I've been going to the hat for many years to eat at this restaurant, the food is very tasty, but what's very bad is the manager bald guy believe his name is Carlos, he's always in a bad mood and I see that he yells at the employees and they would try to complain to the highest read more

Always looking for a good sandwich shop. We ordered a Pastrami burger and a BBQ beef sandwich. I wanted to like it more than I did. Maybe we ordered the wrong food. I would give it another chance because it has a good reputation. read more

So I have been going to The Hat in east LA and Brea forever! It's by far my favorite pastrami spot hands down. The pastrami chili cheese fries are an indulgence I have to partake in. Having moved to the area, I was super excited to see that there was a location just a few minutes drive away! That excitement was met with skepticism as I read the reviews, which weren't very favorable. I've been to this location twice in the last month. I'm honestly not sure what's with some of these reviews. Those who take the order can be a little hasty at times. They wanna get your order and move on. Other than that, both visits were great! The food was just like I expected from the other locations, and everyone was as helpful as can be. I'm not going to avoid this location. My family loves it and we've had great experiences. Hope they keep it up! read more

The customer service our entire team received was amazing! Carlos the manager deserves a raise he is so helpful and has the best customer service! Food was delish. The ambiance was on point and the area was clean! THANK YOU!!! read more

As a long time costumer of various locations my only complaint is that I can't get the cherry coke mix right! The pastrami here is the same as the pastrami in monterey park! The chili is exactly like the chili in Alhambra! The fries are the exact same at every hat that I've been to! DELICIOUS!!!! The service was extremely fast! My order took 5 minutes to come out maybe that's why I failed at my cherry coke mix???? Sraff was friendly and helpful. Dining room was clean. Food was spot on! Thank you!! read more

Wow! The Hat. Silly name - serious food. One of the largest and most generous pastrami sandwiches I've ever had. It was really cool being able to see them build all the orders right there in front of you. The sides (fries and onion rings) were great. Chili cheese fries are a meal all by themselves. MASSIVE. Not the best I've had but get them to share. Old school 80s diner vibe. Even for how busy it was we ended up with very fast and friendly service. Also, super rad to see an all woman crew working the day I popped in. read more

I am a pastrami fan. This place stacks their pastrami sandwiches pretty thick. It's not bad if you have pastrami cravings, and pretty decent for what you get. read more

The chili fries were good. They could be a little seasoned though but that's just my taste buds. I would still recommend this place

Well I finally tried The Hat. I drive by it everyday and forget that's it an option. I went in and the employees were nice and the dining room was clean and spacious. I got a pastrami sandwich and a cold beef sandwich and they were both really good. Both sandwiches were piled with a good amount of meat and toppings. The prices were reasonable too and I can't wait to try more things off their menu. read more

So dang dank! Loved it. Onion rings were some of the best I've ever had at a fast food place, and the meat wasn't too fatty at all. Huge portions, forewarning! I definitely over ordered my first time. read more

Best onion rings, pastrami and orange bang in town! Hubby and kids love the pastrami chili cheese fries while my go to is their pastrami burger. Service is always quick and friendly although they do need an upgraded speaker/intercom as it's very staticky and hard to hear. Prices are still decent and they give you a ton of food, everything is loaded and falling out everywhere! read more

The Hat is always great. I've been to multiple locations and the food quality is pretty consistent. The portion sizes are huge for the sides; French fries and onion rings. Not much for vegetarians though. That is the only thing I wish was different. For vegetarians they offer a grilled cheese, and an avocado sandwich. Both of these options are a bit underwhelming though. Very bland and nothing spectacular. This location was popping off! Much like all the locations. They get so busy. But our food came out really fast and was hot. I asked for ketchup and ranch packets, and the lady hooked it up. Which was nice. I hate it when you ask for condiments, and they give you one tiny packet. lol read more

Always a classic place. Service was fast and simple. I got the pastrami sandwich. It's huge! Flavorful and there's chili in the front to spice it up. It's very clean and maintained. Classic wood benches and tabletops with laminate. The pricing is just right. It's not too expensive. If you get the chili fries, know that it take at least 3 people to finish it. It's so good. So I got a small fries and it was plenty. This is a staple place for a good sandwich. read more

Food is always excellent , just wish they would have a small size option for the pastrami dip.

