The menu is very basic, also reminiscent of classic burger joints. You can get a classic burger, bacon burger, and one other burger (I forgot the last one). You can order up to four patties if you're extra adventurous. The most expensive burger with four patties is about $20. Fries are crispy shoestring style and pair well with the burgers. I wouldn't say the "Papa Sauce" is anything crazy, it's essentially thousand-island sauce. Papa Smash's mascot is an instant icon, he's a mix of Bob's Big Boy & Ness from Earthbound. Love the retro style of the indoor seating area, There's plenty of tables and a fountain for drink refills. The joint is super clean, I'd gladly visit with a little group again. I'll start by saying don't sleep on this place just because it's connected to the gas station. The food is definitely worth stopping through. They are always patient and helpful anytime I go. Called them and suggest them that they should change it and they just make up a bs "safety" excuse for transport. I recently stopped by Papa Smash after hearing some good things about their burgers, and while there are definitely some things they're doing right, there are also a few areas where they could tighten things up--especially if you're planning on taking your food to-go. That alone made a strong first impression. Now, on to the food. The burger itself was decent, but I couldn't help feeling like it was missing something. Mainly... seasoning. It wasn't bland exactly, but it lacked that extra punch of flavor that really makes a smash burger memorable. A little more salt and pepper--or even some house seasoning--could really take things up a notch. Then there's the bun. I'm all for a soft bun, but in this case, it just wasn't up to the job. Between the toppings, sauces, and the meat, the bun collapsed under pressure. By the time I got home, it was soggy beyond saving. If I could make one suggestion, it would be to toast the buns for some extra structure or switch to a sturdier option that can hold up to the weight of everything going on inside. As for the fries, they've got potential, but this is where the packaging let things down. They hand you your meal in an open-topped paper bag, which might be fine for a quick trip down the street, but for anyone driving more than five minutes, the fries get cold fast. They'd do well to take a page from In-N-Out's book with closed bags or lidded boxes to help keep the heat in and the fries fresh. To be fair, I think eating at Papa Smash fresh, on-site, would give you a much better experience. So if you're craving a smash burger and happen to be nearby, park the car, grab a table, and eat it hot. Would I go back? Sure, but next time, I'm staying put. I had the bacon smash burger and fry's. My first recommendation is order the burger without sauce because it's impossible to eat without numerous napkins and falls apart easily. Get the sauce on the side. The bacon wasn't as crisp as I like it, but it tasted good. Overall, the menu was limited, the food was OK and I don't know if I will return. I was shocked because I have never had a situation like this before at this spot. I was on my lunch break so I decided that I would eat it anyway. It was a mess! Burger was not hot; and the bread just fell apart. Furthermore, the fries...burnt and cold. Overcooked and COLD .
