We walked in with my legitimate medical service dog, who is trained to alert me before medical episodes occur. Instead of being welcomed, we were immediately interrogated by the woman at the front, then questioned again by the bartender. We were seated and left sitting there for 30 minutes without a single person taking our order or offering service. Our waitress even apologized and admitted she "hates that she can't help us," making it obvious the staff had intentionally decided not to serve us. Throughout the entire time, my service dog was exactly where a service dog should be--quietly lying under the table at my feet, causing absolutely no disruption. After waiting half an hour, I finally asked if we were ever going to be served. That's when we were told the issue was my service dog. When I questioned this, the bartender's response was to tell me I "didn't need an attitude." I've written maybe five Yelp reviews in my life, but this experience deserves to be shared. The way we were treated was humiliating, discriminatory, and completely unacceptable. It felt like we were being singled out simply because I have a disability and rely on a service animal. All six of us got up and left because of how we were treated. Small businesses deserve support when they treat people with respect. This business did the opposite. I would never recommend this restaurant to anyone, and I sincerely hope no one else has to experience the kind of discrimination we did. read more

There's so many great places to eat in Silverton so it was hard to choose! We got the pizza here and it was very very good! Excellent beer choices too. This place is not a far walk from where the train drops off too. The only downfall was the service. Could have been better. read more

O.m.g the dough on that pizza was to die for! I don't know if it's because I was starving after hiking for 5 hours to ice lake, or what, but this pizza was amazing! The restaurant itself was packed with people watching the World Cup game. However, we were seated immediately! Our order was taken quickly! When I got the pizza it was amazing! Great beer, killer pizza and great service! It was so hard to choose a pizza since there were so many choices, but the one I picked was amazing! Their beer is really good quality and is brewed on-site. I wish they weren't out of their golden ale as I wanted to try that, but the amber and stout were delicious. My mom and I got to talk to the owner about life in Silverton both in peak season and off-season. It was a really cool way of life, but man is it tough for people in this area in the winter. Definitely come here to enjoy the food and drink. They also have outside seating if you have a dog. read more

