I waited about 15 minutes here in the drive thru. I ordered a pastrami burger and it was pretty good! I've been here before and the food is always good. When I got to the window the worker seemed annoyed and was kind of rude.... When handing my card back he was wearing gloves and dropped it and in a very annoyed tone says "oh my god" then shuts the window. Not the best experience. I'll do us both a favor and decide not to return. read more

The Hat almost seems out of place in California. A must try destination for greasy goodness their food hits the spot at a decent price point. Order at the counter and wait for them to call your number (or go through the drive through). Food comes out pretty fast, and they have a touch less soda machine which is sort of nice for the germ-conscious. Food is excellent, the chili fries are so so good, and with pastrami on top, *chef's kiss*. It's a meal for two for sure! The pastrami sandwich itself is also delicious. I wish they would start opening locations across the US! It would be a huge hit in Chicago that's for sure!! There's not much to say about the ambiance besides that it's clean, even though it gets busy I don't think I've ever seen a dirty table. read more

Fast service and food wait time was super prompt. Fresh food all around. But basically almost $30 for 3 items?! Chili cheese fries, roast beef sandwich, and chili dog. I didn't realize the chili cheese fries were hella pricey. But it's worth it more so if you split this item between 3 or 4 people and get your money's worth compared to just sharing with one person. The chili cheese fries were fantastic though even though we didn't finish it since it was a ginormous serving. 3 stars are yes for the overpriced total fee I paid and ALSO for the soggy chili dog, I don't know I wasn't expecting to eat the chili dog with a fork lol, would've preferred to eat it like a regular hot dog. Yes it tasted good and all, but too soggy to be considered a hot dog and to be eaten like a normal hot dog with chili without using a fork. I'll up my rating if I come back to this location if I have a better experience lol. read more

It's packed for a good reason. Pastrami anything is good here but I usually order the chili cheese fries extra crisp with pastrami. It's a big serving. Pastrami is probably one of the best out there, it's thinly sliced and flavorful. read more

Visited the area while on a trip and my friend recommended this place. It was crowded at about 6pm with a long line through the drive through and inside the store. I was surprised by the number of workers and how efficient they were. The line was moving quickly and orders were coming out. I ordered the pastrami and chili cheese fries and it is so much food! I shared with my friend and it was more than enough for the both of us. The chili cheese fries had a ton of chili and cheese on it - they don't skimp! So good! The pastrami was also a winner!!! So much pastrami inside it fell out as I ate it and had mustard and pickles inside which went so well with the pastrami. The pastrami was delicious and was almost like eating bacon. Yum!! I will definitely return the next time i'm in Cali! The cashier and person giving out the completed orders were super friendly and helpful! read more

Food is great BUT tip Never and I mean NEVER go thru the drive thru here. It took my 35 minutes and there were only 5 cars in front of me. This place has been here long enough for management to fix this problem. read more

This place was packed. The drive-thru had at least 15 cars waiting, service was fast and efficient. Ambiance is casual, the restaurant is not fancy but comfortable. FOOD well this is where I think this location failed. The meat had wonderful flavor, texture, perfect fat ratio, sadly my sandwich was served on WET BREAD. I am one of those people who cannot stand the taste of wet bread. It was not only wet but SOGGY (sadly I did not eat the sandwich) I am not sure if everyone gets a soggy sandwich here, but if this is how they serve all the sandwiches I wont be coming back! Excellent pastrami, cheeseburgers, and chili! The Hat has been on our list of places to try in SoCal for a while now because it's a staple! After driving by multiple times, we finally decided to come here for a late dinner, which did not disappoint. We ended up over-ordering (which is the best way to do it): - Pastrami fries - Cheeseburger - Double cheeseburger - Chili tamales The pastrami fries were huge and they came out PIPING hot. It was topped with a generous portion of chili and pastrami...so good! The pastrami was not too salty or greasy, which I was a huge fan of. The chili was also perfectly seasoned. Surprisingly, I really enjoyed their cheeseburgers. It was a decent size, the patty was seasoned well, and it was also not heavily greasy. It also included fresh tomato, shredded lettuce, and onions. They even toast their buns! My favorite was the chili tamale. Topped with a huge spoonful of their delicious chili, their tamale had a nice spicy kick to it. I recommend getting it will all the toppings: pickles, tomatoes, and onions. Even though you only get one tamale to an order, this can easily be split into multiple meals because this was so heavy. Following a weekend in Las Vegas I came back home with a random craving for Chili cheese fries, the type thats topped with onions and Pastrami. The Hat is the answer. So it's perfect that my wife and kids love roast beef dip sandwiches and pastrami sandwiches because The Hat also does this very well. When im in LA it's Langers for the sandwich, and Dinos for the pastrami topped chili fries. When I'm OC, it's The Hat. If you know, you know. The place has been serving customers for 40+ years and in the 6 years I've lived in OC, the first trip to it, it hasn't changed much. You'll enter the double doors and walk to the order window. If you walk in and see a long line, no worries, be patient, it's worth it. It also moves pretty quickly. Once you place your order, you'll be given a number. Find a nice spot and hangout. Soon, your cravings will be more than satisfied. Portions are very generous here, I'd say 2 to 3 people can split an order of chili fries. I took an order for myself personally haha. That being said, The Hat is a gem. Bang for your buck, good service, customizable options, reasonable turn around time from kitchen, agreeable pricing, plenty of table seating and plenty of parking. Love this place I've been coming to the location on Central for years now I've been here in the United States for practically 27 years and I'm telling you out of those 27 probably 23 of them were spent in this restaurant sometimes even 2 to 3 nights a week. Such a home video energy when you walk in everybody's so nice to you smiles on their face. Looks like they love what they're doing. I don't even get me started on the food. Delicious. They're pastrami chili cheese fries with a side of gravy delicious and a pastrami sandwich with extra pickles, my God. And the roast beef doesn't fall behind either. I love this place and regardless of what's happening around in the United States today I still visit. read more

