I did have to send my French toast back due to a long hairI found in it but the fresh one was great- got it with sausage and it was all amazing! Our first return to inside dining after the WuFlu inconveniences. They have separated the eating tables by designating which places are to be used and which are not to be used. The capacity looks to be down to less than 50% and in one way, it certainly speeds up the service. We enjoyed our breakfasts and the food was good, hot and fresh. In counterpoint to the old saw, sometimes familiarity breeds respect. That is true for my husband and me for The Griddle. We have been in several times over the last year for a late breakfast or quick lunch. During that time the service continues to be the weak spot for consistency and professionalism, but the food is always good and the place has a locals "come one and all" feel.. MENU CHANGE & FOOD: About a month ago they changed the breakfast and lunch menus. Instead of a huge, fold out, multipage menu they've pared it down to two oversized pages and eliminated some items and added some new ones. We discovered this when we popped in for lunch last month to have one of our favorite things, the house made quinoa veggie burger, to find it had met its' end with the menu revamp. But we were happy to find a new house made lamb burger, using Idaho lamb, and with a tzatziki style sauce is on the menu and they graciously substituted dry rye toast for the croissant style or brioche style bun. New menu sides also have some Middle Eastern flair, like a tabboleh style quinoa salad and an interesting salad using raw sweet potato. The breakfast menu has been pared back too, but our favorites there remain. And they always, always get my poached eggs right, exactly how I order them "hard as golf balls" which is more difficult for a kitchen to do than one might imagine. That they have real rye bread for toast and they never, ever butter it when my hubby asks for it dry draws applause from him. Applause too that their jam is in a jam jar delivered to the table, on request, not out of a package. But some things did get the ax in the menu redux. If your favs were among them, another door may open in the new adds to the menu. HOURS: Open for breakfast and lunch only, they close at 2:00, we have found the best way to avoid either a wait for tables or waiting on food from a too busy kitchen is to avoid weekends and peak breakfast time on every day of the week. VIBE: The space is a big one, light and bright with booths lining window walls and tables and chairs in the middle of the room. If I could waive a magic wand it would be to remove a table or two or reposition a table or two in the middle of the room because there are times when diners are so closely sat it is a tight gauntlet to get from the dining space to the restroom. (Let's face it. All that coffee at breakfast and away one goes.) Outdoor seating on a patio is possible, although we've never tried it. THIS N THAT: 1) PARKING: Good amount in the associated lot. 2) ACCESSIBILITY: A couple of spots of accessible parking, too few to meet Federal law and State code, are in the parking lot. (This is the mall owners error, not the restaurant owners.) Level in the door and throughout. The loo is accessible too. Although I imagine a person using a wheelchair would find it between difficult and impossible to get from the dining to the loo given spacing of chairs at full house. Keeping those aisleways 36" clear (ADA rules) for path of travel is the owner's issue. Since she, like me, has MS I imagine she may think of that eventually. The equal access law that requires it is 25 years old this July. It is time to get this ADA stuff right. read more

I've been here several times. The food is really good. However, despite having several servers staffed, the service we received was awful. It took about 15 minutes before our server took any drink orders, and when she did, it was only for two of four people in our party. Another 10 minutes went by before the other two got to order drinks, which only happened because we notified her that our kids wanted something to drink when she brought us our drinks. Meanwhile, we watched as people sat themselves, got drinks and food before our server took our food order. Decided to give the griddle a second chance like we do most of the places we go to. If this place is popular I don't know why. Although my wife loves the stuffed French toast, again, my food was cold. Ordered the eggs Benedict and the hashbrowns were literally cold, I don't know why they can't serve warm food here. The eggs Benedict comes with hardly any hollandaise sauce to even cover the two poached eggs and when you ask for more they will charge you for a side. Was so excited to try this breakfast / lunch spot and it truly disappointed. The staff was friendly and great but the food was so bad. Just bland, plain, no flavor no nothing. For the price it was a waste of money. The cinnamon roll was plain and barely tasted like anything resembling cinnamon, the frosting was basically plain cream cheese. The chicken friend steak was rubbery, plain and more like pan seared crappy meat. It was not a true chicken fried steak. But it didn't even come close to anything I would call a chicken friend steak. The Griddle is one of our favorite breakfast spots. With a full breakfast AND lunch menu (and healthy options to boot!), it's one of our go-to spots when we're trying to look for something for everyone. Food: I've tried many Griddle items, and my favorites include their oatmeal (which comes plain or with a variety of toppings) and their egg white omelets. The oats are great because it's not a HUGE portion, so you can eat the entire bowl along with a side of protein like eggs and not feel like you've just stuffed yourself silly. The omelets are made with 3 eggs, and they don't upcharge for egg white only omelets. My favorite is the "make your own" so you can add in any 3 ingredients you want! If you like hashbrowns, specify if you'd like them crispy. They can sometimes come out a little soft. Also, the crepes (amazing cream cheese filling) and hotcakes (light and fluffy) are to die for TRY THEIR HOUSEMADE JAMS! Amazing!! Drinks: House-squeezed orange juice, full espresso bar, endless coffee refills and yummy chocolate milk. No complaints! Atmosphere: It's a very open and bright restaurant. They have a mixture of booths & tables to accommodate all sizes of eating parties. The outdoor seating in the summer is very nice. They also (which I LOVE) have a fireplace as you enter that you can warm yourself by as you wait for a table. The Overland location seems to have more seating than the Eagle one, so we go to that spot if we're looking to get in and out, but you sure can't beat the Eagle one for the brightness and airy atmosphere. Service: So fast and friendly! They are always coming around to refill your coffee and don't question when you make wacky meal requests (as I often do!). Just stumbled upon this place and so glad we did! The warm, friendly service, cleanliness and the tasty food truly got our day off to a great start! Homemade OJJ, homemade salsa and jams, and they really know how to cook eggs....perfectly fluffy and not dry. Coffee and water were never empty either. We were met with big smiles and morning greetings upon entering, and Leah our server, was a joy. Probably one of our top 3 breakfasts we've ever had, and we're breakfast people. This place is really good for diner food. The wait at 11am on a Saturday was only about 15 minutes. There was a small table just inside the door with coffee and cups while you wait, very nice touch. The orange juice is fresh squeezed and absolutely delicious. The squeezing machines are on display in the eating area. The coffee was decent as well. I got the special of the day, the LocoMoco. Really tasty gravy and the egg was cooked just right. The rice was a little undercooked and the Chuck patty a little over cooked. All in all 4/5 for that meal. The wife got Chilaques which was pretty remarkable. Good sauce, crispy chips, tasty cheese crumbles, and the guac was fantastic. The one loss was the time it took for the food to come out, but they were diligent in keeping drinks full and let us know ahead of time that one of the grill tops was down and it would take a little longer than expected. read more

However, we visited this past Saturday, got seated quickly in a visible place and sat there for a good ten minutes before we left. Absolutely no one came by our table to offer us coffee, water or if we wanted to order even though servers were bussing tables all around us. Even the host walked by several times and he must have noticed we hadn't been served. I can see now why The Griddle in Eagle gets only 3 stars. By the way, the COVID excuse doesn't work anymore. There were lots of people working there bustling around and the place wasn't full. The service lacked. We ended up going to Bacon Boise. Great spot, great service and great breakfast. read more
