I had seen this place on Yelp and it was close by at the heart of Michigan Ave. Interestingly, this restaurant is under the same management as the amazing brunch spot Wildberry. So why not try it? My friends and I unknowingly went on the day it opened. The place of course looked brand new and fancy with a beautiful ambiance. There's also plenty of seating. It's definitely a great spot for a date (maybe not a first date tho lol). Nancy did an absolutely wonderful job helping us--very honest, personable, and professional. Highly recommend requesting her! Nancy recommended dishes to us, and we ended up deciding on spinach dip and a few sushi rolls. The spinach dip was warm, cheesy, and flavorful paired with light sour cream and pico de gallo--what a great idea to balance the richness! When we ran out of chips for the dip, Nancy graciously brought over some more! The sushi was super fresh, and each roll was unique. I really enjoyed the Mag Mile roll, especially because of the chili oil on top. Overall it was a light, enjoyable meal but a tad expensive for what you get. read more

My wife and I stopped by here for her birthday weekend celebration. Let me tell you something, if you get Grace R.R. as a server, you will be WELL PLEASED!!!... She knows her stuff! I told her that she does her job VERY well upon exiting. Oh MY lawd. Here literally EVERYTHING was on-point, tasty, beautiful, etc, etc, etc. My wife had previously been here a couple of times and wanted me to experience it. It DID NOT let down. She had the fish sandwich with fires. I had their signature rolls and we shared the kale salad and grilled artichokes.... O.M.G. How was EVERYTHING EXCELLENT?!?. It was crazy. Grace even instrusted us on the "proper" way to eat and experience the artichokes. I had never eaten a whole grilled artichoke. Bet you I will from now on!. Oh ME oh my. I tore them jokers up! The char was just right, nice smoke and pop of citrus flavor, just deep flavor!!!... We made that infamous noise upon eating them. Geezzzz..... My wife said her sandwich was great, just the right amount of seasoning and crunch! My rolls were great as well! They definitely pay attention to detail. Grace even gave a recommendation on wine pairings, which also worked VERY well with our meal. Just WOW... That all I could say after the meal. The kale salad was EXCELENTE' as well. Nicely and finely chopped and well-seasoned and soaked so the texture was just RIGHT!?. That is VERY rare. We almost purchased one to go. We definitely took home left-overs and killed them when we made it home the next day! We ended the meal with my wife ordering the key-lime pie. WHAT!?.... Even THAT was great, nice burst of flavor and perfect crusty-crust. Man-oh-man..... First, excellent server (Grace R.R. NEEDS A RAISE)!. Was visiting Chicago with my best friend and wanted to take him to one of my favorite restaurants on Michigan Ave. named Bandera. Well to my surprise it is closed and The Evie has replaced it. And I would have to say I was not disappointed at all. Matter of fact I think it was better than Bandera. The Evie is a little more elevated than Bandera. Place looks the same. Staff is very professional and very attentive from the moment you step in from the hostess to the servers. Even management is on duty and Available. Our waitress was truly wonderful. When I worked on Michigan Ave. this was my go to spot. Power lunch, ladies who lunch, business lunch, treat yourself lunch, the go to spot for consistent good food, good service and one very satisfying brunch, lunch or dinner. Pick one, you can't go wrong with any of those choices. Started with a delicious Caesar Salad. I ordered a Cosmopolitan on the Rocks and the volcano roll. My friend had the crispy chicken sandwich and we shared the warm brownies sundae and I have to say it's one of the best brownies I have had in my life (don't skip this dessert). If you are on the Mag Mile, this is a must. Make it a destination. read more