Fine dining it is not, but when you and your family want some tasty food, nice portions without breaking the bank, this place is where you go. This place became our go to whenever we were craving french fries and some good sandwiches. I especially love the pastrami..my mouth is watering as I write this..the chili fries are monstrous..there usually is a line, but they are very efficient in getting orders in and out, so not too long a wait usually. Was feeling snacky and got a small order of fries, onion rings and a side of gravy to share with my sister. The drive thru line was long but moved fairly quickly. Everything was fresh out of the fryer, hot and crisp! The onion rings were a bit greasy but not dripping in oil, the gravy was rich in flavor and thick in consistency. Their portions are HUGE even though we ordered a small. My only complaint is their drink cups, they are extremely thin and flimsy. The condensation on my cup was insane lol! Aside from that, I recommend The Hat, they have 11 locations in Southern California so you are bound to find one near you! read more

I understand that The Hat is known for their pastrami sandwich which the hubs ordered but I decided to go with my ride-or-die, Chili Cheese Dog. Unfortunately, I was not a fan. The chili tasted super spicy and didn't go well with the hot dog. It was "goopy" and the cheese wasn't melted overtop. It was a mess. I did, on the other hand, enjoy their orange cream soda. I've always wanted to try The Hat and thankfully they have multiple locations across SoCal. I stopped by this location since I was going down to Disneyland from LA and felt a bit peckish. They had several cars in their drive thru but it moved quick. Of course I had to get the pastrami dip and also decided to get fries, onion rings, and some iced tea as a refreshment to wash it all down. The pastrami dip is "world famous" and I'd say it was delicious! The sandwich was packed full of thin slices of the pastrami which tasted like a cross between ham and bacon. It was so juicy and filling. I wish it had a bit more pickles to cut all the rich flavors but I enjoyed it regardless. They also gave a huge portion of fries and onion rings! The fries were crispy and thick, so you could taste the fluffiness of the potato. The onion rings were fried to perfection and the batter was just great. Loved how affordable it all was too! If you want the best Pastrami in the world, you have to come to The Hat, because they give you ginormous portions with generous attitudes. My go to order is the Pastrami Dip, and the Chili Cheese Fries, because they give you so much food you can share with multiple people. The Pastrami Dip is so flavorful, and juicy, it's mind boggling it is how good this sandwich is, the best Pastrami in the world and it is electric. The Chili Cheese Fries are some of the best, I've ever had they are monster size they are so huge but so good, and they taste abstinence the money and have some of the best Chili I would say Top 10 in the world, and the Fries have just the right amount of salt and ratio with the Chili Cheese is spectacular. If you want to get the best Pastrami you have to come to The Hat because you would want to come back here for the rest of your life, and bring your kids, parents, and grandparents, here because they would tell them stories of how great the food here is on the planet. read more

