I got mine in their Laksa Curry Noodle Soup, but you can also get it in Massaman Curry or Biryani Rice. Other meat options include chicken, pork ribs, or roasted vegetables. Their Massaman Curry has a nice sweetness to it, and it pairs nicely with the roti they serve with it. For starters, they have a great Nem Nuong Fresh Roll with Vietnamese grilled pork sausage and a tasty Sweet Ginger Tamarind Sauce for dipping. 4.5 stars I saw this kitchen on the Yelp page and am intrigued. I'm just really busy, so decided to try it via delivery. Out of the four items, three of them tasted very delicious. Especially like the Massaman Chicken Curry, the Tea Leaf salad, and the Chicken Satay Ayam. The Massaman chicken skin has a spicy kick to it and definitely flavorful. Comes with jasmine rice and some roti. Really appreciate that they separately packed the Massaman curry on the side. I reheated the curry sauce in a pan before serving. The tea leaf salad is my favorite, so fresh and flavorful. I like that they packaged the tea leaf dressing on the side so the salad is still crispy and fresh when we got it. The chicken satay Ayam came with a brioche bun (hubby's pick). Very generous on the chicken skewers (4 of them) and delicious. Comes with a cucumber salad that I didn't try because he inhaled it. And a chunky peanut dipping sauce. The pork nem-nuong fresh roll (also hubby's pick) doesn't seem to travel well. It also doesn't seem to go well together either as all ingredients seems cold and harden by todays weather and distance traveled. I am not fond of the dipping sauce as it's way too sweet. I feel that this dish may be better if eaten almost immediately after they make it. Overall, pretty satisfying meal. I definitely will try more of their Massaman curries with different proteins and their tea leaf salad again. read more

Wow! The Hidden Bistro is a ghost kitchen that dishes out tasty food. There wasn't a storefront sight or restaurant identification when you arrive. Just make sure you're at the correct building number. I saw people walking out with a pizza box and other types of packaged food. I preordered and got my food delivered to my car. The person was nice and said they tried to keep the food warm (I was late for my pickup). I can't not say enough how smart the food was packaged. There were no leaks! I got home and the food was still warm! They flavors were bright but not too strong or spicy. I love spice and spicy so next time I will ask to bump it up. Tea leaf salad: Wow! I really loved the fermented tea leaves. It was more like spinach and not too funky. It was vegetarian so no dried shrimps or fish sauce was used. Veggie Biryani: The tamarind sauce that came with this dish was so good. They were generous with the portion of food and I the veggies were cooked really well. I'm not talking overcooked mush, but texture and crunch heaven. Massaman Roasted Vegetable Curry: Oooooo this was comforting and warm. I would order this again with more sliced chili peppers ;) The coconut rice was exceptional. This is a rich dish that went well with the perfectly cooked vegetables. Wow! 5 stars! First time I took a chance to order through Doordash for a restaurant that has no storefront and boy was I not disappointed! I don't normally use these delivery services because they take a big cut from that little businesses. But this was only way to get food for my lunch. Plus my boss was nice enough to pay for my lunch from a place that deliver, so I chose something different from the typical foods my coworkers got. I do hope they open a real store front and I can go in person and sit down at a restaurant. But wow the presentation was right on, looks great and the sauce had great flavors with some sweet potatoes chunks in it. I really, really like this dish. I would love to order it again for a special occasion. There is also couple of peanuts in the sauce for those who may be allergic to peanuts. Chicken thigh and drumstick was fall off the bone which was great! That's how you know the stew is good! Finger licking good! There is probably a way for me to order pickup too, besides delivery. I just need to study the app better and use maps to found out how to get there. This is my first time getting The Hidden Bistro for lunch through my workplace lunch system called Forkable. I thought the concept was very interesting because they operate out of a ghost kitchen and focus on bringing Thai, Vietnamese and Burmese dishes! All cuisines with strong flavors. I ordered the Massaman Chicken Curry ($14.95) which consists of Slow Cook Chicken Leg, Coconut Base Curry, Roasted Peanut, Sweet Potato, Onion, Ginger Strip, Cilantro, Fresno Chili, Fried Shallot and Roti. Honestly, I had zero expectations but it really surprised me! The chicken was sooo juicy and tender. The curry itself had such great flavors although be warned it is a little on the sweeter side. I ordered the massaman beef short rib curry and the laksa curry chicken noodle soup. The massaman curry is sweet and flavorful. The short rib is amazing; the meat is tender and the portion is big too. The laksa soup is well balanced, not too heavy. The chicken was cooked well too. Delicious! Hidden bistro is a ghost kitchen and markets itself as a southeast Asian restaurant. However, it's definitely more Thai than any other southeast Asian country. I picked up my food on a Thursday night from the ghost kitchen itself. The kitchen is located in an industrial/warehouse area and can seem intimidating at night. So bring a friend if driving through alone. I tried the pork veggie roll, massamam chicken curry and the pork rib laksa. The roll was delicious and might be my favorite dish - it has great texture and the peanut sauce was yummy. The massamum curry was on the sweet side and the laksa was more of a curry broth. They were all delicious tho. The meats were definitely very well done. Will definitely be back to try the other dishes on the menu. Definitely worth the try. read more