Named after the owners daughter The Evie is a delight that I have been waiting on to arrive. I did not think another place could come along and replace Banderas properly. However, The Evie has settled nicely into its place. Still a nice place to have a wonderful view and a drink or dine with friends like I did that day I went. Pure American fair. Burgers, Steak, mash potatoes and smokey carrots (which are AWESOME), this place has a little of something for everyone. Even Fresh Sushi. OHHH and the cornbread!!! While it was not Banderas quality of cornbread it holds a special memory all its own and very much worth the 2 portions we had at the table. Certainly, a place worth the recommendation. My only complaint but not really a complaint is that they have a $19 Wagyu Hot Dog on the menu. I will tell you now in the City of Vienna Beef and Best Kosher with both plants in Chicago, I would not spend ANYONE'S money on a $19 Hot Dog. I don't care if it had gold leaf in it. I just wouldn't do it. I did not order the dog and I would suggest you ever do. I did have a magnificently prepared Filet Mignon Steak Medium. It comes with whipped Potatoes. I enjoyed my signature cocktail x2 , which was a French Martini and I also had some of my buddy's smoked carrots. Did not know carrots could taste that good. MMMMM! Unfortunately, it turned out to be rather mediocre and didn't quite live up to my expectations. However, the Pilsner beer was a highlight - flavorful and refreshing. Overall, while The Evie offers a great ambiance and some tasty drinks, the food left something to be desired. I didn't have a reservation but I came in alone on a Tuesday night at 6:30. They were very nice about getting me a seat. The ambiance was modern and trendy but not stuffy. You could tell a lot of people come in more casual from work or shopping. It has a wall of windows overlooking the mag mile which is nice. Service was prompt and friendly. I ordered the cougar bait which was refreshing and delicious though a little small. It went down TOO easy. I asked the waitress for recommendations on sushi and she recommended the ones I was already considering. I got the mag mile and the crispy jalapeño rolls. Both were very good. very unassuming spot and very eclectic menu... great service and strange ambiance. i frequented this location for years as bandera and it still looks like it to me lol. i guess the space can't do much with the suit store and the bank prominently in the area. food really is better than what i expected as it first appears that they can't be good at anything with so many different cuisines (sushi, lobster roll, herbed carrots?...) on the menu. i liked my teriyaki burger for the asian influences but black bean did not belong. the consistency was bit too mushy as well. i wish i went with one of their very delicious sounding salads instead. the herbed carrots and my broccoli side was excellent, however. my husband enjoyed the lobster roll - most especially bc it did not contain menu! great service! read more

Came here for an afternoon lunch. The Evie Salad was delicious and so was the fresh bread. Our server disappeared after we got our entrees. We were supposed to get dessert with the corporate lunch special, but the server just didn't fire the dish. When she finally came back around 40 minutes after we had been served our entrees it took about another 10 minutes to get our key lime pie to go. She never acknowledged disappearing, apologized for the slowness of service, or tried to make up for absent service in anyway which was disappointing. The reason for 4 stars is we made reservations two weeks in advance and sent them a message on Instagram that we were hoping for a window table. When we got there the hostess lead us to a booth, and when we asked to be seated at one of the three empty tables on the window she said "we have other reservations and those tables would have a time limit". We paid attention to those tables and no one was seated at two of them for our whole stay, and some window tables exchanged patrons. read more

A disappointing experience in terms of food, service, and ambiance. The "burger" is a fried pair of smash burgers, served with cold fries. The Caesar salad with salmon was served with a 2 ounce piece of undercooked salmon, plated separately from the lettuce. As for the ambiance, we noticed tables remained empty for at least 60 minutes before their reservations arrived; so we were told to sit at the bar. This is not a realistic accommodation for women balancing purses and shopping bags. read more

I went with a small group of 3 of us on a Tuesday evening around 7pm, and it was definitely packed, busy, and crowded. The staff and team were very kind and checked in with us throughout the night due to the small delays in being seated and receiving food. The lavender lemonade was a perfect mocktail option if you're looking for a non-alcoholic drink. All of us ordered the burgers (either the classic Evie or veggie) with side Caesar salads. So I have already been here a couple of times now as the first time was pretty fantastic that we came back. I think the restaurant has filled in for former spot of Bandera very nicely. The first time I got the Mag mole roll, Market fish, and spicy broccolini. The second time I also gotten the Market fish but it was a different type of fish with another kind of sauce but also very tasty. I also fit in a the tres leches the second time and that was pretty good. We also had different servers and they were very memorable too. The second time we went it was the server's first day and he did a great job. It wasn't his fault that they included the special sauce in the burger that my husband did not want and had to get a new order in, but it was nice that he did get another one. The prices are reasonable and it makes for a great place to dine after some shopping along the street. read more
