Egg foo yung over rice
Hansel F.

This place is a 24th street gem! The name of the restaurant skewed my perception at first but this Chinese restaurant is something special. When you enter, you feel the welcoming energy and vibe. They have a cool bar area which the locals must love to sit at. I chose a corner table and was helped promptly upon arrival. I was craving egg foo yung with rice and this place did not disappoint. I liked the Punjab special because it includes shrimp, pork, and chicken.. a loaded combination. The gravy was also a nice touch and brought an amazing flavor. They have so many items on the menu, I would love to try more dishes next time. This place is great for families, friends, or a nice quiet meal alone. Ps. Great portion sizing!

Great service and food here for lunch today. Pork fried rice combination entree with pork lo mien was quite good; very happy to also get a bowl of Egg Drop Soup with it. Beef chow fun is also good as well. Take out can easily be under $20 per head if you live near by and for the portions they give it's very good for your buck. Restaurant dine in is good too - their searing area is spacious and their high ceilings are a nice touch. Would come again!

We got some takeout food. We wanted something more homemade so we canceled Panda Express to get food here- we should have gone to panda, better food and cheaper.

You don't know SF if you've never been to Punjab. The food does. not. miss. The mission might be known for Latin food but this place is a gem. Can't go wrong with anything - the Pho is big enough to feed 2 very hungry people. The family style dinner options they offer are incredible value. Haven't met a plate here that I don't like. The service is stupendous. Same person everyday. They have a countertop bar if you want to come alone, especially recommended on a rainy day.

Wonton Soup, Combo

This was one of my mom's favorite places to go growing up. I remember coming here for lunches and dinners with family for Chinese Food. It was inexpensive and gave you a lot of food for the cost. Well, I'm here to say that they are still pretty inexpensive (comparatively) and you still get a huge portion for the price. Although it's not fancy, unique or gourmet - the food is delicious and served up quickly. My coworkers and I come here frequently for the "soup". They have a pretty large selection of Chinese soups, as well as Pho. They have quite the menu that spans different cuisines, so there is something for everyone. My favorite is the rare beef pho with meatballs, I get the rare beef on the side. The wonton soup is also very good and a large portion. Service is friendly and they always seem to remember our group, we order right away and within a few minutes, delivered hot to the table.

Sesame Tofu and Veggie Chow Mein

Favorite is the sesame tofu. But lots of great items and wonderful vegetarian options. Can't wait till they reopen!

Egg Flower Soup comes with rice plate.

The place looks closed because of the plywood in front of the building covering the damage from a car that crashed into the restaurant but they're still open on their usual schedule. At the server's suggestion, I had the sesame chicken rice plate with soup for around $12 which is a good price for this area of the mission which has been getting more expensive even before inflation. Might have to order the general cho's chicken next time since they don't serve that as a rice plate and it's a little more expensive. If there was one thing that might have made this 5stars, maybe if the rice plate came with an egg roll or even a crab Rangoon filled with fake crab and cream cheese. Some small appetizer for a little palate cleanser might have done it. Still a very good meal and hopefully they're able to get the front fixed soon.

Ordered takeout online and it was ready, hot and delicious! My only thing was the lighting in the restaurant. Seemed a little too dark for me but the cooks could see because the food was good!

Dumplings there's 4. Freshly made yummm

It was a cold and cloudy day a few days before Christmas. I was looking for something good and hot. Being in the Mission district down on 24th I was thinking Mexican would be the spot. But who would've guessed that this Chinese Vietnamese restaurant had what I Needed. I was greeted by staff and offered options. I agreed to try there Pho and later I saw there advertisement for freshly made dumplings, which I couldn't resist. I'm so glad I did. They are so fresh that they tell you it may take 10-15 minutes but it's worth the wait. Come by and enjoy this bicultural world of foods. PS I didn't take pics a Pho cause I was really hungry

Good Chinese food for a restaurant named after an Indian restaurant. It's hard to find a good authentic Chinese restaurant in the mission

San Tung - Original Dry Fried Chicken ($20/12)

