Food is greasy and good for a late night snack. However, I wish they would be clear about their prices. Their prices listed end up with an extra charge for something (like cheese) and they don't communicate that it's NOT included. I would understand an extra charge of a dollar or something but it's about $3 more on fries. Also, your receipt you get doesn't give you any price breakdown. The Hat is the go-to place for pastrami. I always get the pastrami dip with mustard and pickles, although I would have liked a little bit more mustard and pickles on the sandwich this time. The sandwich has a ton of meat on it and there is always extra meat falling off of the sandwich to scoop up and eat with your fingers or a fork. The drive-in is always busy and there is almost always a line to order inside but the line moves fast and the food comes out fast also. Love this place I've been coming to the location on Central for years now I've been here in the United States for practically 27 years and I'm telling you out of those 27 probably 23 of them were spent in this restaurant sometimes even 2 to 3 nights a week. Such a home video energy when you walk in everybody's so nice to you smiles on their face. Looks like they love what they're doing. I don't even get me started on the food. Delicious. I have been to this location hundreds of times, but tonight was especially worthy of a good review (my first one for The Hat in Brea, CA). Earlier I stopped in for a chili dog to-go order. While there was still too much chili on the hot dog (despite my request for "easy on the chili"), it was still delicious nonetheless.This particular location is always clean, well-run, and provides an easy and comfortable atmosphere. Fast-forward to my return home (an hour away from Brea). I realized that I accidentally left my notebook on the counter at The Hat!! My notebook is filled with important notes, receipts, and several personal phone numbers. I freaked out, not knowing for certain if I left it at The Hat or two other stores I had stopped in to right before going to The Hat. But when I called, I spoke with Marco who immediately told me they had my notebook and that it was safe. He said no rush; he'd hold it until whenever I returned. I can't express enough how relieved I felt, and how grateful I was for Marco's kindness!! I returned just a few mins ago to pick up my notebook and I only wish that I had cash on me to in order to give Marco a tip that he deserved for his wonderful (and honest!!) service. So, if you read this Marco...again, I thank you for your help!! Not everyone in this world is honest, but you displayed your kind integrity and I greatly appreciate it!! After driving by multiple times, we finally decided to come here for a late dinner, which did not disappoint. We ended up over-ordering (which is the best way to do it): - Pastrami fries - Cheeseburger - Double cheeseburger - Chili tamales The pastrami fries were huge and they came out PIPING hot. It was topped with a generous portion of chili and pastrami...so good! The pastrami was not too salty or greasy, which I was a huge fan of. The chili was also perfectly seasoned. Surprisingly, I really enjoyed their cheeseburgers. It was a decent size, the patty was seasoned well, and it was also not heavily greasy. It also included fresh tomato, shredded lettuce, and onions. They even toast their buns! My favorite was the chili tamale. Topped with a huge spoonful of their delicious chili, their tamale had a nice spicy kick to it. I recommend getting it will all the toppings: pickles, tomatoes, and onions. Even though you only get one tamale to an order, this can easily be split into multiple meals because this was so heavy. If you walk in and see a long line, no worries, be patient, it's worth it. It also moves pretty quickly. Once you place your order, you'll be given a number. Find a nice spot and hangout. Soon, your cravings will be more than satisfied. Portions are very generous here, I'd say 2 to 3 people can split an order of chili fries. I took an order for myself personally haha.
