The service was OK. we were seated quickly but had to wait over 30 minutes to order. The food was awful. The worst we have ever had. The baked haddock was obviously microwaved. This was recommended by my hotel owner. I was a bit skeptical considering a gay music lounge bar upstairs. We met a friend at the ground floor bar and we immediately became friends with the 2 very friendly bartenders. They made us good drinks and we eventually moved into the dining room at a nice booth. We all decided to share 3 entrees. No disappointments. We had an excellent Prime Rib and a perfectly cooked Risotto, very tasty. I don't recall the other dish we shared. I have been going to what is known as "the porch" for over 30 years and the current owner Scottie Vogel that is entering his second year of ownership, has knocked it out of the park with renovations making it fresh and current. Whether you are downstairs at the bar or in the restaurant the staff are all exceptional and very accommodating. As far as the food whether you were looking for, light fare, full meals the food is always excellent... they have their own refrigerated truck and go daily to get fresh seafood. On the second floor, there is the world famous piano bar with extraordinary talented pianist. Most piano bars do not allow you to sing, this is one of the best piano bars that encourage the patrons to sing anything from Billy Joel to show tunes! After a day on the beach, we wanted something hearty and delicious. My friend loves their Chicken Under Brick so we decided to go there for drinks and food. I got the blue cheese mussels ($11) and spicy fried brussel sprouts ($4). The mussels portion was pretty generous for an appetizer. The mussels came with small pieces of sausage and tomatoes and fresh, warm bread to dip into the broth. The brussel sprouts were too salty but a couple of pieces were nice and crunchy. I also tried a few bites of the watermelon gazpacho which was sweet and slightly spicy but nothing special. It also could have been colder. This is a fun, fun, fun place... We always come here at least 2 times when we are in Maine for the month of August... Love the old time music and show tunes they play on the second floor. I've been going to the Front Porch for years for the piano bar upstairs, but last weekend was the first time I ever sat downstairs for dinner and wow have I missed out all these years! I went with a group of 8 and all of our meals were fantastic and the service was exemplary. Pretty atmosphere downstairs with lights and it was even busy this time of year in the off season in February. I would highly recommend going for dinner, apps, or going to sit at the bar. My fiancé and I visited this past Friday night for our anniversary dinner with high hopes. She had been there before and vouched that it had good food. Well, you can tell by my rating that it was not. We started with calamari which had absolutely no flavor. We had to salt and pepper the dish to get any semblance of taste. This theme continued with our entrees where she had to pour salt and pepper on her chicken and I had to ask for a side cup of red sauce (which was served to me cold) to dunk my meatball panini in because it was incredibly bland and dry. My fiancé and I don't typically use salt when we eat so the mere fact we had to put it on everything says a lot. I gave this place two stars because we did not have to wait for our seats however if we had to wait, it would have definitely been a one star. Maybe they were having an off night because there was an auction upstairs but I will never go back to find out. read more

FALSE ADVERTISING!! Unfortunately we typically have amazing experiences at the Front Porch but were baited and switched tonight. FP advertises to text for tickets to Disco night with Kim Kuzma, which we have been to many times, but upon arrival was told this was a "first come first serve" show. See attached poster for Disco Night, with note to text 207-275-4940 for tickets, and text chain with owner/partner Johnny confirming tickets. Upon arrival, it was standing room only - which we would have been ok with if we were told! As a member of the hospitality industry I understand the need to fill a house on a Monday night, but there were many opportunities to explain the true situation. With talking to Johnny he said, "I "f'ed up" and did not offer any assistance. Wish we had a better experience to write home about but not today. Great place to eat. My wife and I never order the same meal but the reviews of the lobster risotto convinced us. It is really unbelievably good and there is plenty of it. We had to bring some home. Our waiter Jordan was great and very helpful with local tips on parking etc. upstairs is the piano bar and a bit of a club scene. If you want a normal quiet dinner eat downstairs. My absolute favorite....every time I am in Ogunquit I plan several nights at the piano bar. Always great.

Older male server was a huge asshole last night... yelled at my party for being "in the way". It was busy and nowhere to stand and we moved a few different times and were still in the way. They should probably take a better head count because we had to wait to be allowed in anyway. If it's already at full capacity than don't let more people in. This server lost his shit at us and didn't even apologize! He said some pretty messed up stuff and I have never been disrespected like that at a bar/restaurant before. He proceeded to slam a tray full of dishes in the sink and continued to scream at us behind the bar. He was very nasty and threatened to kick us out. He kept running his mouth at us after the fact and looked like he wanted to start a fight. It's unfortunate because we had a really good time the night before at this establishment. I understand it was busy, but to lose your cool like that and to embarrass someone like that is totally uncalled for. Will not be coming here ever again, but I realize they won't care. read more

