Our service was phenomenal, refills came consistently, I had plenty of creamer for my cold brews, and our orders came out exactly as requested. My go-to menu option no matter the time of day is still The Grizz (eggs, ham steak, 2 slices of bacon, 2 sausage links, hashbrowns, and 2 sweet cream pancakes). As breakfast is served all-day I'd highly suggest you try it, especially if you're hungry. My big back self also had a 7.99 mini-pie (coconut cream). It was good, but needed more crust! Murrieta's location still has plenty of seating (both booths and tables) and a spacious layout that makes this one of the most accessible locations in SoCal. Still top notch! Wait until I share these photos from this visit with you. Wifey had a Taco Salad, wow that was great. Mom had the Crispy Chicken Cobb salad, amazing and bring your hunger. I had the Southern Scramble for the first time. The sausage was tasty and the portion was very filling. We went to Black Bear Diner and overall had a really great experience. The restaurant was clean, the service was friendly, and the wait time was shorter than expected. We were quoted 20-25 minutes but were seated in about 15 minutes, which was a nice surprise. It did take a little while for our food to come out, but I believe that was because they accommodated a hard-boiled egg, which isn't always an option at restaurants. I was actually really excited about that since it's the only way my son eats his eggs. The portions were generous, the prices were great, and everything we ordered was delicious. They even made me a Virgin Bloody Mary and simply charged it as a regular drink since I didn't want alcohol, which I really appreciated. We had a great experience at Black Bear Diner in Murrieta! We were seated quickly, our drink order was taken right away, and our food came out fast as well. Everything tasted amazing, we ordered the California omelette, the Bruce meat lovers omelette, a side of biscuits and gravy, and a pancake. All of it was delicious and cooked perfectly. More like 3.5. Food is usually good. Had the meatloaf a few nights ago and it looked a little like it had been sitting but it was delicious! Egg soft scrambled is hit or miss. Lot of food for the price (especially now of days!) Service here is friendly but can be a little slowwwwww. Hence the 1.5 stars taken off. Also parking here can be awful, been a few times we've had to dine somewhere else because couldn't find a spot. With just a few protein bars and water for twelve hours after sitting down and getting our food, We all ate like bears. We love coming to Black Bear Diner, but we love going to this one in particular. We are ALWAYS greeted by multiple people when we walk in and that's even when they have quite a few customers already seated. We definitely feel seen. The food is delicious as well. I'm obsessed with their fish n chips. That coleslaw smacks in the best way. I love when we both order it because my hubby doesn't like coleslaw in general so I get to have double I also HAVE to trade my chips for sweet potato ones because if sweet potato fries are an option, I must try them and they never disappoint. They are quite accommodating when it comes to orders as well. My hubby wanted the surf n turf the last time we went and they didn't have shrimp ready yet because we came a lunch time. He asked if they could do a battered fish instead and the cook was happy to make the change for him and they changed the price to suit it as well. Thanks guys! Today was my second time visiting. On my first visit, I ordered the chorizo breakfast burrito, which was really good--though a bit greasy, which is honestly expected with chorizo. This time I decided to try the bacon eggs Benedict and was unfortunately a little disappointed. For those unfamiliar, eggs Benedict is typically an English muffin topped with a poached egg and a creamy hollandaise sauce. I was expecting the egg yolk to be runny when cut into, but it turned out to be fully hard-boiled instead . The hollandaise had a nice flavor and good acidity, but it seemed slightly broken. My wife and I have loved Black Bear Diner for several years, however lately they seem to pay little to no attention to carry out orders. This afternoon, after a long week at work, we decided to get carry out ... country fried steak (little less size) and a dessert. We live 15-20 minutes away and when I got home, my order was just half filled. I should have looked before leaving the restaurant. Too tired to drive back over to speak with a manager. We threw out most of the dinner. This is becoming the norm with the younger people working there paying no attention to what one is ordering. I am less willing to go there again and certainly not willing to recommend this particular location to anyone. I am being generous giving two stars. We have a family owned business in Temecula (19 years now) and could not stay in business if we treated customers like this. read more

