Combo sandwich with a VN ice coffee.
    Justin L.

Without wasting time, I'm just going to to straight into it. Nice service but the food is not very authentic. With this location, they're for office people or people that work around there. I'm Vietnamese so I can tell you that their sandwiches can be a lot better, even their VN coffee is not authentic (not bitter and strong enough). BTW, I got my food really fast that mean it was being prepared ahead already (not fresh).

Damn! Don't sleep on this spot if you are looking for a bomb Banh-Mi!! Came here at 9am (don't judge me) for a Sammy, the meat was hella juicy n there's something extra about this one. Not sure, but it was on the juicier side. I need to try it at least 3 more times to figure this one out!!! I'll be back fashoo

I feel bad for leaving a bad review since so many of you left 5 stars. I was inclined to leave a 1 star review because I couldn't even eat my sandwich. I had to dissect the sandwich and just eat the bread. What the hell went wrong with this sandwich? Did I get the wrong kind? I ordered the combination and it tasted like layers and layers of cardboard. There wasn't enough pate to make it tasty and the cold meats were flavorless and hard. The carrots weren't marinated so it tasted like rough shredded carrots. I've never had to eat a Vietnamese sandwich the way I did and I felt it was a waste of $11. So disappointed.

Not sure why anyone is complaining about $9.25 for a banh mi when it's delicious and stuffed with protein. A basic turkey sandwich is $10.50 at Gus's--a stacked banh mi for $9.25 (in this economy!!) is generous. Walked in at 4pm on a Wednesday and it was super quiet, but I hope it doesn't stay that way! The tofu banh mi I got was flavorful and loaded with goodness, the bread crusty without being too stiff. Just right. It's not the most gourmet thing you'll ever eat, but if you want a fancy banh mi then go to Wooly Pig and get their $15 one, or buy two here for almost the same price. The man behind the counter was very friendly, and he got our sandwiches done pretty quickly. Great spot for a quick, convenient bite.

Finally a new banh mi and Vietnamese food shop in the neighborhood! They took over the old nail salon space. They just opened on 9/27/22. When I came by around 4:40pm they said they had sold out of things and to come by the next day, which I did. They are open M-F 9-5pm and may possibly extend to Saturdays. The gentleman taking my order, I assume is the owner was very friendly. We came by around 10am and ordered a special combination banh mi and a grilled pork banh mi. Both at $9.25 each. It looked like mom and sis or wifey was helping out. They also offer a few other Vietnamese dishes such as: egg rolls, fresh spring rolls, vermicelli noodle bowls, pho, salad and drinks. Note this is only for take out, there is no seating area. The special combination only contained 2 kinds of meats and they use store bought mayo rather than homemade. I would've liked more pate in mine, luckily I had some at home to add myself. They have a toaster oven but my bread wasn't toasted, it was cold. The bread itself was ok. Didn't stand out from other banh mi shops in the city. For the grilled pork banh mi, the meat was tender and I liked the marinade. The bread for it was toasty. The owner offered us free soda/water or free chips. We opted for the chips. That was nice. We look forward to trying their other menu items and hope to give their banh mi's another try in the very near future. Welcome to the Design District, Hello Banh Mi!

They are small for the price, and the bread can't compare to Duc Huong. The jalapeños had a bunch of seeds on them that were hard to dig out of the sandwich so even after I removed them there was still a bunch of spice. Had to take a break and come back to it later. I would probably only come back if I didn't know what else to eat and had a huge banh mi craving.

Taste (4 out of 5): I've gotten the grilled pork sandwich a couple of time, and it's decent! It has all of the banh mi essential ingredients. I was hoping that it's thit nuong, but it tastes a little bland and different from what I am used to. Value (4 out of 5): $9.25 for a decently sized sandwich in SF. Not bad! Service (4 out of 5): Counter service. Haven't had a poor experience!

It was a nice surprise! I was walking around the area and was looking for a quick eat. I AM SO HAPPY I found this place. They serve the common classics from rice meals, soups, Vietnamese coffee and of course! Banh Mi. I have been here twice so far within the past month. The pork Banh mi was great! The pickled veggies were crunchy, but could be more vinegar (in my opinion). The pork meat itself was tender and juicy. The bread was warm, toasty outside, fluff inside. Ordered the pork spring rolls, and they were delicious. They did come with a sort of "yum-yum" sauce, which I usually don't get. REQUEST FOR THE NUOC MAM! That fish sauce game with the egg rolls is the only way. Work is piling up? Deadlines getting close? Not enough energy to walk your pup? Get the Vietnamese ice coffee! It's strong and not too sweet! Service? It was fast and they were very friendly! Overall! It's a great spot for a quick good food. You can also take a seat and enjoy the pho (which I have to try next time) Give this place some business, it's usually not busy at all when I go.

