Salmon
Ken K.

We've been to this location as three different restaurants. It's a bit confusing. We were greeted and everyone is friendly. The green room is as stated: a room on the side of the building. Nicely decorated with a small number of dining tables. They offered a glass of champagne at our seats, which was a nice extra. I'm not sure why it was served in wine glasses instead of flutes. Our tuna appetizer didn't seem to be the freshest. A hair was found, which wasn't pleasing. Mistakes happen, though, and I don't hold that against them. The main courses were medium. The sliders were overcooked and had little flavor. The salmon could have been prepared better. Nice crust, but the salmon was undercooked To sum things up, I think the menu and the dishes can be improved. Swap out the tables with ones where you can put your legs under. Bagging my knees to get close to the table isn't enjoyable. Lastly, add sound dampening to the ceiling. The small enclosed space gets loud once there's more than six people in there.

This room was so classy, elegant, and beautiful. The food was amazing. The service was also amazing. Everyone was so friendly and kind. They really outdid themselves with this one. If I could give more than five stars, I would.

Being recognized among the 25 best new restaurants in the country certainly caught our attention, and we were curious to discover what made this Houston restaurant so special. We arrived with high expectations, and I can confidently say that the experience did not disappoint. The first thing that stood out wasn't the food, but the people and the atmosphere. From the moment we walked through the door until we left, the hospitality was extraordinary. Our server, Jorge, was wonderful, but what truly impressed us was how that same level of warmth, professionalism, and attentiveness extended to the entire staff. Everyone made us feel genuinely welcome, something that speaks volumes about the restaurant's commitment to hospitality. The atmosphere complemented the experience perfectly. The restaurant had a lively, welcoming energy, with great music playing at just the right volume, loud enough to enjoy but never interfering with conversation. It's those thoughtful details, combined with exceptional service, that make a dining experience truly memorable. Then came the food, and this is where the experience became even more interesting. We started with the Savory Scallion Waffle with Fried Orange Chicken, and what an incredible combination of flavors! The chicken was cooked to perfection, with a beautifully crispy exterior that reminded me of traditional Southern fried chicken. But what really elevated the dish was the orange sauce. Its sweet and tangy character complemented the savory chicken beautifully, creating a combination that felt both familiar and surprisingly different. The scallion waffle was equally impressive. It had everything a properly prepared waffle should have: a lightly crispy, golden exterior, a soft and tender interior, and plenty of flavor. What made the dish exceptional was the perfect balance between savory and sweet. The richness of the fried chicken, the sweetness and acidity of the orange sauce, and the savory notes of the waffle worked together in complete harmony. Nothing overpowered anything else. Every component complemented the others, making this a truly memorable interpretation of chicken and waffles. Next came the Chilled Noodles, a dish that immediately caught our attention because, unlike the noodle dishes we're accustomed to, these were served cold. It was an interesting change, but one that worked beautifully. The flavors were excellent, delivering everything you would expect from a great noodle dish, with the ginger and scallion adding a wonderful savory character. However, what really stood out to both of us were the pieces of pickled shiitake mushrooms. Their earthy, rich flavor, combined with a subtle tanginess, added an unexpected dimension to the noodles. It's amazing how one ingredient can elevate an entire dish, and in this case, the mushrooms did exactly that. What initially seemed like an unusual choice turned into another pleasant surprise. Of course, no brunch would be complete without a couple of good cocktails, so we ordered a Mimosa and a Bloody Mary. Both were very good, but the Mimosa particularly stood out. It was well prepared, refreshing, and had a generous pour of alcohol. They certainly didn't skimp on the champagne! It had just the right balance of flavor and strength, making it clear that Agnes & Sherman takes its cocktails just as seriously as its food. A great complement to an already excellent brunch. Just when we thought we had experienced all the culinary surprises of the afternoon, dessert arrived. We ordered the Pandan Nice Cream Sundae, and this was probably our most unexpected discovery. Nice cream is a plant-based alternative to traditional ice cream, and I wasn't entirely sure what to expect from a vegan frozen dessert. To our surprise, it was incredibly flavorful, wonderfully light, and refreshing. The pandan brought a delicate, distinctive flavor that made the dessert feel different from a traditional ice cream sundae. It was satisfying without feeling heavy or overly rich, making it the perfect way to finish brunch. Definitely a pleasant surprise and something we would happily order again. The restaurant was packed during brunch, so I would strongly recommend making a reservation in advance. Also, be prepared for a little challenge when it comes to parking. There was no valet service available, and finding street parking can be difficult, especially during busy hours. My advice is to arrive a little early and allow yourself extra time to find a spot. Looking back at our visit, what impressed me most was how everything came together. The extraordinary hospitality made us feel welcome from beginni

My waiter was great - very friendly and offered a lot of great recommendations. I had a half portion of the scallion waffle, the crab rangoon dip, and the chilled noodles. They were all fantastic, but I think my favorite was the chilled noodles. It was so simple, but so tasty. It was exactly what I had wanted after a week of Texas BBQ! For dessert, I had the banoffee pie, which was really nice. The banana cream part was so smooth and tasty.

