    Wedge salad with salmon
    Renee I.

Excellent meal here esp since we showed up without a reservation. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We sat at the upstairs bar and practically had the room to ourselves for a short time.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I had the "porn martini". Sounds naughty but it was delicious. Served with sidecar of prosecco. I don't usually like prosecco but this was pretty darn good. For dinner I selected the wedge salad with salmon. Salmon was tasty but just a tad overcooked. My other half had grilled angus fillet. It was delicious.

Yummy! My fiancé took me here for my birthday dinner during my birthday weekend in beautiful Ouray. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The outside and inside are both quite cool.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We drank red wine, split a wedge salad, and both had steak frites. For dessert, we shared the tabletop s'mores. The red wine was delicious and it was a nice generous pour (we live in Utah and are very used to stingier state-regulated pours, haha). The wedge salad was split and plated separately (no extra cost) which was nice. I do wish it was a little bit less salty, but it was still yummy. We both got steak frites, and it was very high quality steak that was cooked to the correct doneness for both of us. The fries were slightly colder than I would have liked, but the dish was overall great. Because the server had messed up and didn't push "send" when putting in our entree orders, the food took a long time to come out, but she felt apologetic and therefore comped the salad and our dessert. So, for dessert, we got the tabletop s'mores which was super fun to eat in an outdoorsy town. We didn't calculate our graham cracker ratios correctly so we did need to ask for more crackers, and our server was very kind to immediately get us more of those without charging extra. In the end, the service turned out just fine and we had a very happy celebratory dinner. We will definitely be back for a nicer meal in Ouray the next time we are in town!

    Venison and short rib

Visited Ouray over the weekend for my birthday and ate here with my husband. It was definitely the most enjoyable restaurants we had there. I got the venison and my husband ordered the short rib. Both dishes were very good! For dessert we got the cheesecake with blueberries that they presented to our table with a lit candle for my birthday. Sadly did not get a photo but this was one of the best we had! Not overly sweet, good texture and very yummy. Would recommend!

Front door. We didn't see one phone come out inside while we were there.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]In this small town feel area of Colorado, you won't find fast food chains or people snapping pictures at the dinner table. Your time around the table is meant to enjoy the food, libations, and company you're surrounded with.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] For that reason you won't see the photos I typically post. Don't let that take away from the amazing experience we had. For starters, the trout dip was unique in all the best ways. Creamy, layered, and topped with the perfect amount of capers for that salt fix. We also had the olives and my corn bisque was the best I've had anywhere. I went with the braised rabbit over rooster comb pasta, with a light sweet pea, morel cream sauce. A few pieces of roasted tomato sprinkled throughout added the perfect amount of acidity. Hands down the most tender braised rabbit I've had, and I've had it in Malta. My friends enjoyed the Elk Bolognese over pappardelle, which I sampled and it was phenomenal, and the braised fall off the bone shortrib with roasted root veggies. Every entree was executed perfectly from our perspective. We ended the meal with their ricotta cheesecake and three scoops of local ice-cream (vanilla, chocolate, salted caramel). Just as flawless as the rest of pur meal. When you go, don't forget to try their craft cocktails. The bourbon infusion was delicious.

The food was top notch. We had the salmon and also the pork chop. Awesomely prepared. Took a flourless chocolate cake home, and that was STELLAR! So good. Service was not as good as in the past. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The ambiance is nice. Upscale.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

We heard from so many locals to try this place, and it did not disappoint. We went on a Sunday for their Sunday night prix-fixe dinner menu, and everything was absolutely delicious--we left very full. The sweet potato and miso bisque with their fresh bread was literally to die for. The brisket was amazing, and the pasta was full of flavor. We ended with two adorable desserts. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The atmosphere is very romantic and much fancier than most places in Ouray[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]], so I definitely recommend making a reservation. Even during the slow season, they only had a couple seats left at the bar for two.

Most restaurants in tourist towns aren't that good. Well, move over because Brickhouse is great. Expensive but amazing. We sat at the bar on a crowded Monday. Reservations recommended it turned out. Anyway our seats were excellent with a Birds Eye view of the action and actually more our style than the tables. Anyway: burrata and beets appetizer-- literally perfect. Steak and fries -- literally perfect with a truffle salt on the fries. Short rib - ditto. Colorado beers on tap were well priced as was the Tempranillo. Friendly staff. Highly recommend sitting at the small bar.

Honestly the best food and restaurant in Ouray. It's a nice fancier spot to check out if you don't want burgers and the other bar foods on Main Street. We didn't have reservations but we were able to get seated upstairs towards the back next to the bar. It was a beautiful view since we were able to look outside of the streets. They had a special menu when we visited but all the food were 10/10! Oysters (4 pieces)- clean sweet and plump, added with yuzu and vinaigrette Elk bolognese- very good, meaty, and tasty! Lobster pasta- flavorful, a bit on the sweeter side Short ribs-they were nice to be able to add foie goie from our request. It balanced it out so well with carrots and broccolini Drinks were also crafted well and a good break from me drinking beer all week.

Okay, tries to be fancy, but the taste does not live up to the hype. Was surprised that it gets a 4.6 review after I ate there.

It's a 140-year place with history and charm and creaks in the floor and a dead bear on the wall and preserved painting of a woman on the bar floor... that kinda spot. And we wouldn't change a thing. The bar and bartenders are cocktails are all super cool, including a single large branded ice cube in the glass. Let's talk about the restaurant, though. I didn't want to venture and we gave it a shot. Nothing on the menu really even looked appetizing to me or the kids but we put on a good face anyway for mom. We ate all the food and our words--it was all delicious! By the way: I've spoken to locals and frequenters of Ouray who say that The Western was once considered kinda dumpy before a renovation in the past few years. I can't speak for how it was then, but I can tell you how it is now is just where I want to be.

To us, this place represents exactly what we love about Ouray: unassuming, welcoming and exceeding expectations. It's a place where you can sit inside or outside and sip a martini from a full bar. (Although we fell for the smokey Old Fashioned). A piano and saxophone combo played jazz. Conversations flowed on all sides at big tables. Located on the cozy grounds of the Ouray Riverside Resort complex, the Smokehouse recently added an enclosed patio with roll-up garage doors to give diners the indoor-outdoor feel. The rib platter and sides were terrific. The meat had a nice peppery bark and came easily off the bone. The Caesar salad and Mac and Cheese sides also were thoughtfully prepared. Desert was a rich Creme Brûlée cheesecake. Travis and his fellow hard-working servers were helpful and friendly. We can't recommend this place enough.
