Last minute changes and moved to The Kitchen for dinner in Jackson. Interior decor is unique with a barrel rolled second ceiling . The bar seating was available and allowed us to watch the kitchen staff hustling. Once seated, we waited for Beste to take our order, about 10 minutes. She was MIA most of the evening. Our evening started with the braised beef bao bun with carrot, kimchi, sesame seeds, kimchi aioli, and pickled onions. The flavor was good but it was grossly over-sauced and extremely messy. The bao bun was delivered broken in half. The lemongrass flavored pork dumplings were accompanied with onions, radishes and fermented black bean chili crisp. The dumplings were boiled and had no crispness from being pan seared which left a doughy taste. Our favorite was the Caeser salad with gem lettuce, tahini Caesar, aged parm and nori dusted rice crisp. A truly crisp bite with little taste crunches from the nori and tasty tahini Caesar. Homerun! Our final dish was the shrimp toast with kimchi aioli, pickled jalapeno, toasted sesame seeds on a milk bread slice. There was no shrimp taste and was told it was a "thin" shrimp mousse spread covered by other ingredients. I would bet there is less than a teaspoon of mousse on 4 pieces of toast. I have several issues with tonight's dining experience. A waitress, Beste was MIA, left empty plates piled up with limited room at the bar, did not change out plates coated with kimchi sauce between services, and a short attitude when we asked about "where is the shrimp". I hope the restaurant can correct these issues or find help that truly cares. Hospitality means pay attention and "Anticipate" the patrons need prior to them realizing it. Never in my life! You have to read to the end because otherwise you won't understand my rating. Business dinner of five people and we had several appetizers; tempura shrimp was okay, pork belly fried rice, a little undercooked, the grilled squid never showed up and the pork dumplings were the very best of all apps and were truly delicious. I would have taken one star from these guys only because the kimchi was not great. The entree's were all very good. I will speak for mine which was the short rib. The polenta and the sauce were amazing! The short rib, a little tough, but still had a great flavor. We shared two desserts which were very good; the cookie skillet and the chip cake? The service was top notch. Everyone makes sure you have what you need. Great teamwork and the ambience is great. Small, not overcrowded and not too loud. Why 2 stars? Reservation was for 5:30 and we ordered drinks and settled in the ordered our food. At around 7:05 we paid the bill and and were just finalizing some business conversation when the host walks to our table at 7:15 and says he has a very impatient customer and he needs to reset our table. A passive way of telling us to leave. Never in my life has this happened to me and I have eaten all over the world. I live two weeks in Jackson every month. I texted my wife during our meal and said next time she comes with me we have to come back here. I can promise you, that will not happen. I will not darken their door again. I politely told the host in front of his impatient customer that this has never happened in my life and I wouldn't be back. read more

We had the a wonderful meal at The Kitchen. We got a reservation a day or two before for an early dinner. Perks of an early dinner is the happy hour was still going on for some of our drinks and appetizers. Everyone at the table loved their entrees and the plates were clean by the end. Portion sizes were respectable but not huge. If you come with a large appetite after skiing I would recommend getting an appetizer or two and prepare for dessert at the end. The night we were there was very noisy, almost impossible to carry on a conversation across the table. Not their fault. I chose the pork shank, which was very yummy; however, it was strangely paired with naan triangles, a cold spicy pickled kimchee and cold pickled carrots and onions. I didn't know if I was supposed to cut the meat off the bone and make little naan sandwiches or eat each item separately. I ate a small amount of the shank and nothing else. The Kitchen's menu pairs most dishes with cold pickled things, so if you don't like pickling, there's not a lot of choice. Nothing that I saw came with a steamed or sautéed vegetable, potatoes or rice. I sampled my husband's polenta and it was tasteless. Most of the menu choices were meat and the scallops were unavailable that night. Very good. Spontaneous meal, with seating at the counter for two. I tried the duck, which was well done - if a little salty and rich. The sauce was pretty spicy too, certain Thai flavors. My mother went for the salmon, which I found to be uninteresting. But that wasn't my choice, after all. People sat next to us had the pork chop and steak, which looked quite good. Maybe next time... We got there during happy hour but neither of us ordered drinks. We lucked into the 2 for $2 deal, which makes the value worthwhile. read more

Please, please read before attending: When we arrived at restaurant for our scheduled reservation, we had reminded the host about the birthday we were celebrating in addition to the weeks of correspondence beforehand. Our waitress had a horrible demeanor and attitude while completely forgetting the birthday. While dealing with the check, the machine wasn't working properly so a friend put down her card instead of the current one. Quickly signing due to the cluster and planning to tip cash, the waitress announced to the whole restaurant that the POS never has any issues and we had tipped zero dollars. It was incredibly rude and cannot believe we received such poor service in a touristy location celebrating a birthday that we drove 8 hours for!! Still in disbelief. Extremely unfortunate. read more

