We walked in just in time for happy hour and the cocktails were superb. Upon sitting down, we attacked the menu and ordered a variety of dishes. Our server J was awesome and was on top of her game that night. All of us enjoyed the Truffled Tuna, Oolong Hamachi, Tuna Tartados, Dashi Sautéed Mussels, and the Seafood Risotto. Being no where near an ocean, we were surprised that these were the best dishes of the evening. The Luxury Shrimp was tasty, yet quite excessive for a dish. Maybe bigger and less shrimp would improve it... The Steak Tartare was not a favorite at the table, yet was prepared fine. I think we all prefer our beef cooked. The Carter Country Top Sirloin came out as a fail. We ordered two of them and they both showed up very rare. We did eventually send one back to get cooked more. read more

My photos are deceiving. Everyone in this restaurant sent their food back because it was too cold or undercooked. The chef/owner also grabbed a customers plate, licked his fingers after poking their food, and then left. He returns after a few seconds and and then hands the same plate of food back to the customers! Later in the night, I saw a waitress wipe her face after leaving the kitchen. After witnessing a few of these moments, I was getting more disgusted. My family and I had a terrible experience at this restaurant. We would not come back. read more

While visiting Jackson Hole, we choose to dine at The Kitchen last evening. We made reservations through Open Table and unfortunately, I just received an email that the restaurant canceled our reservation and I did not earn my 100 points after spending a good chunk of change dining there. This restaurant is small inside and has an outdoor seating area. I like the intimate ambiance inside. Sam our waiter was engaging and provided great service. The manager jumped in and helped clear dishes and talked to us informing us of their other properties when we said how much we enjoyed our food. We got there right before happy hour was ending so we took advantage of this and ordered two appetizers, the hamachi ceviche and the buffalo flank steak both $10. I also had the special gin cocktail $6. The ceviche was chopped yellowtail on crispy chips. I never had ceviche served this way. It was good but a very small portion. The buffalo was served medium rare and cooked perfectly and tasted even better. This was a decent portion. It was served on some sprouts, scallions and carrots. We then ordered off the regular menu after our happy hour specials. I had the watermelon salad with feta and tomato and my husband had the tomato salad, both fresh and bright. My husband had the duck breast with snap peas & mushrooms and a scallion crepe. The duck was perfectly cooked and tasted like a steak, not greasy at all like duck can be. I had the tuna sashimi, which were five tiny pieces of tuna wrapped around chopped tuna and topped with scallions and a ponzu sauce. These were very good and fresh, but a very small portion. We ended our meal sharing the potato chip pie. This was amazing! An oatmeal crust with a butter and brown sugar filling with potato chips. A very unusual creation and delicious. I would definitely recommend The Kitchen. I don't understand the very negative reviews. My party and I came here after another restaurant was going to be over an hour wait, so you can imagine our surprise when we got straight in here. Add to that this place is more like an aircraft hanger in its internal style with its arch shaped ceiling and modern styling and you can imagine we were a little worried on what was to come, however Yelp reviews said otherwise so we waited with baited breath. One thing to note is that the interior design of this place does make it quiet and easy to talk with others in a party even when it's busy, that was very welcoming. Water was brought to us immediately and our drink order taken and delivered quickly, of note is the Widener Hefeweizen, but be aware there are no draft beers here just bottles but still good. Food order was taken when drinks arrived, so far so good, though there is a twist in this tale...but first the food... We ordered a starter between us of Grilled Calamari - interesting take on Calamari, in orange sauce with mandarins mixed in. Pretty awesome and also nice light appetizer to boot. Mains: Roadhouse IPA Marinated Hoisin Spare Ribs Korean BBQ Pulled Buffalo Sandwich Herb Crusted Lava Lake Lamb T-Bone All these were great and very much enjoyed, I really cannot say anything but good of the food here. What let this place down on the night we were there was (ironically) the kitchen. They took forever bringing our mains and I mean over an hour from our first course - our server apologized over and over. When we got it, it was great and clearly this is not normal. We actually got our meal for free. I went and gave our server the appropriate tip on the way out still regardless and she was grateful but clearly embarrassed but I let her know she handled it better than most would and she earned it. Honestly, there was clearly some staffing issue going on on the kitchen the evening we were they - I would give this place another try. read more

This is a happy hour review. The Skinny: their appetizers are really hit or miss (3), service is efficient (3) all style and little substance makes this place a (3) starred joint. I do not need to return. After perusing Yelp, we decided to hit up this joint for their happy hour specials. We tried all 8 appetizers for $5 each which made for a little tapas styled meal. I was a little skeptical about the Asian twist... and these concerns were well founded. Spicy Chai buttermilk dayboat scallops: this dish was okay. I really didn't get anything that tasted of chai - the flavors were largely dominated by the ginger and green onion. Scottish salmon with cucumber lemon: unimpressed with the quality of the salmon - surprisingly flavorless. The cucumber lemon sauce was underwhelming and it needed a hit of soy to liven up the flavors. Cilantro encrusted Tuna tataki: again substandard flavorless tuna sitting in a bland watery sauce. Couldn't taste the cilantro. Decidedly unimpressive. Korean BBQ buffalo slider: this dish did not work out well at all. This was supposed to be sort of a pulled pork styled slider using buffalo instead. However, the buffalo is too lean for this style of preparation, rendering the meat too tough/dry. The "Korean" styled marinade was too one dimensional (spicy) and missed that sweet smokiness one normally associated with bulgogi. Kumquat salad - the raw large pieces of uncooked kumquat really overwhelmed the salad. The overly floral flavor accompanied by the sour, acidic, gritty lingering aftertaste of the fruit's oils was unpleasant. To sum up this experience - it was like biting into a Glade plug-in scented oil pack. It would have been better stewed or cooked down somewhat to eliminate the harshness of the fresh fruit. The surrounding arugula or mizuna/tomato could not save this at all. Bad - would not recommend. Pickled watermelon salad: this was so delicious it was hard to believe this came from the same kitchen as the aforementioned kumquat dish. Sweet and sour pickled watermelon contrasted nicely with perfectly dressed peppery mizuna. Great flavor and by far the best dish of the night. Luxurious lettuce wraps: a great deal! Good serving size on the rock shrimp tempura. The rock shrimp coating was perfect and crisp. The sauce was very good as well. Only mild criticism is the cabbage underneath was a bit bitter. Overall a good value for this dish. Sweet potato fries: a good rendition. The yuzu aioli could have used more yuzu to brighten up the flavor a bit but otherwise no other complaints. Overall, given the hit or miss kind of cuisine here, I have no particular urge to come back. Although the presentation is nice, the food just isn't up to par and needs a more editing eye. For that, this place gets a 3 starred review. read more