Great prices. I always only get the same thing - their pastrami sandwich add Swiss cheese and onions. It's perfection. They stack so much pastrami in the sandwich and the sandwich is massive so I always get two meals out of it. Favorite place for a pastrami sandwich. You also get sooooo many fries. Definitely one of my favorite places. read more

My husband had a Dr. appt in the area so he picked up some food at The Hat, Murrieta, CA. He went to the drive-thru with me in his ear (I'm on the phone) telling him what I want and how I wanted it. Nothing new, right? 2 Pastromi Dip sandwiches, mine with american cheese added and ordered Au Ju separately. Husband also got chili cheese fries, and a drink @about 45.00 for lunch. He drove it all the way home about 21 miles. It took a lot for him NOT to open the bag-that's what the drink was for. We unboxed it and OMG it was a lotta food!! And smelled so good. Husband's chili cheese fries were huge-he ate maybe 1/4 of it-plus only half of the pastrami sandwich. I ate only half of mine but wanted it all. I didn't because my old lady guts would revolt and I'm traveling tomorrow. Let me say, yes it's been a long minute since we've eaten there-and it's always been good. This time was a golden experience. The order taker was patient, kind, and efficient. We got the food home and as I sunk my teeth into my sandwich, it was heaven. Still warm, my cheese had melted sweetly into the moist fresh bun and married the excellent, generous, AND moist pastrami,. I eyeballed the waiting Au Ju sauce as I munched my half sandwich. I finally gave in and dipped the few bites left into the Au Ju not thinking it would improve my experience. WRONG! Seriously, if it was a cold day I could consume the Au Ju like it was a hot drink-it's that good. Before my brain tried to rationalize that I was still hungry, I smartly wrapped up the other half along with that devil Au Ju and popped it into the refrigerator. My husband? I don't know if he will ever finish that order of Chili Cheese fries-but we had a whole other meal left over to eat later on. I'd say that was a good value. So, 5 stars for The Hat! Be hungry when you go there-cuz it's a lotta good food! read more

I was raised on the HAT in Alhambra CA, with the Pastrami and Fries, it was located on Valley and Garfield. Great place and when I get a chance I get the kids together and head to the HAT. Service is good, the portions are huge and very easy to feed a family of four on a large bag of fries and two Pastramis. The place is always clean and well kept, can't beat it. Great pastrami sandwiches and pretty good onion rings too. Another place we've frequented for years. Lots of room in the dining area, but we always do takeout. Service is good, never had a problem with our orders. read more

It says that the pastrami is "world famous," and I'd believe it. This is thinly-sliced (almost "shaved"), juicy pastrami, piled high on a roll with mustard and pickles. I it is about $12, but you can split it and, with fries, it makes a fine lunch. read more

Place was consistently busy when we stopped by for Sun lunch. Lines moved quickly and we got our food pretty fast. Portions were decent considering $8 for chili cheese fries but Bidenomics so whateves... Inside was clean and spacious. Since its known for pastrami sandwiches I kinda expected something more. But it was just meats on bread so maybe idk what the hype is. They dont have a condiment station for even ketchup so make sure to ask at the counter. You also have to ask for napkins and utensils... read more

First review of the new year goes to the first meal of the new year.... The Hat! Discovered this wonderfully sinful delight years ago at the original location in Alhambra. My go to, pastrami burger and chili cheese fries with tomatoes and pickles. It's an amazing combination that will leave your belly warm, full and happy! If you watch them build your pastrami burger, you'll notice they don't skimp on pastrami. It loaded and literally falling out of the bun! Staff here have been friendly and helpful just like the other location. Ask and you shall receive! Keep on Yelp'n! read more

Now this is what I call a great sandwich place. I ordered two pastrami sandwiches and there was so much meat on it. I would've liked mustard on it and a pickle. Overall, the sandwiches were edible and the staff was efficient read more

The Hat serves up a tasty west coast interpretation of the pastrami sandwich. East coast types should just avoid coming here. LOL I have a friend, who rates everything based upon what it tastes like, against what they remember from back east. If the pizza isn't thin enough, or doesn't have the right amount of cheese to sauce ratio, then it's a dump. I'm sorry, but they're missing the point. The Hat's pastrami is thinly sliced and mild. What makes it special, is the dipping of the sandwich into the juice. Very similar to a Chicago Italian Beef. I'm not a fan of all the pickles they put on their sandwiches, but I'll survive. I would also recommend trying their Chili Tamales. Again not spicy, just very good; as are their killer Onion Rings. All serving sizes are huge, more then enough for two. Three and a Half Stars, rounded up to Four. read more

Best Pastrami in town! Fast, friendly, clean and great food! Portions are huge so prepare to split a meal or take home for later!

My friends told me they had great pastrami so decided to come and try it. While waiting in line everyone was ordering a pastrami sandwich so i did the same but i did ask to add some lettuce and onions too it, it only comes with mustard and pickles. If i had brought a friend i could have easily shared the sandwich with them. The portion size was good. The meat was juicy used several napkins. They have peppers on the side available. Would definitely come back with a friend next time. read more
