Food and ambiance get a five; service gets a three. It took awhile to get greeted, and once we ordered, we didn't see any food for a long time, and once we did, timing was all off. If you're going to operate in a town where you know a lot of your clientele has a two-hour ticking clock before their train leaves, you've got to be on the ball. Seeing how good the cheese board looked, we started with that as an appetizer. We figured it would give us something to munch on while we were waiting for the rest of our food. Not so much. I ordered the grilled chicken sandwich, and my wife ordered the turkey avocado sandwich. After ordering all our food and waiting a long time, I saw another table get their cheese board at the same time as their entrees. I flagged down our waiter to see if we'd get our appetizer before our entrees. He went to check, and the cheese board came out...at the same time as our sandwiches. What's the deal here? Nobody wants their appetizer as part of their meal. For the record, the cheese board was big, good, and filling. My chicken sandwich was great, and my wife liked her turkey avocado sandwich as well. Fries were better than chips. We just needed things spaced out a bit. Our waiter came back by and said, "Wow! You two must've been hungry, as you ate that really fast." Def will retune. We're in town for an hour, to catch the train. The ragtime music drew us in. The fine featured female pianist. High ceiling. Wood bar, wood floor... all very charming. We've the pastrami sandwich and the side salad: all are good. We poured half of salad into the sandwich tray to add the dressing. Thanks for the music. read more

In Silverton right on the Main Street. The atmosphere was decent and they stay open late. Rolling into town wanting to get something to eat and they were open. We got 2 cheeseburgers 2 orders of fries and 2 beverages. The visuals of the food were good, but in actuality the burger was dry as the Sahara Desert and left my mouth feeling like all water was sucked out of my mouth. Even with mayonnaise, mustard and ketchup it was still dry. The fries had no flavor and were also dry even drowned in ketchup. So the total bill for 2 burgers fries and 2 drinks was 60 bucks, plus tip. The service was decent and I left a good tip. I will probably will not be back. FYI my friend said the last 2 times he went the food was similar. You decide for yourself. read more

Silverton is a cute old mining town! There are many shops and restaurants along the streets and we chose Lacey Rose Saloon because they have an outdoor eating area. We were seated outside but waited about 10 mins for the server to come out. He was very friendly and attentive once he knew we were there. Food is good! My husband had the pastrami sandwich and I had a grilled cheese. Yum... drinks were cold and delicious as well. Lunch with a view! Would stop here again. read more

Tried the perfect grilled cheese and chips for lunch along with a couple of the cocktails. The gimlet was good but the snake bite cocktail felt like it was missing an ingredient or two and neither my wife or I pull finish it. The "perfect grilled cheese" wasn't even close. It was significantly undercooked,no golden crust, cheese barely melted. Service was slow considering the place was only 2/3 full. Nice atmosphere, that's what merited being above 1 star. read more

Its gotta be hard having most of your business arrive during an hour lunch window when the train arrives. I was impressed when we entered, there were rows of iced water waiting to be served. We were among the first to get there after the train arrived in town, but the restaurant was filling fast. We were seated, and the server took our order. Nothing real special on the menu-- just the standards -- burgers and sandwiches. Within a few minutes a man from the kitchen delivered a tray to the table, said nothing, and vanished. I looked at the tray -- it was not what we ordered, so I went to the kitchen counter and said that what he delivered was not what we ordered. ...and then he argued with me about what he sat down on our table. I explained that what was on this computer might be different from what I ordered and he should take it up with our server, not be mad at me. A short while later, our server showed up. Again with the order not quite right. It was better, but still not what we ordered. So I said, alright close enough-- and she said just keep it, I'll fix it and she did, returning a few minutes later with our lunch. So while I appreciate her ability to work through her inability to submit and deliver the meal, she did eventually get it done. Inside is a bar with a piano player. read more

This restaurant/bar is attached to the Grand Imperial Hotel, where I was staying. It is right on the main street (Greene). We went there at 6:30pm on a Saturday night. Wintertime in Silverton is pretty slow and a lot of places are closed. This place was packed, but we got seated right away. It has a lively atmosphere and lots of old black and white framed photographs and mounted animal heads. I decided to order the burger, as it was the most reasonably priced item at $16 (+ $1.50 for cheese). The other entrées were $30 and above. Do not go there hungry! The server took our order right away, but our food did not come out until over an hour later. No apology offered. My burger was good - my friends liked their meals, which were the salmon and steak. I would recommend it, especially as it is one of the few restaurants in town open during the winter! read more

