So, if I could give a half staring would. I've been waiting for them to re open. I ordered the same thing I always order. The shrimp dinner with fried okra and Parmesan garlic fries. The okra what little was in the container was over cooked and just gross. I have no idea what they put in my container with the okra but it wasn't okra. This place is fire! I goggled around my area and this came up and now it will be a regular spot to visit. The collard greens were done to perfection even my picky eater kid ate it up, the Peach Cobbler and German Chocolate Cake are very much worth the price. Unfortunately, I don't have any pictures even though we recently ate here twice. The food is amazing! The fried catfish is so tasty. The mac & cheese is good. I personally don't care for the greens but everything else we've had here has been really good. My husband has had the shrimp and catfish and the Poboy sandwich. The service is outstanding! Such good people and very nice people. The ambience is welcoming and a casual place for good food and and spending time with loved ones. It is on the pricier side, but that's expected with the food. Oh man... I found out there's new management/owners and I'm so disappointed. The interior and menu is pretty much the same but the food isn't made with love or care anymore. The portions changed and the taste really isn't worth coming back. I tried the "famous" 3 pcs chicken for the first time and they give me 2 dry wing tips and 1 dry wing. How is this "meal" supposed to fill anyone up? I imagine they had the audacity because I'm a smaller figure but I would be ashamed to serve this to someone who is taller/larger. 70% of the chicken was bones and you expect anyone except a 8 year old to be full? This is basically a kids meal for an adult price. Every other fried chicken pic in the past has a big thigh but of course new management wants to cut corners. The debris fries were slightly better. The gravy is just salty soup which was meh. So sad because this place used to be my favorite for soul food. I miss the previous owners. The previous chef once came out to greet everyone in the restaurant and even hooked us up with sweet yam syrup for the beignets we ordered. I don't think this place has the soul for the soul food anymore. $100 dinner for 4 pcs of small dry chicken, salty fries, and audacity. I usually come here with family on vacation. There's plenty of parking outside and they have a good amount of seating. I tried their sampler platter of four lagniappe (appetizers) to try. Their beef sausage po'boy ($16) and beignets ($13) were great. The po'boy came with a side of sweet potato fries and it was seasoned heavily with cinnamon. Beignets were fluffy and soft. My mom likes their shrimp etoufee. It comes with white rice on the side but it was hard and undercooked. It has a good amount of heat to it. The lagniappe plate ($17) I chose were 4 small bowls of their gumbo, etoufee, jambalaya, and red beans and rice. Their hushpuppies and maque choux which is corn with bell peppers, celery, and onions were also good. Their fried chicken was good too, crispy skin and seasoned, juicy meat. So drove from san Diego to get some soul food. Got the 3 piece fried chicken, CUP of crawfish ettoufee and Po man Gumbo. First the chicken legs were very small and the chicken fried dark. The cup of ettoufee had absolutely no crawfish at all and the gumbo had chicken and sausage with a big hunk of chicken fat I thought was meat. When I walked in they seem busy since no one greets you. There a bunch of bags of food just sitting there so when I asked was one of the bags of food my, the black heavy set girl put her hand to her head without looking my way asked me to please wait. In town visiting family and was referred to Sharon's. Upon arrival at Sharon's, there were a group of people waiting outside for their orders. The place was busy. Upon entering, I could smell the delicious foods (thinking this is a winner). I was promptly and friendly greeted by the hostess. I ordered a number 5 box family meal to go. I was told it would be ready in about 20 minutes. I waited outside for about 10 minutes then decided to go sit inside and wait for my food. About a minute after sitting down, I received my order. Everyone was friendly. The restaurant is a nice place to eat in too. Great decor and patio seating too! I mentioned that it was my first time here and the reply was you will be back tomorrow. I probably will be back then as the food was delicious and reasonably priced (and I want to try the red beans and rice!). I recommend Sharon's! read more

As I look over the menu there are so many things I want to order but I can't focus because it's so hot I here. It's 100 degrees outside and the air is just not doing its job. I started with a sweet tea that I am thoroughly enjoying! I ordered fried pork chops with greens & candied yams with a side of mac and cheese & red beans & cornbread. Now that I have finished eating I can say I enjoyed my food. I thought the cornbread muffin was just ok, but the pork chop was seasoned and juicy. LISTEN...don't say this lightly--but as someone who knows gumbo, this was a serious miss. The gumbo itself was the biggest issue. What came out wasn't gumbo in any real sense--it was a thin, watery broth that just sat there with no body, no texture, no life. Gumbo is supposed to have depth, a richness that coats the spoon, layers of savory flavor that build as it simmers. This had none of that. It tasted flat, like seasoned water that never developed--no thickness, no smokiness, no backbone. Every spoonful just reminded me of what was missing. The rice didn't help either--undercooked and hard, throwing off the entire bite. The shrimp was overcooked to the point it turned rubbery, which only added to how disconnected everything felt. And not having okra? That just made the lack of texture even more noticeable. There was nothing there to give it that classic feel--no structure, no balance, nothing tying it together. My wife is Gullah Geechee, and she knew from the first bite this wasn't right. That reaction alone said everything. I will say, the staff was genuinely kind and tried to make up for it, and I respect that. But gumbo is about execution, patience, and depth--and this felt rushed, unfinished, and far from what it should be. Well, the Po' Man's Gumbo was spectacular and the fried okra was as good as I had when I lived in Eastern Texas! Not impressed with the Shrimp etouffee and wouldn't recommend. To me 5 pieces of shrimp does not make it an etouffee and the sauce was not that good.
