I am sorry but I can't recommend Frank for Home Theater systems. Perhaps he isn't that familiar with AV/Home Theater? He should have told us if he didn't know how to do the job, but here is what happened: He came over, looked over our problem, my husband explained that we had no idea how to fix the problem. None. We are clueless when it comes to these things. My husband also told him that someone else set it all up for us. (Note: The person who set up our home theater system is highly knowledgeable and our work is really too small for him but he did us a favor basically and then he was gone - onto bigger jobs). Frank gave my husband a quote via email (I think). It was quite high but we thought since he said he'd have to un-do everything and start from scratch that we better do that in case we had issues in the future and we could learn this time how to fix it or to call Frank back out. The morning he came to do the job he asked my husband a bunch of questions about the system. My husband told him that he didn't know the answers. We don't, that's why we have to hire people. Again, someone else set it up and did not leave instructions. Meanwhile, my husband had to take work calls. I was in another room. When we both went to check on Frank, HE WAS GONE. No goodbye, no kiss my ass, no nothing. Just left. My husband thought perhaps he left to go get something for the job but nope, he didn't, he just walked out without a word. We know this because my husband got him on the phone and he said he wasn't going to do the job but didn't say why. The right thing to do is say "I can't do it", "I don't like you", whatever. Recently my wife's laptop crashed. I spent a full day troubleshooting and could not get a reasonable conclusion. I found Frank here on Yelp while searching for a technology professional that could properly diagnose a variety of problems plaguing my wife's business computer. I allowed Frank to remote in and he quickly diagnosed the issues, in short, the issues she was dealing with were not generally fixable so the decision was made to buy her a new computer. On any given day I find many legitimate professional computer techs do a pretty good job and know the work. Yet, I'd rate many at three. My reason is, when one sets themselves up as a professional, the basic standards of performance at the very least are accurate estimates, a reasonable statement of exceptions should something more in the chain occur. Timely work, and the patience to firmly yet warmly handle a freaked out client who thinks the world is ending being off line for a few hours. That may sound funny, but true, and we all know that one. Kidding aside, the basic standard of all elements must be factory level or close. If not, what is the point? The higher numbers of 4 or 5 represent the exceptional, the individual skill and abilities of the tech, which often cannot be quantified. I had a massive crash, and I took my machine into a professional shop. The fix was surface level and i had some serious problems post the fix. My confidence was low on the shop's technical expertise to produce solid work. Looking for an other tech in the area, I stumbled across the 'IT Professionals..' The work environment was absolutely clean. The initial estimate was very reasonable. When a secondary issue arose, I did not say, but it had been in my thoughts that it may occur. They added it in and still the estimate was reasonable. When finished, the work was excellent and the bill was actually less than I thought it would be I had quite a few questions about function, as I am new to system ten. I think my questions may have seemed endless, but the individual who handled my issue, Frank, was patient, and altogether I received more value then I thought I'd ever get walking into a tech shop for the first time, meeting a man whom I did not know, or ever met previously or knew anyone who knew him. I finally got around to raising the praise for The IT Professionals. I can not say enough. This is what happened. I took my computer to another computer repair business. In order to save the data on my sick computer the data was put on an external drive. They installed a new hard drive, I think (smile) and I was given directions on how to open the documents and transfer to the new hard drive.