This is the restaurant attached to the grand imperial hotel on Greene st. The place had a charcuterie board with all types of choices. I saw the rabbit and rattlesnake sausage. Had to try it. Candyce even tried it and she said it had a good flavor. Candyce had the burger for the main dish. I had the pastrami and Swiss on rye with cyndi having the French dip. All were really good. Place is set up like 1890 saloon. Even with the bullet hole in the bar. Service was great and she was there for whatever we wanted. read more

Only had drinks here but wish we had chosen to have our dinner here. Spoke with a local and she was having dinner. It looked amazing! She also said it was the best Mac and cheese ever. Wanted to sit in the front, but the piano player was so loud we decided to sit in the little room in back. Service was really quick, but was very impersonal. My wife and I split a pastrami sandwich. Very little meat on the sandwich, and only came with chips unless you wanted to pay an extra $3 for fries. At $18 for just the pastrami sandwich and chips, I wasn't about to pay extra for fries. Do not get the grilled chicken sandwich! It is not "sliced chicken fajita style," it is chicken roll, which is ground up chicken parts glued together with some kind of gelatin fat, then sliced and heated up on a flattop griddle. The only reason I gave more than one star is because my wife's salad and tomato bisque soup were OK. Also, the piano playing was more bad Billy Joel than the honky tonk ragtime than was expected, and very loud. I would have complained about my fraud sandwich except that I had a $50 meal credit as part of our train ride and hotel package, so I didn't pay actual cash, except for the tip. The staff was very welcoming including the owner who talked to us for at least 20 mins and gave us some very helpful tips on our local trip plans in town. My husband and I had lunch here during our train stop. I ordered the Perfect Grilled Cheese with fries and a cup of tomato basil soup, and my husband ordered the Cheeseburger with chips. This definitely hit the spot after finishing the Iron Horse Bicycle Classic from Durango to Silverton! It was moderately busy, but we were able to get a table pretty quickly. Our server was amazing: she was very pleasant, attentive, and kept us updated on our orders while we waited. As a number of people were still around after the Iron Horse, service was a little slow, but this was expected and reasonable. Our server ensured we had ample drinks in the meantime and let us know when the kitchen began working on our food. I ordered the Imperial Burger with green chiles, bacon, and provolone cheese. The burger is served on a really buttery brioche roll, which was perfect after the long ride. The burger was cooked perfectly and the green chiles had the right amount of heat. I had mine with fries, which were also tasty and seasoned well. I was really happy to find out they had the Mexican Logger on tap, which paired well with my order. The atmosphere inside is really neat with several old stain glass windows, definitely adding to the old saloon vibe. Overall, we really enjoyed our meal and time here and would definitely stop in again the next time we find ourselves in Silverton! read more

We were in Silverton to ride the train to Durango and needed to grab lunch. We checked out reviews and decided on Lacey Rose Saloon for two reasons: the menu and the atmosphere. We went here when a lot of other restaurants were closed for the holiday weekend. There was one server to take care of everyone. She was very nice and welcoming. There was a young man who sat us, but he didn't help her otherwise which I think was a lack of usefulness. She was running around and he was standing around. They were out of most of the things we wanted so we settled on what our neighbor's had- a filet with mashed potatoes and cheesy grits. The filet wasn't seasoned very well and was just okay. The grits were divine. Our other order was the pork shops with chutney, mashed potatoes, and asparagus. I didn't like the pork chops. They had a deep woody taste to them. The asparagus was amazing. We were told that the wait was going to be long to get our food so we tried to order something simple. Again, most of the things were gone. We settled on fries. Turns out, the fries were NINE dollars. Ridiculous! A plate of fries shouldn't be that much. Anyway, our bill was more than $100 for the fries and two meals. Would we go there again? Prob not. Great selection of food with reasonable prices for such unique destination. The owner has a passion of preserving the history of the place. The good: Limited places open in Silverton on a Tuesday night, so was happy they were open. Walked in, nice ambiance, greeted by friendly helpful bartender and the server came multiple times. The bad: server lady with supposedly clean gloves on took break from plating our charcuterie board to serve other guests their meals when they came up and even grabbed a filthy ketchup bottle for others then went back to the same dirty gloves on our food. Also, the steak served was the thinnest (like 3/8") and most gristle of a ribeye, it was really terrible for a place billing itself as a steakhouse.... Like something served by a Denny's at 10x the cost. The flavors were good but such a terrible cut charged a premium for. Also kitchen staff that came into the restaurant looked unkempt and unhappy, so had concerns regarding behind the scenes too. read more