And if it's chicken wings your soul is screaming for, let's be honest: there isn't a single place in this town that can compete with San Tung. This recipe? It's completely off the hook. It is sweet, it is tangy, and it is utterly, shamelessly irresistible to the human tongue. It completely defies the pedestrian flavors that everyone else in this city is pushing. This isn't just food; it's a lifestyle choice. It's my drug of choice. What you've got here is a beautiful, bastardized combination of Chinese and Korean BBQ engineering. But let's get one thing straight: the secret isn't some mythical blend of eleven herbs and Chinese spices. No, it boils down to something far more primal: the type of chicken that San Tung purchases. They are looking for something very specific--the precise age, the exact size of the bird. And that? That is something they will absolutely never share with you. Like the formula for Coca-Cola, they guard that secret with a beautiful, paranoid intensity. Now, the people I really miss in this room are Charles and his wife. They split off from this sit-down paradise years ago and carved out their own gig right next door--San Tung 2. They took the crown and put themselves on the map for those wings. It was a beautiful, tightly run family affair--full-on mafia style. Whatever traffic drove through this side of town, they weren't here for the scenery; they were here for the wings. ST2 might be gone now, but the dream? The dream continues to thrive right here. So whenever that craving hits, do yourself a favor. Make your way over to this room. You'll thank me later.

After hearing countless people swear on their lives on San Tung's wings, I finally had a chance to…read moregrab them the last time I was in SF. I popped by about 15 mins before opening on a Friday and a short line quickly formed behind me. I'd say you probably don't need to wait though if you show up before 6PM. The real hack to skip the wait might honestly be to call in your order though as many to-go orders were bagged up by the time the doors opened. Dry Fried Chicken Wings: These are great don't get me wrong, but I'm not sure if I'd wait in a crazy line to pick these up. The wings themselves are on the smaller side, but pretty juicy and nicely cooked. The sauce is really quite sweet on the sweet savory scale and the sugar almost crystallizes on the fried skin to make for an ultra thick, satisfying crust. TLDR: skip the line by ordering ahead or arriving early. The wings are very very solid.

We got seated right by the window, so lovely! The ambiance is so nice and the decor is so cozy and cool. We got the free peanuts and cucumber salad first- so flavorful and a nice way to whet our appetite. The scallop vermicelli was SO buttery and flavorful. I wanted another order!! The claypot rice came steaming hot and full of meats! Get something to cut it with! The black bean clams were delicious but a tad salty so it's nice to have with the claypot, or even an order of veggies and plain rice! We ended our meal with shaved ice that was layered with black bean, custard, and boba! So refreshing and a perfect end! I would come back 10000%

Anyway, having tried it, I can say it was good, but not so good that I'd expend that much energy to secure the reservation. Have to say, service was really great. Servers were attentive without being overbearing, which is always welcome. We ordered several dishes and dined, as they suggested, family style. To start, we were given two complimentary dishes, the roasted peanuts and the smashed cucumbers; both were nice appetizers. We ordered the Chiu Chow green beans, the Mongolian beef noodles, the claypot rice with lop cheung and bacon, the salt 'n peppa prawns, and the whole fried petrale sole, the last two being on the day's "specials" board. The winning dish was definitely the green beans. All the food was good, but seemed to be a bit overly salted and highly spiced. The piece of beef I had from the Mongolian beef noodles was tender, but one of my friends thought her piece was a bit tough and too chewy; we all thought the beef could have been cut into smaller or thinner pieces. We also shared two desserts since it was a birthday celebration (there are only three options offered). We had the red bean shaved ice and the mango pudding. Both were good (not "oh, boy, yummy" good, but good). Nice to try. The price wasn't outrageous ($200 including tax and tip), but I think this will be a "been there, done that" experience for me unless a friend absolutely wants to go again.

As soon as we walked in, we were greeted by one of the owners, Eugene. He was super friendly, welcoming, and focused on making sure we got seated. His hospitality genuinely can't be beaten anywhere; he immediately made us feel like family. Thankfully, a couple of tables were finishing up their checks, and he had us seated in no time. We ordered the wonton noodle soup, seafood fried noodles, and garlic Chinese spinach, and the food came out fast! Everything tasted great, and unlike so many restaurants nowadays that serve individual-sized portions under the guise of "family style," 606's portions are huge and wonderfully generous. Wonton Noodle Soup: The broth was flavorful without being overly salty, and the wontons were packed with plump, tender shrimp--they definitely don't skimp on ingredients! Seafood Fried Noodles: Executed perfectly with just the right amount of savory sauce so the noodles retained that satisfying crispy, crunchy texture. Garlic Chinese Spinach: Cooked just right--not too soft and not undercooked. I'm so glad we came back to sit down and dine in. Not only do Eugene and his team make you feel right at home, but the food is fantastic, hearty, and full of heart. Highly recommend!
