Only the service was good. I ordered a hamburger, medium rare, and fries. I asked for a slice of onion. The food was served and I dressed my hamburger and took my first bite. I could not believe its lack of taste. I dipped my first fry and took a bite. My only conclusion is that it was dipped into the boiling oil for five seconds and then served. Awful. I really wanted to like this place, especially since it was my first visit and we were celebrating a dear friend's 90th birthday--but the experience left me frustrated. Whenever I dine out while trying to watch portions, I ask the kitchen to split my meal: half served, half boxed to go. It's a simple request that most restaurants handle without issue. Tonight, I ordered a Reuben sandwich. While it tasted good, the portion was surprisingly small--honestly more like a kids meal than an adult entrée--with only three french fries on the plate. Unfortunately, the "to-go" half was just as underwhelming. For a $21 sandwich, I expected a more reasonable portion to begin with. What really added insult to injury were the extra charges: $0.75 for additional dressing and another $0.75 just to box the second half of my own meal. Then came the final surprise--a 3% fee for using a credit card. I also have to mention that, given we were celebrating a 90th birthday, it was disappointing there wasn't even a small complimentary dessert or acknowledgment from the restaurant to help make the occasion feel special. I want to be clear that our server was pleasant and attentive, and this wasn't a reflection on their service. I typically start my tipping at 20% and adjust up or down based on the experience. In this case, I ended up reducing the tip to offset the 3% credit card fee and the $1.50 in added charges, which unfortunately put a damper on things. Between the small portions, added fees, and lack of any special touch for such a milestone celebration, it felt like the experience missed the mark--especially on a night that was meant to be memorable. Stopped here for a drink and soup on a cold snowy night, so glad I did! Sat at the bar and was waited on immediately. The bartender recommended their holiday drinks, so I went with the Hot Toady - such a nice warm drink for this time of year. Really enjoyed the look of the bar and decorations. Very cozy vibes. Stopped by after a mountain hike with our three dogs. The place was very dog friendly and let us hangout on their patio. It has a perfect view of the mountains. The waitress was really nice even though our table got a little chaotic with the dogs. She was very professional, patient and came by frequently. We ordered a Caesar salad to share. The portion was great and they split it in two plates. The salad was fresh, the croutons were crispy, and the dressing was tangy. The burger was the absolute best thing we ordered. It was delicious. They ask you at what temperature you'd like it cooked. The meat was super juicy. The bacon was thick and delicious. Then again can you really mess up bacon? Had a mimosa carafe and fries to go along with the meal. Delicious too. If you're in the area and want a burger, visit this casual relaxed place. It will not disappoint. read more

I ordered the "House " burger medium and after a long wait it arrived overcooked and dry - too much cooking even if I had ordered one well done. Somehow the grease ended up in the bun which was so soggy may hands got greasy from holding it. What a gem in Boulder! This pub is an institution according to locals, and now we definitely see why! First off, the ambience is wonderful. This place is a perfect replica of a genuine Pub in the UK. I loved all the little decor "touches" that made it feel even more so. There is a bar area but also plenty of seating inside. The food was incredible! I ordered the shepherds pie and was so glad I did. Flavorful, hot, and a HUGE serving at that. It is definitely enough to feed two. Even the veggies were to die for - spinach was not overly cooked, just lightly wilted, and the sweet potato was perfect and so flavorful! My husband got a burger and it was wonderfully cooked, slightly smoky, and a great portion size. Service was average, but food came out fast!! It's a nice enough place. My son and I went there after going to a local dog park. Where are some wings and a Reuben funny thing they actually served the wings to the table behind us who promptly ate those wings and then got up left and it wasn't really for about another 10 minutes that we thought Maybe those were our wings that went to those assholes that ate them and left so the wings are pretty good, and the Reuben was really good and every time I eat one of these pub places I forget that chips means fries so it's a good little neighborhood place. Came in one afternoon during our three week trip through Colorado with our dog. There's a side patio area and they were very welcoming. They were in the middle of a shift change but we were promptly seated and our dog was brought a menu and a bowl of water. I had the Ruben sandwich, which I am always afraid to order, (yes, even at an Irish pub) but the menu said the corned beef was cured in house, so, I took the chance. Tender, not fatty, and as juicy as any corned beef could be. Probably one of the better Rubens I have ever had. Our server, Cori-Ann, was friendly and polite. My dear friend was highly recommending this place as it is close to her apartment. I was in town on business, so I figured I'd have a meal here with her before returning home. The Hungry Toad is a traditional-style British pub that is easy to miss. Our server was Margot, and she was a clear example of 5-star service. I had in mind to try one of their imported beers from England. They ran out mid-pour so she gave me what was in the glass. It was about a third. She only billed me when she gave me a full glass. I decided to keep it simple with two items from their happy hour menu. The French onion soup was not as salty as other variants I've had. The poutine was excellent. Can't complain. My friend was quite pushy about their mud pie. Turns out, it didn't disappoint! Chocolatey crust with what I take to be ice cream as the filling. We Love The Toad! They have an amazing Ruben & the Sheppard's Pie is one of my favorite. One MASSIVE recommendation though which is very concerning. You can't call your "Full English Breakfast" by that name if you don't have Black & White...or at least just Black Pudding. So that's just a tidbit. Either change that name or make it proper. We had Piper serve us and she was delightful. She never forgot about us even though we were the only ones on the patio. My husband got avocado toast with an egg on top and he enjoyed it. I got a house salad with chicken and it was a little dry but I asked for extra salad dressing and that did the trick. Drinks pictured are the Bloody Mary which my husband said was the best he's had in a while, and a chai mocktail which was good but tasted strongly of cherries which isn't my favorite (I suspect almond extract ;). As a British-themed pub, you'd think the one thing on a permanent menu that they should get right is fish and chips! Not difficult! It was barely edible. The cod fish was mushy, and undercooked, the batter coating was overcooked and greasy. Incredibly disappointing. The waitperson was rather flippant. My partner had the steak sandwich, and the bread was grilled to oblivion. The only redeeming part of the meal was the French fries. Disappointing, won't return. read more

Our server Bee was very sweet :) Ordered the "Red Eye" medium temp, burger was kinda charred on the outside and honestly lacked flavor. I asked if there would be lettuce tomato onion, I was told yes and so I requested light onions... there was not - nor was there any of the LTO. Just the burger patty, bacon, egg, and cheese. Fries were fine and so were the wings. It could have just been my experience, I doubt the burger is normally like that. Oh yes, AND I had the happy hour wedge salad, I really enjoyed that part actually!!! The guy with the man bun who was working the front was also very kind.
