There's something to be said about a good country plate. Whether it's bbq, creole, soul, or plain comfort food--I love it when all the elements come together to make a memorable meal. I remember some of my best meals in my life falling into this broad category. Sharon's Swamp Boat Plate is definitely memorable. The standouts were fried catfish and shrimp as far as mains. They were both good portions, scrumptious, and had some real character to them. The fried chicken was a bit underseasoned but still edible. The best lagniappe was the red beans and rice. I could eat bowls of that on its own especially it being that chonky with sausage and beef in it. The Mac was good too but it just can't compete with that firepower. The service was good. They got our orders correctly despite some hemming and hawing from some in our party as to what to order. They even handled a credit card issue with poised aplomb. The ambience is charming and relaxed. I didn't feel crowded or rushed the whole time we were there. I only wish they had some booths in there because having only tables is kind of annoying. I was really craving some good soul food, so I decided to give this place a try and order a to-go order. Unfortunately, it didn't quite hit the spot. The portions were decent, but the food overall was pretty underwhelming. The fish was seasoned well, and the greens were probably the best part of the meal. The mac and cheese was just okay. The red beans and rice were dry, and the cornbread muffins were dry as well. Overall, a lot of the food could have used more seasoning and flavor. They also gave us a ton of condiments, honestly way more than we needed, so they could probably cut back on that a little. I desperately want to love Sharon's Creole Kitchen because this area NEEDS a great soul food restaurant. Unfortunately, Sharon's appears to have misplaced the soul, the seasoning, the quality control, the staffing schedule, and occasionally the ability to fully cook rice. Let's begin with the gumbo. Our gumbo was so thin it seemed less like gumbo and more like seasoned floodwater with aspirations. There was hardly any meat, but apparently chicken neckbones were available in Costco quantities. I discovered this in the most horrifying way possible: I was sharing the gumbo with a TODDLER, who nearly choked on a small piece of neckbone before I realized they were throughout the dish. That stopped being funny immediately. Food served with small bones absolutely needs to be made clear to customers--especially when those bones can easily disappear into a spoonful of gumbo. Then there's the rice, which on our visits has apparently been introduced to boiling water but not given enough time to develop a meaningful relationship with it. The catfish is a culinary roulette wheel. Will today's piece be doughy and undercooked? Burned into an archaeological artifact? SPIN THE WHEEL! On one particularly revolting occasion, we found what appeared to be WORMSin the fish. At that point, dinner becomes less "soul food" and more an unwanted episode of National Geographic. The beignets could be used as landscaping gravel. The fried chicken and okra have arrived so overcooked that I genuinely wondered whether they were fried that afternoon or discovered during an excavation. They have the unmistakable energy of food that has been sitting under a heat lamp long enough to qualify for Social Security. And somehow, despite all this, the PRICES have tremendous self-esteem. You might forgive an occasional kitchen disaster if management were responsive, but good luck reaching anyone. Calls go unanswered. Messages aren't returned. The hours seem less like a schedule and more like a loose philosophical suggestion. Meanwhile, the servers appear to be working their tails off because the restaurant seems chronically understaffed. I actually feel sorry for them. You cannot expect employees to provide excellent service when they're being asked to operate a restaurant with approximately six arms missing. We have given Sharon's more chances than we should have because we genuinely wanted this restaurant to be good. We're done. This area absolutely deserves a fantastic soul food restaurant--the kind of place where the gumbo is rich, the catfish is crispy and worm free, the chicken is juicy, the beignets are pillowy, and somebody's grandmother would proudly slap your hand for reaching for seconds before everyone else was served. Sharon's Creole Kitchen is not that place. There may be "Creole Kitchen" in the name, but based on our experiences, somebody needs to put out an APB because the soul has officially left the building. read more

So, if I could give a half staring would. I've been waiting for them to re open. I ordered the same thing I always order. The shrimp dinner with fried okra and Parmesan garlic fries. The okra what little was in the container was over cooked and just gross. I have no idea what they put in my container with the okra but it wasn't okra. I don't know if I got the bottom of the barrel or what. The shrimp was overcooked as well. Very disappointed as we come here often as a family and I doubt we will be back. read more

Great family-owned Creole restaurant in Murrieta. Their chicken is delicious with a light, crispy coating. Mac and cheese is just like homemade. And the yams are like candy and our fave side dish. We've been coming here for years and the cornbread tastes different. Not complaining because it tastes better! The prices have definitely gone up since the last time we came but it's rare to find good soul food like this anywhere. read more

