DO NOT GET THE LEMON CREAM PANCAKES!!! They are so beyond salty. Add in the bacon or sausage on top and it's a salt fest in your mouth. No amount of maple syrup was able to take away the salt from the pancakes. The pancakes were salty, the cream was salty, and the bacon was salty. The only palatable thing were the blueberries. I'm hoping the workers taste their own food because they clearly don't. What a shame because the dish has potential. I didn't completely knock it down to one star because the service was friendly but holy cow the workers here need to taste their food before serving! Because those were the saltiness pancakes I ever had! I came here because it said it was partly owned by the same owner as the gladly and citizen and im a big fan of their food. However the food tastes nothing like those two restaurants here. This restaurant is lucky to have them because it's the only reason I'd come back again to give it another try. I ordered a simple omelette with two burger patties on the side. Not only did I get charged for a meal for the burger patties but the burgers themselves lacked any flavored and honestly was dry. Doesn't look like much when you walk past it but I was hungry and so decided to check this place out. I'm SO GLAD I did because their food is top notch!! Easily one of the best places I've been to for brunch in Phoenix. We got the Chilaquiles and Shakshooka since that was their daily special. Let me tell you that Shakshooka is outta this world! Get it! You will not regret it. The place itself is small, so be prepared to wait especially on the weekend. The service is decent. No complaints there. They are closed for all of July for renovations and deep cleaning but they should be back open in August of this year according to the waitress will definitely be back once they're open! read more

Also menu said waffles were served with fruit...two thin slices of orange was all it came with. I'd prefer a chain like Black Bear Diner to this place. They gave us a $5 off coupon but I left it at the table because I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here. I do not recommend this place. I like the fact they give back to cancer patients but the food at this location is not real healthy. The drinks are laced with high Fructose Corn Syrup. My friends and I all tried different things and shared them all. Everyone liked the pancakes we got it without the added powdered sugar on top. The lemon curd was way too sweet for my liking. I would say that luck brought me to The Joy Bus Diner, but that would be an understatement. I am a very recent widow and, when I discovered the Joy Bus Diner's mission, I knew I had to come. This place was for me. I persuaded 3 friends to join me on what I called a Sunday brunch food adventure. We didn't know what to expect. It was perfect: Full and bustling client, strangers willing to become future friends. The entire diner cheered when it was announced that a server had just given birth, patrons jumped to look at the phone. The patrons knew the server's name. Truly a community place. When I was overcome with tears of recent grief, the manager consoled and comforted me. Two ladies held my hands. The food was plentiful and delicious. I had the eggs Benedict with a side of toasted potatoes. Everything is cooked to order. Fresh squeezed orange juice ! I found the portion here to be quite large...and being used to living in high COL area, the very reasonable bill was also nice. We got a burrito and Green Chilies and Steak Benedict sandwich and I thought the food was just ok. They were a little bland though..but hey... because the ideal purpose of how this restaurant go started...I bumped the rating up a star. Personally..it's a great place to come and support your community. First time trying out the Joybus Diner. The ambiance was nice, the servers were friendly, but that's where it ended. I ordered the cheeseburger because the waitress said I wouldn't be disappointed. This is where it turned to not so good. The burger came out and I noticed blood dripping down the side. About half of my burger was raw. There was also no seasoning whatsoever on the burger. The bun was also very thick. Bun to burger ratio was terrible. The fries were also underwhelming and the ketchup was overly sweet. Service was a bit on the slow side. Not sure if I'll be returning, but that burger is a complete no go. read more

After visiting a string of mediocre breakfast places lately, we finally make the adventure into the Joy Bus Diner. The glowing reviews led us to have decent expectations and we were excited to try it out. We arrived around 10:45am on a Saturday and while business was steady, it wasn't overcrowded by any means. Once you walk in, the space isn't huge but it has a very cute kind of diner/cafe feel. There was a sign saying to "sign in" and wait to be seated. There's a list where you can write your name and number of people. I assume this is here to make sure first come, first served. We were seated at a two top and promptly greeted and given menus. They have a little card on each table that explains the diner and it's origin. It's a non profit that delivers meals to cancer patients, what a great cause! They have a board in the corner on the same wall as the entrance that lists specials, definitely take a peek before you order. My partner ordered raspberry lemonade which wasn't on the menu but was listed as a special. It was quite tasty! I went with their iced tea which was green tea that day. As for the food, we ordered the chicken and waffles and the 2 eggs and pancake breakfast. The chicken and waffles were a HUGE portion size and came with butter and syrup. The chicken was absolutely amazing... the chickens strips coating had a great flavor the chicken wasn't dry and was delicious. The waffle was basic but the flavor combo together was spot on. Recommend if you love chicken! I got scrambled eggs and bacon (sausage also an option) with my 2 egg breakfast. Additionally, it came with 2 pancakes, potatoes and toast. It came with butter, jam and syrup. The potatoes were awesome... just crisp enough and delicious. The scrambled eggs were some of the best eggs we've tried from breakfast joints. The bacon was amazing as well. The pancakes were basic but overall it was a filling and tasty breakfast. Our server was super nice, as was everyone else working. You really do get the sense they all like doing what they do and support the cause. Really nice environment and fantastic breakfast. I can't wait to come back and try their lunch fare. When you receive the check, you have the option to add an additional donation before you are cashed out and asked for a tip. Overall, they have a great breakfast here! I am in love w this place! Just went for the first time because we were craving a good breakfast. We walked in, were instantly greeted w a friendly smile, and were sat immediately. The atmosphere is very true diner-ish, w cute chairs, dishes, decor, etc. Our waitress was great, very friendly and attentive. All the staff were joking w each other and w the other diners, it was a fun place w great 80s jams playing in the background. I had the Make Your Own omelette w all the veggies (bell pepper, onion, tomato, jalapeño, arugula, and spinach) and added chorizo. It was sooooo good!! Cheesy, the chorizo was great, the omelette was fluffy...sooo good!! We also ordered the two eggs breakfast that came w two eggs, toast, potatoes, and bacon.