Well, we stood at the Wait to be Seated sign for almost 10 minutes. The waiters asked us to move as they went inside and outside. Waiters inside saw us. No one said it would be a few minutes. Kolsh beer with a blackberry for me, husband had a whisky beer, kids had a root beer made in Durango - all very good. Atmosphere is cute - kinda like an old saloon. But HOT especially depending on where you sit- lower seats near a fan or outside patio with umbrellas would have been better for us. Yes yes yes. If you're in Silverton - this is the BEST meal you can enjoy. We've been to a bunch of restaurants here and Golden Block is fantastic. Pizza is phenomenal AND TERRIFIC gluten free cauliflower crust available. Service is super friendly and warm. The beer is outstanding and we especially recommend the Madam Brown Ale. We took the train from Durango on a Tuesday and chose this place for lunch. We were the first on the waitlist, so we had about 15 minutes to look around town (and buy a t-shirt!) before they texted us that our table was ready. Our server was friendly, and we had our food soon after ordering. They cook everything on a wood-fired brick oven, so our paninis were perfectly crisp and hot. My Maggie was very good, with a perfect combination of prosciutto, spinach, pesto and mozzarella. My cousin enjoyed the Minnie, and her husband liked his Cunningham. We all got the regular size, which was enough for lunch. Although we didn't try them, the pizzas were popular and looked great, too. Very dog friendly! They let me and my dog sit on the patio even though it was cold and other restaurants in town weren't doing patio seating. Food was fine, nothing bad or great about it. I had the cheese and pesto bread, a side salad and a beer and that was more than enough for just me. Our only negative experience during our week in Colorado, of feeling like we were unwelcome. I can only speculate, as I don't know for sure, but it felt like one of the many times in my life I've been discarded or treated poorly because I'm with another man. It's entirely possibly that this had nothing to do with the horrible treatment we felt we received. I'll try to keep my emotion out of this review, because perhaps my unchecked emotional state as a result of our experience at this business, combined with the owner clapping back unprofessionally and unwilling to consider how her horribly rude demeanor to us might have been part of the problem, resulted in a just as unprofessional review response from us. After writing a review that described how we were made to feel, as two men with matching wedding rings and a pup who came up on the train all together from Durango and wanted to eat lunch but were ushered to the sectioned- off outdoor street seating, and quickly scorned for attemptin + raise an umbrella at one of the tables in the totally empty outdoor seating section, and being told in one sweeping sentence expressed aggressively: "we have these umbrellas closed for a reason, it's the wind ... (to which my husband replied "oh ok, sorry it's just so hot and there is no shade").. as she spoke over him before his 3rd word, completing her run-on sentence sentence with: "well then you need to go find somewhere else to eat" We gladly did, and found an amazing BBQ restaurant down the street with excelente service, raised umbrellas and water for our service dog. In response tom my initial review on this site, the owner (who was the person we apparently had to deal with) quickly clapped back, calling me a liar, and a "Karen"; insisting that she told us she "offered us" the outdoor seating because we had a dog, but that's not true. She never even asked if he was a service dog and she just pointed outside and said you can go sit out there. I'll bring you a menu. She insisted in her Clapp back that she initially explained why the umbrellas weren't up, but that's not true either. She came aggressively out, winding the umbrella back down as she told us the umbrellas weren't up because of the wind, then, speaking over my husband when he tried to say "sorry, it's just so hot out" ... but before he could even get 2 word out she spoke over him and told us we should go somewhere else. She continues to clap back in private messaging, declaring that this is not the truth of the incident, but it is 100% the truth. This business has horrific customer service. People who know me, know I'm the furthest thing from a "Karen" ... but she continues to declare this in her clap-backs. It's amazing to me that her 3 other business partners are okay with this type of behavior to represent their business. read more

We come here yearly. It's a non-negotiable. Chinese laundry is going to be your best pizza. It's got a weird combo of ingredients, but it works. We also like the tree hugger, rock hound, and mountain climber. The seating is tight, and it can get busy. Also, last time we were there we had a party of 8 and they had to split us into 3 tables with 3 separate tickets and they still charged us gratuity which was honestly...ridiculous. Is that even legal? Might "de-rail" us from coming back. :( read more

It is wood fired but the crust is more like bread than dough. Got a mushroom and red onion and spinach pizza and there were barely mushrooms or red onions on it and the spinach was seemingly thrown on top at the last minute because it was pretty much raw and clearly not cooked with the pizza. Waited almost 10 minutes after finishing for someone to ask me if I wanted a box and my bill and they were not very busy. I would not recommend this place for pizza but the beer was tasty and the atmosphere was fine although the chairs are way too low for the tables! read more

This is a nice brewery, right on the main strip. There was about 10 seats at the bar, and they were not too busy for a Friday. Maybe due to the rain. Plenty of parking near the restaurant. Comfortable seating with a coat rack & hooks for your purse. Service was good, and the bartender made a good white Russian (that was the drink special). My husband the Madame Brown Ale' which he rated a 3/5. The pictures of the their pizza on YELP, made it look much better than it was. Pretty mediocre Pizza. We had the Gold Miner. The fresh basil was so flavorful, and the crust was perfect. The staff at the bar where we ate was super excellent. Our server was a local who grew up in Silverton and raised a child there. They genuinely love summer tourist season and ski season and were so friendly and willing to chat. We've been here a few times because we think their pizza is the best in town. In the winter there aren't many restaurants open in Silverton and glad we found the block brewery. Serving mainly paninis and pizzas, this is not a bad place to be stuck at. They have a custom wood fire style pizza oven on site and all the pizzas we tried were great. Really liked their take on a side salad with their Sriracha seasoned dried cranberry's and the differing type of lettuce it had. read more
