Years ago, Bandera was in this location. I see that The Evie is the replacement restaurant. I stopped in one evening after work for a quick sampling from the menu. I ordered two signature maki rolls. One was a dragon roll. The other was crispy jalapeño with hamachi. I must admit that they nailed the maki rolls. Great flavor and no rubbery texture, which was all the indication I needed to speak to how fresh it was. I paired both with cold sake. I'll expose myself as old when I say that I dined at a Stetson's clone in the Bandera space. The Evie (pronounced like the Pokemon?) serves sushi and American food overlooking Michigan ave. It feels a bit touristy but it's potentially the second-best restaurant on the Mag Mile after The Purple Pig. The prime rib beef dip was incredible, bonus points for using softer bread than I usually encounter. Sushi was a great effort. Fries not to my liking. Good service. 3% junk fee. read more

Came here with coworkers after some research. I was not disappointed. They look very new and the ambiance is nice and cozy and upscale but I think the prices are very reasonable for what you get. I chose the daily special which was scallops and they did not disappoint. He said they are large scallops and they sure weee. Very filling and the spinach risotto was different and paired so well. My coworkers got the salmon and burger and Osaka style roll which they really enjoyed as well. I had a jalapeño cocktail that was delicious. I wish it was a bit spicier. We had grilled artichokes and spinach/artichoke dip to start off and they did not disappoint. The grilled artichoke hearts could have been cooked a little less so that you get some actual meat vs it being print but it was still very tasty. I visited The Evie over the weekend to celebrate my birthday. The restaurant is beautiful with a nice view of Michigan Ave. my sisters and I started our dining experience with martinis. I had the Hemingway Daiquiri which was delicious and my sister loved the Espresso Martini. For appetizers we had the Tavern Greek Salad and the Baby Gem Caesar salad. Both salads were large enough to share and were fantastic. We LOVED the salads. For dinner we had the crab cake, Mussels & Clams, Tuna Tartar, Red Dragon Roll, and the Crispy Jalapeño & Hamachi Roll. Literally, everything that came to the table was amazing. The entire dinner from start to finish was delicious. For dessert, I was given the Evie's Millionaire Ice Cream. I have to start off by saying Daniel is amazing! I dined alone so I decided to sit at the bar. I truly appreciate him. He made my experience 10 times better! The food was amazing. I had seen this place on Yelp and it was close by at the heart of Michigan Ave. Interestingly, this restaurant is under the same management as the amazing brunch spot Wildberry. So why not try it? My friends and I unknowingly went on the day it opened. The place of course looked brand new and fancy with a beautiful ambiance. There's also plenty of seating. It's definitely a great spot for a date (maybe not a first date tho lol). Nancy did an absolutely wonderful job helping us--very honest, personable, and professional. Highly recommend requesting her! Nancy recommended dishes to us, and we ended up deciding on spinach dip and a few sushi rolls. The spinach dip was warm, cheesy, and flavorful paired with light sour cream and pico de gallo--what a great idea to balance the richness! When we ran out of chips for the dip, Nancy graciously brought over some more! The sushi was super fresh, and each roll was unique. Anyways, the atmosphere of the restaurant was really classy and elegant, and my friend's birthday was hosted here - so it matched the event perfectly. The service could have been a little timely, but I understand that it was kind of busy time. Lastly, the food was filling and their peach boba martini was hitting. However, for the prime rib sandwich, I'd suggest future customers to ask how will the meat be cooked, because they had to take the sandwich back as it was too rare for me to eat. I had a wonderful experience here for my birthday dinner. I made a reservation for 8 online with ease. When we arrived, my group was seated at the bar for a short time while they prepared our table. The signature roll was the first roll I ever enjoyed that included mango. The food was genuinely great and was the pinnacle of my dining experience during my brief stay in Chicago. I paired the food with a light non-alcohol ponzu mojito recommended to me by my server. I finished my meal with a berry sorbet that was - honestly - among the best sorbets I have ever