This is my favorite spot in Austin to hang out and finish work on my computer, catch up with friends, or grab a beer. They always have a great selection of beers on tap, the service is top-notch, and the food is delicious. It's a tucked-away "dive" bar in the middle of East Austin and very unassuming in the best way possible. The only thing I would change is adding merch to their offerings! read more

I had just come from a week long conference in town, and I was new to the area. I needed a spot to grab a drink and a bite. Enter The Front Page. It has a great sandwich menu with some salads as well. I ordered the margarita, and the best turkey sandwich I've ever had! I think the owner or manager was there, and he helped in selecting the sandwich. He was also really chatty and helpful in some other recommendations around town as well. The Front Page is located in what looks like a fairly new development. If I had more time, I would have explored what else was back here! Literally the best bar in EATX. These guys make you feel like you're home. Whether you stop in for a quick pint or stumble upon one of the many events they host on a regular basis. Great sandwiches (rumor is...they make their own bread, just ask Chuck) and better drinks and beer selection. Old school bar with a new school and warm atmosphere. Visited here after just arriving in Austin. I was looking for place to get a decent, healthy meal. Looked at their website, hours and menu and this place looked perfect. When I got there, they were not serving food. There was only staff at the bar and they were terrible. They looked up briefly as we walked in, but said nothing, not even a hello, then ignored us. The place was dead with only one table of customers. I am not surprised. Needless to say, we did not bother staying. Don't come here. Very disappointing and false advertising. read more

Chill, not too crowded (when I go), not too loud or bright, bartenders who have such amazing situational awareness and know their audience, and good variety of beers on tap/full bar. We decided to cycle the south walnut trail and this spot was close by so we stopped and walked in. Hard to find when cycling and trying to navigate. We walked in to the wrong location, it was in the far back, not the middle. The a/c felt great. There was a place to strap down our bikes. Most everyone decided to eat outside, so did we. They had board games inside which is cool. The music was ok. They had a food and beer menu. The bar tender made a sammich suggestion and I took it. I got the Italian roll and a strawberry abita beer. $8 and I was full and happy. So was my riding partner. We both agreed we would come again. read more

I stopped in one afternoon for a sandwich and to watch a game. I found it very friendly with several regulars, a good beer selection and a tasty sandwich. There are several screens and the bartender was extremely friendly and accommodating. It's not a large place and the screens are in normal size TVs but that also makes it feel fairly homey. I think the bar is there place to be if you come in alone. It's easy to strike up a conversation and find some true fans. read more

The pub is cozy, there was bossa nova music playing early on sunday which was lovely, there's parking. There are board games and the bartender was very sweet. I had a roast beef sandwich which happened to be the daily special, it was tiny (probably the size of one of my dainty little palms) and expensive ($11). Not worth the price at all. None of the sandwiches come with any sides and there's no option to add proteins to any of the salads. I definitely left hungry and would probably only have drink there in the future. read more

This place has been on my bookmarks since I saw it open and finally was in the area so stopped by. The area it's located is still upcoming, but very nice and modern. Walking up, it's very cute and easy to find. The atmosphere is great inside and still smells new! There is a bar, and tables away from the bar. We came here to eat and did just that! I ordered the ham and cheese on sourdough, and it was pretty good! I don't like mayo, but just left it on and it wasn't bad all together. My boyfriend got the turkey sandwich on a hoagie and the chutney on it tasted like horseradish....yuck! But hey you never know until you try right! We had never had it before so it was something new, but definitely didn't like. Unfortunately the sandwiches aren't served with chips or fries, but every place is different! We also ordered a 10 oz beer each and one of the gentlemen at the bar was very helpful with picking me something I liked. Staff is wonderful! The bacon was chewy and stale, the chicken was cold and gelatinous, and the dressing was cloyingly sweet. I didn't finish the Cobb and threw the other away. This was a $40 order of salad. So I just recently started a new job in the area, and had been exploring new lunch spots. I happened upon this place and sat at the bar to have lunch. I ordered a Bloody Mary first and it was delishhh. The bartender is so friendly and nice to talk to. I ordered the half southern Italian sandwich and the half Caesar salad combo. Soooo good! The sandwich had just the right kick and was toasted nicely. I liked everything so much that I went back two days in a row. Definitely one of my fave lunch spots now. read more

This new spot is in a great location with tons of space both indoors and outdoors. Inside is a bit dark with more of a dive bar feel so we chose to sit outside, as it was the middle of the day on the weekend. We really enjoyed the sandwiches (caprese and Italian) and the accompanying salads. I was less than impressed with the bruschetta, which was basically just chopped flavorless tomatoes on top of slightly soggy bread. Consistency is key, and I'm sure they will work out some of the kinks (and maybe tweak certain recipes?) as they grow. read more

Nice bar with some quality food for lunch and dinner. About 16 beers on tap and another dozen in cans. 3 TVs and free WiFi and outdoor patio area. Prices all over the place but most are $4 for 10oz and $8 for 20oz (no discount). Food was solid especially sourdough bread. Overall a good spot that is divey but nice enough to bring the family. Parking easy and food is good price. Beer list lacks IPA and extremely loud inside, but besides that a nice change of pace for a bar that has a TV but not a sports bar. One of my favorite places on the east side! It's the place you want to go to if you're in the mood for a no-frills attached, unassuming bar/ lunch place. I've been here for weekday lunch and dinner and drinks. The cocktails are amazing (we requested a whiskey sour which was off menu and and it was good!). The folks who run the place are very friendly. I've tried several of their sandwiches and my favorites are the Southern Italian and the Caprese sandwich.