However my family has been to the upstairs piano bar numerous times and they all agree that it's a great time! So I'll give it an extra star for that. I ordered the fried chicken sandwich with hot sauce on it but wasn't a big fan, the chicken itself was good, but the hot sauce was not the least bit spicy. I have vacationed in Ogunquit for many years and had only stopped here for a drink until this year. Somehow I had the impression it might be another over priced and centrally located tourist trap similar others in Ogunquit that survive based solely on their location. I WAS WRONG! They don't take reservations, but we arrived between 6:00 and 7:00 and 6 of us were seated immediately. We went here twice during our trip. Steak goat cheese and arugula flatbread was delicious. The steak was cooked perfectly and obviously to order. Arugula was fresh and peppery and the creamy goat cheese tied it together nicely. Heirloom tomato and sausage flatbread was also very good. Crispy fresh flat bread with crumbled sausage and cheese. Exactly as expected. The two dishes that won everyone's hearts were the lobster risotto and the seafood carbonara. The lobster risotto was perfectly al dente, creamy and cheesy. Yes, cheese and fish, but it works. Generous amounts of Perfectly sweet tender lobster tops the dish and is definitely the star. A great way to enjoy fresh Maine lobster. The cheesy risotto supports the lobster without getting in the way of the sweet subtle flavor. The seafood carbonara though less of a carbonara sauce and more of a cheesy (yes cheese and fish again) cream sherry sauce is one that I will try to recreate at home. Penne pasta, rendered prosciutto, scallops, and shrimp in a cheesy cream sauce with a hint of sherry. This dish was so good! The scallops were sweet and seared to perfection. Huge shrimp also perfectly cooked. We loved this pasta dish. I have to say how nice it is when a restaurant delivers on what they describe on the menu. So often things look great on the menu but not on the plate. The Front Porch delivers. Service was prompt and attentive. read more

If no stars were an option that's what you should expect now from a sadly ignored iconic piano bar gone bachelorette nightmare. The only bright in dim venue is the fabulous Kim Kuzma who deserves 10 stars for being a truly talented 1970's pied piper Goddess. I would suggest the venue across the street steal her, and create a truly fabulous alternative to a T-dance. If you go to the porch and you must just to see Kim, don't order anything beyond beer or wine, they do not know how to mix a drink. Lastly I would recommend eating before you go. read more

We have been vacationing in Ogunquit for over 25 years. The Front Porch was probably our favorite place to go to eat. We have tried it numerous times since changing owners and each time has been a disappointment. From the folks at the door to the quality of the food it has declined greatly. Our last visit this July was an epic fail. I ordered the pork chop which came overcooked and was inedible. The fried calamari was swimming in grease and unappealing. My partner had the lobster risotto which he said was ok. The risotto tasty, the lobster a bit rubbery. The dining room floor was a mess and staff just seemed to ignore dropped trash on floor. It felt as if we were in a greasy spoon diner. Our waitress offered to bring a manager over to discuss my porkchop but I declined. We gave it numerous tries but are done with TFP for meals. What a fun Saturday night! It almost felt like a preCovid experience. To start with, the hostess was so friendly and super patient with the long line of people. Our dinner downstairs was delicious -I had the Bang Bang Shrimp and the Harvest Salad with Salmon. My husband had the Haddock Scampi. Both were really good and large portions. Our waitress was very excellent. Then we went upstairs! Had some great cocktails. We saw 2 different piano players. Just got there for the end of the first one so I don't know her name but she was terrific. Keith Belanger played next and he was awesome. Such a great entertainer - really funny and engaging with the crowd. The absolute best part of the night was our server, RICHARD, an entertainer himself!! He made the whole experience memorable! Super campy piano bar. I'd say gay (in the best possible way) but why be redundant. The drinks are great. The food is very good. But go upstairs for the fun atmosphere. Lots of singing and happy people. Who could ask for more! If you want something a bit quieter then stay on the 1st floor bar or separate restaurant area. They are great too!! My wife and I went to the Front Porch on 7/22/21 and went upstairs to see the piano show. I was surprised to see how rude the pianist Robert Dionne was to some of the guests, but I thought it might be part of his act. My wife, who is Asian, put $20 in an envelope and requested a song - Physical by Olivia Newton John. Robert was incredibly rude to her, claiming he didn't know it and couldn't find it. Then, he was incredibly condescending, stating that she wrote the title down wrong. It's hard to believe a professional musician wouldn't know a fairly popular song or have the wherewithal to figure it out. He finally figured it out, but played about 30 seconds of it. My wife felt like she was discriminated against because she didn't look or act like the drunk white old ladies in attendance, and Robert certainly did nothing to make her feel as welcome as the other patrons. It is very sad that an establishment like this, which offers a place of refuge for people who are marginalized and often targeted for discrimination, has made a woman feel unwelcomed and uncomfortable merely because she doesn't look like 99% of the rest of the patrons. Quite frankly, Robert isn't all that good either, playing predictable songs with little to no enthusiasm. He should better understand that he is a paid performer and treat people who he makes a living off of with respect, especially those that are different from him. He is a poor reflection on this establishment. The servers however, were very good. I visit Ogunquit every year, but will never go back. read more