My husband arrived earlier than we did and was able to sit at the bar for a drink. The shrimp was close to a ceviche and was super fresh and flavorful. The charred cabbage had a delightful crunch and the tofu Caesar dressing was delightful. We opted out of dessert, since we were quite full, but they had several items that looked quite good. The menu was an interesting blend of Asian American and New American flavors. Service was excellent and our waitress was spectacular in her recommendations.

We went around 6 p.m. on a weekday, and they had a steady flow of business. It's a small restaurant with a small parking lot, but they do have an additional lot across the street. We were greeted right away and seated immediately. Our waiter was also tending the bar. He was incredibly friendly and working hard, but because he seemed to be juggling so much on his own, service was on the slower side. For the appetizer, we ordered the Crispy Fried Oysters & Brussels, and I got the redfish for my entrée. The Brussels sprouts were flash-fried perfectly, and I loved the sweetness of the chili honey glaze. The oysters had a nice crispy coating, but I found them to be a little bland. The redfish, though, was absolutely the star of the meal. I cleaned my plate. It was served with Hoppin' John and a lemon butter sauce. I had never heard of Hoppin' John before, but it's essentially a Southern rice-and-bean dish, and paired with that lemon butter, it was so flavorful. It complemented the fish perfectly.

It is tiny and packed tight inside, but they do have patio seating as well. Parking is very limited, but you can find street parking nearby. Reservations are highly recommended but walk ins are welcome. We had a few people taking care of us that night and they were all great. I was between a few items and they were very helpful in steering me in the right direction. We started off with a few bottles of wine to get the night started. From what I understand, their wine list is one of the things they are known for. Your only other option for an adult beverage is limited options of canned or bottled beers. I didn't really have a say in the wine we shared, but what we had was delicious and paired nicely with the items we ordered. For starters, we went with the highly recommended bread service. Get this! This bread was so good. I doubt they make it as ordered, but it came out like it was fresh out of the oven. It was a nice crusty bread with a fluffy interior served on a cutting board with a huge smear of miso butter. We then went with the Crispy Cauliflower which was one of my favorite dishes of the night. It was smothered in a gochujang aioli and reminded me of a general tso chicken or something. Very good. Thai Chili Rubs was next and these were so good as well. I'm a sucker for all the Asian flavor profiles and this hit that. For my entree, I ended up with the Pork Chop w/ Chutney. This was a huge chop on a layer of apple sauce and a wonderful chutney that contrasted the sweet sauce. Every layer worked well together. I will say the pork chop was just slightly over cooked, in some parts. It also came with green beans which was cooked just right. No room for dessert as we had another party to head to. Overall, I'm glad my friends picked this spot for their birthday celebration. I am now in the know about this place and will consider coming back in the future.

The space was a little loud, but the lighting and aesthetic were nice, and the facility seemed well maintained. The parking lot is a bit small, so you may have to park on the street and walk during peak hours. The cocktails were great (I had a sidecar, she had a ruby garden). I would describe most of the dishes as "good, not amazing", however the carrot cavatelli and the chocolate cremaux were exceptional. If all of the dishes had been of the same caliber as those two, then I would easily give 5 stars. That being said, since we partook of the restaurant week menu, I can't comment on the standard menu. The restaurant week price was notably cheaper ($55 compared to 85$ typically), and I'm not completely convinced it would be worth the extra $30 each. However, we will be giving the regular menu a try in the future, and we would certainly recommend this as a place to check out.

We found ourselves there at lunchtime and hungry this Sunday afternoon and decided to peek inside and see if it might be an option. We discovered it to be much larger than we thought and it had a beautiful ambiance. We were asked to seat ourselves and brought menus almost immediately. This wasn't just a sandwich shop; they had a surprisingly full menu. We ordered two sandwiches, chicken salad and a BLT. One came with fries and the other with "house-made chips." Everything was absolutely delicious and presented as if they'd been prepared by a gourmet chef. The service was great. The restroom was spotless. I only wish this place was located closer to home so that we could explore more of their menu. Reading some of the negative comments here, I don't think they are quite fair. I was also told that the green beans were "just fried in a little bit of olive oil", yet they came out on my plate in a brown sauce. Hmm. Our server seemed to be very nice to a couple tables around us but not so much with us. She also appeared to be the only staff person in the restaurant out on the floor. I overheard other people calling her Shandy and it turned out she was the owner! I was appalled! I didn't find that at Shandy's :( My mom provided feedback to the owner after our meal and the owner indicated to my mom that my mom was the only person to ever give her this type of feedback. After reading other reviews, it appears that I am not the only one who has been made to feel this way.
