Had a wonderful experience here, everything we ordered was excellent. The steak was perfectly cooked, the chicken was flavorful, the wedge salad was fresh and crisp, and the brownie was the perfect finish. Definitely recommend making a reservation because it was busy!

    Cutest drink menu.

Had a great experience here. Burgers were great, drinks were wonderful, service was great and such a cozy spot to be inside in a snowy day. We'd totally return!

The food, the service and the decor were fantastic. Our waitress, Chelsea, was outstanding. We had the charcuterie board, a couple drinks, elk medallions and elk chop. This food was amazingly delicious.

Another night without reservations but was able to grab seats at the bar. Fun, engaging staff and nice people seated in the area. Fun environment. Can't beat the happy hour special with half priced cocktails. Fun times :-). Asked to turn the TV channel to the baseball game and they happily obliged. Couple next to us raved about the steak frites. Hangar steak with a chimichurri sauce and fries. Steak was very flavorful and the sauce was a good add. Fries were just ok.

Chill local spot. Friendly and attentive staffs! Chili's was good but hope it comes with Frittos. Bone Marrow was fine but the tomato sauce that came with it pairs great with grilled focaccia.

I am crying...simply because I don't live anywhere near here and likely will need to wait several years to have it again. My husband and I couldn't get a reservation - so we stopped by close to 6PM on a Friday; we were told they'd put us on the list for the bar only, but we had to stick around, as they wouldn't call/text us. We decided it was worth the try and ended up only waiting about 20 minutes. First, I laughed that all their seasonal cocktails were named for Happy Gilmore references - but the two that I tried were refreshing and light. For food, we shared a caesar salad, which was great. Then, we shared one of their nightly specials - of course, a steak. It was truly, the best steak I've ever had in my life - the perfectly seared crust and the flaky sea salt? Absolutely divine. For sides, we did the wild mushrooms and potato gratin. I wish we'd gotten the mashed potatoes, as the gratin was a bit on the dry side - but was still tasty. Finally, we ended the sticky toffee pudding and vanilla ice cream. YUM! The caramel sauce was truly so divine, I wanted to like it off the plate. The bartenders were attentive, fun and answered all our questions with ease. Truly such a fun spot for a date night in Jackson.

Doesn't Live Up to the Hype While planning our Jackson trip, I wanted a memorable dining experience and booked Local based on rave reviews. Sadly, it was mostly a letdown. The host wasn't welcoming, and the place was so loud our server had to shout. We ordered several dishes, hoping the high prices meant high quality. My soup was delicious, but the sweet corn and asparagus risotto (the ONLY! GF and vegetarian entrée) was sticky, undercooked, and flavorless -- I had to send it back. My husband liked his Caprese salad, but the Buffalo Wellington was tiny, underwhelming, and overpriced. Our daughter was satisfied with her buffalo Bolognese, but overall, the food was hit or miss. The vibe and hype don't match the reality -- there are definitely better hidden gems in Jackson that won't leave you feeling disappointed (or overcharged).

If you are headed to Jackson Hole proper, check this place out. The service, food and drinks were excellent. We started with a shrimp cocktail and bread. Shrimp were large, cocktail sauce needed more horseradish, bread was fresh. Cocktails were on point. Nice whiskey selection too. My elk T-bone was delicious. Not gamey, very mild, super tender. My girlfriend's risotto was cooked perfectly with great flavor. Sides were also good. The bread pudding could use some work, it was a little bland. Not gonna ding them though. Check this place out if you are in downtown Jackson Hole!

The Local on the Square was a surprisingly enjoyable dining experience. I was expecting a more touristy atmosphere. The interior of the restaurant had very classic gastropub feel with a modern twist. I ordered a ribeye steak cooked medium rare. It was delicious and cooked two order although I had to add a little bit more pepper just round out the overall flavor profile. The truffle mac & cheese was super delicious. Huckleberry old-fashioned I had was pretty good. It tasted more like a regular old-fashioned versus a "huckleberry" old-fashioned which is kind of disappointing since I was eager to try it. Service was good. Despite being sat at the bar the bartender only checked in about 3 times. But I get it since the restaurant was fairly busy but the food was delicious and I had a good time.