had. Been dining here for a few years but the salt has become overpowering. Prime example: that fork & knife (ie thick-cut) bacon. Oh, how I wish I did not add that to my burger! This venue has been recently entrapped by Local By Toast's shoddy "Rewards" services game and staff doesn't know how it works with their Point Of Sale handhelds. (Answer: It _doesn't_ work, because LBT oversold itself to all the local restaurants this winter holiday, and now it can't properly service that new account volume.) That makes the server's job really tough, especially since a Rewards-game ad sent to a diner may be what brings that diner into the venue. This venue also pushes credit card fees onto consumers. A year ago that was a 3% surcharge. Now it's 4%. The push really feels like nickel-and-diming is going on to pay for this location's rent. read more

This restaurant was our favorite surprise on our recent trip to Chicago. My step-daughter and I were looking to have sushi for lunch so we chose The Evie based on reviews and distance from our hotel. Not only is it in a great area with a cute view, but the food and service is incredible. We shared a poke bowl, signature roll and shrimp rangoon roll. You could tell a lot of people come in more casual from work or shopping. It has a wall of windows overlooking the mag mile which is nice. Service was prompt and friendly. I ordered the cougar bait which was refreshing and delicious though a little small. It went down TOO easy. I asked the waitress for recommendations on sushi and she recommended the ones I was already considering. I got the mag mile and the crispy jalapeño rolls. Both were very good. Was visiting Chicago with my best friend and wanted to take him to one of my favorite restaurants on Michigan Ave. named Bandera. Well to my surprise it is closed and The Evie has replaced it. And I would have to say I was not disappointed at all. Matter of fact I think it was better than Bandera. The Evie is a little more elevated than Bandera. Place looks the same. Staff is very professional and very attentive from the moment you step in from the hostess to the servers. Even management is on duty and Available. Our waitress was truly wonderful. When I worked on Michigan Ave. this was my go to spot. Power lunch, ladies who lunch, business lunch, treat yourself lunch, the go to spot for consistent good food, good service and one very satisfying brunch, lunch or dinner. Pick one, you can't go wrong with any of those choices. Started with a delicious Caesar Salad. I ordered a Cosmopolitan on the Rocks and the volcano roll. My friend had the crispy chicken sandwich and we shared the warm brownies sundae and I have to say it's one of the best brownies I have had in my life (don't skip this dessert). Named after the owners daughter The Evie is a delight that I have been waiting on to arrive. I did not think another place could come along and replace Banderas properly. However, The Evie has settled nicely into its place. Still a nice place to have a wonderful view and a drink or dine with friends like I did that day I went. Pure American fair. Burgers, Steak, mash potatoes and smokey carrots (which are AWESOME), this place has a little of something for everyone. Even Fresh Sushi. OHHH and the cornbread!!! While it was not Banderas quality of cornbread it holds a special memory all its own and very much worth the 2 portions we had at the table. Certainly, a place worth the recommendation. My only complaint but not really a complaint is that they have a $19 Wagyu Hot Dog on the menu. I will tell you now in the City of Vienna Beef and Best Kosher with both plants in Chicago, I would not spend ANYONE'S money on a $19 Hot Dog. I don't care if it had gold leaf in it. I just wouldn't do it. I did not order the dog and I would suggest you ever do. I did have a magnificently prepared Filet Mignon Steak Medium. It comes with whipped Potatoes. I enjoyed my signature cocktail x2 , which was a French Martini and I also had some of my buddy's smoked carrots. Did not know carrots could taste that good. MMMMM! Came here for an afternoon lunch. The Evie Salad was delicious and so was the fresh bread. Our server disappeared after we got our entrees. We were supposed to get dessert with the corporate lunch special, but the server just didn't fire the dish. When she finally came back around 40 minutes after we had been served our entrees it took about another 10 minutes to get our key lime pie to go. She never acknowledged disappearing, apologized for the slowness of service, or tried to make up for absent service in anyway which was disappointing.