First time trying this restaurant was last month in Jackson! I thought it would be too cold to sit outside in the evening, but under the heat lamps our group was totally fine! There was lots of outdoor dining that was all socially distanced because of COVID-19. We were able to catch the end of happy hour that had drink and appetizer deals. Then we stayed for dinner - I had the red snapper over a spicy curry. It was delicious and cooked perfectly, but not anything unique. I'd recommend the short rib ramen or the red deer entrees for something more special. read more

We were seated for dinner there tonight at the bar. Waitress took our drink order right away. She returned with our drinks, but the cocktail served to us was awful, bitter and nasty. She then left us to sit with that disgusting mess for 15-20 minutes before returning to take our food order. Drink was so bad we decided to get the F out of there before they could further damage us with their cooking. This is a world class restaurant worthy of a Michelin star. Some really amazing starters. Ahi Tostados is a bite that is masterfully created with textures and flavors. The Bao buns are soft pillows filled with layers of flavors. Not the dense puffy buns filled with a one note bbq pork. We shared those two dishes and asked for the menu back. The chef is talented we had to order some more of his starters. We joked cancel the entrees bring us every starter and another plate of those mini tostados. No idea why they named this restaurant "Kitchen" as the decor and food are very complex and delightful. Nice break from the slabs of beef and game being served everywhere in town. Good cocktails too. I had a wonderful dinner experience last night at The Kitchen . A "surprise" (to me) pork belly amuse bousche was in the out of this world category. The Luxury Shrimp platter was my entree; it could probably serve up to three as an appetizer. The truffle fries were wonderful. An Amstel Light was an enjoyable replacement; I found the Pako IPA had a bit too harsh a finish. All very reasonable at $28.62 before tip. Spectacular dining and service. The dishes are amazing (some reviewers said portions were small, but we found them to be perfect, if not generous!). We had the steelhead trout special and the chimichurri steak, plus ahi tuna tostada appetizer--all outstanding. We had 5:30pm reservations and were able to take advantage of happy hour drinks (Sean Minor Pinot Noir for $6 a glass). Very good, but not quite great. Good food and drink selection, really like that they specialize in whiskey and have a number to prove it! I opted for the oysters rockefeller paired with a Grenache Gris (great recommendation from the bartender!). There was a ton of breading which made it a bit dry, but nevertheless ok. I had the local trout dish for the main - figured I had to vary it up from all the local game I've been having! I asked the bartender if she thought the preparation would stand up to a red. She said their carignan went very well... she was certainly right! Rounded out the meal with one of their reserve whiskey's over a nice large ice ball - nice touch! read more

Something tells me that either there are plenty of fake reviews or the chef has left this place. The food was beyond terrible. The pork skin chips were inedible, they had dry chili powder on them that you would breath in and get into terrible cough. The bone marrow was simply a bone, no marrow. The pork Khimchi rice had nothing Korean about it. It was well below average. The fish was not high quality. The cocktails didn't stand a chance. And to make matters worse, we politely expressed our displeasure on pork skin chips and the waiter snapped. I am struggling to say one good thing about this place. read more

BEST scallops I've ever had! (my mouth is watering just thinking about them) The Kitchen is a MUST when visiting Jackson Hole! I was there back in February, and had the best dining experience. We walked through the cold winter snow and it was so worth it! (Uber is available, we just chose to walk) Their cocktails were creative and fun to drink. I ordered a cocktail with beets! All of their dishes were very detailed and so delicious. We ordered the Asian shrimp as an app and it came with chopsticks, which was a creative way to make the appetizer more authentic. All of the waiters and waitresses worked together and we had a couple of them assist us when choosing what to order. You won't go wrong with anything you order here, but if you are a seafood person GET THE SCALLOPS! read more

Well we ended up in Jackson Hole during the slow shoulder season so honestly there weren't many dinner options on a Tuesday night at 8pm. We stumbled upon this place and we were glad! The food and service was impeccable. We had 4 different entrees and everything was wonderful. My spouse and I each ordered a soft drink, and at $3.50 we never were even offered a refill. Which we could have used. I ordered the scallops and while they were good it was $35 for 3 small scallops. Much more of what I would expect for an appetizer than a meal. We had dinner at The Kitchen after a full day in Yellowstone and it did not disappoint. The food was delicious and we could not have had better service. Rob was excellent. He made us feel extra special on our anniversary weekend. From the moment he came by he was extremely attentive, shared great recommendations (hibachi, calamari, Halibut), and we were delighted by the food. We had a lovely bottle of wine and Rob also gave us a lovely glass of sparkling Rose to start out our special night. For desert we asked to be surprised and got 3 lovely dishes- we loved the Potato chip pie the best.
