This was an overdue update! I came back for the first time in years. I've noticed that the prices still have not changed, but the pastrami has. It is now tender and thin sliced, but still good in its own way. Pastrami dip is still good and the sandwiches are just smaller than before. Pastrami fries are still amazing. The fries are fresh and they are very generous with the toppings. I miss the old pastrami, but I'm glad I can still enjoy how it's prepared now. read more

Came on a weekend around dinner time and the drive thru line was very long! We ended up ordering at the restaurant and waited about 15 minutes for our food. We ordered a few items: Pastrami Fries- They give a generous portion and definitely shareable between 2-3 people. This was the chili cheese fries with added pastrami on top. The Hat is normally good if not great, but lately it has been lackluster to the tastebuds! Last night on New Years Eve felt like the last time I'll eat for this location. The pastrami had no flavor whatsoever so ever, it was just wet. I don't know if they have a new cook or something? But the last month it's been TERRIBLE. Really bringing a lot of shame to this establishment and reputation. I will from on make the trip to the one on Valley or Glendora. So sad to taste is lost in Brea, CA. read more

This is one of the oldest fast places in the area opened in 1951. They have very good pastrami sandwiches. They also have plain chilli French fries. I always as juice with my pastrami. Overall good fast service. I think price is little high but it tastes good. Plenty of parking, clean restrooms. read more

This is my second time there. This time I split up pastrami dip sandwich, and I split the chili cheese fries. It was delicious comforting and perfect for splitting the portion sizes are huge. For a minute I was thinking of leaving a bad, frustrated review... but INSTEAD I was blown away by the perfect scenario of excellent customer service. What happened was; there was some kind of miscommunication / error when ordering and the food didn't come out as we were expecting. I didn't think the response from the staff, when I asked about it, was initially correct so I left the conversation very dissatisfied/frustrated. HOWEVER, moments later the manager came to our table, apologized for the error, and ask what can be done to make it right... and she did. She made it right. We were totally surprised because it was exactly what the "right thing to do" was; a model of excellent customer service when things do go as planned. The food is always good here and the place is always clean. We will definitely be back. read more

Food is greasy and good for a late night snack. However, I wish they would be clear about their prices. Their prices listed end up with an extra charge for something (like cheese) and they don't communicate that it's NOT included. I would understand an extra charge of a dollar or something but it's about $3 more on fries. Also, your receipt you get doesn't give you any price breakdown. Both times we feel confused what we get charged for and the lady at the drive thru seemed upset that we bothered her to ask. read more

The Hat is the go-to place for pastrami. I always get the pastrami dip with mustard and pickles, although I would have liked a little bit more mustard and pickles on the sandwich this time. The sandwich has a ton of meat on it and there is always extra meat falling off of the sandwich to scoop up and eat with your fingers or a fork. The drive-in is always busy and there is almost always a line to order inside but the line moves fast and the food comes out fast also. There is a lot of seating inside and there is also a nice patio if you prefer to eat outside. read more

I don't know what some of the low star givers here experienced, but I got a sandwich overflowing with meaty, slightly fatty, peppery goodness served up in a hurry. I had always heard of The Hat but had never been there until now. First off, the portion sizes are HUGE! My boyfriend and I only managed to eat about a quarter of our meal and took the rest to go. The service wasn't anything special; they were super busy and didn't have time for much interaction. You get what you pay for here. However, if you love pastrami, this is definitely the place to go! I waited about 15 minutes here in the drive thru. I ordered a pastrami burger and it was pretty good! I've been here before and the food is always good. When I got to the window the worker seemed annoyed and was kind of rude.... When handing my card back he was wearing gloves and dropped it and in a very annoyed tone says "oh my god" then shuts the window. Not the best experience. I'll do us both a favor and decide not to return. read more

For those people trying to lose weight, get in shape, or are generally health conscious, you really should steer clear of The Hat because it'll set you back 5 lbs. For the rest of us, welcome to The Hat. As you can probably surmise from the other reviews, the Pastrami Dip and chili cheese fries are definitely the thing to get here. I've had the Beef Dip before too, and it wasn't bad, but it pales in comparison to it's amazing cousin the Pastrami Dip. The bread is soft, the pastrami is tender, greasy, and salty, what more could you really ask for? An order of chili cheese fries is basically a mountain of chili cheese fries stuffed into a little tray, which you can choose to top with...dare I say it, MORE PASTRAMI!! Yes, for a couple bucks more, you can order a mountain of chili cheese fries, covered in a mountain of pastrami. While it's not on the menu, you can still order and that's pretty much what I do every time I go. I would recommend that, unless you can eat in quantities that put bears to shame, you split the pastrami chili cheese fries with someone because it is a lot of food. Sadly, I can't really vouch for the rest of the their menu because I always make a beeline for the chili cheese fries topped with pastrami, although I make an occasional detour for some orange bang. Besides the food, the staff is always nice whenever I go (though it does get pretty hectic around lunch time), there's a good amount of indoor and outdoor seating (with some larger booths towards the back for larger groups), and refills on drinks are free which is good because you're probably going to need a couple refills with all the meaty-cheesy saltiness that's going on. read more

