I worked at Microsoft for 8 years in many roles and have built my own rigs from the ground up since 1998. That said I know a thing or two about PCs. I live in Seattle, but my Dad lives in Long Beach. I called all over LA and Orange county looking for a Computer repair shop and finally found Error Code and met Jeremiah. So glad I did! Jeremiah built my Dad an amazing PC. We were looking for something with speed and reliability for just under $1k and got exactly that. You click and instantly your application is open and ready. Finally My Dad will experience a real speed demon (desktop) instead of those throw away Dell and gateway laptops he's been plagued with issues on all these years. Jeremiah went above and beyond. He came out to my Dad's place and installed the PC and arranged, hid and labelled all the wires under his desk (I never asked for that he just did it). He said he doesn't usually do house calls but in this rare occasion it had to be done because even though my Dad is a retired mechanical engineer he struggles with computers. I strongly recommend contacting Error Code for your PC issues. On two separate occasions, Justin quickly diagnosed the problem (two separate ones) with my old/customized PC. He even upgraded my (by PC standards) ancient graphics card with a slightly-more-modern one, free of charge. The topper was, he wasn't even going to charge me for all this! IMHO, since it's dishonorable to have work performed on one's behalf for nothing, I just gave him all the $1 bills I had in my wallet both times, to at least pay for lunch or something. Two tips for patrons: (1) the shop itself is easy to miss; it's at the end of a rather dilapidated mini-strip-center right beside a car wash; and, (2) if you're bringing your PC in, I'd advise calling first to ensure that Justin will be there when you bring it in. read more

The guys working at Error Code PC were very friendly, respectful, and funny with me, but also very knowledgeable about computers. Dennis went to great lengths to figure out what was wrong with my laptop (hp computer had a bad motherboard and the screen would not turn on anymore). They gave me options on what I could do with my laptop, I told them that I needed to sleep on it, and lent me one of their laptops for free because I had homework I needed to work on. They really went above and beyond to help me during my bad laptop situation. Sadly, I ended up having to get a new laptop because fixing my old one was going to be about $300 for parts and labor, but the guys at Error Code PC did all they could to help me. My laptop crashed on me yesterday so I looked up computer repair on yelp and found these guys just down the street from me and with 5 stars. Now when I say crashed, the computer wouldn't do anything. One friend told me it was the motherboard, the other the harddrive, another a boot sector. Too many opinions from friends so I decided to get professional help. Dennis was very friendly and helped me right away. Unfortunately he discovered that my harddrive is toast. He spent some time helping me decide whether I want to replace the hard drive and upgrade my 4 year old laptop to Windows 7 (because Vista was causing me all sorts of problems even when the laptop was new) and get a new battery to replace the currently very dead battery. In the end it was more economical to just buy another cheapo laptop. I felt bad for taking up his time but he didn't charge me a dime for the diagnosing the problem. When GPS guided me to the doorstep of Error Code, I was somewhat put off by an older row of offices that haven't been updated in years. Then I was greeted by Nicole, the nice lady with whom I spoke to over the phone, who gave me hope that the nuclear wipe out solution of my hard drive could possibly be averted. Found this place on Yelp but somehow missed the Yelp deal :( took my laptop in when the power jack stopped working. They ordered the part and fixed it within a few days. The part was 20 and the labor 80 but it was cheaper than a new laptop and so far i wasn't really having any problems with my laptop. A few weeks after that (2/2), my laptop shuts down on me out of nowhere and won't charge anymore. I take it back and they offer to take my laptop apart again and make sure it wasn't an issue with the work they did the first time. Unfortunately it seemed to be an issue with the motherboard and they recommended getting a new laptop instead. I'd definitely go back to them.