I went to eat and visit with family @The Hat. Food wasn't up to the hype. Pastrami was thin on meat, pickles. The chili fries the worse I have ever had. The potato's were hard and over cooked, chili only covered the top. Asked for more and was told I would have to purchase . I was willing to do but then was given a small portion. L. If you want a really good pastrami sandwich and a beef sandwich and gravy fries come here to the hat world, famous pastrami in Los Angeles, California. It is the greatest pastrami restaurant me and my family ever been to. It's tradition for me and My Wife to go when we are out in LA. I highly recommend this place. You can never go wrong with pastrami! The Hat is very filling and gives enormous portions. I ordered the pastrami chili cheese fries, and it filled me up so fast. Now that I think about it, I should have split the fries with someone else. When I got home to eat, the fries were still fresh and hot. This place is always busy inside, so I recommend going through the drive-through. read more

The hat used to have great pastrami! Prices are high and quality is lower just like everything else in today's economy. Poor quality meat, so much fat it was not edible. U used to love the cherry coke and now it tasted like diesel fuel. A lot of money down the drain. So long to "The Hat"! read more

We sat for over **20 minutes** without anyone coming to our table--not even to offer water. I eventually had to get up and ask someone to send a server over. What made it even more frustrating was watching other parties who arrived **15-20 minutes after us** receive water immediately and have their orders taken before anyone even acknowledged our table. After finally waiting another 10 minutes to receive our water, we had to track down our server again just to place our food order because no one returned to check on us. By that point, we had been sitting long enough and were more than ready to order. To make matters worse, we ordered an appetizer of coconut shrimp about five minutes after placing our entrée order, but it never arrived. After we had already finished our meals, we asked to cancel it, only to be told that our server had never entered the order in the first place. Unfortunately, the food didn't make up for the poor service. It lacked flavor and was very underwhelming. This experience was frustrating enough that I cannot recommend Reunion Kitchen. I initially wanted to believe this was simply an off day or an inexperienced server, but after hearing from two other people I know who described nearly identical experiences, it seems this may be a recurring issue. One thing that left me especially uncomfortable was seeing guests who arrived well after us receive prompt attention while our table was repeatedly overlooked. I can't say why that happened, but it certainly made us question whether we were being treated differently. I sincerely hope the restaurant looks into its service standards and ensures every guest is treated with the same level of respect and attention.

The bar area had a good ambience with a game from the Dodgers playing. The bartender was really friendly and made me feel welcomed. Once I ordered my beer came out pretty quick and my burger followed not too long after. I ordered the bison burger, and it was really good. I saw a few other items that would be guiltless or not as unhealthy that I will most likely try on a different location after the gym when I'm hungry and don't feel like cooking afterwards.

The steak was tough, but the veggies had flavor and cooked perfectly. The tortilla was also good. I ended up eating the veggies with the tortilla without the steak. It comes with small ramekins of sour cream, guacamole & the black bean salsa - which was more like a purée. Deviled eggs - so, I love deviled eggs. If it's on the menu at any restaurant, I always order them. These were very runny. The flavor was good, but the texture of the yolk was like baby food. I wouldn't order again. Grilled cheese & soup - this was good. Very cheesy. I thought the glasses for the drinks were cute. I drank about 1/2 my coke and noticed the glass was dirty with specs of food, both inside the glass and outside. My cloth napkin also had stains. We are local, so if our friends wanted to come back, we might try it again, but this would not be my first choice.

Walking in felt like revisiting a place that had been quietly waiting in the background of my story. The centerpiece is still the incredible bar. Shelves stacked floor to ceiling with whiskey bottles, glowing green tile behind the taps, warm lighting, and enough character that you can spend half your time simply looking around. It's the kind of room that feels both energetic and comfortable at the same time. I grabbed a seat at the bar, watched a soccer match on the TVs, and ordered an Old Fashioned. It arrived exactly the way I hoped it would: large clear ice cube, generous orange peel, balanced and smooth without trying too hard. Just a well-made classic cocktail. What stood out most was the atmosphere. These days I'm much more likely to be exploring hiking trails, photographing wildflowers, or driving mountain roads than spending time in bars. Twelve years ago, places like this were a much more regular part of my life. Coming back reminded me why I enjoyed them in the first place. Good conversation, a comfortable seat, a quality drink, and no rush to be anywhere else. The beer taps looked extensive, the whiskey selection seemed endless, and the entire place struck a balance between neighborhood pub and whiskey destination. Funny how a random AI navigation suggestion brought me back to a place I'd been meaning to revisit for over a decade. Glad it finally did. 5 stars.