If I could give The Hat ten stars, I would! The pastrami here is simply the best I've ever had. It literally melts in your mouth and pairs perfectly with the French dip broth. I've visited several locations, and each one is consistently amazing. The customer service is always fantastic, the pricing is reasonable, and there's plenty of seating. The bread is perfectly soft, complementing the incredible pastrami in a way that's hard to describe. It's truly the best pastrami out there, leaving you craving and wanting more after every bite. I've also tried their burgers and chili cheese fries, which are both 10 out of 10. If you're looking for an unforgettable dining experience, The Hat is the place to go. We went on a Friday evening and the place was packed! after ordering (for the two of us we paid $22.46 including tax) and finding a spot to sit we chatted for a few minutes and our number was called, pretty quick considering how busy they were. Ordered the pastrami fries and onion rings here and they give you gigantic portions. Unless you are a food beast, you will not be able to finish the pastrami fries on your own. At least for the time I've been there, it took us 3 to 4 people to finish the fries. Onion rings are the bomb here. Not only do they give you a bag full of those onion rings, they're perfectly crispy and the onion rings within them are able to be cleanly bitten off. The Hat always delivers! We've been coming here for years. We usually drive thru but decided to eat in recently. Parking is always easy here, tons available. The order line was pretty short, but after we ordered it grew to at least 10 people, but the staff opened a second register and it went super fast. The staff here are amazing! Very kind and efficient! Now the food.. if you've never been to The Hat before, you have to try the chili cheese fries! They're easily shared between 2-4 people. The pastrami is good, the burgers are good, and you need to try the cherry coke! I highly recommend The Hat and will keep coming back here! read more

Came in for a late dinner with a friend. The restaurant was fairly clean and I liked its retro look. The food there was pretty good. The Pastrami Dip Sandwich was very good and the meat was seasoned just right. It was also well-portioned; it definitely is worth its $6.99 price. I'd recommend it. My friend and I also ordered the chili cheese fries which were HUGE. I'm pretty sure it would be sufficient for 4 people. Overall, it's a great place to go if you want if you want a lot of food at a decent price. I'm not a fan but they do make a really tasty tuna salad sandwich and it's huge. the only complaint I have is that there is very little seating and the parking situation can be frustrating. The people aren't that nice either, I don't mean the workers, i mean the patrons. Maybe they're grumpy because they're hungry, but I've expereinced some rude people there. Obviously the pastrami here is excellent, but I'm a big fan of the fries. A nice texture on the outside with a tender inside. Thick, so you get a nice potato taste without the overwhelming spud situation of a steak fry. Also, you get a gigantic portion here. One order fed 5 of us with leftovers! Also, very clean here. Always a worker cleaning up. Tip: use your bag to get rid of the extra grease from your sandwich and fries by pressing the bag against the food. I feel like they're a little overpriced, and they don't include any sides, so fries are extra. $17 for just one burger seems like a lot to me. Inside the place is ok. We went on a very hot day and it was kinda warm inside. Not sure I'd come back here anytime soon. Not worth the price tag.

You order at the front, and a staff member brings the food over to your table. We were about to eat inside their patio while it was a little chilly, but some indoor booths opened up for us. We both got the bacon burrito ($14). This is a large breakfast burrito with chopped bacon, two scrambled eggs, hash browns, and cheese wrapped in a flour tortilla. You can pick either red or green salsa. I liked the green salsa as it had a good balance of spice and flavor. The burrito has a lot of hash browns, which can overpower the overall flavor and other ingredients. The breakfast burrito seemed a little pricy, but the portion size made up for it. I even took a small remnant of leftovers home.

I visited Brea's Best Burgers for the first time and although I enjoyed my burger, I am disappointed by a single worker who ruined my experience. Ordering was easy with the female cashier. I didn't have to wait long for my hamburger. Once I saw it come from the back kitchen, I walked to the front window to wait for the male staff member in the middle kitchen to put it in a paper bag. While I stood at the front window, I noticed a female worker preparing either chili cheese or sweet potato fries in the back kitchen...and her colleague likely male who was standing to her left grabbed fries from the dish she was arranging. I didn't see the colleague put the fries in his mouth because by then I had to pick up my burger and the window slot doesn't allow me to see their bodies above their shoulder but the worker definitely dug his fingers into the customer's fries while the female worker didn't stop him and she continued to drizzle white sauce onto the fries. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL AND UNHYGIENIC for a worker to take a piece from a customer's order to likely consume himself. To be fair, even though I didn't watch long enough to see him put fries in his mouth, the way he put his hands on the fries didn't look like he was putting back fries that may have fallen off the plate onto their plating area, he definitely was trying to pull fries deep in the pile to get one that was drenched in sauce. I hope the owner sees this and trains staff better. I've attached a receipt for the owner to review the footage. Receipt timestamp is an hour behind... Receipt says 5:08 but my visit was 6:08. Beaides that, burger was good and I liked the char of the patty.

The food is always tasty...from the pepperoni and works pizzas to the tri-tip and salmon - all delicious. We are often helped by Santee - he is friendly, quick and helpful. He always checks to see if we need anything else and never forgets to bring me my ranch dressing. If ever in the area, I would try this Stonefire Grill. The ends of the baby back ribs look as if they had been sitting out for awhile and were luke warm. I love tri tip medium rare but what came out was well done and cold. Not cool, cold!! I sent it back and what was the replacement was medium well and barely warm. The bread sticks were cold as well. At least the chicken was warm. Unfortunately when I brought this upto the manager she just offered to replace the tru tip and bread sticks. Nothing for ruining my experience. I see why this isn't rated very high