Still great! The service, the food, the libations. We thoroughly enjoy Local when in town.

First night in Jackson Hole! We made reservations for three to try one of the "best steaks" in town ... and the restaurant had such a great vibe. Inside felt rustic yet classic, with a western dressy-casual feel. We didn't feel underdressed at all, still rocking our boots and jean jackets! We were celebrating my husband's 50th and started with the Focaccia, warm, soft, and served with delicious compound butter. We could've easily eaten another round! We also tried the Herb Roasted Bone Marrow with roasted tomato vinaigrette ...absolutely melted in our mouths. My husband ordered the 14 oz Elk Steak, which was tender but felt small and overpriced. My teen and I ordered the 14 oz Ribeye, and we shared Brussels sprouts and mashed potatoes...both were excellent sides. Our waiter was just okay. He seemed more focused on the larger table behind us ordering bottles of wine, so our table felt overlooked. It took quite a while for him to come back, and by the time he asked about dessert, we just requested the check. Because of the service, the overall experience felt just okay -- the steaks were good, but not worth the price or the attitude.

The food was amazing and we had no trouble getting reservations but calling ahead. The French onion soup was to die for.

Is there a dress code? Or is it pretty casual (jeans & nice shirt)?

Casual was accepted. During the summer, many customers wear shorts and sandals at lunch.

    Are reservations necessary?

When we went in the fall, reservations were necessary. You can try to grab a seat at the bar, but it's pretty jam packed.

A thoroughly enjoyable evening and dinner…read more Possibly the best ribeye I've had in the past 10 years, but the other "foam and powder"aspects of the dish were just silly. The so called General Tso steak sauce was like a thimbleful smear and completely irrelevant. BBQ Ramen seasoning? Not even enough to get a taste profile of it. The trout with a green curry sauce was good but again, ummmm.... Trout has a subtle flavor. Green curry coconut sauce, and stuffed with another type of Asian something something....might as just as well better to use a neutral tasting fish like a better quality tilapia imho. Let trout taste like trout. Use a different, neutral tasting fish for these kinds of sauces and fillings. Well at least it wasn't covered with a garnish of micro greens lol. Just a little cilantro heh heh heh. I mean don't get me wrong. Both entrees were okay. But a waste of quality fish when a less costly fish would have been fine what with all those other flavors. And the foam and powder embellishments on the steak were barely noticeable. The whole menu reads like a community college cooking school graduate little bit of this little bit of that. When I get home I'm going to have fun writing the different components of all the menu items on index cards, shuffle, and see what combinations come up each time. And I love the idea of a General Tso steak sauce and want to try creating one. And using a packet of Ramen seasoning instead of Cajun seasoning sounds like a fun thing to try. I just won't do it on a fifty dollar piece of meat. If you are counting calories you skip the gross doughnut hole dessert. Dense ball of dough. Gummy. Like they used a cake doughnut recipe instead of a yeast doughnut or beignet recipe. But if not counting calories , go for it. It's fun to try the sauces, even if not that great a doughnut. Great, festive, lively ambiance . Super friendly staff and service.

With so many strong restaurants in Jackson, this one didn't stand out as one we would revisit…read more Our server was lovely--friendly, attentive, and clearly doing their best. Unfortunately, the bar was painfully slow. Our first round of drinks took about 15 minutes, and the second took closer to 30 minutes after ordering. We eventually had to check in to make sure they were even coming. The food was fine, but not something we'd come back for. The elk pasta lacked the depth and richness you expect from a bolognese. The trout--poblano stuffed and curry-prepared--was an interesting idea, but the curry completely overpowered the fish, making the dish feel unbalanced. We had curry-dusted trout at The Blue Lion earlier in the week that was far better. (One of the best trout meals I've ever had.)

