne is the live band. They did a lot of medleys, throwbacks, and classic songs. Definitely need to be tipsy/drunk because majority of the people seemed pretty wasted by the end of the night. read more

Went there tonight with some friends for my fiancées birthday and to see the band. It started out good but got very packed. Went to the bar to get my fiancée and I a drink. Ordered a Deep Eddies Iced Tea with lemonade and wound up instead with regular vodka and lemonade. Ordered a Tito's and soda with a splash of cranberry but wound up with Tito's and cranberry with a splash of soda. Maybe I'm just picky but nothing was what I ordered. Not to mention having drink spilled all over you by the rude people pushing through the crowd. It just wasn't a pleasant experience. The was good but just could stay and enjoy myself. read more

I wish I could give this place zero stars if I could. I used to love to come to this bar but, last night was awful. Heads up ladies, don't go here. The bouncers are on a power trip and so disrespectful. My friend had to much so we were going to take her home. In the process, we were stopped by a bouncer in the bar who told us, "we were flagged and had to leave". I told her no problem and was going to just use the bathroom before we go. WELL. When we got out, this guy came to us and told us yet again we had to leave and had a "short cut" so we wouldn't have to go through the crowd. Brings us through the kitchen, outside through the alley and to the front. Told us we were all kicked out. OH. And they refused us going back in to get our jackets which we PAID for the coat check for. I asked to speak to their manager and they just made a big joke about it all. So their "inside" manager had to get our coats while we were waiting out in the freezing cold. I asked if we could at least wait in the entrance since it was only 20 degrees. The bouncer thought it was hilarious and used his power trip. We waited in the FREEZING cold for 20 minutes for our coats. By the third time of the wrong coat, I was so angry and he let go in to get my damn coat. Like are you kidding me? Great place girls to be treated like a second class citizen. Fingers crossed none of the girls get tipsy because you'll get treated like shit for helping take care of one of them. Best part they sent the cop to us and we just told them we just wanted our coats to leave? Who knew ‍. I have never been treated like this in any bar in Boston! read more

The Lansdowne Pub is an awesome addition to Lansdowne Street. It brings a completely new vibe and a much needed change. Sure, Fenway has a lot of sports bars or those types of places - but the Pub has a classic neighborhood-y feel, while still being a great place pre/post/during a game. They have replicated Guinness Factory doors in the bar. There's a bar rail, lots of comfy nooks and crannies all around, a stage for live music. There is a really great food menu (you've GOT to try to fried mars bars...I had to stop myself from ordering 5). I just found out they're doing Brunch on Saturdays and Sundays - Irish breakfast? Yesss please. The Pub is a perfect mix of Old Irish and New Boston. Love it. read more

I was surprised at the quality of food at Lansdowne Pub, which was much better than usual pub food. I'm not sure what The Lansdowne Pub is like on a weekend, but it was a great stop during the week. I would highly recommend taking a trip here for the food, the live music, or just for an affordable drink. Try the onion and ale soup and the bread pudding with whiskey caramel sauce if they have it! It's a shame that such a great pub is located on such an annoying street though. I will definitely be back, but probably still not on the weekend. read more