We were 0 for 2 trying to find a place to eat dinner when we were directed here by a local. And what a wonderful recommendation it was. This place was HOPPIN'. I honestly thought we weren't gonna get in. But thankfully there was room in the outdoor seating area, which was quite nice. The weather was perfect. We didn't get to see inside the restaurant, but we still enjoyed our dinner nonetheless. Our service was fast and friendly, and we got great recommendations from our server. And that's all great, but we went there for the food. And the food was outstanding. The drinky drinks were stiff and smooth, and the food... Oh my goodness! The food was amazing. We started with the tempura scromp-scromps (shrimp) appetizer. It was incredible. A perfect crisp and a little spice from the spicy aioli, with a little cabbage to cut the heat. For our main course, my wife enjoyed the wild mushroom ramen, and I had their roasted pork shank. Both were excellent. When she tapped out, I threw some of my remaking pork shank into the ramen to finish it off. Chef's kiss. And then for dessert, our server cleverly enticed us with a dessert menu full of items I desperately wanted to try. Sadly, I was already stuffed, so I agreed to split one item with my wife. And by split, I mean, I think she took one or two bites and I finished the rest because she also was stuffed. I don't usually overheat to the point where I'm completely stuffed, but I did not want to stop eating at The Kitchen. Everything was so incredibly good, I just couldn't leave anything behind. The tofu dish was the absolute best tofu dish I've ever eaten anywhere! The flavor was incredible! Some kimchi would've been a nice addition. Loved the cilantro Microgreens! The tempura shrimp was good. The steak was just OK. Certainly could have used quite a bit more vegetables. We would've liked more than one leaf of bok choy! First time visiting with my family weather reviews on yelp and it sounded good. It was happy hour, so we got some inexpensive drinks and appetizers . The salmon was great, and the shrimp was good as well. For entrées, we had the tofu veggie dish the grass fed steak and everything was excellent ! The Good: The team that works at Kitchen is outstanding. They're friendly, engaging, and have a deep understanding of the menu which is quite helpful if it's your first time eating there. The appetizers were mostly impressive. The cabbage salad was perfectly dressed and had the right amount of ginger vinaigrette to complement the cabbage & carrots. The flavor of the Beef Bao Bun was well balanced; my only criticism was that the bao buns should be served warm and ours were somewhere between cold and room temperature. Still, I would order them again. Our table loved the Okonomiyako. And despite chipping my molar on something inside the Pork Dumplings, they were amazing. However I was distracted by a chipped tooth for the rest of our meal. The Mediocre: Stay away from the General Tso Tofu. It's over powered by the soy sauce, way too rich. It's almost impossible to eat. The chef or cook is too heavy handed with the seasoning. Also they replaced the asparagus with broccoli (our waitress did not mention that) which was fine but the broccoli was too bland when paired w the sad & over cooked & wilted red peppers. The Strip Steak was also a disappointment. It was not tender at all and was too chewy, perhaps once again over cooked which causes this tender cut of steak to become tough and dense. They nailed the first courses and missed on the mains. I would like to go back to explore more of the menu. Again the team that works there is awesome. read more

Their manager racially profiled me, main waiter was extremely rude and assumed we would not tip electronically when we planned to tip cash. A wonderful dining experience from start to finish. The service and food were excellent and the outdoor seating quite nice. We got there during happy hour and started off with the Tamarind Margarita. Aside from the salt it was not very margarita like, but it was still tasty. As appetizers we got the tuna, tempura shrimp and delicious cabbage salad. The tuna was fresh and delightful with cool rice crisps hiding the raw tuna. The tempura was nicely flavored and very light, it felt more like pan fried shrimp. We shared the sizeable and colorful cabbage salad and really enjoyed the light dressing. For mains we had the Mushroom Ramen, King Salmon, and grilled pork chops. All were delicious and I'll let the photos do most of the talking. The ramen was spicy but just right for my taste. We had two desserts, the tart and the skillet. I thought the tart was a bit too hard, but the skillet was just right. It was gone before I could get a photo :-) Everything about the dinner was great. A message for the owner and anyone thinking of dining here: We had an absolutely horrific experience with the manager, Lauren. For starters, our reservation was for 7pm and we were still not fully seated 15 minutes past our reservation time. When we asked Lauren when our table would be ready, she barked at us to not go near the table next to us. I have never in my life been spoken to in a tone so disrespectful in all of my life. We were literally just standing where she told us to. When our waiter came to get drinks started for half our table (as the other half of our large group was still not seated), we asked if it would be possible to get a round on the house to compensate for the missed reservation time. Well guess what happens next?! Lauren comes raging back to our table to tell us NO she won't get us a round and NO she won't apologize for our missed reservation time and doubles down with her arrogant, disrespectful tone. She claimed to love the hospitality industry while yelling at us unapologetically... which in retrospect, is actually quite comical. Please believe me when I tell you all we did was ask a second time when our table would be ready. That did not warrant the abhorrent treatment she gave us. Vibe, ambiance & exceptional service are as important as the food when it comes to an enjoyable dining experience. Let me tell you, The Kitchen will not provide that. As for the manager Lauren, I do hope you read this review and feel some sense of shame in how poorly you treated us that night for no apparent reason. I'd advise you to take some anger management classes along with hospitality classes as you seem to have very little experience in both. read more