It's my first time there and it was packed at the end of a dead end block, so be cautious parking in the back cause I almost got blocked in by all the people waiting for their food (there's lots of vendors operating out of here I believe). My food came out safely stapled in a bag and was still hot when I got home after a 30 minute car ride :) We ordered: - Nem Nuong Fresh Roll $9.95 - usually order this from vietnamese restaurants and this one was comparably yummy! Comes with 6 small pieces and a nice crunch - Chicken Satay Ayam $14.95 - comes with 4 skewers and buns and a yummy peanut dipping sauce - Tea Leaf Salad $14.95 - yummy and fresh tea leaf salad I usually order from Burmese restaurants - Massaman Beef Short Rib Curry $19.95 - this is one of my faves from here! The flavors are soo flavorful and the short rib was tender and fall off the bone. I loved this curry sauce! - Laksa Curry Pork Rib Noodle Soup $15.95 - this was a yummy noodle soup and the pork was tasty. It comes with way ramen noodles which are my fave type and reminds me of the authentic japanese noodles you get when ordering ramen from authentic japanese restaurants - Chicken Biryani Rice $14.95 - this one was another fave for me! We ordered thru Grubhub & got the delivery really fast. All the food were nicely packed & we command the restaurant for making the takeout presentation look really nice & appetizing. Unfortunately the food fell a bit short. We ordered Tea Leaf Salad, Pork rib Biriyani Rice, Vietnamese Garlic noodle with Tiger Prawns , & Cucumber Salad. The Tea Leaf Salad did not taste like what we're used to or expect. Missing the traditional fermented tea leaf flavor, acidity, & spice. Pork rib Biriyani Rice had some tender ribs but nondescript flavor, definitely needed the dipping sauce. The biriyani didn't have any onions or peppers or the mix of spices that's the norm. The rice was more like curry fired rice & some of the rice were crunchy. Vietnamese Garlic noodle with Tiger Prawns used ramen noodles without any butter, so it came out pretty dry like the prawns. The flavor of the noodle was also very strange, not much garlic, but quite a bit of a very strange funky unpleasant shrimpy flavor. Lastly, the Cucumber salad was not too bad. It did need some carrots, red onions, & some acidity. Would we try them again? Sure, maybe in a few months. read more

This place exceeded expectations. It's a take out place in a warehouse at the end of Charter oaks off of Industrial Blvd. We ordered from them twice this week. Ordering is easy. When you get to the warehouse, there are takeout kitchens for several restaurants, and many have check-in portals on the iPads in the lobby. this restaurant does not have a check in portal, but don't fret, they text and come out with your food promptly. We tried the biryani with pork, the masamun curry, the tea leaf salad, the vermicelli salad, and the lahksa. They were all excellent, and the flavors were all different, so nothing seemed redundant. My personal favorite is the lahksa. I haven't tried to find this dish around the Bay area, and the last time I had it was in Singapore, but this version is super tasty with the right amount of heat. The pork version and the short rib version were both excellent with a generous portion of meat. The biryani comes with a citrusy minty chutney that ads sweetness and brightness to the rice. Again, super tasty and a nice counter point the to lahksa. The curry was a little less complex, and a bit sweet, but I liked it as well. The two salads were a surprise - both excellent in flavor and again, complex and tasty. Night time pickup did feel a little sketchy, but there were a lot of people coming and going, so it's not as isolated as it could be. Totally worth the trip. read more

Excellent food with nice presentation! We ordered the Laksa Chicken Curry Noodle Soup and the Vietnamese Grilled Pork Sausage with Vermicelli Noodles. I received a text notification just as I was pulling up to the pick up location. There were a lot of cars parked out front but it's a dead end street so quick parking was not a problem. Inside the building, I initially started to use one of the tablets that said "check in" and scrolled for The Hidden Bistro, but I did not see it listed. The pick up location houses numerous restaurants' food for pick up. Then I actually read the full text and saw that I just needed to reply by text or phone call to let them know I was there. (I tell my students to read carefully and obviously I need to listen to my own advice.) A friendly woman came out a door with my order and handed it to me. Everything was correct and when I got home, the food was hot and perfect! Portion sizes are good and the packaging is compostable or recyclable. The laksa was a bit spicy, which is the way it should be! It was creamy and very flavorful. The Vietnamese pork sausage dish was a salad with lots of meat and fresh veggies & excellent as well. The only thing that I was dissatisfied about was that I requested no utensils or napkins and they packed plastic forks & spoons in napkins. Oh no! I have utensils at home.