With a rich dark wood bar that spans the length of the back wall to provide ample space for thirsty patrons you will never wait long for a drink. This bar also serves a small private event space on the right. Need your own space for your own event? Just look to your left. Plenty of tables and chairs as well as a private bar await you. The vast amount of space here allows multiple groups to join together for a fun night of food, drinks, and oftentimes live music. No matter what it is, The Lansdowne seems to be able to accommodate any type of event's needs. The staff there is easy to work with and are able to provide you and your guests whatever you need. I've organized an event here; I would know. Need food? You'll get it (go with the grilled cheese). Need a bartender? You'll get one and they will be fantastic. Need a band? Get one if there isn't one already. Just going for a night out? Note that beer is just as expensive as mixed drinks ($7-$10), so go bottoms up with the hard stuff. Get your groove on to live bands or a DJ. It never seems to get too crowded even when there are tons of people inside. No matter what, there is a good time to be had here. After several tweet-ups, a birthday party, live-band karaoke (no, I did NOT sing), a farewell fiesta and even a fundraiser for boobies, it's safe to say that The Lansdowne covers all the bases when it comes to executing on events. The staff is always extremely helpful and friendly, the food is plentiful and the many nooks and crannies around the main room allow for the smooth carrying on of simultaneous multiple functions. This place is terrible. Went here after hours to meet up with some friends in Boston. The music was terrible. The bar service was atrocious. It took my boyfriend almost 20 minutes to get one drink so to save time, he ordered two. The bathrooms were disgusting and to top it off someone was throwing glasses and beer bottles in our direction the entire 30 minutes we were there. Skip this place. Went with some co-workers for karaoke last night. A friend was singing a song and a good group of us were singing and dancing right in front of her and I started dancing with her on stage. Apparently they look down on this, which btw I had no idea about (it was my first time here), and some thug with a mohawk manhandled me and physically threw me off stage. Not cool man. I stumbled into this place after emailing a bunch of bars in Boston to host my 25th birthday! This was back in 2014! I came to the pub and was greeted by Kristen who was the event coordinator. She was very welcoming and gave me a tour of the entire place. At first I was unsure about this place because I wanted to know if there was a fee for hosting a party and if there was, how much would it be and was there a private room. Kristen took me to the snug in the back and showed me how the set ups could be. I really liked it because it gave it a personal and intimate touch. Whoever was back her was having their own bartender too which was nice so my guests would not have to go out to the main bar and wait for a drink or two. A week later, Kristen emailed me and said we were all set for my specific date. I was very excited and from there she helped me coordinate a menu and theme! Day of the party she let me come in early to see the room, decorate and meet the people who would be "staffing" my event. It was a huge success and fast forward to now (2015) I am still having events at the Lansdowne. I just hosted my 26th birthday a week or two ago and throughout the year, I am always hosting/organizing work outings. Anytime I bring in my coworkers, Kristen always sends out some appetizers for my group. I have definitely develop a good connection and friend with Kristen and the Lansdowne Pub! I will continuously give them my business! Oh and to add, the wait staff I have had has always been phenomenal! They are a great place and I would highly suggest them to anyone! I was very displeased with the service. I purchased tickets for a private event and they oversold. I had to wait over an hour in the cold to get in, and when I did get in my ticket was not even checked. When I got into the bar, the staff removed my half full drink that I left for a second on the table. My friends winter coat was also stolen from the coat room. When we asked the staff about the missing coat, they were entirely unhelpful. read more

It is a great atmosphere. When you think "pub" or "bar" this is what you envision. It is classy without being snobby. All types of people welcome. The wait staff and bartenders are incredibly pleasant and cheerful. The music form live bands can be a bit too loud, but that is the only negative thing I can say about the place. This place is full of bros so if you're into live bands, chugging beer, and a casual vibe that allows dancing, you'd probably enjoy yourself here. There are two rooms: one with a live band, and the other blasting house music reminding me of a trashy small Euro club. What doesn't make sense is that there is usually a line to get into Landsdowne Pub, but if you walk down a few feet to enter the "house music" bar (which is connected), there is no line at all, but you can just crossover once inside. I wouldn't come back here since there are better places to go in Boston that don't charge cover (whereas this joint does), but if you're in college and like to hang out with frat-like guys, this is your haven. read more

