I was also disappointed that the clogged toilet was characterized as something that was "easy to miss by housekeeping." At this price point, a functioning bathroom feels like a pretty basic expectation. We really wanted to like this place and hoped, as locals, it could be somewhere we would return to or recommend to others. The whole place is fairly spacious! There are three floors (my room was a 5-bed dorm style room on the third floor), and the main bathroom is on the third floor too. It had two very clean shower stalls with plenty of toiletries for showers, and 3 bathroom stalls. The whole vibe of the bathroom was old Victorian rustic - very cute. The 5 bed room was shockingly comfy too - there were at least 3 other people in my room (clearly all hikers as well, very friendly), and I was bottom bunk. The beds themselves were super comfy, the pillows seemed like memory foam or something similar, and each bed had a fan and wall outlets. There was enough space under the bunks and on the little desk that the room didn't feel overcrowded with luggage either. And there was a small movie theater area in the basement, kitchen behind the lobby desk that is for everyone to use, and some little tables and chairs around including on the second floor which is where I ate dinner. Ngl, I actually appreciated that there were 3 others in my room and clearly several other people also staying in the Avon because it has a "haunted" feel to it, but having so many other happy/friendly hikers and travelers around just makes it feel cozy and safe. Overall: this place is in silverton, a super cute little Colorado town near tons of awesome hikes and gorgeous million dollar freeway! It is cozy, clean, and has plenty of resources. I didn't feel crowded at all.