Oh man... I found out there's new management/owners and I'm so disappointed. The interior and menu is pretty much the same but the food isn't made with love or care anymore. The portions changed and the taste really isn't worth coming back. I tried the "famous" 3 pcs chicken for the first time and they give me 2 dry wing tips and 1 dry wing. How is this "meal" supposed to fill anyone up? I imagine they had the audacity because I'm a smaller figure but I would be ashamed to serve this to someone who is taller/larger. 70% of the chicken was bones and you expect anyone except a 8 year old to be full? This is basically a kids meal for an adult price. Every other fried chicken pic in the past has a big thigh but of course new management wants to cut corners. The debris fries were slightly better. The gravy is just salty soup which was meh. So sad because this place used to be my favorite for soul food. I miss the previous owners. The previous chef once came out to greet everyone in the restaurant and even hooked us up with sweet yam syrup for the beignets we ordered. I don't think this place has the soul for the soul food anymore. $100 dinner for 4 pcs of small dry chicken, salty fries, and audacity. They gave me a thigh after I mentioned the tiny portion but I'm still hungry... I'm 110 lbs. This 3 (actually 4) pcs dinner can't fill a 110 lbs woman. I can't imagine how many plates would be needed for an average man. Would not recommend or return. The greed is too much. I usually come here with family on vacation. There's plenty of parking outside and they have a good amount of seating. I tried their sampler platter of four lagniappe (appetizers) to try. Their beef sausage po'boy ($16) and beignets ($13) were great. The po'boy came with a side of sweet potato fries and it was seasoned heavily with cinnamon. Beignets were fluffy and soft. My mom likes their shrimp etoufee. It comes with white rice on the side but it was hard and undercooked. It has a good amount of heat to it. The lagniappe plate ($17) I chose were 4 small bowls of their gumbo, etoufee, jambalaya, and red beans and rice. Their hushpuppies and maque choux which is corn with bell peppers, celery, and onions were also good. Their fried chicken was good too, crispy skin and seasoned, juicy meat. Absolutely amazing! I had the jambalaya and it was SO good, packed with flavor, perfectly seasoned, and such a generous portion. Everything tasted fresh and homemade, and the cornbread and rice were the perfect sides. The service was great too! I'll definitely be coming back and trying more of the menu. AMAZING FOOD! I only wish I lived closer to Sharon's Creole Kitchen. The food was incredibly delicious--so good it left me wanting more even after I was full. Portions were generous, which was perfect since I came with a group of mountain bikers and we ordered a variety of dishes to share and try. Extremely disappointed. Sharon's used to be one of the places I genuinely looked forward to whenever I came to Murrieta. The food had love, flavor, and that authentic soul-food feeling that kept me coming back. Since the new ownership took over, it feels like all of that is gone. The food I received was nasty, lacked flavor, and honestly didn't resemble the Sharon's I remember at all. You can't just call something "authentic soul food" when the quality, seasoning, and soul that made the place special are no longer there. I hate leaving this review because I USED TO LOVE coming here. But after this experience, I'm extremely disappointed and unfortunately I will never come back. The fact that we came back twice in one weekend says it all! The Cajun Creole food is absolutely amazing and so full of flavor, generous portions, and tastes like home! Both times we left with leftovers because there was so much food, and it tasted just as good the next day. The staff were incredibly attentive which is huge to me! They were friendly, and made sure everything was perfect throughout our visit. Unfortunately, I don't have any pictures even though we recently ate here twice. The food is amazing! The fried catfish is so tasty. The mac & cheese is good. I personally don't care for the greens but everything else we've had here has been really good. My husband has had the shrimp and catfish and the Poboy sandwich. The service is outstanding! Such good people and very nice people. The ambience is welcoming and a casual place for good food and and spending time with loved ones. It is on the pricier side, but that's expected with the food. We've carried out from here a few times and one time we didn't check and our order was wrong, but it was actually just the sides so it wasn't bad but just check your food and like every other place before you leave. read more

This was previously on of our favorite restaurants and we almost always order the same order so we have left overs. We ordered box #4 half catfish half red snapper and 2 sides. for 55.95 per the menu. The red snapper was very bland and we let the server know so that they are aware. When we got the bill it showed 69.95. When I asked about the difference I was told "yes we, well not me but they raised the prices a little". If I could give a zero I would. We arrived about 25 minutes after the restaurant opened. I drove 45 plus minutes to go to the restaurant because my mother has been wanting some smothered pork chops. My mom had major surgery in July and she was hospitalized about 10 minutes from Sharon's Creole Kitchen and I purchased the smothered pork chops for her on (2) prior occasions. Unfortunately today everything we tried to order they were out of stock! No pork chops, no corn, no snapper, no crawfish! We walked out today is a Wednesday, 25 minutes after opening you have no items to make many of the dishes on your menu???? Today was a true disappointment! read more

First timers and we are definitely returning. We ordered catfish and fried chicken. Sides included red beans rice, greens, Mac n cheese, and yams. Everything was a 10/10. Although we drove 40 minutes we were not disappointed. The flavors and seasoning was on point. Service was excellent and friendly. Mia was outstanding. In town visiting family and was referred to Sharon's. Upon arrival at Sharon's, there were a group of people waiting outside for their orders. The place was busy. Upon entering, I could smell the delicious foods (thinking this is a winner). I was promptly and friendly greeted by the hostess. I ordered a number 5 box family meal to go. I was told it would be ready in about 20 minutes. I waited outside for about 10 minutes then decided to go sit inside and wait for my food. About a minute after sitting down, I received my order. Everyone was friendly. The restaurant is a nice place to eat in too. Great decor and patio seating too! I mentioned that it was my first time here and the reply was you will be back tomorrow. Was excited to come and try some good food as we arrived a little after 1pm we were seated right away. The music isn't disappointing me at all. Good vibes! As I look over the menu there are so many things I want to order but I can't focus because it's so hot I here. It's 100 degrees outside and the air is just not doing its job. I started with a sweet tea that I am thoroughly enjoying! I ordered fried pork chops with greens & candied yams with a side of mac and cheese & red beans & cornbread. Now that I have finished eating I can say I enjoyed my food. I thought the cornbread muffin was just ok, but the pork chop was seasoned and juicy. I had the smothered pork chops and rice with mac & cheese and braised cabbage. My husband had, fried chicken, Cat Fish, Collard Green, Mac & Cheese & Red Beans & Rice.