Wait a minute - how the hell is this bar on Landsdowne? While I'll miss cheesy Jake Ivory's, this place is great. First of all, it's HUGE and there's even a private room. The decor is cool - think Beacon Street or Washington Square taverns - red lights, antique signage, a huge bookcase with books and dark woods. They even have Boddington's! Score! The menu looked great and I definitely plan on going back for the homemade potato chips and cheese dip. I could see meeting friends here or getting rowdy on the weekends. I had the boneless wings last time I was there and they were good, not great. I probably wouldn't go out of my way to go back, but it is super convenient if you are going to a game at Fenway or a show at House of Blues. Cons: way overcrowded, crappy cover band performing when I went, but the real deal breaker was that you pay to get in, you pay to check your coat, and then they put almost no alcohol in your drink. Absolutely terrible experience. DO NOT COME HERE!! After waiting in line and paying for the cover, my friend and I went to order a drink. I asked for a drink with no ice but got all ice. I politely asked her if I could have it with no ice like I asked it for and this short blonde bartender just started cussing my friend and I out and refused to serve us. She had the other bartenders call us derogatory names and called for the bouncers to come kick us out. This was minutes after we had gotten in. Whether it's roaming around the huge space to escape Bill's Bar, chilling out like a true VIP in the "exclusive" VIP Section or supporting boobs by boozing (or sipping ginger ale)- I very much enjoy my time at Lansdowne. The ability to have a live band really creates a gem in Fenway night-life that is typically filled with hourglass plastic cups full of "slush", 'flash me' hand stamps that get me in the door, cover charges to sweat and overcrowded sports bars. The Lansdowne Pub is like the place I'm proud to admit I'm going to in the Fenway area- and the fact that they have great events for charity- like Booze for Boobies, makes me love it even more. Cool pub, makes you feel like you're in 'Beantown'. Has that old time Boston feel and just steps from Fenway Park. The outdoor area is nice for drinks or eats on a dry summer night. Food and drinks is okay for a place that gets pretty backed before and during a Red Sox game. BUT their service lacks friendliness and help. Not only did the major D come to us and asked us to hurry up and pay our bill but when the bill did come to our table and we gave them our CC, it took them almost 45 minutes and maybe more to return back to our table. We asked our waitress and also manager about our check and credit card but everyone kept giving us the run around. After waiting and getting frustrated the manager finally came up to us and told us that someone had misplaced our cc!! They finally found it and we weren't even given a comp on round of drinks or anything. My fiance and I returned last night to see Casey Desmond and Gentlemen Hall perform a special show to celebrate the rebirth of WFNX. The Lansdowne Pub is great. Not tiny, but not enormous. A long bar with plentiful access. Typically 4+ bartenders working at once. Plentiful nearby parking options. Not-sketchy bathrooms. Vintage wood detailing - very Bostonian. If I could give this place zero stars I would. My Husband, and I went here with my family for opening day of the Red Sox Season. My husbands ID was not excepted, which was funny since we are way over 21. We told them we were not here to drink, but that were just needed to go in and get my mother. They STILL would not let my husband in, even with another form of ID. I went and got the manager, and he wouldn't look at my husbands ID, he just said that he was going to go ahead and side with the bouncer. So long story short, my husband and I had to go and get our marriage license, just so we could get in this stupid bar to get my parents. The bouncer refused us an apology after we went through all of that, the male manager avoided all forms of eye contact with us, and they ended up losing $40 in profit because they paid my parents tab, not to mention us and our friends as customers. The ONLY kind person here was the female manager, and honestly I felt bad for the waitress that was involved as well. This all could have been handled so much better, instead of the Bouncer that claimed he has been doing this for TEN YEARS. Clearly he needs to revaluate his knowledge on ID's. read more

This past Sunday night I ran an event with close to 500 guests in attendance. I have been in the entertainment business for over 30 years and I can't remember any event going this smoothly. This on a day when the Lansdowne staff had to re-group after the Phantom Gourmet Food fest. Management and staff here are the best in the business. Everything was perfect !! I couldn't he happier with the results. Big thanks to Laura, Meaghan, Chris and Steve. All the bartenders and wait staff. But especially to Whit Love for his expert work with our musicians. I love this place. I've been going here since college and continue to make my way back there even now that I'm a few years out of school. Fridays are the best with the live band that plays 90s covers/today's hits. It's a $5 cover but you expect that for a live band, you have to pay them. Drinks are reasonably priced and the space is pretty big. I'd suggest not going here 100% sober and it is a little bro-y/college-y but honestly, sometimes you need those nights! I finally got the chance to check out the new drinking establishment on Lansdowne Street. Wow! What a far cry from the dingyness that was Jake Ivory's! The set up is great with a large bar and lots of standing room in the bar area. I am also a fan of the long curvy table and high chairs for those that wish to sit whilst drinking. The restaurant was full, but not packed. It didn't look like there was a wait for a table, but we did go before the game on a rainy weeknight so I'm not sure what the crowds would be like on a sunny Saturday. Our waitress was slow and not very attentive. It took a while to order beers and then again for our beers to arrive. Our order of chicken bites didn't take long to arrive from the kitchen though. My sister and I were able to pass the time though by trying to figure out if one of the busboys was in fact Joey McIntyre. He, my friends, would definitely be a reason to come back! :) The beer selection is good - your typical Irish brews of Guinness, Harp, and Smithwick's are on tap along with the local favorites, Sam and Harpoon. I was especially excited to see Sam Red Brick Ale on tap! I did notice more selections in the bottle, but I didn't take a look at what they offered. Overall, a great place to grab a few drinks before the game although I might come back on a non-game night to check out their dinner menu. read more

I went here before the Billy Joel concert at Fenway Park and am really glad I did. The space is very open, the bathrooms are clean, and atmosphere is inviting. The fried fish sandwich is the real deal. It came with a ton of really good crinkle cut French fries that could have been a little warmer.
