Sunday, 6-23-2024: So sorry for another delayed review. Reservations are highly recommended. I'm a member of their VIP club so I receive emails of ongoing specials & events like wine pairings & rare culinary creations. Anyhow, I made reservations for our family of five. Our daughter, son-in-law, grandson, my husband and I came for another divine dining experience. We were seated right away as it wasn't too crowded. We noticed they rearranged the tables and seating. It's still so cozy and pristine with low lighting giving off an intimate vibe. The food was amazing as usual and it came out quickly! Never a bad meal here. Unfortunately, one star off for the service. We have come to expect the high caliber of service offered from Robin & Francesca from past visits. Our server Jessica was nice enough but not very attentive. We had to keep asking for our drinks to be refilled although it was very obvious that our glasses were empty. And there weren't a lot of people there. So our server really missed the mark. Thankfully, the food is consistently outstanding and mediocre service won't dissuade us from returning. read more

We came to eat here for the third time (didn't review on second trip--based on second trip's food l wouldn't have come back but hubby wanted to), and it will be our last. We ordered the cheese curd appetizer and asked for poutine to be on the side. It wasn't. We aren't the type of people to complain, so when it came with the poutine directly on the fried cheese curds, I was less than thrilled. I didn't complain or even say anything, we just ate it and wished we had not ordered it. It makes the cheese curds soggy, so I fail to see why this dish has the poutine on top vs. the side anyway but l digress...we also ordered the street corn dip (elote) and it wasn't that great so we don't recommend that either. My husband ordered the pork chop which is under the entree section and specifies that it comes with a side of smashed potato and chef's choice of veggie of choice. When it arrived, there was no additional veggie, just the smashed potato. When questioning it, the waitress said the apples (which are mentioned as topping the pork chop) were in place of the veggie. But this isn't stated on the menu. I ordered the steak and brie sandwich and it tasted more like cream cheese than brie. We figured it would be a slice of brie but it looked and tasted like cream cheese with maybe some brie mixed in. Upon asking our waitress, she sent the female chef that was on duty that night to answer our questions. The chef also repeated what the waitress told us and said the pork chop's apples were the "veggies". And added that out of 10 orders of pork chops that night, we were the only complaint. Ok, but that still doesn't make it ok to have your menu reflect something different, which is where my husband got frustrated. She stated on the steak entree dish that the mushrooms (l assume a topping/garnish on top) are considered the veggie. I also ordered a side of mac and cheese. I was shocked when it came out super orange. When dining at finer dining establishments, I don't often find orange coloring in mac and cheese dishes. The mac and cheese was bland and unremarkable. Do yourself a favor and skip it. When asking about the brie sandwich, the chef was adamant that it was brie and that they couldn't state on the menu it was brie if it really wasn't or they'd get in trouble by the "FDA" which we thought was a very odd comment. I said it has kind of a gritty taste to it and then she said they creamed it in house. My only thought as to how it would have that texture is they must likely then cream it with the rind on, which isn't my preference. But l guess different strokes for different folks... Let me just say while the chef's demeanor was outwardly professional, and her words were careful, we could tell there was an edge to them and we had ruffled some feathers. It was very much a passive aggressive attempt to put us in our place. Upon leaving we could tell they were at the front of the restaurant talking about us as we walked out. Rude, unacceptable and unprofessional. I agree with all the reviews saying it is inconsistent. It's like Russian roulette as to which kind of meal you'll get each time you come. Got to try this place out with my Best Friend the other night. The Menu was very extensive with lots of tasty dishes to try the next time we dine here.. We decided to split the items this time around and the food tasted amazing. We split the Mussels (we both love mussels), they were tasty thanks to the Sauce they were nestled in. The Mussel sauce was So tasty we used it for Dipping We also split 'The Meat' tri-tip sandwich with sweet caramelized onions, provolone, roasted garlic aioli, on a grilled ciabatta bun. Everything was Very Tasty!! Servers were pretty busy, situating the other patrons, taking orders for drinks and food, pouring drinks & setting tables up with silverware for customers just arriving at the place to decide what they want to eat. My mom and dad took me and the Mr. to dinner and I must say I wasn't disappointed. Lets start with the ambiance, it was quaint and cozy. The seating was really nice. The banquet to sit on with all the pillows was so comfy. Our server was super sweet and laid back. She was fast and efficient. She checked on us regularly and made sure all of our needs were met. My husband enjoyed his meatball sandwich, and our crab cake appetizer was delicious. I had the braided salmon with the lemon orzo and spinach. 2.5 stars. I have such mixed feelings about leaving a poor review. Nice, open seating area adjacent to an open hearth (operational most evenings and Sunday). We were seated immediately and they brought water out right away. Expansive menu that was a bit odd to navigate. Elote dip took a long time to come out, probably about 20 minutes after ordering. Given we were one of the only tables there and it was definitely a "heat and serve" sort of appetizer, this was an excessive wait. Taste was fine. It was a Tuesday special; I don't think I'd order it full price. After we completely finished our chips and dip and they cleared it, it took another 15 or so minutes to bring out our food. I feel like these waits were pretty long. Fish and chips was very disappointing. The batter was thick, tough (honestly never a word I thought I'd use to describe batter), and dark as if the frying oil was old. The actual fish was minimal - way too much extra, unappetizing batter we had to break off and put to the side. The whole reason we chose to come here was because I saw other photos of their fish and chips, so I was so let down. Fries were ok, seemed like they used the same old oil but I admit I prefer a firmer French fry. Cabbage