This was my second time at Black Bear Diner, and once again, it did not disappoint! Even though the place was really busy, we were seated relatively quickly -- which is impressive considering we had a large party of 12. The hostess was so kind and accommodating, and even made sure we had all three high chairs we needed right away. Our server, Marcos, was clearly juggling a lot of tables, but he still managed to take our orders promptly and with a great attitude. There was a small mix-up with one of the meals in our group, but both Marcos and the manager (I think her name was Rynel?) handled it so well. They comped the meal and made sure the issue was resolved quickly and professionally. It's rare these days to go somewhere that genuinely cares about what the customer says and goes out of their way to make things right -- especially when they're this busy! I ordered the CA Benedict and the bear claw -- both were absolutely perfect. The coffee is also really good, definitely a step above your average diner brew. Last time I went to Black Bear Diner was with a group of close friends like families for dinner. In which the dinner, I ordered was ok in my opinion... For that reason? I don't even recall what we ate, so it was not as memorable. But today, after Twins Water Polo Practice, we had a huge feast for brunch. Boy was it a hit and oh so yummy for our tummies! Both my Twins ate practically everything. But then again, they are growing teens, so I expect nothing less. I myself and hubby ate almost all of our entire breakfast, because it was so delicious! Plus I'm a foodie and love to eat... lol First of all, I have to commend on how adorable the bear theme was, when we arrived from the outside decor and within the restaurant. Everywhere you looked, had cute images and statues of some kind of Black Bear. Including a blast from the past jukebox, which you don't see often. Even our cups of water had a bear imprint on them, as well as, the plates had charming bear paws. They also had so many variety of bear merchandise to purchase. Such as bear boots, bear plushies, bear slippers, bear aprons, baby bear onesies, pjs etc. Great way to generate more cash flow for the diner. Our waitress was very chill and nice. She took our order and we got our food asap. The wait was not long at all. One of my Twins ordered the Chicken Fried Steaks with Scrambled Eggs, SourDough Bread and Crispy Onion Rings. He loved every bite of it. One thing unique about this order? They buttered each slices of the sourdough bread, which is unheard of. They gave him so much, we all got to try it. Yet, we also spread some jam to give it some sweetness. The condiment spread they provided had many choices of hot sauces, jelly's, and sugars, which was an added bonus. My eldest Twin was super hungry from his workout. That he ordered the "Our Biggest, The Grizz!" Which came with hash browns, eggs, bacon, sausages, ham and 2 sweet cream pancakes. He tasted some of my husband's Cinnamon Roll French Toast, so did I. So he never got a chance to eat any of his pancakes. My husband ordered the Cinnamon Roll French Toast, which he really enjoyed. It was suppose to come with fruits but I guess he ordered eggs and sausages instead. In fact, he liked his sausages so much, I ended up giving him one of mine as well. He said his food was good and slightly different from a regular Cinnamon Roll plus a French Toast. I tasted it... To me? It's exactly a French Toast but in a Swirl like Cinnamon Roll shaped, topped with a sweet glaze or icing. It's like merging both foods together. I was in the mood for pancakes and proteins, so I ordered the Volcano. Nothing fancy or unique. You cannot go wrong with breakfast. The pancakes were fluffy and not dry, that was a plus. I just wished they placed my eggs on the side vs on top of my pancakes. Overall, it was a pleasant meal for my lovely family of four to enjoy. We appreciate the hospitality and comfort of family style dining. They also had a dessert display to order/try. However, we all over ate and was stuffed. The portions were generous at Black Bear Diner. You can tell by the pic of how big the Sweet Cakes were compare to the box we placed in the to go box. One of our servers, Ariana always greets us with a smile, and welcomes us back like old family every time! She is always friendly , welcoming and goes the extra mile in excellent customer service!