First off, the place looks nice when you walk in, but that's where the positives end. The service was painfully slow -- not the "busy restaurant" kind of slow, but the "did anyone remember we're here?" kind. We waited forever just to get water, and it somehow took even longer for the food. Then the food actually showed up... and wow. Bland, overpriced, and somehow still cold. It tasted like it had been sitting under a heat lamp since last week. For a restaurant attached to a Hilton, I expected at least basic quality, but this felt like cafeteria food with steakhouse prices. To make things worse, the staff acted like helping customers was a huge inconvenience. No check-ins, no refills, no effort. Just vibes of "please eat and leave." Between the slow service, disappointing food, and ridiculous prices, this place feels like a tourist trap hiding in a hotel lobby. Save your money and eat literally anywhere else in Brea. Even a gas station snack run would be a better experience.

I watched as you interrupted the waitress multiple times as she was serving the tables beside you, including mine. I watched as you chased down the man in the suit after you called over three other servers that assured you of the busy time. I also watched three other people bring out all your food, and you yell at them "NO" and told the server to "go away. Youre missing the game now" I also watched you yell at the man in the suit. He did nothing but smile, as someone should when being disrespected in his place of business. The tables around were staring because of your behavior or tantrum. Yelp is for reviews of food and honest feedback. Not to throw a tantrum because of impatience or maybe because you wanted a free meal. This is not fair to this location or staff that tried to remedy your outburst which caused your family to leave. I will return here again and again, and really could not stand to read someone bashing this place because of a busy Sunday. This place is always booming on Sundays, reservations are a must and wait times are EXPECTED. The food is worth the wait and the service is extremely warming during the wait. The beef came stuck together and the color was a weird shade of brown. It also smelled funny. I've ordered this dish multiple times before (I've even posted a picture of this from a previous visit) so I know it shouldn't look and smell this way. Rigatoni Alfredo 2.0 - (added Chicken) - This was very good. My daughter liked this a lot. She finished everything. Pappardelle Bruno - The braised short ribs were very tender. However, the pasta tasted pretty bland. Overall, my visit today was a 6/10.

For those people trying to lose weight, get in shape, or are generally health conscious, you really should steer clear of The Hat because it'll set you back 5 lbs. For the rest of us, welcome to The Hat. As you can probably surmise from the other reviews, the Pastrami Dip and chili cheese fries are definitely the thing to get here. I've had the Beef Dip before too, and it wasn't bad, but it pales in comparison to it's amazing cousin the Pastrami Dip. The bread is soft, the pastrami is tender, greasy, and salty, what more could you really ask for? An order of chili cheese fries is basically a mountain of chili cheese fries stuffed into a little tray, which you can choose to top with...dare I say it, MORE PASTRAMI!! Yes, for a couple bucks more, you can order a mountain of chili cheese fries, covered in a mountain of pastrami. While it's not on the menu, you can still order and that's pretty much what I do every time I go. I would recommend that, unless you can eat in quantities that put bears to shame, you split the pastrami chili cheese fries with someone because it is a lot of food. Sadly, I can't really vouch for the rest of the their menu because I always make a beeline for the chili cheese fries topped with pastrami, although I make an occasional detour for some orange bang. Besides the food, the staff is always nice whenever I go (though it does get pretty hectic around lunch time), there's a good amount of indoor and outdoor seating (with some larger booths towards the back for larger groups), and refills on drinks are free which is good because you're probably going to need a couple refills with all the meaty-cheesy saltiness that's going on. read more

If I could give The Hat ten stars, I would! The pastrami here is simply the best I've ever had. It literally melts in your mouth and pairs perfectly with the French dip broth. I've visited several locations, and each one is consistently amazing. The customer service is always fantastic, the pricing is reasonable, and there's plenty of seating. The bread is perfectly soft, complementing the incredible pastrami in a way that's hard to describe. It's truly the best pastrami out there, leaving you craving and wanting more after every bite. I've also tried their burgers and chili cheese fries, which are both 10 out of 10. If you're looking for an unforgettable dining experience, The Hat is the place to go. This location gives me old-school burger diner vibes with a twist of modern. read more

I had almost forgotten about all of the savory goodness in a double paper bag. until my daughter reminded me by asking for a beef dip sandwich for dinner. I placed the order and picked everything up since there is no dine in at this time. I was not disappointed. the pastrami and the beef dip were excellent as usual, the fries and onion rings were perfectly crisp and piping hot. to those reviewers who complain about "not having any healthy options" let me be the first to tell you: if you are hungry for a tofu quinoa kale low carb meal please go somewhere else. do not expect a classic comfort food establishment like the hat to cater to your twisted nutritional requirements. to all the rest of the population who enjoys classic flavorful classic junk food: I recommend The Hat! read more