Came for dinner and every dish we tasted had a creative and thoughtful flavor palette. We mostly tried seafood dishes. The Hawaiian ono crudo was delicious. Keep in mind it has a lot of nuts if that is not your thing. The scallop crudo was good but the acidity could have been better balanced. I wouldn't get that dish again. Scallion pancake appetizer was like a giant version of an awesome egg roll. Smoked trout dip was one of the best values on the menu for the price. The ramen was larger than expected and had exceptionally flavorful broth. The Al pastor cocktail and the Jedi were both original and fun to try. I would say that were kind of small or overfilled with ice. The decor was consistent with the feel of Jackson but more modern. Service was fast and the staff clearly knew the menu very well. I would definitely recommend the Kitchen to anyone visiting Jackson and will make a point to stop anytime I'm here. read more

Family's Finale Dinner in Jackson Ski Week. I made reservations on the Open Table App as that is what is requested. Slim pickin's if you wait too long. I tried to call as there are sometimes more options available but their recording directs you to the App. We were the first family this evening and it didn't take long for the dining room to fill up. The noise level was a little loud this evening due to a few families with little children but not too loud to not have a table conversation. And bring on the kiddos I say, great life development. I'm an Old Fashioned Guy and there twist of a Vanilla Infused Bourbon OF was a nice change from the norm My family shared a Lump Crab Roll and a Short Rib Tamalè. Both were delicious. For dinner I enjoyed the Red Deer Tenderloin and it did not disappoint. Cooked as requested, M. R. My wife and I split a Coconut Créme Brûlée with Mango & Passion Fruit. I felt the coconut flavor was a little weak but the consistency was perfect. Our server who's name I fail to remember was a seasoned pro. My daughter sensed a skier in her and she actually skied and is a boarder. The entire wait staff was working as a fine oiled machine assisting each other and working the floor quietly. We had such a great experience at The Kitchen last night. Charmingly modern decor and fun vibe with great music. Excellent service from our male server who was knowledgeable and attentive. GM was also attentive and very interactive throughout the restaurant. Started with a bottle of CA brut Rosé sparkling with a delicious crab cake and perfect, unique elk tataki. Followed up by a super fresh summer salad with feta and berries and the most fabulous halibut dish with a sauce you could drink like soup (too good). Nice restaurant. Definitely recommend reservations --- it was packed when we visited. Good staff but our server had to be prodded to explain the entrees. Other servers did a much better job. Food was good but a bit over salted. The ono was very citrus-ie...should be described more as a ceviche. Although the pork chop was large, it was way over salted. The pork belly app was delicious with great flavor. The dandan duck noodle dish was okay with very little flavor and no sauce. The kitchen was one of the best places we have been. We called a week ahead for an engagement dinner and they were able to accommodate 18 of us. They made the night so special. The gave us a private little room and had a server that was so attentive to us all. The food was amazing and all the drinks were delicious. Again, second night in Jackson, no reservations but we were able to come here and sit in the outdoor yert. Pretty pricey for what you get, but everyone liked everything. We started with the hamachi, which everyone enjoyed. Came with a smoke soy; I don't really like smokey stuff and didn't notice which was good. Also had pistachio, which was a nice touch. Kids had the salmon, which was well cooked. Small portion and they both really liked it. Came with a subtle labneh, the kids didn't love the black lentils, thought they were bland. I went with the tofu bowl, the tofu was sweet and well seasoned, lots of flavor. Rest of items were bland, but not a biggie since the tofu was so flavorful. Service was great. For Jackson Hole, this is a great seafood place. The crudo dishes are amazing and the duck was delicious. I think this is a very Asian influenced joint, and it reminds me a lot of Californian restaurants where easts meets west. The ambience is great. I stayed at the Snow King so walking over to this part of town took about 40 minutes and it's just enough time for one to digest food on the way back. The kitchen has a nice round bar area and the service is super good. Regretfully I did not make the happy hour. It would have been great if we did. If you are missing Californian cuisine and want something that is not just game meat, this place is your spot. read more