Amazing composition in this banh mi, 4 coke cuts, two sauces, and below $10!

Yessss finally an excellent banh mi in the neighborhood at an exceptional price! I've only tried the special, but can see it has many marks of a well constructed banh mi: the baguette is crisp but not shrapnel for the mouth, there are at least 4 types of cold cuts used, and at least two sauces, pate and a perhaps mayo based sauce, and from the cross section you can see that there is good balance between the meat vegetable and bread components. The flavor on the pate is nice, not too mineraly, and the bit of fresh cracked pepper really sings. My only critique is that jalapeños should probably be deseeded before use in the sandwich, but that's no problem for spicy lovers.

"IT'S QUE VIET!"…read more No Superman here, but let me be your hero for a second because I'm about to put you on to, hands down, **the best Vietnamese food I've ever had**. I actually discovered Que Viet through DoorDash and had everything delivered. I ordered the Deep-Fried Imperial Rolls (Cha Gio), Grilled Chicken & Chicken Imperial Roll Garlic Noodles (Mi Top Ga Nuong Cha Gio Ga), Grilled Pork Sausage Rolls (Nem Cuon), Vietnamese Shrimp Mini Crepes (Banh Xeo Tom), and the Grilled Pork Sausage & Sliced Pork Woven Vermicelli (Banh Hoi Nem & Thit Nuong). Yes... I spent almost **$100 for two people**. Looking back at the receipt, I had to ask myself, *"Is this place expensive, or am I just fat?"* Honestly... probably a little of both. Either way, it was one of the best $100 I've ever spent. If it's your first time ordering from Que Viet, do yourself a favor and get the **garlic noodles**. I know garlic noodles are everywhere these days, but these completely changed my expectations. They were perfectly cooked with an incredible bounce, packed with rich garlicky flavor, and the portion size was generous enough for leftovers (if you have the self-control). I also tried the **Banh Hoi Nem & Thit Nuong** for the first time, and it did not disappoint. One heads-up, though: it's generously topped with crushed peanuts. My friend has a peanut allergy, so thankfully we caught it before digging in. If you have any nut allergies, be sure to mention it when ordering. Every single dish arrived fresh, flavorful, and tasted like it had just come out of the kitchen despite being delivered. That's not something you can say about many places. If you ever find yourself in the city, you **need** to make a stop at Que Viet. This place has been living rent-free in my head ever since, and I already know I'll be back the next chance I get.

Some dishes were better prepared than others, but overall, the food was solid across the board. If you enjoy making your own spring rolls, you'll love the grilled pork skewers. The pork is super tender and has such a incredible flavor profile of lemongrass, garlic, fish sauce, and more. Rolled up with the woven vermicelli noodles and fried wonton crisps in a rice paper, you get a wonderful combination of texture in a single bite. The other crowd favorite of the night was the bánh xèo -- the stuffed rice crepe. The bánh xèo here is by far the best one that I've ever had, even surpassing ones I had in Vietnam. The outside was insanely crispy and and was surprisingly not particularly oily, while the inside was loaded with fillings. Two other dishes that were well received by the group was the betel leaf wrapped grilled beef and the sugar cane shrimp. The beef had a very similar flavor profile as the pork, but the texture was a lot more lean. The shrimp had a bouncy, yet firm texture to it, and was very well-seasoned. My only qualm with the shrimp dish is that the sugarcane did not actually have any sweetness to it. There's fish sauce on the table along with a shrimp paste sauce, but to be honest, every dish we had was so flavorful on its own, the sauces aren't even needed. The only dish that we ordered that fell short was the grilled river shrimp. The presentation of the shrimp is impressive and very photogenic, but the flavor was lacking and the cook was inconsistent. Some people had shrimp that was undercooked -- borderline raw, and on the other end of the spectrum, others had shrimp that was so overcooked, that it was very difficult to remove the shrimp from the shell without completely tearing the meat. That said, everything else we ordered was well-prepared, and very tasty. Service was good throughout the meal, and I would definitely come back again for a meal with a large group. 4.5 experience rounding up to a 5.