It is sort of tapas style and goes nice if you decide to eat family style. The entrees are sort of medium sized portions, so, in most cases if you share with one person you should get 2-3 dishes. If you have a light appetite, though, one of the pastas would be plenty for you. We got the Caesar salad, the elk bolganaise, and the short rib. Everything was good. They made me a couple standard Old Fashioneds different than the menu option, which were excellent. It was a new Rye to me so I took a picture of the bottle to get some at home. Prices were on the high side, but service and quality were good. My drink was $22 which, frankly was a little obscene for an Old Fashioned with a "mid-range" rye, but I was on vacation and I still had a 2nd. LOL. It was great. It's just a lot for a drink. If you want to go over the top, they also have a Tomahawk steak for $126 that I'm sure is excellent. A lot of folks were getting the bone marrow which looked good. Entrees seemed to be around $30 each. I would go back. I liked sitting at the bar and talking to people. Bartenders were really great about spacing out the food so things didn't come on top of one another.

Heard great things about Glorietta Trattoria so booked it when visiting Jackson Hole this weekend…read more It did not disappoint. First, it's located in what was a killer old house in downtown. Open style kitchen and a gathering waterhole type bar. Note: the seats at the bar reserve faster than the tables. After seeing the insides I can see why. Simply amazing. Our waitress knew the menu front to back with all the nuances. When we asked what some of her favorites were. She literally rattled off 1/2 the menu. Menu is not over sized, on purpose. Every dish is well thought out and executed to perfection. Note #2: the Ceasar Salad is enough for 2 or more! And it's fantastic. About the only thing I could suggest to be better here is if management had pre-printed "Cowboy hat etiquette" cards to hand out to the patrons who arrive with hats. Lots of hats. Not a lot of true understanding for Cowboy Hat etiquette. From casual to formal, hats are off while sitting and dining. Highly recommend Glorietta Trattoria. Just remember to take your hat off at the table.

But the server convinced me to order the signature rack of lamb at The Blue Lion and I swear it was one of the best meals I have ever eaten in my entire life. I'm not exaggerating when I say I almost cried at the table. At one point I stopped talking entirely and just stared at the plate like I was having a spiritual experience. Was it expensive? Yes. Did they offer my wife a birthday dessert? They did not. Did I briefly consider licking the plate in public anyway? Also yes. None of it matters because that lamb transcended earthly cuisine. I will be 87 years old in a rocking chair still whispering about "that lamb in Jackson Hole." I don't know what dark culinary pact was made in that kitchen, but I support it fully. I swear... I will dream about that lamb.

Overall, worth visiting, especially for the lamb.

Taking advice from a local, we decided to try something new and were so impressed that halfway through our first meal, we promptly booked a second night. The atmosphere is chic but warm, with personable staff and an ambitious chef and team. Our server Chris took excellent care of us both nights, remembering us, demonstrating a deep knowledge of the menu, and offering thoughtful suggestions. Over the course of two evenings, we also met Chef Hugo and Matt, the General Manager. The French-leaning menu is driven by local ingredients with an emphasis on quality and sourcing. The cocktails are innovative, and we appreciated the sommelier's advice on wine pairings. For entrees, we especially enjoyed the bison and venison that showcased the wild game with creative but restrained accompaniments. For smaller plates, we also recommend the quail, beef tartare, red cabbage, and parsnip soup. All the elements on the plate -- proteins, grains, produce, and sauces -- were deliberate and properly cooked and seasoned. Several dishes would feel at home on the menus of critically acclaimed restaurants. We're impressed by what Chef Hugo and his team are creating and will look forward to returning when we come back through town.

From the initial pallet cleanser, to the appetizers, to the pre-meal, to the mail, to the dessert essentially every bite was incredible. Only negative comment would' be that the Seabass came out a little bit dry from the kitchen. Looked incredible but tasted dry. The service was spectacular. Wonderful gentleman who helped make our evening memorable. And their wine smaller was equally as personable. Turns out they had a seven course tasting dinner two nights later for Valentine's Day. We immediately canceled our existing reservation and rebooked for Wild Sage. Two nights later, during their tasting event, which came with wine pairings for each of the seven courses, we had the Chef stop by our table several times. Good looking young 40-year-old chef who knew his menu and the ingredients backwards and forwards. He had hand selected and sourced every ingredient from sustainable sourced resources. He had really gone out of his way to make it a special meal for everybody, all seven courses.