salad underneath the fish was most redeemable part of the dish, but had too many cabbage core pieces. Black and Bleu tri tip salad was enjoyable. Tri tip was pretty tender and flavorful. I'm a sucker for Bleu cheese salad, so I'd order this again. Overall, I really wanted to like this place but I just didn't really enjoy our experience that much. I came in tonight for the Test Kitchen Tuesday event and all I have to say is ahhhhmmmaaazzziiinnnggg! When you come in they have tasty cocktails for purchase while you wait to be seated for the dinner. Chef Martin talks about the test kitchen concept and gets the dinner service going. At the last minute, we decided to change our original dinner plans and go to The Chef's Grille instead. And it was a great choice! This place is a hidden gem and a surprise find. For our feast, we got The Blue Bill sandwich, duck quesadilla, and Popeye salad (if I recall correctly). Everything was delightful! The winner, if I had to choose, was the sandwich. The amalgamation of flavors was outstanding; the blueberry compote complimented the bleu cheese perfectly. This sandwich was one of the tastiest ones I've had. Kudos to the person who thought of this! Service was great despite the place being packed. We had reservations so we didn't have to wait long to be seated. Our server, Michelle, was nice and friendly. The place was a surprise coz the outside doesn't match the inside at all. This is my favorite restaurant in the area--it's our family's go-to spot for every celebration! You can come with kids but we've also come here for dates. The menu is robust, ever changing, and inspired. There are rotating seasonal menus and the chef holds a monthly pre-fixe experience. In the past, he's even hosted culinary adventures abroad---this man is passionate about food! Most everything is made in-house (try their ranch dressing!) and the menu truly has something for everyone. Both dishes were executed well and had good flavours with balanced seasoning. The orange butter on the salmon was delicious. We also tried their signature poutine fries. Gourmet food in a casual setting. I can tell this place is pretty popular because it was pretty crowded even though my family and I came after peak lunch hour on a Sunday. I studied the menu online before coming here, but realized there are lot more items not listed on its website. Braided Salmon was excellent. Not sure if that's a typo on the menu or if it named it this way for some reason. It's salmon with orange butter sauce, served with orzo and grilled spinach. The sauce was very tasty and salmon didn't have any of that strong fishy taste, which is kind of hard to do with salmon. I cook salmon at home quite often and I can never get rid of that fishy taste no matter how strong of a sauce I use. El Cubano (panini sandwich) was good as well. It came with pulled pork, ham, Swiss cheese, mustard, and pickle. Pork was flavored well, and was very tender. There are so many other items I want to try on the menu, I will have to come back some other time to explore more of its entrees. read more

However, as we were finishing the meal we noticed who we believe to be the owner (and/or manage) sitting at the bar. One employee was chatting with him and made a "yes master" comment that was really offensive - I don't care if it's an African-American man making the comment, it's still rude. A few minutes after that a tall, African American lady came out from the back and while interacting with what seemed like a younger coworker was extremely rude to him - demeaning in fact.. She continued to be loud, along with the rest of the employees/owner sitting at the bar. One of the most fabulous meals I've had in a long time. Everything was pure perfection. The customer service was amazing. My cocktail, the Malibu Mistress was so tasty. My ribeye steak was cooked exactly as ordered, and was served with what I would call rustic vegetables. They seemed to be fire roasted and seasoned so well. I ordered 2 desserts to go. The beignets- some of the best I've had. They were fresh, dusted with powdered sugar and came with 2 dipping sauces. I bought the bread pudding for my Dad and he couldn't stop raving about it. It's not too often you stumble upon a random place and everything you order ends up a W. I stayed over in Murrieta for the weekend and wanted to find a nice sit down restaurant to dine at. As many in the area would know, you definitely want to avoid driving the freewaty during rush hour, so I was thankful enough to have found the quaint spot. My friend and I were greeted by the friendly hosts and servers. Everyone had a smile on their face and were so attentive to us. Normally, you'd have one server attending to you but in this case it almost was as if we were helped by the entire staff. It was great. We ordered the grilled artichoke and burrata for starters. Hubby liked the artichoke but just needed a little salt, otherwise he enjoyed it. The burrata me and my mom enjoyed very much! Been here a few times, and even though it's a tad pricey, the food is generally SO good. This last time we made a reservation online for the first time. When we walked in they asked if we had reservations and then seated us quickly. We talked briefly and caught some of the Olympics on the tv, and then our server came around. He was friendly enough, answered a couple questions and took our orders. Drinks came first. On one hand, I appreciate them using something other than Coke or Pepsi just to be different, but the cola they have ... is not great. I ordered a filet, medium rare. It came out much, much more rare than I expected. It was flavorful, but I probably should have asked them to grill it a tad longer. Other than that, everything was tasty. We stuck around for dessert, and had the beignets. They were amazing. I'm pretty sure I'll get those every time going forward. It's a nice date night location partially for the generally good food, but one other thing that's nice about the atmosphere here is that they have managed to find the exactly correct music volume. We could hear and enjoy the songs in the background without having to yell overtop the music or other ambient noise that so many restaurants are plagued by. We will be back again for sure. After going on a hike with my good friend and her dog, we decided to grab a bite to eat. The search was on for a pet friendly restaurant. Fortunately for us we came across The Chef's Grille. We were greeted right away by the hostess, told us the seating was open in the patio, and our server would be right out with menus. The flatbread is essentially a store bought pita, toasted and itty bitty pieces of goat cheese smeared on the pita and then slathered with cheap fig jam.
