Visited on a Thursday morning, 10am. Full house but only a short wait. However, only half full 30minutes later. Staff and service, ok but nothing special. Food: I had the Eggs Benedict. Eggs were under poached, the sauce and thick upside-down bun were pretty good, the potatoes quite good, the small watermelon slices were fresh. The coffee was not as hot as I preferred. We were out in this area after a nice morning hike and picked this place the night before to try out after the hike. Fun fact, I now know where the Joy Bus Beer hails from. Lol. This is a nice little diner that supports a great cause. Cancer awareness and support. Basically, it is a totally non-profit, and all proceeds go directly to help cancer patients with meals as they recover and go into remission. The diner was spawned from Joy's personal battle with cancer. The owner is a close friend of Joy who came up with this venture to support cancer patients. The chef is also an award winning chef. The meals are rotated from time to time as well. How cool is that? I had the Nashville hot chicken sandwich with tangy slaw. Simply divine. If you can finish it all, you are a trooper. My girl had the classic Belgian waffle with thick cut hickory bacon on the side. It had a mouthwatering appeal. Morgan, our server was very well versed in the menu and kept us entertained with her humor. They also have t-shirts and plants that can be purchased for the cause. What a great spot. We wanted to try someplace new for breakfast so we came here. It's a quaint diner but had enough seating for those coming and leaving. We even stayed longer after finishing our meals and left when the tables became full. The menu has enough options for everyone. I ordered the avocado toast, which comes with a poached egg, arugula, and tomatoes. I added some spice with Cholula and got a side of fruit to balance things out. I enjoyed my food and the prices are so affordable. I love that they are a nonprofit and have a greater mission than just serving people food. Service was great as well, they asked to fill our drinks several times. We also got 10% off for checking in. A note: it's easy to get to from off the 51, but to get back North you need to make a right and then U-turn or turn into a parking lot to go back west. read more

We had friendly, great service- water was brought quickly and our food order was taken as soon as we had made up our minds. Their menu features pretty straight forward solid choices with salads, sandwiches, and burgers, and everything is delicious. Who can turn down the crispy chicken sandwich on butter biscuits? Not me! It was memorable for sure. My dinner mate had the tuna sandwich on 9 grain rye and it was just what she wanted. Great service, not over crowded, the homade chorizo was on point and to top it off you are doing something for a good cause! My husband said over 10 times how good the chorizo omelet was. A shout out to all the friendly staffs here! I think they've got the friendliest staffs in the valley. Super friendly and very caring, it really reflects their values. I had the breakfast burrito, which was okay. The salsa was probably the highlight of the dish. There were little bit of chunks of burnt potatoes or tortilla (idk, I didn't eat it) in the burrito, which was little disappointing. But the taste was good overall. What a nice breakfast we had this morning at the Joy Bus diner. I was expecting awful service since most of the negative reviews brought it up, but we got the complete opposite. We came in pretty early so it wasn't very packed yet but the employees had a big smile on their face and they were very friendly. The restaurant is a little small and there is no sign on the building, but it is to the right of Bootleggers. Hubby ordered the breakfast burrito and I ordered the avocado woods toast. I enjoyed every bite of my toast! It was delicious!! Hubby liked his burrito too. Prices are really inexpensive too, since I'm assuming because they are a not for profit restaurant. Our bill was less than $10!! You do have the option to put an additional donation and since we would probably pay double our bill somewhere else, we decided to match what we would pay somewhere else and give $10 as an additional donation plus tip since our server was all smiles. Overall, I like the cause, the service and the food so I'll be back again shortly. read more

Proceeds go to the Joy Bus charity that delivers free meals to those stricken with cancer and other illness. The atmosphere is cheerful with colorful brightly painted metal chairs and children's paintings on paper bags that are the artwork that adorns the wall. This restaurant serves breakfast and lunch and the prices are very reasonable. I had the power salad with added salmon. ($10.00) My salad came with garbanzo beans that seemed like fresh cooked, lots of sweet small tomatoes, feta cheese, ripe creamy avocado and my added salmon was thin rolls of smoked salmon. My husband had the double patty melt. It was more generous in size than my husband was expecting. They add onions to the beef patties to keep them moister because they serve the patties medium/well. You might have a bit of difficulty finding this restaurant because at the time of this review they don't have a sign over the restaurant. The Joy Bus Diner is in the same strip mall as Bootleggers.