We went on a Friday evening and the place was packed! after ordering (for the two of us we paid $22.46 including tax) and finding a spot to sit we chatted for a few minutes and our number was called, pretty quick considering how busy they were. The food was alright, nothing spectacular... what I didn't anticipate was the HUGE portion of fries, we ordered 1 large fry to share, and what we received was a "to-go" bag half-way filled with fries... Ordered the pastrami fries and onion rings here and they give you gigantic portions. Unless you are a food beast, you will not be able to finish the pastrami fries on your own. At least for the time I've been there, it took us 3 to 4 people to finish the fries. Onion rings are the bomb here. Not only do they give you a bag full of those onion rings, they're perfectly crispy and the onion rings within them are able to be cleanly bitten off. The pastrami fries are good, but as you go on, you'll probably get tired of it. Thus the 3 stars. You don't feel healthy after you come out of the restaurant. The Hat always delivers! We've been coming here for years. We usually drive thru but decided to eat in recently. Parking is always easy here, tons available. The order line was pretty short, but after we ordered it grew to at least 10 people, but the staff opened a second register and it went super fast. The staff here are amazing! Very kind and efficient! Now the food.. if you've never been to The Hat before, you have to try the chili cheese fries! They're easily shared between 2-4 people. The pastrami is good, the burgers are good, and you need to try the cherry coke! I highly recommend The Hat and will keep coming back here! read more

Came in for a late dinner with a friend. The restaurant was fairly clean and I liked its retro look. The food there was pretty good. The Pastrami Dip Sandwich was very good and the meat was seasoned just right. It was also well-portioned; it definitely is worth its $6.99 price. I'd recommend it. My friend and I also ordered the chili cheese fries which were HUGE. I'm pretty sure it would be sufficient for 4 people. Overall, it's a great place to go if you want if you want a lot of food at a decent price. Definitely not a place to go if you are trying to watch what you eat though (especially the fries). read more

If you're craving an authentic pastrami sandwich, The Hat absolutely delivers. The pastrami is incredibly tender, juicy, and piled so high that every bite is packed with flavor. My husband and I go there because he loves pastrami sandwiches. I'm not a fan but they do make a really tasty tuna salad sandwich and it's huge. the only complaint I have is that there is very little seating and the parking situation can be frustrating. The people aren't that nice either, I don't mean the workers, i mean the patrons. Maybe they're grumpy because they're hungry, but I've expereinced some rude people there. I suggest ordering ahead and take out, that way when you get home you can spread out all the fries and onion rings and eat in peace. read more

Obviously the pastrami here is excellent, but I'm a big fan of the fries. A nice texture on the outside with a tender inside. Thick, so you get a nice potato taste without the overwhelming spud situation of a steak fry. Also, you get a gigantic portion here. One order fed 5 of us with leftovers! Also, very clean here. Always a worker cleaning up. Tip: use your bag to get rid of the extra grease from your sandwich and fries by pressing the bag against the food. The Hat has is hands down one of the best places for pastrami in orange county. This place is usually packed all of the time but I have never had to wait more than 5 minutes for my food. The fries are to die for but definitely split them as a side order with someone else becasue between a sandwich and fries, you'll regret eating that much. This place is soooo good and it's open late. The pastrami chili cheese fries are the best. They are like $11, but you could easily feed 3 people at least on them alone. I believe they are open until 1am, which is awesome since the only thing you can get at that time is a fast food burger. Their sandwiches are really good too. I just visited The Hat for the first time, although they've been around for decades. The guy in front of me had an enormous plate of something and when I asked what's it called he says he calls it the "coronary". It turns out it was the chili cheese pastrami fries. I love every minute of my heart attack while eating at The Hat. This place is great in a very unhealthy way, but once again I love it. Chilli cheese fries are a must they are loaded and you will probably not be able to finish the whole thing. The pastrami can be added to anything and it is great. The pastrami sandwich is to die for. Holy dickballs. So I ate the pastrami dip, incredible, and shared fries and onion rings until I almost exploded. So full, was I, that I did not eat again till dinner the next evening. And want to know where I went for that? Yup. The Hat. Again. Chili burger, also excellent. The pastrami is outstanding, you can get in on your chili fries, which looks like an amazing idea. Pastrami Pastrami Pastrami! Skip the palin ole Pastrami sandwich, you can get that anytime. Go for the pastrami burger, it is to die for. Get chili fries with it and bring a friend because you are going to need some help. If you like hot, then get some yellow wax peppers on the side, they make the fries that much more exciting.
